Installation of a second hard disk in P6 - 2412 has

Is there a position to mount a second HDD in case the Pavilion P6 - 2412a?

I had a peek inside and can't see anything obvious.

We spare ports SATA and connectors to power supply but I can't find a place to mount the real drive.

Any ideas (other than to let it hang) would be appreciated.

How to install a second hard drive (4 t) of my HP P6620?  I opened the box and there is no extra cable for adding disks hard disks/CD.  Two slots used for cables are currently being used by the installed hard drive and a CD player.

    Hi @jdrabourn!

Since all SATA ports are used at the present time, you can go with a SATA multiplier in order to have more drive connected to your PC. Plug you it in to a single SATA port, but limited all disks to the SATA speed (for example 4 discs on a 6 GB/s aura port 1.5 Gb/s limit each). This is different from a RAID controller because controllers allow a potential speed on each disc while the multiplier limited all disks to the single port speed.

Regarding the cables, you will need additional in order to connect additional HARD drive.

Hope this helps, and feel free to ask any questions you may have.

  • Installation of a second HARD disk (slave drive) in an Inspiron 3646

Can I add a second HDD (a slave drive) to an Inspiron 3646? It's a new I 3646, he replaced one consumed. I managed to save the hard drive and I would like to install it as a backup drive/extra storage.

I can't find any technical information on the Dell website, no patterns or the FAQ.

There are two bays 'open' on the rear of the case. It allows to install the reader?

There is no cage attached to these berries or inside the case. Workaround is to make an external hard drive and plug in usb, but would rather put it in the box.

    Any suggestions? Thank you.

Is it possible to remove the optical drive and replace it with a second hard drive?  This needs no additional hardware?  He would support a 3.5 or 2.5 "hard drive using this method?

    sdxm

    Yes, you could.

There are two 5.25 "x 3.5" and 5.25 "x 2.5"Bay of converters available, probably 2.5 HD"would be the best fit, but you have to find a 5.25" virgins for the collar. [page 34].

    Hello

I have a HP Pavilion t770.uk desktop PC. According to the manual, there is a dual Bay HARD drive space, which means that a second HDD can be mounted also on the original HARD disk. Data ATA series and power wires are there and there is space at the back of the HARD drive for an extra HARD drive cage, but he doesn't seem to be any fixing points to hold the HARD drive safely. HARD drive existing slots outside the cage and is held in place by a plastic locking support, but no such support or fixing holes are there for a second HDD. Can anyone help?

  • installation and replacement of hard disk in the computer hp mini 110

I need help replacing a hard drive on my computer hp mini 110.

    HP Mini 110

    Windows XP sp3

I just posted a question about the installation of the operating system.  Fixed that issue but found another.  I installed the operating system and everything was fine.  I started to install the drivers and applications, and after you have installed hp applications the pc has restarted and came up with a message saying:

PRI Master Hard Disk: S.M.A.R.T. Status BAD, Backup and replace, press F1 to resume.

PRI Master: WDC WD1600BEVT-60ZCT1 13.01A13 ULTRA DMA MODE 5 S.M.A.R.T. Capable and BAD Status

I press F1 and it started.  I was still a few drivers requiring an installation.  Since I've installed just everything, there was not much to save.

I installed a different driver and rebooted and this time I hit F1 it didn't start.  I got a black page with a line of blinking cursor and nothing else happens.

After some research, I've seen it's a bad hard drive.

    My question is:

Is this something that can be replaced at home.  I can read the instructions.  What I need to get the same hard drive, or are there others that will work?  If I can do it at home, where can I find instructions to replace it and what is the best place to get the hard drive.  Is this what I need to know.

Thanks for anyone's help.  I'm sure I look like an idiot, but it's something I've not done in a laptop.  I replaced and internal hard drive in a desktop computer.  I remember myself set to land and out and plug in another.  I had the chance then because the computer had 2 hard drives.

I guess I'll need to reformat the drive and start over again with the installation of the operating system etc.

Would I be able to upgrade and install vista or windows 7?

    Any help is appreciated.

    Hi, Tamara:

Here is the link to the service manual for your laptop, which also lets you complete the You-Tube video.

    http://h10032.www1.HP.com/CTG/manual/c01895806.PDF

You can buy a 2.5 "laptop hard drive size 160 GB SATA II, should not exceed 500 GB.

You can get a 5 400 rpm model or a model of 7 200 RPM.

