Instance and database

Hello

I am new to Oracle admin stuff, so I have a very simple question, grateful if someone can answer on the same.

In oracle 1 instance can handle or is related to Maximum 1 database only, is it true? ... where as on the other hand 1 database can be managed by multiple instances of Oracle which is called concept CARS...

Concerning

Learner

I still give this definition both in my class, an Instance is a gateway to the database. If you have the default instance linked to a database.

A few times, this 1:1 confugration is not optimal due to the excessive workload and/or the conditions required to be more available, then we go for n: 1 where N = number of cases associated with a database (RAC). The definition still stands, because even now, you can go to any Forum and to the database.

    Hello
    I would like to ask, could I install database (with dbca) instance and database on different computers software? How could I log instance and database software in different places?

    Thanks awfully for help.
    Concerning

    Yes,

    Machines 1 - install the software of database here.

    Linux: Install the DB files on NFS mounted directory
    Machine 2 - use for NFS export / share directory to another UNIX / Linux computer
    Easy to install - http://www.cyberciti.biz/faq/linux-export-directory-with-nfs4/

    Windows: Install the DB files on the shared drive mapped.
    Machine 2 - Share the directory and map it on the Machine 1.

  • How the installation program an Oracle 12 c and database instance without using DBCA, or YES?

    Hello

    I was in charge of the implementation of an Oracle 12 c instance and a database on Redhat 6.4. The caveat is that I can't use the DBCA or YES GUI to do this, I can only use the command line...

    The other issue is there is already the default ORCL instance and the database. So I need to get up a second instance and database, to the sides of it.

    Which is fine, but it is almost impossible to find tutorials on how to do this way.

    So if someone can tell me a good doc on how to do this it would be much appreciated.

    Thank you

    It would be at this point that I would like to inform my boss that the way he wants me to approach my work will make me very unproductive. I could no longer made in a short period of time, if I could use the tools Oracle provides for me.

    Maybe I got lucky, but I've never worked for a manager who gave me details like this in the way of my job. Generally said "here's the requirements, now get on with the job." His place for me to decide how to do the task at hand. That being said, I could definitely see a Manager saying something like "we don't have the budget by Exceed for your XWindows environment' (or other 3rd party software X), but that doesn't stop me using X if I could find a way to do it within budget.

    You can certainly install the software silently without X. Google for Oracle Silent Install and you should get a lot of success. You will need to create a response file, and then run the YES program with her. This gives you the software installed with only the command line.

    Regards to the manual creation of the database, you can do it too. Here is a link to the Oracle documentation: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B28359_01/server.111/b28310/create003.htm#ADMIN11073

    Have fun! It is so much easier with the DBCA Wizard now.

    Finally, if it were me, I would give my post to the company a serious reflection. I prefer to work for a boss who gives me rather than a solely responsible for micro me. I do not say your in a bad position. I don't know all the details. You can be perfectly happy with this work, that would be great! But the comments of the kind that a Manager always give me pause.

  • Coexistence between instances of database RAC and standalone database

    Hello
    We used the configuration / ASM stand-alone instance of database. We want to implement RAC database instances now. We have seen some docs on the database instance autonomous single CARS DB instance migration. We do not want to migrate stand-alone db db CARS. is it possible instance CARS of installation on the same cluster without disturbing instance of stand-alone database.

    Thank you.

    Hello buddy,

    Yes, is possible to create a single instance database in a CCR environment, there is an option in DBCA.

  • Running the Single Instance and RAC on the same server of different homes.

    Hi guys,.

    I already have 4 node RAC12c installed on OLE 6.

    I'm planing on some of my other 12 single instance databases on other migration for RAC nodes.

    Please correct me here if I am wrong...

    My understanding is that, to be able to use DBCA or rconfig for conversion of database instance RAC, the only instance and RAC cluster must run on the same server or machine node.

    Thanks to this understanding... Am planing on the installation of a binary single instance on one of my cluster node node1 say and then use RMAN to duplicate the single instance or just an RMAN restore from the node of the instance that is unique to this node1. Am capable of this plan must then use DBCA or rconfig to convert the CARS database.

    Now, my question is can I run a single instance and RAC on the same server for different homes with different database ports?

    2. for these unique instance that runs on the server RAC 1 node, can I use the RAC database listener that runs from the House of the grid or I have to create another auditor?

    Thank you in advance and also let me know if I can use DBCA or rconfig when the only instance and rac database are on separate nodes.

