Installation of Windows XP on Equium U400

Hi guys,.

Like many others, I want to install Windows XP pro (64-bit) on my Equium U400-146 part number: PSU42E-004003KS machine. Advise me guys it would be a wise decision to do so, because I doubt that if pilots could work or not. Good drivers that seem to be available on the Toshiba site but I don't also know that windows xp drivers can be used for windows xp pro (64-bit) or not?

Please suggest!

Thank you all.

Windows XP on Toshiba drivers driver European page are designed for 32 bit Win XP and don't work with Win 64 bit OS.

  • Motherboard for Satellite U400-15E work Equium U400-124?

    Hello

My graphics card died on my U400 - 124 & I said that the motherboard must be replaced.
I found one for a Toshiba U400-15 and I was wondering if that will enter my chassis.
It's ok if I have to reformat my hard drive & reinstall windows.

Here's what he said on that I found.

    A000060020
    Motherboard Toshiba U400 - 15th

    Compatible with A000027670 A000060020 31TE1MB01N0

I have attached a picture of my model below.

    Any help is really appreciated

According to the image of the Equium U400-124 belongs to the series of PSU42E

Satellite U400-15E belongs to the PSU44E, but both series are very similar, and I guess that the motherboard could be compatible... the presentation of the motherboard seems even if from my point of view of a few you should be able to install this card.

  • Upgrade of the disk HARD Equium U400-145

    Hello

I have a Toshiba Equium U400-145 and the vehicle currently has Windows 7 on it and a 160 GB hard drive. Is it possible to move on to bigger hard drive (1 TB) and if so I can use another external HARD disk (that is, connected by USB) to take an image of the current using Clonezilla, then make the hardware upgrade and restore the image to the new drive once its equipped? (Or Windows 7 will need to be reinstalled)?

Theoretically, it should be possible. Clonezilla is unknown to me, but in the past, many people have done a similar thing with other applications like Acronis. In your case, I think you need to use Clonezilla Live.

U400 is God machine and works perfectly with Windows 7. I don't know if you were able to install it perfectly including all necessary drivers, tools and utilities.
Return to the modernization of the HARD drive. I did not have this machine and can not say for sure is everything going to be OK, but I think that new HARD drive should be recognized correctly with full capacity of 1 TB.

No idea how I can Flash the bios?

Equium U400 is not supported by Win, so I don t think you could improve the BIOS to win 8.

As much as I know BIOS update requires some essential Toshiba software that must be installed.
For example, the value of Toshiba additional package must be installed in order to start the update of the BIOS.
I think you have goo channes update of the BIOS of the laptop running with factory settings. I mean using the system preinstalled by Toshiba.

But why you want to update the BIOS?
BIOS should be updated as a last possibility to solve the problems of the laptop.

  • Equium U400 - laptop screen goes black

Just recently, my laptop Equium U400 problems when opening upward. The light of the screen was unstable for seconds (flicker) and then the screen lost light, although we could see the office, but dark "negatively". It would take a few attempts to close and open the lid so that the computer goes into hibernation mode and then resume, to try to get the screen working well.

The problem persists and I don't know if this is due to a software or certain conflicts from windows or it's a hardware problem.
    Any ideas?

It is not easy to understand and not possible to give you a good solution.
It can be the display problem, it can be FL inverter problem but troublemaker may also be the display cable.

In my opinion, it is material on the issue and I fear you need professional help with this m.

  • HD recovery folder / repartitioned Equium U400-124

My Equium U400-124 is a little and a couple of years, I have merged the two partitions to facilitate the storage of the data a bit. This left file recovery HARD drive in a folder named 'merged-partition-content' and all the rest of the main partition of C.

I now get to a point when I think that I should consider a return to factory default, but the boot process fails to find the folder in HARD drive recovery, and even if I used the hot spare when the computer was first purchased, how he would negotiate the new partition?

    Any ideas?

When the structure of HARD drive partitions is changed or moved from portable place original HARD drive recovery file will be confused and will conclude not just her more. For this reason, you are not able to start the installation of HARD drive recovery.

Now you can install Vista original image, I think, using recovery only DVDs.

