Recently upgraded VSA 1.0-> 5.1? If so, she could relate to this. Try to delete the cache of your browser IE & then restart the vSphere client

  • New installation VSA on execution of ESXi 5.1

Can I install VSA on a running system without any of the missing data or host?

Yes. Version 5.1 (or 5.1.1) will allow you to select a part of the local storage for the SBA and keep local storage remaining for already deployed VMs. You should then be able to migrate your virtual machines of local storage for the VSA shared storage that the cluster is created. Finally, there is the possibility to recover the rest of the local storage and forward to the SBA to increase the size of its shared storage space.

A caution - VSA 5.1.x should increase the size of VMFS segment to its maximum value. If this has not already been done on the hosts, the VSA installer will try to restart ESXi hosts for this change to take effect. This means that your virtual machines must be stopped.

If you already have increaed the maximum segment size, then the step to reset is not necessary.

  • Problem installation VSA

After having downloaded 5.0 ESXi, vCenter and VSA 1.0 reviews of my account, I set up a lab and interpreted the following text:

    • Created a domain controller (AD, DNS, etc.)
    • Installed ESXi on 2 hosts (Dell PE710s compatible with the HCL for VSA)
    • Set up a separate physical server and added to the domain.
      • Installed vCenter, vSphere Client, created data center and added guests, added the license key for each host and added hosts to the domain.

Try to install the Manager of VSA as a trial, on the window key license (leave it blank) I get the following error message:
"This instance of vCenter Server license has expired or does not include the feature of vSphere Storage Appliance. Provide a license key valid for the installation"
    .

Launch of vSphere Client, I'm in my 60 day trial.  What Miss me in order to install the eval ASB?

  • VSA configuration and storage before installation of VSA on ESXi

Is someone can you please remind me how storage should be configured on ESXi until I'll start building VSA?

VSA is use the local storage of the ESXi hosts.  Should I use local data warehouses already formatted vmfs or raw devices (volumes) and formats?

Is it true, that, before the installation of VSA, you can no more data VMFS (local) 1 store? If so, this means that VSA will use (use) all available space on the Local data store on the left after installing ESXi (if I'm installing ESXi on local DS as well)?

    Thank you very much!

VSA manager uses the data store local vmfs to create VSA data warehouses. During the creation of the VSA cluster, you can specify the size of the VSA data store. For example if you have the local data store of 500 GB, you can build cluster VSA using 100 GB of space, so you can have several virtual machines on VSA datastore and a few virtual machines on the local data store. There is an option to extend the VSA data store after creation.

  • Install a VSA on existing ESXi installation

    Hi guys,.

We have two local hosts ESXi 5.0 with data warehouses and want to take advantage of VSA, but I'm not sure how to proceed. I don't want to lose all the data and I have 200 GB of free space on each data store.

-Is it possible to install VSA on the free space remaining and migrate a VSA Cluster machine both to free space upp to extend VSA data store?
-J' have also a QNAP NAS with iscsi, this will affect? Can I migrate my virtual machines in the data store and then migrate once VSA Cluster is setuped?
-I was also thinking of getting more disk space and it will be better to build my VSA Cluster on those first, then migrate my VMs and the last step, expand my VSA datastore with the data store original?

    Thank you.

    1. the installation mode that allows you to install VSA in an existing virtual machines is installation of Brownfields. VMware product management Rawlinson made two posts on the same here.

    http://blogs.VMware.com/vSphere/2012/12/vCloud-Suite-vSphere-storage-appliance-VSA-5-1-considerations-for-successful-brownfield-deployments-part-II.html

2 external storage should not be affected with the implementation of VSA.

3 vSphere Storage Appliance 5.1 allows you to extend the storage of the existing unit. There might be some VMs downtime involved, but it is supported.

Most important thing to consider in two node VSA is that the cluster service should work outside of your VSA hosts. So, you need to have a small desk box or any other server in order to run your service. Things are well documented in the Deep Dive technical book by Cormac here...

