material conditions VSA?

Hi all, I have a couple of servers I want to use for esx vsa, can I use different physical servers?

those I have is the two ram 64gig with the same kind of CPU in both (intel E5-2620 x 2) and raid is setup at the same time with the same amount of storage, hard drives same but different, is raid controllers the number one is a Fujitsu and the other is super micro.

Someone think that I would have problems this?

Thank you

Steve

Hi, I did a little work on the ASB (with the same type of good servers) but I think you will be ok and it's certainly worth a try. The fact that all the components are the same (with the exception of the RAID controller) should mean that everything will work.

The installation notes refer to a "homogeneous hardware configuration" not identical so I think it will work. The only thing I would say is make sure RAID controllers present the same RAID configurations (RAID10, RAID 6, etc.) as long as they are the same configuration.

Here is the link to the release note that has the installation requirements - http://www.vmware.com/support/vsa/doc/vsphere-storage-appliance-513-release-notes.html

Hope that helps,

Steven

  • SG300 - 28 p: POE power drops every few minutes

    Hi all

We have a SG300 - 28 p which, at intervals between 5 and 30 minutes or more, lower power to all its ports POE-powered and then immediately restores power. Switch logs nothing when this happens other than to record that the ports went down and back up, even with debug logging enabled. Non - POE ports are not affected.

When the problem started there were only four POE devices on the switch and we are far under our power budget. (During the test, I added a fifth device, see below.)

Not all combinations of devices cause the drops occur - specifically, it seems that having devices on ports next to each other causing the drops. When the drops occur, absent the increment of POE devices all counters. I noticed this thread earlier here seemed similar:

    https://supportforums.Cisco.com/thread/2165089

but in this case, he got no power at all in the adjacent configurations, instead of having to drop all the several minutes.

    I am running

    SW06 #sh worm

    SW version 1.1.2.0 (November 12, 2011 time 23:34:26)

Start the 1.1.0.6 version (date may 11, 2011 time 18:31)

    HW version V02

I have the 1.2.2.7.6 ready to go new firmware, I will update this when I get a chance to test it. Unfortunately, it's a switch of production, but it's a with relatively few devices to it so far. If need be, I have a sf300 - 48P I can exchange this sg300 ENJOI trials.

Thank you for anything you might suggest.

Hi Rich, reference this photo I just drew is a rough interpretation of how a switch 24 ports has guts. Each + block represents a processor. The numbers below represent the port Bank that corresponds to the transformer. Of course, MODULE POE is clearly identified. Each module 12 POE ports for services.

I think you have a completely different question. If the POE works for 5 to 30 minutes, it can be a problem of layer 1 (bad son) or a different, perhaps material condition being disturbed. If the switch is at fault, it seems more likely to be defective to a unit of buggy.  I did a lot of research on the operation of the switch ASIC, transformer and modules of POE in the cohesion.

Quite frankly, I think you should go to the 1.2.7.76 firmware, factory reset the device and test all the ports you want using the same equipment. If maintaining the POE fall every 5 to 30 minutes and you are absolutely positive, that it is not a question of layer 1 or a configuration problem on your products, can I just replace the switch.

    Hi all

Firstly excuse me with poster on this thread who maybe does belong here.

We have a customer with zero according to IT. And I wanted to buy EBS R12.2.4 small accounting. (small only)

We have a proposal of costs for the EBS software + hardware.

But they want to include the cost of networking also.

What are the material condition basic/less expensive / the solution to start a small network?

for example no wiring but all wireless wi - fi?

Can you give me link for setting up small cheap put base on a network for a small office? No wiring, but all the wifi wireless?

Should I upgrade? router? hub? etc.

There the networking for beginners or Dummies EBS

    Thank you ALL

    Hello

As much as I KNOW, no, is not a guide specific to the EBS network.

You only need a connectivity that is stable and relatively fast.

This is not related to BSE.

You should post in a networking forum.

  • A few questions about Essentials Plus & opinion

    Hi all

Been a lurker here for a while and learned a lot but now I have a few questions, if you don't mind.

I have a client for which Essentials would be a great choice both in their material conditions and pricing, but they also want a little too VDI solution.

So my first question is if we view can we use comes with more Essentials VCenter to manage? Or at least link them?

And also, on the safeguarding of their infrastructure plan - is it possible to use Backup Exec 2010 with their (from Symantec) "Agent for VMware Virtual Infrastructure license? Or the absence of VCB in Essentials more do we need to go back to the backup of the OS invited by agent?

It's pretty strange - I'm competent with VMware in all, but this is the first time that I had to consider using Essentials, so I'm really not updated on what it can/cannot do / limits.

    Thanks in advance.

    Tony.