    Hello may

Icon on the screen is just shortened. Please click the button Vista break-ins in the search in all Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator programs. I hope that you will have it in the list on the top of this window to start and you will be able to start this tool.

Otherwise, recovery media can be ordered under https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx

    Hi all

My Toshiba Equium U400-145 is eventually died after a number of evidence of years of hard work!

I bought a disc docking sata hard and recovered a number of data on my new computer.
The problem is that it is only about half of the data, and especially not the elements of my old office of computers.

Someone at - it ideas how I'd go about obtaining these files?

I install XP on the Equium U400, but I can't find the drivers for the following items:

    PCI

    Mass storage controller

    SM Bus controller

Also the audio driver doesn't seem to work properly, even if Device Manager does not report a problem.
    Any help is appreciated.

    Allan

I can see Equium U400 is fully supported for Windows XP Home edition.
Have you installed all the available stuff, especially the Storage Manager?

What settings do you have in the BIOS for SATA (BIOS advanced settings)?

  • Equium U400-145 memory problems

Hi, I have the laptop above and I had used it for a long time with 3 GB of memory.

The system has two locations and in the bottom, I had 1 GB and above, I got 2GB. The system came with 2 x 1 GB and I have kept a module provided and added a new bought Toshiba 2 GB module. The memory is PA3513S-1M2G
    2 GB memory PC2 DDR2 (667 MHz).

I have just updated to Windows 7. Before I was constantly this that I swapped the two modules autour system crashed when loading, with a screen blue with the Windows startup screen, saying there was a problem with my computer and he was going to shut down to avoid damage. He said I check any recently installed hardware.

If I have Exchange modules around again, it works great, even on Windows 7, 64-bit.

I updated the BIOS to ver 4.00 but the same happens.

I recently bought another 2 GB module to keep the system up to 4 GB, but I have determined that the system will keep crash at startup if:
-the lower slot has 2 GB with the upper part with 2 GB
-the top slot has 2 GB and below is empty
-the bottom has 2 GB and higher has 1 GB

If the bottom has 2 GB it works, just as superior with 2 GB and 1 GB lower!

There is clearly something wrong with the ability of the system to deal with memory. [Another poster | http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?messageID=154992𥵰] asked on memory max capacity of this system and its investigation was * bad * responded indicating that this system may have only 2 GB. * This is completely false * as I've used it with 3 GB without problem for 1 year.

If anyone can help I would be extremely grateful.

    Hello

Equium U400-145 has been equipped with Mobile Intel® GL960
    Express Chipset. Is this good?

Here are some features of this chipset:
    http://www.Intel.com/products/Notebook/chipsets/GL960/GL960-overview.htm

As you can see the chipset handles the 533 Mhz max modules, so you can use 667 Mhz, but the modules will run at 533 Mhz ONLY

Here you can find the chipset specifications:
    http://www.Intel.com/assets/PDF/datasheet/316273.PDF

    Point 1.3:
There you can clearly find the info that chipset supports 2 GB RAM max and modules are limited to DDR2 533 Mhz!

Maybe you were able to use the 3 GB of RAM but the chipset has a limitation, and usually the most memory RAM is not supported.

  • WIFI works only under Windows XP on Satellite U400

After the installation of Windows XP on my WLAN the U400 recovery is not found. It was working correctly under Win Vista.
There is no module listed in Device Manager - once the new hardware search gave no results. It seems that the WLAN Interface is not recognized by Win XP.

The Communication switch at the front was 'ON' - bluetooth works properly.

It's amazing to me usually the XP should see and recognize the device inserted as an unknown device, if a driver has not been installed.

But you're right. It looks like the U400 should be equipped with the Realtek 802.11(b/g) 13ch-RTL8187B Wlan card

Have you tried the driver from the Web to Realtek site?

  • Equium U400-124 - disk read error

    Hi guys

I have (had?) a laptop Toshiba Equium U400-124 with Vista Home Premium 32 installed.

Last night, it crashed, so I rebooted and a message came with «playing a disc error occurred, press ctrl + alt + delete to restart»

He reappeared when I did the above.
When I brought, then created a "vista recovery disc" on my desktop pc and tried, I don't receive any of discs/DVDs with the pc.

