Lenovo T61 - 7663-AY2 uninstall Vista SP1 to SP2 and now cannot restart

Hello community,

I did something wrong with my Lenovo computer.

I tried to upgrade vista SP1 to SP2 in order to continue to receive updates from windows, but I failed to improve.

I read on a forum that to go if you have some difficulties to move from SP1 to SP2, the best thing to do is to uninstall SP1, in order to re-install again and after the update to SP2 is easy.

So I uninstalled Vista SP1: KB936330 from my laptop and now it cannot restart. I'm facing the famous! 0xc01a001d! registry error.

I tried all content restoration factory (MS DOS, restoring from the last restore point), but it cannot restart.

Is there a usual thing do in this case, before the start in the order, he returned with the factory setting?

My warranty expired on September 21, 2010, and I bought my computer in France while I am in England now.

Thanks a lot for your help.

Mitch

-creation of a true recovery/repair disk (Toshiba only sent a system recovery disc, not a repair disk) and attempt to run the repair from here (nothing was fixed and instead restart, he went to a black screen)

NOTHING works! I can't boot my system, and frankly I'm furious that Microsoft has failed to solve this problem for 3 YEARS according to assignments in these and other forums. I've always been a devout person PC - a bit too elitist for me to Apple. But I am absolutely disgusted that I potentially have to do a complete reinstall, including downloading all my software again for all my other programs.

I am the Coordinator of health care for the County, I live in, have 3 kids to take care of and frankly, did not have the time to deal with this kind of setback. I worked on ALL this DAY, ruining the Superbowl Sunday, something that the people at Microsoft obviously don't care no difficulty. That tells you how much they care about customer support, I guess.

If anyone has found a viable solution to this problem that CREATED Microsoft with an update that was supposed to IMPROVE their Vista defective product, please, please, help! I wish I had never entered in this horrible computer vacuum! Only, I tried to download this update because I received an email from Microsoft that offers a download of Windows 2010 beta to try, and everyone spoke of so many Windows 2007 (unlike Vista) I thought I would give it a try - only to find out that I had to have SP1 to install 2010. I feel I'm in a Kafka story.

  • KB3097877 installed on my Lenovo X 200 yesterday and now cannot restart

First, the reboot screen is in a loop, so I tried to restart in safe mode. That would allow me to login, but then in a loop. I tried to restore to the point before the patch, but I get a message 0x8000ffff saying that it has failed and I need to talk to the administrator. Can get and run diagnostics but all removes fine - memory, boot etc.

All welcome advice on how to work around this problem.

  • I updated to XP from SP1 to SP2 and rec'd an investigation re firewall to block xrxfptlt. I can't locate any file containing this sequence

    Original title: what is xrxfptlt?

I updated to XP from SP1 to SP2 and rec'd an investigation re firewall to block xrxfptlt. I can't locate any file containing this sequence, including any system or hidden files. A search in the registry also has given no result for this combination of letters. Does anyone have an idea?

    Hello

You are probably referring to xrxftplt.exe. xrxftplt.exe is located in a subfolder of "C:\Program Files".

XrxFTPLt.exe file is a Windows core system file. The program is not visible. Start the application at Windows startup (see registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run). Program has no file description. The file is a reliable file from Microsoft. The program uses ports to connect to LAN or Internet. XrxFTPLt.exe is able to connect to the Internet.

However, some malware camouflage themselves as XrxFTPLt.exe, particularly if they are located in the folder c:\windows or c:\windows\system32. Check the XrxFTPLt.exe process on your computer either on the pest.

I recommend that you use the Microsoft Safety Scanner to run a full scan on your computer to verify if this is a malicious file.

Note: You may lose any infected files by eliminating malware.

  • I don't know if Vista sp1 or sp2 has been installed on the Acer Aspire deskton.

    Hello

A notification came sayng Vista sp1 must be installed. We had just aiinstalle Norton 360, then we have disabled to install Vista sp1. The download is complete and the computer has begun to install three downloads. The first download is installed without problems and went to the 30% bar install the second download when in the middle of the installation, the computer said computer closing screen. I knew we were in trouble, because he read on the screen during the installation do not stop computer during installation. Message came after the computer restarted him comes from message on the black screen, saying that the computer is not close properly and the 0xc01a001d 37038/95074 (\Registry\machine\components\Derived data...). I tried everything to get it started all the suggestions, but still a black screen, the biggest problem with this computer, is there had never been installed sp1, sp2, or any protection because it was purchased, I think that somewhere to 2006 or 2007 may 2008. It is an Acer Aspire desktop computer.

    Thanks again,

    gmax3

If she never had no installed protection because it was purchased, my suggestion is simple, albeit drastic.

Make sure that your backups and serial numbers and product multimedia/installation/etc key is complete and stored on the computer in question.  Restore the system to factory in any way has been given by the OEM, upgrade completely (all service packs and posterior to the service pack updates) and install your anti-virus software. Reinstall your applications on which would not have been restored in the factory reset.  Update all software from third-party manufacturers to their latest versions.  Install all drivers for newer hardware devices.  Restore your personal data on the machine.

You'll find yourself with something you can do better than what you have now.

  • I get the error code following 646 Code when you try to install the service pack 8 updates, sometimes a 9th try to install but also fails. This has happened since 10.15.2009 I am running vista 64 bit SP2 and office 2007