    K

    Fix. And that's what I would normally do. In general, I would have just an ORACLE_HOME directory that can be used by the punctual and RAC databases at the same time.

    See you soon,.

  • Model certified followed for Instances of database?

    I'll implement models on OEM 12.1.0.3 monitoring for guests, agents, instances of database etc by copying and modifying Oracle certified models, using "create as ' then apply to my goals.  There are models certified for guests and agents, but I don't see one for database Instances.  Is there a models certified for database Instances (such as the metric of tablespace used %, share pool % cached, alert etc.)?

    Another way to create a template with parameters is out-of-box metric collection for database instances:

    -Access the company > surveillance > surveillance models.

    -Click on create.

    -Select copy control settings using: target Type

    -Select:

    -Target the Type category: databases

    -Target Type: Instance of database

    -Click on continue to continue to create the model.

  • Grid below: various UNIX users for grid and databases?

    Hello

    I am trying to install 11 GR 2 + (Standard Edition 11.2.0.3) + with the grid Infrastructure (we use ASM) on a brand new RHEL5 (64B).
    When I'm done with this one I'll have to do the 'same' several regional advisory councils of 2 knots and other single-instances.

    As stated in the official documentation, I created 2 separate unix, named grid and oracleusers.
    -Grid is the owner of the grid below
    -Oracle is the owner of the RDBMS
    +(They both have oinstall As Primary Group) +.

    They both share the same ORACLE_BASE (that is + / oracle + in my case)
    But as this directory was created by the user to the network (with umask 022), the oracle user does not have permission to write to this directory.

    Therefore, the installation of RDBMS is a failure (so I added the write privilege to the user oracle on ORACLE_BASE)
    I also had to give the privilege of writing on c++ / oracle / product + and + / oracle / cfgtoollogs + to go throught RDBMS installation and dbca.
    Now, when Nicole netca, she complains c++ / oracle/cfgtoollogs/netca +...

    Just to illustrate, it is that the c++ / oracle + is currently:
    $ ls -l /oracle/
    total 60
    drwxrwx---  5 grid   oinstall  4096 Mar 19 10:45 admin
    drwxrwxr-x  7 grid   oinstall  4096 Mar 15 17:31 cfgtoollogs
    drwxr-xr-x  2 grid   oinstall  4096 Mar  9 18:21 checkpoints
    drwxr-xr-x  2 grid   oinstall  4096 Mar  9 18:16 Clusterware
    drwxrwxr-x 11 grid   oinstall  4096 Mar 12 12:23 diag
    drwxrwxr-x  2 oracle oinstall 16384 Feb 20 15:36 lost+found
    drwxrwx---  6 grid   oinstall  4096 Mar 12 18:55 oraInventory
    drwxrwxr-x  3 grid   oinstall  4096 Mar  9 18:12 product

    drwxrwxr-x 10 oracle oinstall  4096 Mar 12 18:00 sources
    Of course, it's no big deal and I might be chmod-ing occur each directory to which this question, but I feel "bad practices."
    We are talking about production machines that I might have to administer for some time and I don't want to "bolt" or "poorly designed" day 1.

    I saw him on most of the installation of RAC 11 GR 2, her infra grid and RDBMS have been installed on the same user unix (oracle), which makes administration easier.

    What I want to know is:
    -What is the best of a +(by DBA I mean in charge of both ASM and databases) point of view s/n +.
    -There's an official paper which recommends to NOT to serve distinct user grid infra and RDBMS +(or at least something to say wheither it's safe/supported or not to use a single user) +.

    Thanks in advance to all who will have on their time to help me.

    Hello

    Wouldn't be safe / smart to opt for a single unix users, always have different home for GridInfra and RDBMS?

    Have different OH (ORACLE_HOME) on the GRID (clusterware) and RDBMS is required. Have different OB (ORACLE_BASE) on the GRID and RDBMS is recommended by Oracle, but you have a possibility to place the GRID and RDBMS on OB. even

    If the issue is users:

    It really depends on how and who will manage your Cluster environment. I believe that for every choice, we have a reason for this choice.

    So, if you have a cluster with many users of OS (operator / DBA / Sysadmin) access to this system... I recommend you to use Job separation of roles, this keep your environment more organized and secure.

    But if the user (Sysadmin/DBA) who will be responsible for administering the Oracle database is the same who will manage the grid... I don't get to use the separation of job roles.

