Installing esx 4.0 on USB - someone at - he had problems?

Hello

I'm planning an installation on a blade and was hoping that rather than installing esx 4 on hard to install on an internal USB drives. This means that I can use the space in the blade for extra memory. I know that it will work with ESXi, but I'd really rather full use blown esx 4 because I am more used to the way it works.

Somebody has experiences / questions / comments / limitations with this?

Thanks in advance,

The reason why ESXi works, is that it is designed to make minimal wrote on the USB drive. ESX is not and will do a lot of paperwork. You can have success, but I wouldn't count not that it is safe for a long time. ESXi can install on a 1 GB USB key. You probably need at least 10 GB for ESX. A small SSD? HP Blades begin to come with them. Not hot swap is interesting.

  • Installing ESX 3.5 on USB Flash?

    Hi all!

I faced an interesting question for me: we bought IBM BladeCenter with HS servers 21 XM without flash disk USB (4 GB) with ESXi 3.5 hypervisor in this regard, in addition, we purchased the license on ESX 3.5 Standard sort... I have tried to install ESX on usb flash and had some trouble, I can't used the automatic partitioning of usb flash and he did it in itself:

    102 mb for/Boot

    1200 MB swap

    Vmkcore 102 mb

    542 MB/var/log

    2000 mb /.

for vmfs3 I used external FC LUN, then I got the success on my installation, but during the initialization of my server (exactly on the VMWARE ESX Server is started) I had the breakdown. I got the console access to the server and when I look for FS on usb flash I see all the files but no fstab! Is it possible to install ESX server or not.

Thank you for all comments proffessional.

    Best regards.

You can download the ESXi from this link under 'VMware ESXi'... If you are registered with VMware give the username and the way forward

  • Someone at - he had problems with charger 10W EU Apple sent as replacement?

Charger 10W EU I got from Apple did not work properly, before even the latest updates to iOS. Sometimes, the charger worked, sometimes not. I tried to replace the cable, but got by mistake a non-certified cable. With the iOS 9.3 update battery drained even with the 'false' cable connected to the power supply all the time. The accused episodically iPad and the battery discharged only, unless it is turned off. Then it loads very slowly. So I bought a new cable and charger 12W. IPad charging works now normal with iOS 9.3. I strongly suspect the 10W EU charger, but the non-certified cable may have been a problem too after the upgrade of 9.3. If the charger of apples is the problem, they should pay.

    What is your question?

  • Does anyone has installed ESX 3.5 on a USB Flash drive?

    Hello

I read some comments on how to get ESXi on a USB Flash drive, but I wonder if the same thing is possible with ESX 3.5?  The reason why I ask is that many of our ESX servers are wired directly into our DS/4700 IBM SAN for their data warehouses and we currently have local disks for the operating system itself.  Cost-mindedly, it would be wonderful if we can just install ESX operating system on a flash drive $15 (which would never be deleted you mind) as opposed to hard drives IBM overpriced or the boot-from-SAN.  The thought of having an identical set also to go with our identical to our disaster recovery site hardware is also very attractive. If someone could provide an answer on this, I would be very grateful.  Thank you!

    -John

If you ask if it is possible, yes it's possible.  Incorporated just means it is preinstalled on removable media (usually a flash drive, but it's the same thing).

With regard to the instructions, google it.  There are a LOT of messages.

  • Someone at - he had or having problems with getting nVidia NVS 450 working resolution?

    Hi all

We got a new C20 with a nvidia NVS 450 card - and a $ monitor. The C20 has Windows 7 preinstalled; the out-of-the-box resolution is 640 x 480 and we couldn't make it go higher than that! The $ and the video card are connected via the DisplayPort cable that came with the unit. After you have reinstalled the video card driver that comes with the unit (on a CD containing drivers for Windows and Linux), we could never get to go beyond 640 x 480 resolution. We left thinking that it must be a quirk with Windows 7. We were going to install Linux on the C20 anyway, so we moved on this.