It says "windows is loading files", passes through the part of windows 'Hourglass', but then just hangs on a screen black (the arrow cursor is visible and mobile).
I left it overnight after trying a multitude of times, but remains black.

    Clues?

I have read that I need an original disc to boot from Vista?

    Concerning

    Hello

First you didn t receive the recovery because the portable disk was equipped with HARD drive recovery option and the Toshiba recovery disc creator software.
This software would you create an own Toshiba Recovery disk!

The European driver Toshiba page provides the Package of Robson.
This package contains the necessary SATA drivers.
You can find it in the Winall\Driver folder
There are files that are needed to recognize the disk by the Vista!

The fact is that the notebooks support a SATA HDD controller and the necessary drivers are not part on the Windows operating system.

First install the SATA, then the Vista drivers. This should help!

  • Mac lost during the installation of windows

When installing windows on a MAC, I deleted my partition mac completely and I am now left with windows 7 to my mac book air. Y at - it an option to install mac, I don't mind losing the windows partition

    Hello smarthala,

Thank you for using communities of Apple Support.

I see that you deleted by mistake your Mac partition during the installation of Windows. The partition itself deleted or was it the Mac OS that has been erased, leaving an empty partition?

If the latter, you can reinstall OS X from OS X Recovery. See this article for how that should be done: On OS X Recovery
Otherwise, you can use Internet recovery (Command-Option-R, as opposed to the command-R) to repartition the entire hard drive and install the version of Mac OS X provided on your Mac. Who is finished, you can upgrade to El Capitan via the App Store > bought.

    Best regards.

  • Bootcamp: Installation of Windows 10 USB cannot find bootcamp partition

    Hello

I deleted the old partition 10 windows using bootcamp, upgrade of the space itself.

I ran BootCamp again to set up windows 10 pro, as I had already installed on my end 2012 21.5 "iMac and the wizard successfully install on a USB stick, my Windows 10 ISO and any software downloaded from Apple.

After restarting, start the configuration of Windows 10 until the selection of the partition.

I, as the statement says, choose partition, BOOTCAMP and Format. Then I click Next, but the Windows says:

    "I can't create or find a partition...". »

So I can't install it... What is going on? How can I fix this as never before appeared?

    Thank you

  • delete the partition after a failed installation of windows 10

    Hello world

How is it possible to delete partitions, if in disk utility, there is no possibility to click on the '-' key?

So I made a failure (several) attempts to install windows 10 on my new iMAC.

I could download an ISO of windows and start the bootcamp assistant.

In the last attempt of last night, I selected the bootcamp in windows installation partition, however, installing windows said it was impossible to read the hard drive.

I then re-formatted this partition (BOOTCAMP) in the installation of windows, and after that, still could not read.

Then, I deleted the bootcamp partition in windows and re-created a partition on "unallocated space" in the windows installation.

Installing windows 10 still wouldn't move forward then I've bailed out and went back to OS X with the hope of turning it back on (again) by deleting partitions.

I was unable to delete the Mac partition.

Then, I deleted this partition (the one original bootcamp) and reformatted as OS x journaled. At least now, I can see the Partition.

However in Diskutil, I was then impossible to delete this Partition. There is also a small partition 16 MB that cannot be erased.

Wizard bootcamp will be past a pop up station: the startup disk cannot be partitioned or restored to a single partition.

So I will now try to delete these partitions (the boy and the training camp original one) merge into the original and give then installing bootcamp, another go when I have a lot of energy!

any help would be appreciated. I'm a little cautious to use Terminal command lines for fear of ruining my new computer.

    concerning

    Evan

    1. your iMac has a Fusion drive?

    2. don't mix to disk utility and Wizard of BC. They can lead to a host of issues.

    3. If you do not typos in the Terminal, they provide much more rich in detail. You have a Time Machine backup, put in place?

4 can you post the output of the following Terminal commands?

    diskutil list

    Cs diskutil list

    sudo TPG - vv - r see the/dev/disk0

    sudo fdisk/dev/disk0

The "sudo" commands will prompt to enter your password, and there do not appear to come back. You can also see caution against improper use 'sudo' and the potential loss of data due to an "abuse" of the order.
