Installation of XP SP1 on a lenovo T61

I can't make it work: Device Manager displays all important devices (ethernet controller network controller (wifi I presume), video controller) all suspended off the coast of the other devices node, with the yellow question marks and exclamation points.

I copied all the packages that appear to be vaguely relevant to the downloads page, it seems that some of them do not kick, because my XP is SP1. Someone knows what to do to get get the XP SP1 will?

TIA!

Can't you manually download SP3 on the computer where you post here: -.

Transfer to your average T61 as a USB key later.

    Hi bert958,

Sounds like a motherboard, probably a dead fuse problem.

But because the fuses are soldered, you will need a new motherboard unless you can fix it yourself.

  • Lenovo T61 - 7663-AY2 uninstall Vista SP1 to SP2 and now cannot restart

    Hello community,

I did something wrong with my Lenovo computer.

I tried to upgrade vista SP1 to SP2 in order to continue to receive updates from windows, but I failed to improve.

I read on a forum that to go if you have some difficulties to move from SP1 to SP2, the best thing to do is to uninstall SP1, in order to re-install again and after the update to SP2 is easy.

So I uninstalled Vista SP1: KB936330 from my laptop and now it cannot restart. I'm facing the famous! 0xc01a001d! registry error.

I tried all content restoration factory (MS DOS, restoring from the last restore point), but it cannot restart.

Is there a usual thing do in this case, before the start in the order, he returned with the factory setting?

My warranty expired on September 21, 2010, and I bought my computer in France while I am in England now.

Thanks a lot for your help.

  • Problem with Windows Update after the new installation of Windows 7 Pro the Lenovo ThinkPad X 200

I'm trying to do a fresh install of Windows 7 Pro on a Lenovo ThinkPad X 200. The product key is easy to find on the sticker of the ThinkPad. However, the version of Windows is hidden (for example, I can't check that my ThinkPad had originally installed Windows 7 Pro). I was able to install by using a Pro Win 7 SP1 CD ROM I bought for another installation. I used the ThinkPad I was trying to make the new facility on the product key. I was able to activate the Windows 7 Pro using the phone call and my cell phone. I checked the activation! However, I have problems with Windows update. The product key may be a different version of Windows 7. If so, why did it install and activate OK? Y at - it a fix for this problem or I have to buy a new version of Windows 7 Pro? Please note that I have not yet installed all drivers Lenovo ThinkPad as I can't seem to install correctly. Thank you!

Since the issue is updated to Windows, it is not a product number key.

You can reset the Windows Update components by running the Fixit on this page. But if there is malware present, she will continue to reset the connection to the update servers:

Suggest you download and save the Fixit. Then configure the system before the clean boot by running:

Once the Fixit has been downloaded and the system is started in the pure State, check that the native Windows Firewall is now on if a 3rd party firewall has been used previously. Now run the Fixit and choose the default mode. Restart once it's done and see if the system can be connected to the update servers. If he can't, then rerun the Fixit and choose aggressive mode. Turn it back on when he finished the race and updates.

    sp1mare,
If your system is equipped with a recovery partition and not a Vista DVD, then you will need to check with the manufacturer for information on how to access and what options are available.  If the options give you the Recovery Console , you can then run the Startup Repair tool.

If you are not able to access the recovery console, then you can try to start in Safe Mode with command prompt.  From there you can then run the

System File Checker.  See if these elements to help and let us know.

  • Low speed SSD on Lenovo T61

I bought new SSDS OCZ Vertex2 120 GB for my laptop, but the speed of R/Wr is low - max 140 MB/s (support SSD up to 260 MB/s) & problems with the FirmWare update are performed.

    It is a Chipset problem?

    This is a BIOS problem.

    old BIOS:

    new hacked BIOS

did you update the bios SATAII? in the contrary case, the laptop is limited to SATAI speed, that's why you see only the limit of 140 MB/s.

If you did not upgrade, then you should try bios update of Middleton.

  • Purchase and installation of the internal battery on lenovo t450s

Hi, I was wondering if it was possible to install an internal battery in a t450s (repackaged without internal battery) and if so, where I could buy the battery.

