  my Mac book pro crashed. I received another similar Mac Book Pro (7-8 years) of a friend and plugged on my HP Laser Jet 1020 (10 years) I had my old computer connected whenever I printed my documents.

  I click on 'Print' it seems that if everything goes well. But then the printer 'app' on the dock Gets a red sign on it and the printer never implemented. I think I downloaded the driver correctly, but - unfortunately-erased routines so I'll have to do it again.

  Where better that they find? I hope you can help me! -

  AND what could possibly be wrong because the printer does not start also when I had the drivers installed?

  I use i5 Dell Studio with Windows 7 64 bit. I have a problem in printing using HP Laser Jet 1020. I have no problem with other printers such as HP Laser Jet 2600n (wireless network) and all-in-one HP PSC 1410.

  With HP LJ 1020, no response from the printer when printing (from all programs). I have re-installed the latest driver from the Web site of HP but does not help. When printing, the printer does not work with all the lights are flashing. However, the printer spooler showed that it was printed without the tail of any job. TeSp print page is not working too. Tried troubleshooting printer shows as not any problem. I tried the printer with a friend's computer and it works perfectly. Please kindly help thanks.

  Initially bought laser jet printer 1020 for windows xp laptop.

  I just bought a new pc with windows 7.

  I opt above site to download the upgrade for windows 7 for my new computer. Note: I did not use records of pilot provided when I bought the printer.

  I downloaded the upgrade, saved on my computer. I then ran the downloaded software and my printer was automatically installed and I tested with a test page print all right.

  (1) U have tried to reinstall the printer drivers? Try to clean the print cartridge using the hp software installed...
  (2) if the problem persists, reinstall the cartiridges...
  (3) make surré cartiridges meet ink, the wires are properly pluged in electricity, as well as cable usb to computer, usb messages work

  I bought HP Laser Jet 1020 several years back and you want to install in my new PC, Dell - Windows 7 64 bit.

  Earlier this week, I got a virus.  That was resolved, however, my printer did not work properly, so I tried to update the driver hoping that would solve the problem.  I could not install the driver, even after spending most of the day chatting with hp support.  I got following messages is displayed:

• Tried to install a printer in windows 7 using a vista driver. Now, I get an error 0 x 00000002.

  The problem occurred when trying to install a network printer on my laptop that is running Windows 7.  Now, when I select the printer in the menu "add a printer" and press "Next", I get 'Unable to connect to the printer' & 'the operation failed with error 0x00000002 ".
  The printer is a network printer, connected to my desktop running Vista.  In addition, it is a Brother MFC-8300.
  I can install the printer when it is connected directly to my laptop, but when I try to add it as a network printer, I have the problem that I have just described.  I should mention that I had to install a special version of the driver ("Brother MFC-8300 v.2") on my desk to solve another problem, I had with another computer on the network, which was running Vista-64 (see http://www.vistax64.com/vista-print-fax-scan/77226-brother-mfc-8300-printing-blank-pages.html).
  So basically this is what happens:
  (1) I click on 'add printer '.
  (2) I click on 'Add a network, wireless or Bluetooth printer.'

  (4) a "Windows printer Installation" window appears and says "connection to Brother MFC-8300 v.2 on."

  Create two printers on the computer, the device sharing.  Make a word share name, do not use the name of the driver for sharing.  Spaces in the name to make it even more difficult when you set a SMB (local port) connection to the printer.  Set the Port for two printers shared the same (I assume that the device is connected to a USB Port).

  Use the driver Vista Inbox for the part for 32-bit machines.  Use the driver provided Brother (Brother MFC-8300 v.2) share for 64-bit machines.