It is not possible to link the VCenter comes with Essentials more to one that comes with a view

The problem is that vCenter essential is an edition of Foundation and cannot manage 3 guests.

It assumes that it can then be even backtracked on tape with a normal file-based backup procedure?

Yes... but don't forget to do during the job no. VDR is running.

I also realized that Essentials more was considered as a product without issue with no path uprgade (!) is always true?

You can upgrade essential more to an acceleration of the advantage kit.

Then you can upgrade to higher version.

But only if the SnS is still active.

  • VSA on material different hosts in a cluster

I installed VSA attemtped to VSA configuration for two hosts in a cluster with a different material and successfully. When I have case set up the ASB I couldn't add any of the hosts in the cluster. In the details, he says "guests shouldn't be in a cluster, hardware not supported." My question is...

Should I remove the hosts in the cluster?

VSA supports the hosts of different material?

VSA can support my setup with a different configuration?

I am new to VSA, so any help would be appreciated.

    Concerning

Purpose of test, I missed more than one option you need to change in the dev.properties:

    EVC.config = false

Turn off the host.audit allows you to select hosts even with unsupported hardware.

This cannot be a permanent solution, because VSA configures an EVC cluster enabled as part of the workflow installation and vCenter Server does not add a host from a different family of the seller/CPU in a VCA active cluster.

  • Material VSA

    Hello

Due to a customer political Fujitsu RX200 Fijitsu S7 are used for vSphere and VMware HCL suggests that the servers are OK for running vSphere 5.1.

We now have an additional requirement to perform new Fujitsu RX200 Fijitsu S7 servers running vSphere 5.1 and VSA. However, the HCL in the following URL does not list the Fujitsu RX200 Fijitsu S7 server to run the VSA function.

    http://www.VMware.com/resources/compatibility/search.php?deviceCategory=Server

Did anyone know why that would be the case, for example, the server's hardware is OK for vSphere 5.1 and not VSA?

The policy to have servers certified for the ASB has been eased recently, according to the http://blogs.vmware.com/vsphere/2012/12/major-hcl-changes-for-the-vsphere-storage-appliance-vsa.html.

Now, you just need to make sure you have a certified Raid Controller.

    I hope this helps.

  • Index and MATCH with several conditions

Hi all! I hope I can explain what I'm trying to do here clearly. This is my first shot:

In the table below "Office entry Worksheet - area 1" I am trying to insert a formula in column B which will result in an answer ' true / false ' and be used for conditional highlighting

The first condition that must be met is that the checkbox in the table "Labor and material Checklist" column A or check, if it is not checked, then move to the next line. If the box is checked, then the following condition would need to index and match with column C of table "Office entry Worksheet - area 1" in column B. If there is a match in column C, then move to the next line of column B in the table 'labor and material Checklist '. This continues until there is a 'match', then highlight column B in the table "entry Office sheet - surface 1" in red (or something like "MISSING task")

It is an estimate and the idea is to ensure that the Phases that are checked in the table "Labor and material Checklist" will not miss when you use the table "entry office map - zone 1".

Thank you very much for your help!

  • Portege R700 webcam goes dark in low light conditions

    Hello

Since I bought my Toshiba Portege R700 about a year ago I had problems with my webcam. I looked in several forums but couldn't find an answer. My build in webcam has problems of adaptation in the light of the room.

When the room is dimly lit camera turns almost black after a few seconds. It is interesting enough before the camera darkens, he manages to produce a picture is ok for a few seconds, which means that the camera is capable of producing an image ok in low light conditions.

She has just problems adjusting the brightness in the room when it is poorly lit. I propose to toshiba update the software of the camera, since it is clearly a matter of software. And yes I've tried every single possible configuration for the camera! And Yes, I also reinstalled (several times) the camera driver.

I know that the camera performs well in places that have good lighting and so I'm only interested in improving my performance of cameras when not much light is available.

    Thank you very much
    Clem

    Hi dude

I understand that you would expect webcam great performance in poor light environment but I put t do you think it would be possible to get the good quality photo using the laptop is dark rooms.

The material of these small internal cams is limited and you see the same issues with other devices like smartphones cameras that resemble the internal cams s notebook.

In addition, the webcam software that is preinstalled on my laptop Toshiba supports the night mode option that allows you to improve the quality of the obscure image in the Middle but of course you will not get the same image quality if you want to use the cam in the luminous environment

  • Analog OUTPUT material

    Hello

My question is about the analog output (0 - 10V) of the myDAQ unit.

On the card, you can read:

    "Overdrive Protection +-16 V forever."

Lets imagine the worst case: 0 V output DQA, but outside a battery or anything else is connected with 15 V to the analog output.

Fact an "unlimited" current in data acquisition or protection 'Overdrive' works here and the material is safe to destroy?

