Install XP Probook 1 440

Hello

I need to install win XP on a 440 G 1 probook, but I can´t to disable the AHCI option in order to configure correctly to the new installation of win XP, can anyone help me with this? is there a chance to "unlock" this BIOS option or simply an option to disable the AHCI mode?

Thanks in advance!

You are the very welcome.

Unfortunately, there is not.

The last platform of chipset for intel XP driver support is the 7 series.

I'm a little surprised to learn that your laptop has not a BIOS where you can change the settings for disk controller to IDE mode, but I guess that since XP (maybe Vista too) is the only OS that would need such a context, and Intel left support for XP, so there is no reason to have this option more.

You will have either Lance XP on an older laptop, or use W7 Pro on your G1 440, enable VT in the BIOS and have this XP virtual machine as I run on my dc7800 CMT.  I don't think it matters what model of PC you run in XP Mode on.

XP mode works fine for my needs on the W7 Pro platform.

August 1 HP made changes to their support site. After this time of downloads was a mess and with incomplete list SP. At least for the models who enter the business model category. HP has always failed to list the SP for the business models as if it was before August 1.

I checked your model and here is what I find.

Graphics drivers are missing and perhaps more components.

I think it was a very bad timing of HP to make this change, a few days after the release og Win10.

  • ProBook g3 440 (W4P04EA): upgrading RAM on 440 g3

    Hello!

I intend to upgrade ram on my laptop. Now she has 1 module 4 GB ddr4 2133 MHz and I would like to add another 8 gb. Is there a list where I can find compatible modules from different manufacturers?
Or it would be better to remove the existing memory and insert two modules identical (i.e. 2x8gb)?

I have a Zbook 15 G3 HP Mobile Workstation is ready for me. I added 8 gigs to the factory setting. It also uses the DDR4-2133. I bought memory at Frys. It's not the same brand as the original but has the same size so works in dual channel. By the way, you could add another 4 GB module to have total 8 GB, and as long as you get DDR4-2133, you should be OK, but I would not modules in sizes mix... either get another 4 concert or get a pair of 8 modules of concert.

That's what I have in my laptop and it works fine:

    Hey @brommmmm,

One thing we know for sure is that your computer and the printer doesn't seem to like. I think that there are problems with your registry that are causing all these different errors, especially since the error log for the program installation continues to point to the registry key: HKLM\SOFTWARE\Hewlett-Packard\Install\ {BCDD692B-17 2D-440-9A1B-501C71D72CC8} for permissions problems. I have a little more suggestions to solve these problems in System.

Step 1: Uninstall your printer software and drivers

Step 2: Run the CCleaner on your computer to fix registry issues:

    CCleaner

Step 3: Unlock hidden Admin account:

    1. Open the display Start again by clicking the Windows start at the bottom of your computer screen icon or by selecting the Windows button in the bottom left of your keyboard to the right of the Ctrl key.
    2. Once the splash screen opens, type command prompt
    3. Once the result of the search for the command prompt appears, do a right click on it and "run as administrator"
    4. Once the command prompt opens type: net user administrator / Active: Yes and press ENTER.
    5. Then, restart your computer
    6. When your computer turns back on, you should be able to log in to the new administrator account that appears. This account will not have a password on it.
    7. If your computer will automatically connect to your normal spending users user account and log on to the administrator account.

    Step 4: Install printer:

    1. Once you are logged into the new account administrator download and run the installation of your printer: HP Deskjet F2400 all-in-One series Full Feature Software and Driver
    2. Start the installation of your printer.
    3. Once the printer installs successfully log on the administrator account and log in to your normal user account. The printer should now be installed on your normal user account.

Step 5: Disable the hidden Admin account:

    4. Once the command prompt opens type: net user administrator / active: No. and press ENTER.
    5. Then, restart your computer

Please respond and let me know if everything works now. Fingers crossed!

  • Troubled network on Inspiron 1501 w / Broadcom 440 x

    Hello

I had to reinstall Windows on two Inspiron 1501. Everything was going well until I started to install the built-in network interface driver. The driver seems to be well recognized by windows, but it only works when the computer starts after that it was totally off (stop and start). To restart the computer is 'only', the NETWORK card is not catching DHCP or receives not all packages.

