Installation of memory channel to W520

I am planning to complete all 4 locations of memory with 4 GB each. I bought a pair of memory cards, are "dual channel kit. The question is where to put these two so that the couple works as a memory dual channel?

From the manual, it is not really clear which is which slot. I guess, the slots located under the keyboard are identified as SLOT 0 (top) and SLOT 0 b (bottom). Down those are 2 SLOT (left) and the SLOT 2 b (right).

Official video of W510, it looks like SLOT 0 and SLOT 2 are primary modules and SLOT 0 b and 2B SLOT are secondary modules. These bananas are called as 1 & 3 under the keyboard and 3 & 4 low on video.

The pair go to the SLOT 0a and 0b SLOT? It is under the keyboard.

Or the pair goes from 0 to SLOT & SLOT 2A? The one on top one on the bottom, but both in the main channel.

  • Installation upgrade memory in the new laptop (E8730w)

I just got my new laptop and was dismayed to see that I obviously have to install the 2 GB memory upgrade that I ordered.  When I'm ready to install it, I will contact HP technical support.  I'm interested in the big picture right now.  The laptop has installed Windows Xp and Vista, stored on the hard drive.  No matter if I use the new laptop for, say, from the user's manual before as I have added additional memory, or is it better not to use the laptop until I have all of the memory (2 GB original and 2 GB upgrade) in place.  I hope that this process will be no more complicated than to install an ethernet card in a years office 5 or 6.  Where can I get good screwdriver to open the module compartment memory?  From my experience, it is easy band, the head of a screw phillips, especially a small head, if there is no appropriate screwdriver.  I'd appreciate any idea on these issues.

I don't think that no matter how long you use it before you install the memory. Regarding the screwdriver, I use a 41678 artisan to work on laptops with screws Phillips. It could cost $ 1.69 at any Sears and any tech tools for perhaps $15 will be a very similar small Phillips. You will know if you are stripping it, so stop everything. Memory installation is much easier than to put a PCI on a desk. Relax its all good.

    Hello Greg

To remove the RAM module on the Satellite U200/U205 is not so problematic. First I would like to remember you that you should be very careful because if you have no experience, you can damage something. Most of the plastic parts on the laptops is very sensitive and can be easily damaged. Please be gently.

Very nice explanation how to expand the memory, you can find in the document of the user s manual on page 156. If you do not have it please download it from http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com > support & downloads > support home > downloads.

If you need further assistance please write again.

    Bye and good luck!

You n t need drivers or programs to install the memory modules.
The location of memory, you will find downstairs. The lid is placed in the middle.
To remove the screw and the cover to see the slots. After installtion module please enter the BIOS to check if the value of the memory is correct

I think the detailed instructions you will find in the user manual which must be preinstalled on the laptop.

Be sure to use compatible modules!

Whenever you do an upgrade of RAM in the future and you want to it works as expected the first time it is turned on:

Always purchase compatible memory modules guaranteed

upgrade only pairs of identical memory modules.

What you are experiencing, it's what I expected to happen because you do not follow these two rules "" upgrade memory in PCs and laptops. Mixing memory you made generally results in failure at startup or in an unstable operating system.

I can't tell you what should work, because you have not identified your PC. This is not the same as upgrading a self built PC. Manufactured of PC memory upgrades are always executed by matching the name of the manufacturer of the model to the list on the site in the configuration utility or the manufacturer of memory by the manufacturer. Find a serial number on the side or rear. Post here the number of full product in the wire.

It supports the dual channel, given that the processor of AMD E2-6110 memory controller has only a single channel for both RAM memory modules (DIMM)