    Although for use separation job roles really made a difference for that access through the BONE Cluster resources and ASM... With respect to the binary installation only root has privileges to change.
    In the Oracle introduced 11.2 security version that protects Network Infrastructure installation binary files. This prevents unnecessary changes or access to the OH.
    Change the binary files of the grid infrastructure, to unlock this ORACLE_HOME with root privileges.
    If this security should not be applied to ORACLE_BASE of Installation of the grid. Because this ORACLE_HOME of the GRID must be off ORACLE_BASE. (The documentation does not explain it, suffice it to say that the OB should stay out of the OH)

    P.S/maisons/Oracle Grid Infrastructure for a stand-alone server (Oracle Restart) can be under the Oracle base.

  • Constraints/General to keep PROD and databases on the same Machine TEST

    Hello

    Version: 12.1.1
    Database is 11.1.0.7
    2 node architecture (DB on a single Machine, applications on the same Machine)

    Client wants to keep PROD and databases on the same Machine TEST. Could you please let me know the issues and constraints that we can encounter this configuration in the future. While I can force the client to a machine more TEST.

    Thanks in advance...

    Hello

    My Client told me that I can provide more resources (CPU, memory, and disk), then why can't keep us as what he asks?

    There are other technical problems, that we can meet?

    I think the above should be enough :)

    Other proceedings continued would be impossible (as you said, because of human error, and in case the server restart is required). Even if they provide more resources it would be a conflict over shared resources (for example, what happens if a process on the test instance consuming all CPU/memory resources?).

    So, in futuere, we can improve the database to the new version and some environment variables in the registry may have affected it?

    Each instance will have its own entries in the registry and this shouldn't be a problem.

    Thank you

  • Instance of database blocked

    Hello guys,.

    I have a very specific problem here, let me explain the problem. I installed Oracle 10 g R1 on a windows 2003 SP2 server, create a new instance and test it, al fine so far.
    After that I installed the Oracle Forms and reports 10g, start here all my problems, I can't connect to my database with any customer, I got the following error when tried connecting:
    ORA-12528: TNS:listener: all appropriate instances are blocking new connections
    Listener status indicate the State of the instance as BLOCKED.

    Investigation on the error message ORA resolution saying that bounce the server could solve the problem, but not for me.
    I can start the database but it is a manual procedure and do not want to do whenever the server reboots, so check the registry I can see variables ORACLE_HOME point to the last product (application server) and not to the database, here are the register ORACLE export:

    If someone wants to know how I can fix this problem manually, here are the steps:
    -Open a command window
    -SET ORACLE_SID = TEST
    sqlplus/nolog
    -connect sys/as sysdba
    -to deliver an immediate stop
    ORA-01507: database not mounted
    ORACLE instance stops.
    -Start

    After that I can connect to the database, but how can I solve this problem?

    Hope you can help me, but cordially.

    Everything worked fine before the installation of forms and reports, I think it could be a variable problem of the environment. I saw problems with the listener being started through the service and the windows making path refers to false oracle House or houses in the wrong order.

    I check the value of path of your Windows and make sure the database oracle home (is - this e:\oracle) is the first value.

    Something like...

    Path = e:\oracle\appserver; F:\oracle\product\10.1.0\Db_1...etc.

    should be: -.

    Path=F:\oracle\product\10.1.0\Db_1;e:\oracle\appserver...etc.

    Now, restart the listener and try again to establish the connection.

  • Oracle sid and database name

    Hi guys,.

    I'm a bit confused by the name ORACLE_SID and database. I understand that an instance may be attached to a database, and that a database can be attached to multiple instances.

    Essentially, when we set the values in our init.ora, we set the values of the instance, or the database, or is it a mixture? that is the instance and the database to which it can connect?

    Also, the DB_NAME parameter that specifies what database, the instance can connect to?

    And why does it say in the [Oracle documentation | http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B10501_01/server.920/a96521/create.htm#1003921] which the DB_NAME initialization parameter value must match the SID setting. I thought that they should not be the same?

    Thank you

    1. a DATABASE is the physics of files - data files for tablespaces (SYSTEM, UNDO, TEMP, USERDATA, USERINDEXES etc.), controlfile (s), redolog files and possibly the archivedlog files.

    2. an INSTANCE is the set of processes that access the database. So, when you start an Instance, you start background processes that allow users to access the files of database.