Here's what I did to install:

    (1) install Windows XP French w / SP3 from the CD provided by Dell

    (2) install the software system found on www.dell.fr/support

    (3) install driver Chipset found on the dell support Web site

    (4) install the driver Broadcom 440 x found on the dell support Web site (tried both versions are available and even a third version found on another site on the web)

Here's what I tried to get this working:

    1) updated the BIOS with the latest version available, but it did not help.

    (2) setting up a static IP address, but it has not changed anything.

    (3) tried 3 different versions of the driver: 4.60, 4.52 and 4.47. All the drivers have the same behavior.

    (4) the IP address of windows the battery even if Windows XP has just been reinstalled reset. Did not help.

    5) tried to play with the driver different options (Qos, flow control, etc.) but it did not help.

The same behavior occurs on both computers. It has nothing to do with the French used in Windows XP terms? I'm out of ideas.

EDIT: I forgot to mention that the NETWORK card was working fine until I reinstalled windows...

  • nVidia Driver Update: "Invalid access to memory location" error

Recently, I noticed that nVidia had updated the drivers for my GeForce 440. When I tried to install, I got an "invalid access to memory location" error and the installation failed. I thought that I still had operational drivers, then I would understand later.

Three nights ago Windows Update took on himself to try the update for me. He uninstalled the driver with success (which I didn't have to do it because of the above error), but has no installation. Following manuals to install attempts have also failed.
Looking at the window control panel programs and features shows that older drivers seem to be installed, but don't work do not. Also, attempts to uninstall fail with the same error.
Because I reinstalled Vista during the summer, and made no significant changes since then, I don't have a system restore point. Careless of me, I know, but that's it.
Is it possible to solve this problem short even after reinstall Vista or should I resign myself to a day and a half of reupdates?

    Hello SudroBrown II,

Thanks for choosing Windows and thank you for providing an opportunity to help you.

According to the description, it looks that you are having problems with the Nvidia graphics card. "As I understand it, you get an error message" invalid access to memory location "when you install drivers Nvidia GeForce 440.

Make the SFC (System File Checker) scan and see if the problem occurs.

How to use the System File Checker tool to fix the system files missing or corrupted on Windows Vista or Windows 7

Answer to us if you are having problems with the graphics card or any other issue of Windows, and I'd be happy to help you.

    Good day!

    Hope this information helps.

  • ProBook 440 G3: Problem installing Win7 on ProBook 440 G3 - HARD drive not found

When I install Windows 7 on this PC it does not detect the HARD disk drive. If I choose the most recent version, it can detect.

I was wondering when I try to install windows 7 it always require driver, I click on browse then it shows my drive on the HARD drive to find the driver, but it does not list in the place we choose to install OS.

How can I do to install window 7?

    See if it works...

I discovered that apart Intel chipset USB 2.0 support Skylake chipset.

This means that windows installs the drivers normal USB will not work.

The Microsoft Windows DVD ISO not the USB 3.0 drivers natives either.

Therefore, add USB 3.0 drivers in the Windows ISO file.

Intel has on it.  They have a utility that does all the work for you.

Run this and point to your Installation USB support and, hopefully, W7 will be installed.

    Hello:

Microsoft Windows 7 installation media is not the native USB 3.0 drivers.

Therefore, add USB 3.0 drivers in Windows installation flash drive.

Intel has on it.  They have a utility that does all the work for you.

Follow the instructions in the Readme link to make a bootable USB flash drive to your windows installation DVD.

Run it, and then tap your Installation USB Windows Media, and Windows 7 should install.

  • HP probook 440 g2: problem when installing windows 10

    cibi075

    Hello;

Let me welcome you on the HP forums!

I read your message on the problems to the upgrade of Win10 and wanted to help.

You try to upgrade from Windows Update? Ask because it is the hardest to do and the less reliable way.

A much better way is to use the tool for creating Windows Media (MCT): 10 Windows Installer using the media - Windows help authoring tool

With this tool, you have the option of (1) creation of installation of Win10 (USB or DVD) media, (2) download an ISO file, (3) update the PC directly.  If all you want to do is updated on this PC, then choose the option: upgrade this PC now.

    Good luck

I'm a volunteer and I do not work for, or represent, HP.
