Installation of VmVisor v 5.0.0

I try to install VMvisor v 5.0.0 on a server, but I get the following error, once the server starts on the CD:
Loading tboot.b00
Multiboot header is not found.
/tboot. B00: kernel is invalid or damaged.
Fatal error: 36 (bad guy)

Can someone help me with this?

Hello firas123,

First of all you should do is check the ISO MD5 signature that you downloaded. Probably, it is not downloaded correctly and contains a few errors (you can check the size of the file). I suggest to download again and see if that solves your problem.

You can check your MD5 with the following KB: http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=1537

VMware provides the correct MD5 sum on the download page for each file. Compare the MD5 sum output generated with the value posted on the VMware Web site. If the values do not match, download a new copy of the file that you have is damaged or incomplete.

Good luck!

Please give points for the correct answer.

  • The PXE using HP on ISO measure fails to start with GROUP

I have successfully configured a PXE boot using the VMware ESXi 4.1 Update 1 ISO version.  There is a complicated configuration that must be done to make it work (essentially described here: http://www.jayakumar.org/esx/pxe-boot-vmware-esxi-4-1-and-manual-install/):

-Create a folder in which copy the source files for the installation ISO.

-Copy the file "imagedd.bz2" on a Linux machine.

    -mkdir Pei usr/lib/vmware/Installer /.

    -mv imagedd.bz2 usr/lib/vmware/installer/VMware-VMvisor-big-4.1.0-348481-x86_64.dd.bz2

    -tar cvzf image.tgz usr /.

-Copy the file "image.tgz" in the location of the soure file.

-Place a copy of the file "pxelinux.0" (from version 3.0 of syslinux) in the location of the source file

-Create a folder called "pxelinux.cfg; Copy the isolinux.cfg file in the pxelinux.cfg file and rename it to 'default '; Edit the file 'default' by adding '-image.tgz ' to the line append.

If I do the same exact process using ISO custom of HP, the PXE install fails with a GROUP shown here:

    PXE_PSOD.jpg

Anyone know what could be the problem?  I tried the version from the download site of VMware as well as directly from HP.

I just had the same GROUP while trying to start an image constructed from HP 4.1_U1_Apr_2011_ESXi_HD_USB_SDImgeInstlr_Z7550_00096.iso

In my case the problem is proved to be bad tar format image.tgz

Student vmkernel.log I found visorfstar: entrance to complain about wrong image file.

When I tried to convert uncompressed image.tar vmtar vgz reported: invalid tar: 'ustar'

so I 'reconditioned' image.tgz with the utility tar anchored in esxi console and it worked finally.

  • After the installation of the VMware-VMvisor-Installer-6.0.0.update02-3620759.x86_64-Dell_Customized-A01 ssh service fails

    Hello

yesterday, I upgraded a few of my guests ESXi to VMware-VMvisor-Installer-6.0.0.update02-3620759.x86_64-Dell_Customized-A01.iso

But after the restart, everything works well except the SSH daemon.

I can not connect via SSH to host more. In the settings, everything seems well, ssh daemon is running, and firewall ports are open.

    Something wrong with this version?

OK, fixed. It was a problem with an older version of PuTTY.

In the log file, you will find something like:

    auth.log:2016 - 05-07 T 12: 58:09Z sshd [164893]: error: Hm, kex protocol error: type 30 seq 1

If the old version of PuTTY had the bad protocol settings. You can change it in Putty SSH parameters - KEX to change the order of the algorithm and put "Diffie-Hellman group Exchange" at the bottom.

Or better yet, download a newer version of PuTTY. It is fixed in newer versions

    Hello

VMware ESXi is a bare metal hypervisor, so you install it directly on your hardware and not on your Windows operating system.

For the test, you can install ESXi inside a virtual machine. Download VMware Player, create a virtual machine and install the ESXi inside:

You have the RAM installed in what locations? If you use a CPU, I think that you need a stick in the first slot of orange, ignore the following location Orange and install the second stick in the third slot orange.

  • The Vcops error (VMware-vcops - 5.8.0.0 - 1448123 - vapp.ova) on VMware ESXi (VMware-VMvisor-Installer - 5.5.0 - 1331820.x86_64.iso)

    Hi all

I am a novice in this area and to learn.