  • First installation of VSA - placement vcenter

    Hello

I'm looking for VSA configuration for the first time with 2 new servers ESXi 5.1 headquarters x and 1 x new 5.1 ESXi server in a branch.

The plan was for (windows) reasons to put the Vcenter server at the license branch.

We are looking to create a VSA cluster headquarters

I had a few questions about the installation: -.

    • Some guides have said servers require RAID 10 - is this a requirement or can get away you with RAID 5 in smaller environments.
    • I read that its better to have the vCenter outside the cluster, but I also hear that you can't manage the cluster from a subnet of difference. I'm not sure what is best here!
    • Could I use a VC and install the cluster service VSA on the vMA to avoid having to build a virtual windows machine? No doubt, I would need still to install the Manager of VSA on a VM in tbe-branch of windows.

I'm grateful for any advice on any of the above requests?

    See you soon,.

    Huw

1.0 required VSA VC be in the same subnet as the cluster.  We lifted this restriction in 5.1.  The Victoria Cross can be anywhere, in the Branch Office, in the main office, etc.  And in 5.1, we now allow up to 150 clusters be managed from a single instance of VC

Do you have a relationship of distance between the primary SBA and the ASB remote copy?  If the copy relationship SRM may not recognize the storage.  Also is there a test VM on the volume which you will be copying?

    Thanks for your help.

    Faucher

Well well well, you can use the RDBMS synchronization feature to add the new custom provider ACS with its custom attributes that complement the standard list of the IETF.

What you need to do is set the file accountactions.csv with the actions needed to add the new custom as well as its attributes provider.

As a reference to how to implement the accountactions.csv file, please see the following link:

    http://www.Cisco.com/en/us/docs/net_mgmt/cisco_secure_access_control_server_for_windows/4.2/user/guide/A_RDBMS.html#wp148322

Walk through all of the above chapter.

One last thing, you need to find the file of the dictionary for OPNET with their custom attributes.

If you need the fish, just provide the dictionary file and I will make the file for you.

ESXi hosts are in Version 5.5 and newly installed.

After the Installation of the two ESXi hosts, I installed the VCenter 5.5 on the Local storage on servers.

After successful installation and configuration of the new VCenter, I installed the VSA-Manager on the VCenter and perform a brownfield industrial-Installation of the VSA Cluster.

This works all that very well and once the configuration is successful I migrating the VCenter to the local database of one of the among databases VSA ESXi host.

Now, I want to increase the storage capacity of Cluster VSA with available space of the database local after the migration of VCenter.

I now get the following error message:

I'm not able to stop the action of the increased storage capacity.

Can someone help me with this problem?

    Thank you

Yes, the solution solves the VMware Support.

Of more the Strorage stopped working, because the jobed wrote the journal in the database and does not illuminate.

The cancelled Suppprt EIB job remove the log of the database.

I moved the VCenter in another data store (QNAP), which should initially be used for backups of Veeam.

After moving it in another data store, the work of increasing the data store has worked well.

  • material conditions VSA?

Hi all, I have a couple of servers I want to use for esx vsa, can I use different physical servers?

those I have is the two ram 64gig with the same kind of CPU in both (intel E5-2620 x 2) and raid is setup at the same time with the same amount of storage, hard drives same but different, is raid controllers the number one is a Fujitsu and the other is super micro.

Someone think that I would have problems this?

    Thank you

    Steve

Hi, I did a little work on the ASB (with the same type of good servers) but I think you will be ok and it's certainly worth a try. The fact that all the components are the same (with the exception of the RAID controller) should mean that everything will work.

The installation notes refer to a "homogeneous hardware configuration" not identical so I think it will work. The only thing I would say is make sure RAID controllers present the same RAID configurations (RAID10, RAID 6, etc.) as long as they are the same configuration.

Here is the link to the release note that has the installation requirements - http://www.vmware.com/support/vsa/doc/vsphere-storage-appliance-513-release-notes.html

    Hope that helps,

  • Cannot create the VSA cluster: Cluster subnet is invalid. Should not be "network address".