The difference between the two is that you will get better performance (faster seek times) a disc of 7 200 RPM.

However, it will be at the expense of the life of the battery between charges.

So, what you choose, it's up to you.

Here is a link to a site that sells hard drives of laptop.

They have great prices and there are a lot of feedback from customers that may be useful for you to decide which one to go with.

According to specifications, your computer can run Windows 7 well.

I recommend edit you your message and remove any reference to the discussion of smuggling copies of Windows 7. These assignments are not in accordance with the rules of the forum.

In addition, please keep in mind that a lot of these free copies of Windows can be loaded with traps that can steal your personal data and do other nasty things, including perhaps turn your PC into a Bot who committed illegal activities.  It is not worth it for me to install such illegally of is software and possibly have the bust of the FBI to the bottom of my door and arrest me for something that I didn't know that was going on with my PC.

It seems that the recovery XP disks are available for your PC, even if the link is broken, so if you want to reinstall XP, contact HP by telephone and you can get a set for less than $20.00.

Otherwise, you can get a game online site for $27.00 + shipping costs.

    http://www.computersurgeons.com/ProductDetails.aspx?ID=13408

You get a legitimate copy of Windows OEM 7 (relatively) cheap at the link below.

    http://www.Newegg.com/product/product.aspx?item=N82E16832116983

Or you can pay double that and get the commercial version, which you can transfer to another PC. With the OEM edition, you can only use it once.

  • Is Satellite X L855-10 supports a Bay for a second HARD disk drive

    Hello

In my opinion, the 2nd HDD or SSD disk is not supported.
You can use the HARD drive, or you can try to replace with a compatible SSD 1 TB HARD drive. But the use of HDD and SSD drive to one and same time is not possible.

  • Second hard disk, Simple right?

    Not with HP.

So my HP Envy j161ea has been giving me hassle from day one. HP support is shockingly bad, they make Samsung resemble experts. All I want to do is put a Second drive in my laptop, make a backup, so this one can go and be repaired. Simple?  So I buy a Sandisk ultra plus, 128 GB drive of PC World, insert it as it says, and it is said that it is, he needs to pick up. Nope, Bios's, but Windows 8.1 does not work. Nowhere is displayed.  Sanisk say it is a problem of HP. So basically I can't have a second drive, and I can't make a return to the top. PC World want this laptop back tomorrow and I'm drunk. I checked the connectors, checked online and it is only of people with this problem and no solution, which doesn't surprise me, as slow WIFI that everyone has with this laptop all over the internet, is not a problem KNOWN as HP. Why ever buy this.  Simple things, just so difficult. If someone knows a way to get my HP to tell windows in the laptop there is a SECOND HHD inside it, if I can make a return to the top. Congratulations in advance. PS as I said if I don't have any solution tomorrow I'll lose all that this laptop has go back.

Would you believe it, someone has a resolution of work. Basically install you this driver, for other production http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?DocID=DS037866 and restart the computer laptop and tada, a second hard drive. I can't wait to get rid of this laptop.

  • w540 replace the cd for a second hard disk drive?

    Hello

I ordered the thinkpad w540 last week. With a dirve normal hard drive and a CD compartment. I figured out after the arrivied to the computer I got a solidsate inside my xps 15 hp.

In the best of cases, I would replace the CD drive, as says the config in the web page in timeline option could be done. How could I know if it is possible to replace the CD player with another hard drive?

Otherwise I would try to replace the original disk for the solid state hard drive, but in this case I loose windows system 8. Is is possible to install again in the new hard drive with the same license?

I was wondering just because it would be nice to keep the drive inside your computer instead of having to plug it in all the time, due to the faster speed, it would be good to use is as the primary dirver.

    Thanks in advance,

    -Jorge

    Hi, Jorge

you will need an adapter "caddy" to house the second HDD/SDD. Ch right here in the forum, see http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/forums/searchpage/tab/message?location=forum-board%3AW_ThinkPads&q=caddy... .

For my W540, I use the caddy of http://www.newmodeus.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=555 and have a very good experience over the years (W510, W520, W540...).

Regarding replace drive HARD original with SSD, there are basically two possibilities - either you use the recovery option (create your own media - see google or trying to get a Lenovo - not sure it will work) or use a transfer software. I have used for years Acronis products, especially because it acknowledges the SSD and aligns everything as it should on SSD (won't go now too deeply in the alignment of industry and to this day).

And if you want to run your W540 on steroids, alias max possilbe storage capacity, see my signature...