It seems to me that the internal battery of T450s is the same as those on the T440s. You can access it by removing the rear cover. I shows that there are 3 numbers (different suppliers). 45N1773, 45N1111 and 45N109. They can be purchased directly from Lenovo (by IBM) or eBay. IBM link is:

  • IdeaPad Y400 keyboard broken after installation of Ubuntu. Sent in, Lenovo has sent back still broken.

I have a Y400 Ideapad, purchased in December 2012, delivered with Windows 8. He has recently due to a malfunction after trying to install Ubuntu as a secondary OS. It was very difficult to get installed Ubuntu because UEFI and Secure Boot really tried to stop him, but I have finally installed it and the two operating systems, has been working for about 24 hours. Then, Ubuntu was able to start. On several occasions. Then I started Windows and it seemed that he was working again, except that from time to time when I tried typing, the keyboard type keys I had not touched and then stop responding for about 30 seconds. After that, it would still work for a little while.

I ran OneKey Recovery to try to solve this problem, wiping my hard drive and reinstall Windows 8 from scratch. Still doesn't solve it. He actually glitched once while I was still setting to the top of my Windows profile, before he had even started for the first time.

So I sent my laptop for Lenovo and, a week later, they sent back with a new keyboard (despite me telling them that it probably wasn't the problem). He worked for the next few days, but as of today, he started glitching again, much. I don't want to send my laptop for Lenovo again because I need for the class I'm taking. Also, when they sent it the first time, they have not even put it together right. The rear panel was not at bottom, and panel below which was actually folded so that one of its tabs fit on the side of my laptop instead of being inside.

I really need to solve this problem, but I'm doubting the capacity of Lenovo to do, and I don't want keep it will send if it simply means that I won't have a laptop for 1-2 weeks and then I'll get it broken back yet more. Also, I need even Ubuntu, even if they do not fix it then I have to reinstall Ubuntu and it will probably break again. Not to mention, they will probably wipe my data from it.

    Found a thread discussing this:

    http://forums.Lenovo.com/T5/IdeaPad-Y-U-V-Z-and-P-series/IdeaPad-Y400-keyboard-auto-typing-and-out-o...

Turns, the Y400s have a defect. If you select always "on USB" in the BIOS / menu UEFI, it messes up your keyboard. I have activated it when I was trying to get my computer to recognize a USB boot.

I'm surprised a Lenovo support is not already aware of it. I talked to Lenovo about a dozen employees, including a supervisor and a representative of the customer relationship and no one suggested she could relate to my BIOS settings.

  • Installation of Vista SP1 with Windows Disk

My computer (hp slimline s3773w) would never let me install the sp1.  I bought from a disk to install the sp1, but I him did not because of too much to lose.  What would be the best way to get sp1 is installed on my computer.  This is the full version of windows vista and not an upgrade.

I wouldn't use the disc to do this.  I would download SP1 from Microsoft to http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/bb738089.aspx and simply download and install it.  Until you do, run Windows update to make sure you're ready for Sp1 and up to date.  Once you have installed SP1 and updates with Windows Update - then and there will be a lot more and download and install them as well.  When you are finished you can then download and install SP2 http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=a4dd31d5-f907-4406-9012-a5c3199ea2b3&DisplayLang=en.  Once done, yet once run Windows unsuccessfully to catch up on what youv'e missed since SP2 has been relased and then you should be completely up to date.

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!

  • Lenovo t61 no display, only if I connect an external monitor.

I started using my lenovo with a second screen, but then after a few days the main screen of my laptop has stopped working, and I can use it only to the secondary monitor. If I put windows 'Add' screens and I close and open the laptop, for about 1 second I can see some images, but the resolution does not, the colors are a strange shade of blue, and there are horizontal lines on the screen. Then it goes black again.

I assumed it was a GPU problem, maybe overheating? But then I thought well, the secondary monitor works, so maybe it's just a display problem.

Any ideas on how to solve this problem? I've had this laptop second hand so I have no warranty, I want to rule out any software problem before buying new pieces or even a new laptop.

    Thank you!
