Installing XP on Satellite P200 (PSPB3)

Hi all

I'm trying to install XP Pro SP2 (unattended) on my laptop of neighbors. He recently bought it 2nd hand with Vista Home installed.

The installation program recognizes the HARD drive (without having to install the SATA drivers?!), so I formatted the HARD drive and I continued the installation. After Setup has completed, the system has rebooted. I thought that the only thing to do would be installed the drivers, but I got a blue screen instead!

Tried formatting and installing again: same blue screen...

I have already installed the same Xp on 4 other systems, and after entering the product key correct they all run perfectly!

I didn't downgrade the bios.

Any suggestions?

Thank you very much!!!

me and my neighbor...

It of very strange that the XP recognize the HARD drive without an additional installation of SATA drivers.

However, the driver SATA (Intel Storage Manager) is required.

Additionally, make sure that you have used the Win XP with SP2.
Without SP2, the laptop can run into problems.

Good luck

  • Not possible to install XP on Satellite P200 PSPB3E

    Hello

I have a PSPB3E satellite; my friend and I tried to install Win XP on this laptop.
W have all of the drivers, on the site of toshiba, (also the SATA driver diskette), but it seems impossible to install XP.

We need XP for medical application (ultrasound). Uptill now, we tried: vista House downgrade to xp--> without success.
HARD drive total format; boot from the XP cd--> without success.

All the partitions have been deleted. We do not know what do us wrong. Al 1 last time XP installed OK but after he was scheduled to return: he had a blue screen for a second and you can only start up in save mode... and even that does not work.

Does anyone know what do us wrong, or someone has a solution for us?
Maybe the only way is to build in a new clean HARD drive?

    Hello

I m not 100% sure what harm s but I assume that the bad Intel Matrix Storage Manger has been installed.
Please visit the page of the Toshiba driver and download the Intel Storage Manager.

Do you use the Win XP OS, which includes SP2?
You must use a MS XP CD with SP2! It is very important

Friend here is my advice; I think you need to create a new XP CD using a freeware program called nLite (try Google for this program).
Then you could include SP2 and the (driver sata) Intel Storage Manager using the nLite to the XP operating system.

Finally, you should boot from the XP CD created new and should use it to reinstall XP on the P200 ;)

    Hello

I think I have the solution
You must first install the Intel Matrix storage Manager before you continue the installation of XP Setup!

You can find the Intel Matrix storage Manager here:
    http://Downloadcenter.Intel.com/Filter_Results.aspx?strTypes=all&ProductID=2101&OS FullName = Windows * + XP + Professional & lang = eng & strOSs = 44 & submit = Go %21

Please come back and you results reports

  • Issue installing XP on Satellite P200

I have the same problem as many others with a configuration of installation of XP not finding not all hard disks. I read through the topics of the forum dealing with this issue, but still have a problem. When you try to install the Intel Matrix Storage Manager installation crashes.

I tried the method "Press F6" and nLite method (i.e. change the installation CD to include the pilot) and the result is the same in any event. I also used two different versions of the driver, on the site of Toshiba, and one later from the Intel site, but again, the result is the same in both cases.

The driver I have try to install is the "Intel(r) 82801HEM/HBM SATA AHCI Controller" as this is the one already installed for Vista. The Setup program tries to load iaStor.sys, but fails with the error ' file iaStor.sys caused an error in unexpceted (32768) at line 2108 in d:\xpclient\base\boot\setup\oemdisk.c.»

The laptop model is a PSPB7E-008005EN and I downgraded the BIOS with an XP version.

Someone else has experienced this problem and better yet solved?

    One question;

Do you use the XP with SP2 preinstalled?

    Please check everything first!

  • Network drivers required for Satellite P200 13z PSPB0 Win XP wireless

    Hi guys,.

There was vista home installed on Toshiba satellite P200-13z (PSPB0). I made mistake by installing vista first hard disk half and then installed xp pro on the rest of the hard drive. Now my phone won't show me dual boot menu

On my C - Vista drive

On my drive D - XP

When I start my laptop, it just goes straight path to XP, so I'm not able to choose vista on my laptop even, it's there.

XP took the other driver except them Chicony usb 2.0 cam, PCI Device, video controller and the network driver

I looked on the download site of Toshiba and only able to find Realtek RTL8139/810 x player Lan, which I installed it, but still, my wireless network does not.

Now I don't know what network driver I required to connect to internet through wireless (Wi - Fi) for my XP operating system

ADV me please this as other drivers I need to download and the place where, so I can connect to internet with wifi.

    .

    > When I start my laptop, it just goes straight path to XP, so I'm not able to choose vista on my laptop even, it's there.

I had the same problem after installing Win XP on my laptop.
The fact is that Win XP destroyed the Vista Boot Manager and so you can not choose the Vista operating system.
But you can fix it using the MS Vista disc (not recovery disc). Simply start the Vista disc and choose the repair option.
    This will solve this problem.

But after that you will not be able to start Win XP.
The solution; go to Vista, install freetool called EasyBCD and include the Win XP operating system and partition for the Vista Boot Manager.
    That helped to me.

    Regarding the WiFi network:
The laptop uses the ATHEROS 802. 11B / G WLan card.

  • Satellite P200-13F slow with Vista installed

Wow, after 2 weeks of waiting we had the newest Satellite P200-13F... fantastic... Well, is more then a couple of months... then the problems started to irritate. At the same time, we moved to another country... great, but the laptop is still away from work properly...