I installed VMware ESXi 5.5 in one of my machine and it works through VMware player. Am also able to connect to VMware ESXi 5.5 via Vsphere Client 5.5 on my machine. Through my research on the internet I found that vCenter Server is required only when we have the large number of ESXi to manage (correct me if I'm wrong). In my case, I have only one. Therefore, I have not installed vCenter Server.

Now, I want to deploy vCops with VMware ESXi 5.5 5.8. But while deploying OVF template(VMware-vcops-5.8.0.0-1448123-vapp.ova), I get the following error.

    Err1.JPG

My understanding above is correct or am I missing something obvious?

    Hi RizQad,

According to the guidelines of the screenshot, you connect directly to the host ESXi 192.168.0.49 and the error is reported through the OVF vCOPs. It's expected, because the ESXi host do not understand the purpose of vAPP, as explained in my initial comment.

You need to connect to your IP vCVA i.e. 192.168.0.51 using the vSphere client and then import the OVF vCOPs.

Let me know if you still experience this issue.

    Hi Robin

Assuming your XXXX refers to PAKs of Cisco, the Cisco PAKs, you received should be exchanged through the VMware specific OEM portal. You will then receive emails of VMware with the VMware license. It is these received licenses of VMware, which can then be placed in the portal of VMware licenses so that they can be stored and managed.

The following links explain the entire procedure and the second link contains a video showing the process.

But the installer 6.0 only to find the drive on the first controller (Slot 1).

    I used VMware-VMvisor-Installer - 6.0.0 - 2494585.x86_64.iso.

I was able to install and everthing workes of other purpose, except the disk on the second controller P400.

In/proc/driver/cciss/cciss * all this drive listed there.

Anyone has a suggestion for me

    Thanks Andreas

    Hello

We faced the same problem.  The P400 is no longer supported. Nor is the P600 and I don't think that the P800 is either.  Check the HCL.  You must stay on 5.5.  Same HP dropped support in his favor

VMware KB: Obsolete and unsupported features in VMware ESXi 6.0

"Some devices are deprecated in ESXi 6.0. During an upgrade, these device drivers can still be installed on ESXi 6.0 host and can continue to function, but the device is no longer officially supported on ESXi 6.0 "

So basically you are lucky that he finds at least one of them.  Weird he did not find the two, but no matter what is not supported

    Hello world

I have problems installing ESXi 5.5 u2 on a card mother MSI MPower X99S.

    Questions:

No not initially on "out of resources" when loading tools.t00 (think it was solved by loading from a USB drive (UNetbootin used to create) instead of a CD.) Also updated sata-xahci - 1.10 - 1.x86_64.vib)

Now the system crashes just after loading imgpayld.tgz with error "cannot resolve the circular movement".

    The system is as follows:

    Card mother MSI X99S MPower

Any help is much appreciated and needed!

    Hello world

I managed to solve it in a roundabout way.

I gave the card combination mother/cpu/ram and swapped the Council, ram and cpu out to a different core I7 with 32 GB memory ddr3 Ram.

Installing ESXI on this other configuration (motherboard is GA - X 79 - UD3) I discovered that ESXI captures not software raid created by the bios of the motherboard and I bought an Intel RS2WG160 raid controller and battery, updated the BIOS RAID intel, set up the raid that I needed and installed ESXI without any problem (VIB files after uploading the last VIB for the http://www.v-front.de/2013/11/how-to-make-your-unsupported-sata-ahci.html sata and the technical support site offers Intel)

Once I had installed ESXi, I decided to try to swap the GA - X 79 - UD3 mobo, ram and cpu out with my configuration of origin either the MPower X99s, DDR4 RAM (and I7 CPU 5960 X)

, but without having to re - install ESXI.

It worked perfectly for me at this time there

Bottom line - install the ESXI using another mobo, cpu and ram, then those Exchange and restart.

    Hope that helps others

  • ESXi 4.1 installation problem

Current running in an error message when you try to install ESXi 4.1 on a USB stick on a new generation of server. I use the VMware-VMvisor-Installer - 4.1.0 - 260247.x86_64.iso image. After that some research on Google, it seems that there might be a problem of compatibility of equipment? I tried to disable AHCI, unplug the WD drive, by disabling the two network cards. No one changed anything. I have a feeling that maybe that's a problem of compatibility of the mother/cpu card, but I'm not really sure. Any help would be greatly appreciated. • ESXi 3.5 U3 in workstation 6.5 and server 2.0 installation

Setup an ESXi server in a virtual machine seems to be a good approach to test and play arround, I thought...