We installed Fedora 14 (64-bit) install the video driver nvidia who was on the CD and cannot get the display resolution greater than 640 x 480. After a few days of tests n errors referring to various online forums, we have successful get resolution up to 800 x 600, but not the expected 1900 - something resolution the $ and video card holders.

Someone at - he had problems with getting the resolution of the video card to work? If so, were you able to solve the problem? We thought we would start here instead to call Lenovo support first, because usually technical questions, we get smarter than over-the-phone responses. Also, waiting for answers on a forum is less frustrating than the vote by phone.

    Chris

    Thank you for your response.

I had the chance to get their hands on another monitor, and when I plugged that, I got the full resolution. After a lot of testing, I decided that it was a faulty monitor and it had nothing to do with the video card. I finally got a replacement screen for the one who wasn't giving me the full resolution.

Subsequently, I went ahead and got the latest drivers nvidia on their Web site. Everything works fine now.

How to install windows 7 on my usb flash drive just incase my computer crashes and need to refurbish? can someone help me please?

    original title: help!

Windows 7 does not support installation on external storage such as a USB Flash drive devices. You can back up your installation of Windows 7 on a hard drive external that you can restore in case your system becomes unstable. Please see the following for instructions on how to use the Image of the system:

  • Unistalling ESXi & install ESX, what of my virtual machines?

    Hi all

I think unistalling vSphereHypervisor (ESXi 4.1) and installing vsphere (ESX 4.1) on my home server.

How to preserve my 8 VMs or backup them?

In addition, I will win by opting for ESX 4.1?

At this point, the difference between 4.1 ESX and ESXi 4.1 shrinks, for what you can do through administrative tasks. Get the unit of MAS, and you have more features. With the new ability to remote SSH on ESXi 4.1, you win a lot of what ESX 4.x used to bring to the table (by itself without the need to modify a file of confd ESXi 4)...

So unless you have tools/software that works only in ESX 4.1, I wouldn't wipe and install ESX 4.1... Firstly, you'll need to do the reverse, when you want to go to the next version. On the other hand, most third party tools have been updated to ESXi 4.1, are being updated, or will be before too long. At least those who actually want to keep their customers running VMware products.

I moved my VM to a SAN/NAS in my lab at home. It is very handy when I want to update the host, since I can have run them on a temporary host (a good system, using ESXi 4.1 installed on a USB key). Finally, I have at least two hosts in my lab running 24 x 7 so that I can more easily update things. In addition, it will allow me to run several virtual machines at the same time.

  • Cannot install esx on hp dc7600 listed tested - works for esx and I

Maybe someone can tell what to check in the workstation bios HP dc7600 operate installing esx.

I found that individuals confirm impeccable installation on this model.

It has Intel and Broadcom NIC processor.

I tried esxi. He can't find the Sata Drive: cannot find a device supported to write image VMWare ESX Server.

  • Installing ESX 3.5 in laptop

I would like to try VMware ESX () ESXi (or) free server in my laptop... I would like to run a bare metal Virtual server + 1 guest os for games + 1 guest os for development + 1 guest os server + 1 guest os for testing purposes... Of course only 2 systems will work in parallel.

    My config mobile as follows,

    NVidia GeForce Go 760

Thosiba 80 GB SATA II HDD

Western Digital 250 GB SATA II HDD

    Data/Fax/Voice Modem HDAudio

    Intel Pro/1000 PL NIC

    Intel Pro/Wireless 3945ABG wireless NIC

Intel Core 2 Duo Centrino (T5200 @ 1.60 GHz) processor

    2 * 2 DDR II @ 667 Mhz Transcend RAM

    17 "dual monitors (1 laptop + 1 external)

    My doubts are as follows,

    1. is it possible to install ESX or ESXi in my laptop for the configuration of the said above,

    2. If so, is it possible to use the laptop as desktop itself (for example by installing GUIS in VMware server and RDP to my guest operating system since the laptop itself rather than using another system for RDP to connect to my laptop)

    3. is it possible to use my graphics card for games (which I will use NFS, GTA, Spore etc...)

    4. is it possible to use within the operating systems wireless connections (guest will mainly be WinXP, Win2003, Win2008, Ubuntu...)