    3. a DATABASE can have multiple INSTANCES in a configuration of OPS/PAP. Thus, each Instance is configured with a different name - the ORACLE_SID maps the processes of the Instance, the Instance name is the name for the process. (1 single database accesses an Instance)

    4. a listener allows connections when not coming not from the same ORACLE_HOME. The listener starts for a database Instance (via the inputs the listener.ora) or the database records with the listener running (when PMON updates the default listener or "local_listener").

    5. users (ApplicationServers etc.) connect to the INSTANCE, not in the database. Users access the Instance of the SID mapping directly or via a listener. If you have access to via a listener, they specify a SID or a SERVICE_NAME in their connection settings.

    I understand that an instance may be attached to a database, and that a database can be attached to multiple instances.

    Can access an Instance (I would use 'access' rather than 'attach') 1 single database. However, a database available under multiple instances. (In any case, a database is not attach to an instance - this is the mechanism that opens the database files - access).

    When we set the values in our init.ora, we set the values of the instance, or the database, or is it a mixture?

    We put them to the Instance. (It's the ControlFile who really knows the database!

    what the DB_NAME parameter that specifies what database, the instance can connect to?

    If the 'db_name' specified in the init.ora does not match the database name, you get an error and can not access the database.

    Why do we say in the Oracle documentation...

    It is a recommendation and is not mandatory.

    Think about what happens when you CLONE a database. You can CLONE a database to a different instance name, and then change the DB_NAME after a successful RECOVERY and RESETLOGS OPEN (for example that dbca is when it creates a database of preconfigured for you: he one of the clones and then renames the database).
    So, I can clone of database 'PROD_A' ("PROD_A' ORACLE_SID) and ORACLE_SID"TEST_A"during the RESTORE process and to RECOVER the DB_NAME to"TEST_A"remains"PROD_A"until I have recreate the ControlFiles and rename the database"TEST_A ".

    (And we don't start talking about GLOBAL_NAME and SERVICE names-find you on them to confuse you more!)

  • I have some days left in Illustrator in the first instance and I just downloaded today.

    I have some days left in Illustrator in the first instance and I just downloaded today. It was my sisters laptop (now it's mine) and she had her own creative cloud before here. It download the illustrator of the trial at the time (with its own Adobe account) but now there just decided to learn Illustrator - I download the program and it says the trial expired from the moment that I installed it! I was about to pay for a month, but I'm not enough, confident that will happen if I don't? It is said in the contract that if I cancel my order on the first 14 days my money will be found. 14 days this account as part of the trial days? Or will be returned my money even if I have no trial days remaining for a reason that I don't undestand.

    Your sister has already exhausted the allotment of the trial so that the machine when it has installed and used the trial.  You don't get a second chance with the same machine.  The duration of the trial is not considered for the duration of subscription use.  What you might not be aware of, is that you normally are not only subscribe for a month... you can pay for a month, but it is usually part of a one year subscription, for which you are responsible and cannot drop without penalty after the 14 day period.  There is an option to get a subscription per month for a higher cost, so be careful what plan you choose if you don't know that you can find both within 14 days to try out the software.

  • Remove the instance and hiding the subform

    Hello world

    I have a problem with the instance Manager.

    I have a subform repeated containing a button Delete. The delete action works great until I have remove the last instance I want action, not only to remove the last instance, but also to hide the entire subform.

    I use this script on the click event:

    _Person1.removeInstance (this.parent.parent.index);

    I tried to put this on the MouseUp: (found here: http://forums.adobe.com/message/4137110#4137110)

    if (this.parent.parent.instanceIndex == this.parent.parent.instanceManager.count 1) { }

    form1. Personer.Presence = 'hidden';

    xfa.host.messageBox ("what it was");

    }

    else {

    form1. Personer.Presence = 'present';

    xfa.host.messageBox ("" Hello, more cases "");

    }

    If I have multiple instances and delete number one or two, everything works fine. But if I start by removing the last instance that all previous instances are also deleted and the subform "Guests" is hidden. I wanted to just remove one instance at a time.

    Hope there's help out there

    I think what happens is that when you check the Instance Manager for the count, there is nothing to count because there are no bodies. That and try to do it from the object that is removed, there is probably something there too.

    To access the Manager of the Instance of non-existing objects, you must use the shortcut of underscore.

    Then try this on the layout event: loan of the guests subform:

    If (_Person1.count == 0) {}

    This.Presence = 'hidden ';

    }