Compared to the search for a cheap HW to set up a physical ESXi, it should be much easier, I thought...

I am a beginner with ESXi...

Looking arround VMware communities and internet it turns that there seems to be so much confusion

on how to configure a virtual machine as on how to configure a physical server with ESXi!

What I think about the approach of the VM is the following (which can be useful for others...):

    • Setting up ESXi virtual machine seems to be possible with a few tricks, tweaking the vmx file, etc.

    • VMware Workstation 6.0 and 6.5 so that VMware server 2.0 should support this approach.
There seems to be some gurus VMware autour, who has set in motion...

    • It should work on Intel and 'new' AMD dual core CPU.
We should have supported 64-bit virtualization HW and DEP (HW data execution prevention)

    • We should have a 64-bit OS, where we install 2.0 Server or Workstation 6.x, but it is only a requirement, when we intend to run the 64-bit within the limits, no clients?
ESXi from my understanding is not 64 bit application but a 32-bit, right?
So it seems useless for an OS 64 bit on our machine.
If we do so, we need to know, we can only install 32 bit OS in our ESXi server. But this is suffient to test...

So far so good, let's do it. I'll start with the VMware workstation 6.5 I just got.

    My test platform:

    • AMD Athlon 64 X 2 5200 +, 8 GB RAM, card mother ASUS M2N SATA drives, etc.

    • Windows Server 2008 SP1 Datacenter Edition

    • VMware Workstation 6.5.1 build-126130

    What I did then:

    • Installation of a new virtual machine in VMware workstation with these settings:
      -OS comments: other
      -2 processors
-1048 MB RAM (have seen comments saying 1 GB is not enough, need a little more than 1 GB)
      -VMware HW version: 6.5
-10 GB disk, SCSI, persistent, preallocated not (you can also use allocated in advance, if you have enough free space)
      -1 bridged NETWORK adapter
-3 custom maps (VMnet3), for later use...

    • CD/DVD (IDE): connected to ISO: F:\VMware6.5-VMs\VMware-VMvisor-InstallerCD-3.5.0_Update_3-123629.i386.iso

    • Did not start the virtual machine now but check/add something to the vmx file created:
      -Add the following:
      Monitor.virtual_exec = "hardware".
monitor_control.enable_svm = 'TRUE' (for AMD, but this seems to be an old not more necessary framework for ESXi 3.5 U3?, not sure so left in it)
      monitor_control.restrict_backdoor = 'TRUE '.

If you have INTEL CPU, use:
monitor_control.vt32 = 'TRUE' (for Intel, but this seems to be an old not more necessary framework for ESXi 3.5 U3?)

-Check the following lines and correct if necessary:
      scsi0.virtualDev = "free".
      ethernet0.virtualDev = "e1000".
      Ethernet1.virtualDev = "e1000".
      ethernet2.virtualDev = "e1000".

    ethernet3.virtualDev = "e1000".

  • Then propelled to the top of the virtual machine:
    -L'installation began of the ISO
    - And now he's going very slowly...
After about 3 or 4 h this typical yellow screen disappears and a black rises!

  • - [F11] displays some strange error messages, see attached screenshot
    -Installation appears to hang now...
-Oh no, he's just a little (the installation screen initial is again coming (welcome...) Please select CANCEL / REPAIR / INSTALLATION)
Of course, the virtual machine has restarted but there is no bootable on the boot disk installation?

It's at least the 5th or 6th attempt to operate, very frustrating!
Wait for, after all these good and useful, advice I found before.

Question: Why does close to 4 hours, then ANDS upward with an unbootable installation?

Anyone has an idea what is wrong?

What Workstaiton 6.5, which is causing the problem

Even I did something stupid ot totally wrong?

What these error messages (see attached)?

Obviously, they have developed at the beginning of this facility and then it happened.

Tomorrow will try the same server 2.0...

    Any help appreciated,

    Hans

What jmattson forgets to tell you, is that workaround for version 0F the AMD CPU is always available in workstation 6.0.x

It has been removed for ease of maintenance of the code and well... the processor will forever be...

So you should be able to get ESX running under Workstation 6.0.x

Another clue is that the families of processors numbers are written in hexadecimal notation not in decimal form as humans like to use...

We programmers tend to forget that you ignore maybe 0F (hex) = 15 (dec) and only 10 (hex) = 16 (dec)

So 10 (H) is just family version 16 and you're still on 15.
