• Capture instant causing VM Power Off

  We are short of Equallogic's Auto-Snapshot Manager/VMware Edition of our data protection strategy, and we encountered a problem where every once in a blue moon we will get an error stating:

  This shows how Vmware can not find a disk in the chain of snapshot.  Maybe the chainhas got corrupted. The vmsd file would show the instantaneous chain with the vmx which shows the current disc being pointed.

• Satellite Pro A60 just lost power

  When WinXP Pro said the battery was down to about 9% (ok, I know, I should have plugged the power supply at this time) that appeared dead, lost power completely.   Perhaps that the CPU is overheating, so the laptop turns off to prevent damage. Check you cooling system if there is no dust behind the grille. And take a look at the temperature of the machine when it stops.

  Hey Danny,

  My first thoughts are that your laptop overheated and shut down to protect the internal components. Usually this happens when the laptop then does not light or start with success until everything is sufficiently cooled. However, the fact that Windows close normally would appear to exclude from overheating invariably causes an instant loss of power rather than a controlled stop.

  In any case, it should be clean of dust or fluff the cooling system (use a vacuum hose against the inlets on the bottom of the unit).

  It should also make sure that nothing obstructs the aspiration air grills when the laptop is in use. in order not to place the unit on the soft furnishings, papers etc. in bulk.

  Finally, I would recommend you analyzing your laptop for virus/malware, just in case something has crept in unnoticed.

  I have a RN102 with 2x3TB red WD leads to XRAID2. I deleted all my photos except one (instant action is 191 GB). However, snapshots take up a lot of space:

  What is the data format?  Instruments can usually transfer using ASCII or binary.  Binary would be more effective.

  GPIB would fill a lot faster (can reach 1 Mbps).  At 9600 baud, you run 1200 b/s, excluding the start and the stop bits.

  Assuming that the binary format to 4 bytes/data point, your serial communication should take about 3.3 seconds.  Assuming ASCII with 12 bytes/data point (pure guessing here), which is 10 seconds.  11 seconds for a transfer is therefore not out of the question.

• 220VAC measured with CompactDAQ?

  I'm building a testbed automated, where I need to measure both single-phase (120 and 277VAC) and two phases (208/240V ca... I am aware that nobody calls him two phases, but that's what you are actually measure... anywho) I have single phase works fine as seen in VI 'DAQ_Sample3', but when I try to apply the same logic to two legs of power my output is only sends me data for a leg.   I went and added two other channels so it measures both legs and two amp clamps... I can connect the DAQ assistant for a graphical output and it shows all four readings, but when I'm trying to transition to power VI it will only calculate one leg.  I have attempted to combine the signals from several different ways, but have not had a bit of luck to get a result that passes the test of reasonablilty... someone who knows a bit more on this taking a glance at the VI I for two can live (DAQ_Sample4-2ph) and point me in the right direction?

  OK, well I finally realized what was going on... Apparently If connect you single phase (one leg and one neutral (120/277VAC) or legs (208-240 VAC) you must measure between a0 and a1 (differential measurement) and not on each leg to land is represented here...) http://zone.NI.com/DevZone/CDA/tut/p/ID/8216  For some reason any if you measure single phase 208-240 VAC and try to measure each leg down the numbers aren't right. I am now in a position through a channel and my numbers are dead on with my parser.

  As a side note, that power might want to add more information to this series of videos... http://sine.NI.com/NIPs/CDs/view/p/lang/en/NID/208111 and comment on the actions of power for all single phase (120/277VAC and 208-240 VAC) should be taken on a single track on the module 9225.  .. .or include a wiring diagram specific for various applications.

• Classic BlackBerry BB Assistant s/w (OS 10.3.1.747) do not pick up the search engines for the default browser

  In Blackberry companion settings, I put my favorite "search for device settings" in the "extended" tab without google (IE at the top) and deselected yahoo and bing (see the first photo, the link below).

  When then by performing a search in the home screen classic BB (see second pic, below), then selecting the first option (instant action: research dethrone internet), this opens a search engine Bing instead of my preferred configuration of a Google search.  If I scroll search suggestions Assistant of BB, display the correct set of options "extended search".  The problem seems to only the part itself during the selection of the first selection 'instant action '.

  I wanted to share a quick solution, while we are studying the issue.

  If possible, you can change the default search engine in the browser itself? This will ensure BlackBerry Assistant conduct searches on the Internet using this search engine instead.

  To do this, open the browser and enter the text in the address bar. Along the top of the screen, at the top right you will see the most likely Bing icon.