    5. is it possible to mount my 2nd drive (formatted in NTFS) HARD inside the guest without repartiotning OS?

    6. is it possible to use my Pen/Flash like as before?

    7. is it possible to use my DVD LightScribe burner with no problems?

    8. is it possible to use external monitors?

NOTE: If I'm not able to run the ESX/ESXi servers hope I'd be able to run VMware free server on linux OS (likeubuntu 8.10) without any problems... However, I would be most greatfull if someone can give advice to the questions listed above.

    (A) games will not run on virtual environments

    (B) you should not use VM Ware ESX Server.  You don't have a local console to 'see' the virtual machine, you have to distance their

    (C) the Wireless does not work inside the virtual computer

    (D) you may not use the external screens with VM either.

Them are offices remotely, this is how you see them.  It is preferable to 2 machines, your laptop and a cheap desktop computer with ESX (or VM Ware server) and run your Dev, application on that server.  Run your games from your laptop and connect to the desktop computer / lapto with a KVM 2 ports.  In this way, you can have sound, a large screen LCD and Wireles.

  • IPod Classic 7 G 160 GB ' there was a problem installing this hardware: Apple iPod USB Device ".

    I have recently (June 2014) bought a brand new Ipod Classic 7 G 160 GB Model A1238.

Whenever I connect via USB to a PC running XP SP3 and Itunes V10.0.7.2 it is always treated as if it were a new connection, i.e. "new hardware found". After trying to install it, it says so "cannot install this hardware" and "there was a problem installing this hardware: Apple iPod USB Device."
I have also a 2009 16 GB Ipod Nano 4 G model 1285 and this is recognized by the PC whenever it is connected through the USB port itself.
I connected the Ipod Classic 7 G to a laptop running Vista and Itunes V10.0.7.2 where the Ipod is recognized and installed.

Even if the PC States that there is a problem installing the Ipod, it still appears in Itunes and I can download music to it and disconnect by using safe mode disconnect.

PC XP SP3 - Ipod Classic
I watched "Device Manager" under "Drives", the Ipod Classic is listed as an "Apple Ipod USB Device", but has an exclanation score against it.

Right-click on the 'Apple Ipod USB Device' properties and the "Volumes" tab it shows the drive with the exact name and the size of the data, by clicking on the properties of "Driver" tab it says 'Unknown' driver provider, driver Date and Driver Version as being "not available". By clicking on the "Driver Details" properties, it shows a driver file-

    C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\PartMgr.sys, File Version 5.1.2600.5512 (xpsp080413-2108).

Under "Device Manager" USB controllers, there is an entry for "Apple Mobile Devices USB Driver" and a "USb Mass Storage Device"

The 'Apple Mobile Devices USB Driver' lists two drivers:
    C:\WINDOWS\System32\Drivers\usbaapl.sys and
    C:\WINDOWS\System32\usbaaplrc.sys

The "USB Mass Storage Device" list a driver:
    C:\WINDOWS\System32\Drivers\USBSTOR. SYS

PC XP SP3 - Ipod Nano

I repeated the steps above with the Ipod Nano, connected to the PC and the driver provider is presented as Microsoft with the driver as 07/01/01 Date and Version of the driver as 5.1.2535.0.
In the "Driver Details" properties, it shows TWO driver files:

    C:\WINDOWS\system32\DRIVERS\disk.sys AND meanings
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\PartMgr.sys.
At the same time with the Version of the file 5.1.2600.5512 (xpsp080413-2108).

The 'Apple Mobile Devices USB Driver' and "USB Mass Storage Device" are the same as for the Ipod Classic.

I followed the procedure to remove Itunes and even the update to Itunes to V11.2.2 nothing works.

I am aware that the system is also that XP can now be updated.

So, why not not Windows Installer Ipod Classic and why the disk.sys driver does not appear

According to the details of the pilot?

Is the 7 G Ipod Classic not compatible with XP SP3?

Yes it is compatible with XP SP3.

Try asking in the forums of Apple iPod:
