• Need help with the wireless internet Power Book G4

  Hi-I recently inherited a Power Book G4.  I have problems to connect to wireless internet.  According to the Profiler systems, it has an AirPort Extreme card, but there is no icon on the screen wireless.  Advice to connect would be appreciated!

  The icon in the menu bar can be hidden or displayed.  The setting is the system network preferences pane.  Where it says display, select AirPort.  There is a checkbox for the State of AirPort show the menu bar.  Since the AirPort icon in the menu bar, you can select the a local wireless network to join.

  This pane of system preferences, you can use the more specific configuration settings, although the default settings work often unless you use special parameters with your wireless router.

  AirPort Extreme Card maybe for 802.11b and gand not n.  If your wireless network is configured for 802.11n only, you will need to change this setting to allow to 802.11 g (on the wireless router).

• Installation of Ubuntu Server 12.04 on Power Edge T110II operating system much more difficult than what he must do.

  I just bought my second Dell, a Power Edge T110II Tower Server and have encountered many problems when trying to install Ubuntu 12.04 as a BONE. In my before Dell server all I had to do was to put the ISO of Ubuntu Server image in the CD and it uploaded to the server with virtually no problem hardware what so ever. I looked through the manual and on the Internet for help with this but still I found nothing that solves this problem.

  On several occasions, I get messages error that the disc (which is an official record of Ubuntu) cannot be started or when I actually go as far as to see a screen giving me the opportunity to install Ubuntu he hangs up after only a few lines of code are displayed. I tried to do the instillation with BIOS (which doesn't seem to work at all) and UEFI which gave me a screen asking if I wanted to install Ubuntu. I might add that I did not understand how to turn off the quick start that has been proposed in a blog on installing Ubuntu using UEFI.

  I searched through the forums here to find more information on how to install Ubuntu Server on a T110II of edge Poer, but did not find anything of use at the moment. Any ideas would be appreciated with gratitude and once I found a way to install Ubuntu on the Dell Server I'll post a blog with full instructions on how to do to help others to avoid experiencing this MESS.

  BTW, the Power Edge T110II has been certified for use with Ubuntu.  See HERE! But no documentation of actual for this as of yet by Dell. :-(

  I made an installation of archive / install OS 10.4 as part of the maintenance of the system. Today, VMware does not connect to the virtual machine and wants me to check my right to use the program and its directories.

  I recently bought VM Fusion and bought the license / registered. Something to do with installing the OS, maybe, but everything else works well.

  I don't have reinstall Fusion as part of the installation of archive / install.

  I would say that (this will not affect your VMS) because it is an easy thing to do and should decide on problems of permissions on the application itself.

  I added the facebook html code as stated on my page and that you have a facebook window but no life in it. I checked and replaced the html code in both two and placed on the page several times but always the same result. Can someone tell me what I might be missing?

  The Windows Installer Cleanup utility:
  It was created to correct software installations that failed during the installation process and leaving a bunch of files (including a file name that ends with an extension .msi (= MicroSoft Installer .msi). For example an installation failed MS Office (note I said "failed").

  Also if when you installed MS Office you decided at the time you had no need of Power Point and chose not to install it. You find out later you need to make a Power Point presentation, insert the Office CD and try installing PowerPoint and it causes an error.

  The tool using Windows Installer Cleanup will remove damaged installation files (located in C:\Windows\Installer). You then install Office and Power Point, once more, as they are not more present in the list of programs in the Add/Remove Control Panel. But at least this time Office and Power Point will install without errors as the Windows Installer Cleanup utility did what it was designed to do.

  The unfortunate side effect of the cleanup tool is when you select and delete software that works correctly you then will no longer be able to install this software because it is no longer in the Add/Remove Programs list.

  Now as to why there is so many files in the C:\Windows\Installer:
  You will find lots of them. MSI files belong to software such as Java, Microsoft .NET Framework software AV, Norton Ghost, file downloaded during a Windows Update session and so on. It would seem that some software will clean up after itself and deletions, this is the file that were in the folder C:\Windows\Installer. Windows Update failure will create and leave the folders and files behind every time that you try to install the update and so you could end up with a large number of files taking up disk space.

  It could also be a lot of files (is most needed) orphans.
  If you still have the original Windows Installer Cleanup utility, and then by using the msizap (msizap g!) command removes all cached Windows Installer data files that have been orphaned.

  I have a 1 GHz Power Book 17 "G4 under OS 10.5.8, 256 KB of L2 cache. 1 MB of L3 cache. 1 GB of DDR SDRAM with 13,78 GB available on the hard disk, and I'm unable to install Firefox 5. I managed to download the app but when I tried to install it, the message came that "cannot open the application"Firefox"because it is not supported on this architecture". However, when I checked the configuration required before downloading the application requirements have been met-

  I have a new C660 satellite which is a great wee machine, BUT every time I have to unplug the power cable wireless loses internet connection. Wireless is fine and precise of all parameters. I checked the that changed the power settings and they are defined to be ok on battery or power.

  But still I can't unplug the power cable without losing the warless connection. The modem is always on and functioning and still more strongly I can access other people's s wireless connections while being offline.

  I am currently working on installing wifi in a very big house.  I have an Airport Extreme, also located as possible with multiple Airport Express branching.  There is always a part of the House that receives no signal wifi however.  Here's my question: is - it possible with this configuration, to add another extreme from the Airport via the ethernet connection in where the extreme original is located at a location between the extreme original and the section that does not have WiFi, then plug an express airport out of the extreme (cable) second?  running ethernet all the way, he will not be able to happen and ethernet over powerline adapters not working already on this distance.

  Sure. Run the cable from one of the LAN <>- ports on your "main" AirPort Extreme to the "O" WAN port on the AirPort Extreme distance.

  Use Apple install "wizard" to configure the remote AirPort Extreme "extend using Ethernet" and it automatically adapts the AirPort Extreme to use the same wireless network name being the "main" extreme.  The following example shows an AirPort Express... you would see an AirPort Extreme on your screen during installation.

  

  The AirPort Express's power off, wait a few seconds, then it to power up. It will then pick up the signal from the closest AirPort Extreme.

  I think also that the HARD drive is troublemaker of disorders and the reason why you cannot install OS correctly so I agree with you 100%.
  Exchange the HARD disk with a new or another and test the installation of the OS. I recommend using Win7 on this machine. I also use it on my A300 and it works perfectly.

  I read some horror stories about Toshiba users who have tried a BIOS update, although Windows like Toshiba recommends, and their computers got fried. It seems that it was a problem experienced by Toshiba (I mean that they knew the question users face tried updating the BIOS thei), which they tried to resolve with this latest version of the BIOS.

  Has anyone tried this update and I share his opinion? Is it a go come or not?

  To be honest I ve read also several horror stories in this forum on the BIOS update, but the question is do this people do BIOS update following the instructions of Toshiba.
  Can you imagine that some people make recovery installation or update of the BIOS on power electric battery? And when the cell phone cut because of the empty battery then it is Toshiba's fault of course.

  I did several times on different laptops upgrade BIOS and everything goes well.
  The fact is, all available BIOS updates are tested.

  Can you please send us the exact laptop model name or model number? I want to check the BIOS update is available for your model of laptop.
