Installation to Pre-service Pack version of win xp on the hard drives of high capacity
Hello! I have a version of win xp professional - it's the version before he had services packs! I want to install a new HD 1 TB as disk 0 and want to put my xp pro on it, however, the large capacity disks (more than 137MB if memory serves) are not supported by versions of xp before service pack 2. How can I format my new HD and install xp pro and still have the capacity to 1 TB? The HD I replace a service pack 3 on it. Is it possible that I can transfer the pro/sp3 of xp on the new HD or is there some files that I can wear over my installation of xp pro/sp3? Thanks for your help!

Installation problem
Hello
Not much to go here, but I'll try my best.
First of all, I hope that your PC has a floppy drive. If it isn't, this isn't the end of the world, but it will make things much more complicated.
Second, you must make sure that your motherboard BIOS is set according to your desired disk configuration. AHCI or RAID is the best but RAID is only if you want to set up a RAID. If you select IDE maybe you don't need the Setup F6 disk and the driver installation mentioned below.
You have perhaps been provided with F6 floppy by your motherboard manufacturer but, if not, download the XP driver for your SATA controller from the manufacturer's web site and create your own F6 driver diskette.
You must start your PC from the windows CD. Very shortly after the installation starting to show prompted to press F6 to another pilot. You have to hit F6 when you see this prompt. A few minutes later you will be asked to insert the Setup disk and identify your SATA controller. You should be able to continue with the installation later.
It is a simplified version of what needs to be done and only goes up to get the installation to begin.
If you want more specific help you should repost with exactly what installation problem that you are experiencing.

Windows XP Home - I dropped a SP3 installation failure - and continued to my business. Started to get the error message with IE features failed: "mail client is not properly installed.» Advice seemed simple - "set access and default program ' but I couldn't find the options described by 'start' or 'control panel' research brought me to information which"set the default settings of the program"was a feature in SP1.
So, here I am making assumptions. 1. How can I "correctly install customer e-mail (I use aol).» 2. I NEED TO revisit the attempt to install SP3? Did the failure of the installation of the SP3 clear features in SP1? Start a new installation of SP3? Thanks for all the advice (but please enter slowly to more old-but-eager man who yet does not speak "geek" very well). Thanks in advance. -BillIs IE7 or IE8 installed?
Which application should be the default email Client?
To reaffirm the default value: start | Settings | Control Panel | Add/Remove programs. Set Program Access and Defaults. Click on the arrows pointing towards the bottom right of the configuration that is already checked. E-mail: Select Client Mail appropriate here (not "use my current... »).

Assuming that you are running WinXP SP1 or SP2, see...
HOW to get a computer that is running Windows XP SP1 (a) or SP2 fully patched
[You can probably skip step 4]
http://groups.Google.com/group/Microsoft.public.WindowsXP.General/MSG/a066ae41add7dd2bNB: Computers running under that WinXP SP2 will NOT be offered additional updates of security reviews, automatic updates will stop working, and Windows Update Web site will be unavailable after April 12, 2010, until that SP3 is installed.
PS: Free unlimited installation and compatibility for WinXP SP3 support was available from April 14, 2008 to end of May 2009. This support will cost you 59 US$ per incident now.

Yes, you need to reinstall the SATA drivers or you will go to BIOS and set the SATA from AHCI mode to compatible.
But why you don t use the option of searching this forum?
There are a lot of discussions on this subject and it s not necessary to create 1000 threads on exactly the same topic. ;) -

System update readiness tool will take some time, so I suggest you wait a while until the process is completed.

I would suggest trying the following steps and check.
Method 1:
Note: Important this section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs.
Back up the registry - http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Back-up-the-registry
Methods 1 and 2 require changes in the registry to do. Make sure that you back up the registry before you proceed.
I would have you look at the article-

Method 2-
I would have you look at the article-

Note: The Chkdsk command will try to fix bad sectors on the hard drive. All the data on these areas could be lost in the process. It is also possible for the computer to enter in a start State no.
Proceed at your own risk.

Hi BSRC$, in stock
- You have security software installed on the computer?
- You receive an error message when you restart the computer?
Reinstalling Windows XP to the factory setting would not be the first option.
It is possible that some third-party programs or the services installed on the computer interfere with the installation of service pack 3.
I suggest that you try to uninstall service pack 3 from the computer by using the recovery console and subsequently ask the article below for what to do before installing the service pack 3on the computer.

Service pack 3 on my computer but the webcam I bought required service pack 2
I have service pack 3 on my computer, but the webcam I bought required service pack 2. What can I uninstall 3 and make 2?
* original title - I have service pack 3 but need service pack 2 for the webcam
Yes, you can do it.
but there might be a chance that if you last updated your system to sp3, the driver would not work.
That being said, go to the website of the webcam and review their installation instructions because they have updated their software or hardware cam driver for the component that you have purchased.
either way, it seems that the cam was made during the time when xp sp2 was on the market.

Who advised you to 'download... '. RegCure? Doing so could only worse issues! If you ever think that your registry database must be cleaned, repaired, boosted or optimized (it isn't), read http://aumha.net/viewtopic.php?t=28099 and draw your own conclusions.
