Installing RAC for R12

Hello

I read the docs on EBS R12.1 RAC installation, who said:
The traditional and still widely-used configuration where the Concurrent (Parallel) Processing servers
are located on the database tier. Unless there is a network constraint, the recommendation now is
to place them on the application tier for greater flexibility and scalability.
At this moment we have a configuration to multiple nodes (not yet on the CARS), the AppsTier is on node1 (including concurrent managers, which is the default configuration), while the Db layer is on Node2. Does this mean that I didn't need to transfer more simultaneous Manager to the Db layer on Node2?

Are simultaneous managers also called simultaneous processing servers?
If my simultaneous managers are located on the AppsTier, how can I convert it to additional servers of simultaneous treatment? Can you please give me notes on how to implement this type of configuration?

Thank you very much

MSK

Hello

Can you give me notes on how to add the application tier node more?

Use quick Clone "Option 3: adding a node to an existing system '-see (Note: 406982.1 - cloning Oracle Applications V12 with Clone quick (recommended customer)).

Kind regards
Hussein

  • Configuration of the laptop for R12 with node 2 11g RAC database

    Hi all

I plan to buy a new computer dell laptop XPS to install Oracle Apps R12 with node 2 11g RAC DB by creating virtual machines.

    Configuration:
generation of Intel processor i5-2410 2 (2.3 GHz, core 2, 3 MB cache)
    8 GB RAM DDR3
    750 GB HARD drive
this configuration will be sufficient for the highest installation? RAM? Processor?

I've read a few threads over on this forum where people have recommended for installation of single application (11i or R12), this kind of configuration can be enough.

    Please answer.

    Thanks in advance.

You need at least 4 GB for installation on a single node R12. So, if you plan to have 3 VMs (1 application node) and 2 RAC nodes or 4 virtual machines (2 application and 2 RAC nodes), then I suggest that you add more memory. However, your RAM should work, but don't expect (if you go with 3 VMs) but do not expect the performance to be perfect.

  • RAC for EBS R12

    Hi hussein/helios

Is it true that you can configure RAC without using OCFS2? but instead of him, you'll only use ASM as another option
    or a substitute?

    Thank you.

    MSK

    Hi yxes;

u have used the OCFS2 on your RAC and ASM installation?

Yes, I used both. But we prefer to use ASM now. While ASM has some difficult trail, I mean that we must learn how you must use DSO and his order. We prefer ASM because its handle many things automatically, you pass level by the ASM OS and the most important thing is free :) but OCFS2 you pay extra money for the provider.

I suggest you only start with ASM because many company began working with the functionality of the DSO. Can add you a lot to your bottom of dba

I propose if please read & verify top pole and first try to understand the concept, then you can install RAC with OCFS2 or ASM... Main foreground is understanding concepts

  • Satellite A300 power suddenly goes out during the race for hours

    Dear users of the Forum,

I am facing a strange problem in operation.
My laptop Satellite A300 is suddenly down power during the race for hours.
It is auto off not exactly. Not the way windows stop, is rather like strength to off (as when I press on & power button to stop force).

This happens automatically, starting again, the screen saying "windows does not stop properly, start windows normally" is apperanig.

I suspected virus infection, I tried full scan with nod 32, essential microsoft, kaspesky - 1 by 1 (previous uninstall and install the new), but all the antivirus intremediately scan stopped due to this power off.

Watch movie also stopped in the Middle, attempted to convert the movie file format also was arrested several times because of this problem of automatic disconnection.

I tried to run only on the power (remove battery) and got the same result.

can anyone identify the problem? can you please give me the solution?

    smarjit1

    Hello

I put t think it is s virus.
En me it looks like overheating. Eventually the high internal temperature requires the laptop to close. This is done automatically to prevent the equipment from damage
I'm not quite sure what could cause this exactly, but in most cases the dust inside the fans affects cooling performance and lead to a temperature higher than m.

Higher temperatures could affect the RAM modules too, and perhaps that is the reason why some applications don't work properly.

What to say; try to clean the cooling fans using a jet of compressed air and check out how the laptop would proceed

  • Need steps to install RAC Oracle 12 c on AIX

    Hi all

I need documentation/tutorials for installing RAC 12 c on a support for AIX version. I don't have any experience on AIX, is very different from CentOS/RHEL/OEL?

    Hi delphine,.

I highly recommend that you will follow the official Oracle documentation:

    1. Start with the installation of the grid Infrastructure:http://docs.oracle.com/database/121/CWAIX/toc.htm
    2. After the installation of the complete Network Infrastructure, you can go ahead with the installation of database: http://docs.oracle.com/database/121/AXDBI/inst_task.htm#BABBBHJH

In addition, I recommend you install 12.1.0.2 which is the last patch set for 12 c and it includes many fixes for bugs in 12.1.0.1 and also of new improvements and features that were not available in 12.1.0.1 (for example, the memory option, and many others).

  • Cannot find APPL_TOP in installing Windows of R12

    Hi all

I have installed Oracle Apps R12 VMware Windows of an Institute.

I have a small doubt in it. I am not able to use $APPL_TOP (% APPL_TOP %) or $AU_TOP(%AU_TOP%) like that. Average environmental variables are not defined as UNIX.

