Intrernet Explorer 6 to 8 are affected, the 9 and 10 are not affected (at least for now).

Microsoft has released the out-of-band security update to fix the problem http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/security/bulletin/ms13-008

Note: If you have already applied the temporary "Fix It" solution you must uninstall it before running Windows Update to get the security update.

    Not sure if this is the right category for virus removal - it's also a security issue.

    I ran Microsoft Security Scanner, which removed a virus.
    in a few days, however, he's back. I just ran the scanner even once, it identifies and remove Win32/Pdfjsc.G
    can anyone tell how to prevent him from returning?

    Thank you very much.

    The safety of MS Scanner will not prevent your system from being infected again - you need to use another product to help with that.

    No single analytical tool seems to know everything, so it is prudent to use more than one.

    Microsoft is not in cases of prevention, detection or removal of malware - that aren't their specialty.  There are other companies where the removal, prevention and detection of malware is their specialty and that's all they do all day long.

    Why are we expect or ask Microsoft to surpass in the areas where it's not their job?

    We do not know enough about your system for now, so see if you can get it cleaned up and stabilized first and then decide what to do next.

    If you still think your system may be achieved a malware, I would do these things before you start any troubleshooting effort:

    Download, install, update and do a full scan with these free malware detection programs at:

    Malwarebytes (MMFA): http://malwarebytes.org/
    SUPERAntiSpyware: (SAS): http://www.superantispyware.com/

    They can be uninstalled later if you wish.

    Download and run Hitman Pro here and during installation to be 100% sure to refuse the installation of toolbars, decline any e-mail options, nothing to do with Bing or MSN, perform a scan time, accept no e-mail and activate the free license:

    http://www.SurfRight.nl/en/downloads/ (make sure you get the free version)

    Download and run TDSSKiller from Kaspersky:
    http://support.Kaspersky.com/viruses/solutions?QID=208280684

    The scans by operating clean, then to solve any problems.

    If you still think that you have any questions, then proceed as follows:

    Since the Microsoft Answers forum does not have any kind of information system request when a new question is asked, we know absolutely nothing about your system.  Not knowing the basic information a problem prolongs the frustration and the agony of these issues.

    Thank you MS Answers, allowing the resolution of simple problems as frustrating and a lot of time as possible.

    Provide information on your system, the better you can:

    What is your system brand and model?

    What is your Version of XP and the Service Pack?

    What is your Internet browser and version?

    Your system's disks IDE or SATA drives?

    Describe your current antivirus and software anti malware situation: McAfee, Symantec, Norton, Spybot, AVG, Avira!, MSE, Panda, Trend Micro, CA, Defender, ZoneAlarm, PC Tools, Comodo, etc..

    The question was preceded by a loss of power, aborted reboot or abnormal termination?  (this includes the plug pulling, buttons power, remove the battery, etc.)

    The afflicted system has a working CD/DVD (internal or external) drive?

    You have a genuine XP installation CD bootable, which is the same Service as your installed Service Pack (this is not the same as any recovery CD provided with your system)?

    Do you see that you think not you should see and when you see it?

    What do not you think that you should see?

    If the system works, what do you think might have changed since the last time it did not work properly?

    Like any support for XP ends as you described (patches of security, patches, updates, etc.), XP should in no case the standards to be sure, given that Microsoft is no longer will develop measures to prevent exploits.

    I tried to download updates for Microsoft Security Essentials and get the message "download virus confined and was eliminated. • Satellite Pro A300: Problem with Microsoft Security Essentials

    Hello

    I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro A300 with XP SP3 and now deleted AVG Free and installed Microsoft Security Essentialls (MSE).

    The result is after installing MSE and begin my laptop cursor is stuck in the center of the screen and will not respond to the inputs of the mouse or the keyboard.

    In aid of F12 to get my startup options allowed me to try the Safe Mode and last known good Configuration etc but they all show the same functionality, IE freeze when the desktop appears. XP seems to be operating in the background, for example system clock stays on time, "notice" system if its wifi singal is removed etc.

    Just to make the day to try to do an OS reinstall pressing 0 to on has no effect - system just boots in XP - so I can't my recovery partition!

    I have now is not a HW problem as the /kbd cursor works if I boot into a non-windows system, for example UBUNTU CD

    Any suggestions welcome - such as can I download a recovery on antother PC CD and burn a recovery CD?

    Hello

    I have no idea what happened after installing Microsoft Security Essentials, but it seems that you are not able to access the files on the HARD drive
    I think you need to reinstall the operating system using HARD drive recovery.
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/Ann.jspa?annID=58

    But this would format the system partition :(

    In order to save the files from the HARD drive, I recommend using / boot from a bootable floppy from Win PE.
    Win PE (also called BartPE) is a thin window OS that is bootable CD and don t need to be installed on the HARD drive.

    I'm guessing that you're referring to a problem involving the Security Center that happens sometimes after update silent through updates of Windows to the new version of MSE... but it is also sometimes occurring after the updates of Windows 'monthly '.  Usually, but not always the problem occurs on computers running XP.

    If the MSE icon is green then you should be protected and cannot ignore this Security Center warning. The problem resolves after a few days.   I do not pretend you disable the protection in real time on MSE, disable Security Center, restart the computer and then turn everything back on and restart once more... some users report this sequence fixed the problem.

    In 2006, I became aware of my early days of nightmare of identity theft. These criminals in cyberspace have also stole my time and finances. Is there a quick way to receive help, support Technique were wonderful when it is able to connect.

    I have seen today, how they already put counterfeit copies of my website logo and another photo, I used on a Google page + to add to their gallery. Also collect data from another another SEO, including Microsoft Security appears to have locked my IP address to enter, as to receive reports of errors. • Not able to install the update to Security Advisory 2718704 security.

    Original title: Security Advisory 2718704.

    Hello

    I am running Windows XP Tablet SP2 because SP3 trashes my graphics card.
    Should I worry about FLAME? What do you recommend?
    When I tried to apply the patch, I got a message that I need SP3!

    Thank you

    Info: Support for WinXP SP2 ended nearly two years ago.

    Fact: The computer lacks literally scores of critical security updates.

    Fact: The computer in question must NOT be connected to the internet or local area network (i.e. other computers) in its current state. All your personal data (e.g., banking online & passwords credit card) must be considered at risk, if not already compromised.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    OPTION A: Take the computer to a local computer equipment recycler & kiss goodbye.
    OPTION B: Format the hard drive and then do a clean install (another?) of Windows. [Remove Acronis images previously created in advance].
    Follow the instructions in this post of mine in another forum (to-the-letter & in order! ): http://aumha.net/viewtopic.php?f=62&t=44636
    If you need additional assistance with the clean install, please start a new thread in this forum: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_xp-system
    Tip: If you still have problems with the pen after cleaning install, chances are that you just need a driver updated for the capture software. You should be able to find the update of the pilot on the bridge or the device, the manufacturer download pages.
    Wish I had better news for you.  Good luck!
    I have nothing to contribute to this discussion.
    Hello
    To enhance the security and performance of your computer, it is recommended to remove the updates.
    If you do not use automatic updating, you must check the updates at least once a week. Microsoft publishes updates generally important on the second and fourth Tuesday of the month. However, updates could be released at any time.