In the computer store they told me laughingly that memory of 1 MB is really stupid. Everyone knows that Vista works well on 1 MB.

So pass it... Yes, of course, to the place where? hahaha, only 1 MB more... a joke... But, we must try something... I m still crying... it doesn t do anything better then before...
Today, Toshiba cares not less. I mean, they got the money and we have a laptop... or something that should work as it...
Any laptop with Vista a minimum 2 MB and an upgrade to 4 MB...

Logic that so many people complain about Vista. It will not work with 1 or 2 MB...

No, you paid for something, which is stupid. We have to pay again to let XP is installed. Is option... fantastic, thank you very much, Mr toshiba...

Is knowing how far I came up with this thing... This Toshiba... is there someone who knows how to fix this laptop, let me know...
Our satellite is the laptop slower I have ever seen...

    Hello

I have a Satellite P200 and it s great running; with Vista and Windows XP.

First you misunderstood something; the laptop can be upgraded to 2 GB upwards and not to 2 MB ;) there is a big difference.

Secondly the Vista works well also with 2 GB of RAM.

I think you don t know much about computers because performance notebook doesn't depend only on the value of the RAM, but more CPU, GPU and Chipset installed!

I think that your suggestion on nits P200 means that Notepad starts slowly, etc.
In my opinion that you n t know that laptop computers are preinstalled with different applications that are run in the context of the OS and need material resources.

These background processes are created by the software that controls the functions of the laptop as FN key, command buttons, touchpad, Toshiba Flashcards, internal camera, etc... etc.

Also, the pre-installed Norton Antivirus can slow performance.
I used the Symantec Norton Antivirus too and was not satisfied with the performance and so I deleted and replaced by the free tool called Antivir.
My laptop is now faster and better managed, and better, I also used CCleaner to clean the operating system and the registry and removed unnecessary programs that slow down performance.

Then maybe you should do that too and you will see that your P200 is a lot faster than you think!

Have a boyfriend of the beautiful day :)

  • Impossible to install a Vista clean 64 bit on Satellite P200-1I6

    Hello

I have the Toshiba Satellite P200-1I6. I've taken over product DVD that works, but I want to do a clean install of Vista 64 bit OS but
My toshiba do but not any version of Vista - only Toshiba product recovery DVD.

Someone knows how to fix this?

Have you installed or included the SATA driver?

The new laptops are equipped with a SATA controller and this is why you would need to include the SATA drivers that would recognize the HARD drive correctly and would help to insatall the Windows operating system!

  • Satellite P200 - Microphone has stopped working after installing Windows 7

My Satellite P200 came with Vista Ultimate, the mic has worked for a few months, all of a sudden it stopped. I decided to install Windows 7, but the microphone still does not work.
    Any ideas anyone?

I use this laptop for skpe my people a lot. I can use an external mic very well, but really want my only integrated works again.

    Hey Buddy,

Sounds like there of something wrong with your installation of Windows 7 so the microphone doesn t work anymore...

I recommend updating the driver of the webcam, because the microphone is a part of it. You can find updates driver here:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com

I put t know what Satellite P200 you have exactly, but if you can t find a driver Windows 7 for webcam, choose another model which is fully Windows 7 taken in charge, e.g. by Satellite P300.

  • Satellite P200 - cannot install XP due to lack of HARD drive

    Hello...

I have the Toshiba Satellite P200, with Windows Vista home edition.
    I want to remove and install win XP but I have the problem;
I can t install windows xp. I have this message: Setup doesn't detect any hard disk...

A friend tell me what s due to the update of the Bios, but I can t solve the problem

    Please help me

    Thank you

    Hello

First of all you shouldn't t believe everything say this as some computer beginners.
It s NOT a BIOS issue.

Your HARD drive is not visible during the installation of Win XP because the SATA driver was not included!
The laptop supports the SATA controller and a SATA driver must be included in Win XP to recognize the HARD drive!

But I don t want to write the whole story again that this issue has been addressed 1000 times here in the forum. I recommend this forum a little bit and search for similar topics regarding the installation of Win XP.

A hint; Intel Storage Manager contains the SATA driver ;)

  • Satellite P200-1EE - hard drive not found if I try to install XP

    Hi I have a problem.

I recently bought a Toshiba Satellite P200-1EE laptop computer series (of all things) running Vista and nothing else problems so im trying to install XP Professional and crush Vista.

But whenever I try to install it says "disc not found... no access to.
I heard about such problems before something as a "block of software Protocol.

    Any suggestions?

    Hello!

Why you n t search forum before starting a new topic?
I mean you will find hundreds of discussions on this question here in the forum and you will find the solution to your problem in a few minutes.

Well, the reason for this is because you need the SATA drivers before installing Windows XP. As far as I know that your laptop is equipped with an Intel chipset and so you have the Intel Storage Manager. You can integrate the drivers of external floppy drive or nLite [www.nliteos.com]. In addition, this document could be useful for you:

  • How can I install the 2nd HDD on my Satellite P200 - 14H

    Hello
I want to know, how can I install the 2nd hard disk on my Satellite P200 - 14H and what I have to buy, because when I open the 2nd hdd slot, so I don't see anything about what I could add the 2nd disc

    Thanks, Filip

    Hello

Maybe you don't see the second HARD drive connectors because the phone does not support the 2nd HARD drive?
Not all laptops even if the 2nd HARD drive Bay is available, support two hard drives.
Laptops come with different hardware and different motherboards, but with the same coverage
So the bays for HARD drives are available, but the motherboard does not support the 2nd HARD drive interface.