Can someone help me please to set these environment variables.

    Thank you

    Sameer

I expect to be already defined at the start of the following E-business. In fact I don't know where the file is located.

It must be fixed whenever you need, its source not automatically.

.Env or.cmd APPS APPS APPL_TOP Apps_st/apps/appl Consolidated configuration file

Are you looking for apps/apps_st/appl folder folder (ex: D:/SCREWS/apps/apps_st/appl)

Please read previously posted links to learn more about environment settings, there are various files of env/cmd for R12 installation which must be based on the to-do items (layer Layer/database application)

  • Telnet between the 2 nodes before installing RAC 11 GR 2

    Hi Oracle RAC guru,

For the 2 nodes were installed RAC (GR 11, 2) clusterware, they need to be able to telnet each other with port open? and ping scan name must be successful before you install the clusterware software? operating system is Linux x86_64

    Thank you!

    SC

    Hello

the VIP and the SCAN IPs aren't yet to the ping requests (let alone telnet).

One of the main tasks of a cluster should provide these entry points. So they will be available as soon as your IM is running, but not before.

Make a res stat crsctl - you on your clusters existing and you will see the VIP and VIP SCAN (online) resources. If they don't are not online no VIP don't will be 'plugged' on top of your network cards.
You can also see the IP address with ifconfig-a on existing clusters. And you will see the difference on your cluster "clean".

  • Installing Oracle EBS R12.1.1 on MacBook

    Greetings,

I just want to clarify if Oracle EBS R12.1.1 can be installed on any Apple MacBook? I tried to install the Oracle database on an OS Snow Leopard, which was a success (a version of db is also available for Mac OS). Not sure if this is possible for BSE, while Mac OS is a flavor of the Unix operating system.

    Kind regards

    Vik,

Mac OS is not certified as a node in application/database layer, so you can not install Oracle EBS R12 on this OS.

  • Install problem EBS R12 - database disk 8

    Folk,

Hello. I'm the EBS R12 installation using 'rapidwiz '.

When the quick installation wizard gets 20% of the Installation, the message appears:
'CD Locator enter location for labeled disc. Install Oracle database disk 1 "- quick Application
I enter the 1 disc database directory (/ tmp /... .../Source_EBS_R12/oraAppDB) and click on the "OK" button, the wizard to continue with the installation.

  • Failed to install RAC where format ocrdisk on RHEL 5.3

    Hello guys,.
I want to install a RAC 10 g on redhat enterprise linux 5.3, but I face a problem:
After Installation the Clusterware, I need to run: $ORA_CRS_HOME/root.sh
But there is a problem as below:
    clsfmt: unexpected i/o error queues
    skgfqio: additional information: 1
    Additional information: 4

    The environment is:
    [root@test1 ~] # uname - r
    2.6.18 - 128.EL5

    [root@test1 ~] # / etc/redhat - release more
Release of Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server 5.3 (Tikanga)

and the gpfs 3.3.0.5 be install in my platform.

The ocrdisk was made on the disks, GPFS.

    Thank you.

    Hello

    don't you misunterstood something:

You can install RAC on RHEL 5 for x 86 with no problems.
-With or without GPFS (although I recommend to use ASM instead of GPFS).
-You must place OCR and discs with right to vote directly on the block/RAW devices.

Better is probably to take clusterware 11.2, here you can use ASM for everything and could also use ACFS as a clusterfilesystem for the database files.

Although you can use OCFS2, I recommend placing OCR and discs, directly on the block or raw devices to vote. See the installation guide for more details.

You can also install RAC on AIX.
-also here, it is recommended to place the OCR and the discs out of GPFS to vote.

And you can install it on Linux on Power, but only 10.2, since there is no 11 for linux to power software.

  • install the EBS R12 (12.1.1) with Oracle 10 g on different nodes

    Hello

What would be the steps for installation of the R12, EBS (12.1.2) of oracle database 10 g on different nodes?
by default, 12.1.1 comes from oracle database 11g.

    There are basically 2 problems:
    1 instalation for R12 with oracle 10 g
    2 instalation on different nodes

as I read through the forums, for installation on different nodes, you must first install R12 on the database node, then take the config_SID.txt file to the applications node, and then install r12 with this config file. but there are two other issues:
    1. I do full instalation R12 on the database node, and then install complete on the node applications with the config file?
    2. the instalation is done always with database 11 g... but we want database 10 g.

    Hello

He said in the newspaper as R12 is it can be downloaded and installed... no matter if it comes with 10 g or 11 g.

    I agree.

After instalation complete (R12 apps + db) on the node database and complete instalation on the applications node (with the pointing to the created database configuration file)... do have to remove the APPL_TOP, COMM_TOP... of the database layer and leave only the RDBMS House? or what are the exact steps...

You don't have to remove all files, in fact, when you install the database on the database layer node fast install will not lay any of enforcement on this node (provided that you choose do not have enforcement on this node when you answer the question in fast Windows Installer). So, you should eventually have the database files and the ORACLE_HOME database on the DB layer node, then quick installation will allow to install the application files on the nodes of level APPS and application services.

    Thank you
    Hussein