The background: I want to OD are protected from transient voltages and toilet on a simple zener diodes clip or a tvs diode...

    Thank you all, Markus

    Markus,

To use a zener diode as protection, you must also have an impedance of current limiting in series with the source against which you are protecting.  The manual for the device of maDAQ indicates that the lines of the AO are pushed by OPA1642 op amps.  TI the MSDS for this unit shows the current limiting internal ~ 36 my short circuit with Earth and a thermal shutdown circuit that tries to protect against the terms of overpwer.

However, under your 15 V battery, 11 V zener and 0 V programmed DAQ exit, the situation may be different.  The current from the battery through the zener will be limited by the impedance of cables or any type of resistance on the line.  This has no direct effect on the myDAQ device, but it will probably destroy the zener unless resistance limits the current to a lower maximum current nominal zener.  As long as the voltage at the output of the myDAQ is lower than the internal supply voltage (+/-15 V), on the OPA1642 current limitation should apply.  With 11V applied to the output and the value set to zero the device would probably be to try to sink the maximum current for-15 V power supply.  Which translates to a dissipation of power of more than 900 mW, which exceeds the rated capacity of the op amp. Themal protection should, in principle, reduce the current to a level that does not exceed the thermal limit under development.

This test can be a costly process. The unit may be destroyed.  Given that the maximum current specified for an analog output channel is 2 my and the maximum voltage is 10 V, I would consider a series resistance of perhaps 1000 ohms and clamping schottky diodes at the + 15 V and - 15 V power supply.  This will limit the current to 10-20 my in all conditions you have mentioned and would also provide protection to the case where the battery is connected the myDAQ device is turned off. He alsoe does not care about the polarity of the external source.  It will drop the output voltage according to the load impedance.  If this should be used in a student lab, the calcualtion of this decline is something they should be doing anyway, and would be a small price to pay for protection.

  • under condition of read/write terminals on the side of the connector (basic training 3)

    Hello

During my practice towards the review of the CLD, I examine the Core 3 online training material too. I just read a few tips of 'best practices' on the forum, for example this post:

    http://forums.NI.com/T5/LabVIEW/Community-Nugget-wired-terminals-in-subdiagrams-clearing-up-the/m-p/...

It should be noted, that we should not use terminals (which are on the connector pane) to the inside of while loop or condition of the structure. Neither control, nor indicators (read/write terminals): "terminals conditionally read or written on the side of the connector are BAD!"

I can find many examples in the online training materials, when the indicators and controls are placed inside while loop and the case of structures in a Subvi.

I guess I should not do this during my review of the CLD, as they will run benchmark on my project? Should not be the core training materials updated some time? Or it's just not too important to have terminals on the outside? I would lose points during the CLD Exam my project as in the Core 3 screws?

example 1: Core 3, exercise 4-6 design of an error-handling strategy:

    EDIT:

What's even more ugly in this project, is that, in the case of 'Get empty Cue', the Cue output indicator is updated via a local variable, because the indicator is not accessible via 'outside ': wire

Nice catch on the training material.  that the application would take an if subject to a review of the CLD test graders.

As noted in the nugget: sentencing of perfomance for conditionally reached terminals is a function of the size of the data.  So, it is sometimes acceptable for simple data.  The larger point being to learn about compromise and make the right choice for your code.

Preping for the CLD on other means of hand knowing that VI Analyzer will run on your project.  Like any other code review you walk in - know the guidelines for the review and code to ' review ' as well as 'reply spec.'

I've not seen an instance where an example of shipping (2013 and later versions) would fail this test VIA (there are a few screws deep inside the vi.lib which can date back to before the adoption of this recommendation from style)

  • The condition of the Terminal loop in a wiring SCTL

    Hi all.

I'm relatively new to LabVIEW, and I have a little doubt with a Terminal loop condition which I think is pretty basic. When using a while loop, the VI breaks if there is no condition connected to the Terminal, even if it is a constant t. The same is also pretty explicitly mentioned hereand I think that makes perfect sense.

Now, I am interested in some code LabVIEW FPGA on a forum post that I was living to understand better SCTLs (only the attached photo is NOT my own code, credits to Mahesh0459), and the conditional terminal in the SCTLs does not seem to be wired. When I watched the video that introduced this concept, loop a while turns out be replaced directly with a SCTL, whereupon the F constant (since the while loop) is automatically connected to the Terminal.

So, my question is this: is it a good idea to leave the condition of the Terminal loop unwired in an FPGA VI? If so, what is the reason? Alternatively, is this SCTLs-specific behavior? If so, again, what is the reason?

    Thank you!

Only in FPGA is fine.  The reason being that it is assumed the loop will only run for always in the material.  No no not the loop control registers some doors.