Hello world!  I had two questions on a configuration current VSA that I'm doing for a client.  Installation of urban contaminated sites brownfield version 5.1.1 = Live, running Virtual machines.     Have everything configured, I'm facing 2 problems that may be a common issue throughout the community.

    1. in the configuration of the cluster initial when you are ready to configure the drives of VSA, the wipeout disc around or just what has been configured space wise. My guess is he running virtual machines on the local data store that it will not write on this part but still format how much disk space has been used.

    2. I received, during the vsa cluster configuration, the error message:

Cannot create the VSA cluster: Cluster 192.168.12.0 subnet is invalid. Must not be 192.168.12.0

Now, I saw the article on what it could probably be.  The gateway appears and is correct.  The problem is that I know that the default gateway is not the ping requests.  I corrected it but have not begun installation because of the question #1 above.  Since the gateway is now who responded, what would be the possible resolution.  Thanks in advance to all those who support!

    Hey Nate,

You're right about the behavior of the cluster wizard.  It does not consume space and leave the space used by the existing virtual machines.  Once that adjust you network settings (an adresse.0 may be the entry door?)  You should be able to proceed with the creation of cluster.

  • How to install 5.1 VSA with vCenter virtual?

    Hi all

The organization I work for is planning to install a cluster VSA 2 server in a remote site (ESXi 5.1, 5.1 VSA). To reduce costs, they want to have a virtual vCenter on the cluster. I guess that the virtual vCenter also runs the VSA cluster service.

How the hell can I install this? So far, I have:

-built 2 5.1 with 1 local datastore ESXi servers each

-built a vCenter 5.1 on the ESXi server and installed the Manager of VSA on it (which includes the cluster service)

-joined the two servers ESXi, vCenter inside a data center

Have a running VM (the vCenter) forced me down the road of installation "Brownfield". Very well... I created 2 vswitches and groups of ports and launched the installation wizard. Everything in the wizard seemed ok and he started to install. He has done many things (clearly, it's a very clever installation program) and after some time he put the host without vCenter in maintenance mode. I watched with my eyebrows getting higher and higher... probably soon he would put the host with vCenter in maintenance mode, what magic he would do to manage loses its vCenter (and the cluster service)? No of course, and it has failed with an error message "cannot create the cluster VSA: Add Cluster HA hosts failed.

There is a lot I don't understand about a virtual vCenter on a VSA cluster out of the way to install it.

The vCenter may be on the VSA data store? The install doc does not, it is said "vCenter Server can run locally on a host in the cluster VSA ESXi." vCenter Server can also run remotely and manage multiple VSA clusters. "

But if it's on a local data store, how to manage servers wearing down for maintenance, updates etc? And that does not turn the host it is running in a single point of failure, if it fails the cluster breaks down? The point of the entire cluster is to avoid this.

Am I missing something? I would be grateful if anyone can clear this up, and if he's not going to be an option, can anyone recommend a small iscsi SAN or NAS? It is perhaps less than a 3rd Server vCenter, the VSA cost plus the cost of the internal hard drives in 2 guests. In the remote site, currently, there are only a few physical servers, I don't really have the possibility of the vCenter relying on another host and then moving to the VSA cluster that was an option I read on a forum. Don't really want than wan connects either.

    Thank you

    Matt

The VCS must be outside the cluster.  It does not need to be on a server, it can run on windows or Linux systems class office.  Small footprint PCs are available for ~ $ 200.  It has to be in the same subnet as the cluster nodes.  If the VCS was done in a cluster node, you actually lose the tiebreaker vote and if the node hosting the VCS were to fail, you would lose the quorum of the cluster.

VC running within the cluster will work, but it is complicated on a cluster 2 knots because you may lose the ability to manage the cluster if the node hosting the Victoria Cross were to fail.  You want to have the DB Backup VC and a strategy to recover.
