Intel Core 2 Quad Q9650

I have a Dell t3400 with a core 2 duo E6550 2.3 workstation proc 4 GB OF RAM.  Running Windows 7.  5400 RPM Sata disks, no RAID.

As you can imagine, I'm running into some problems with CS5.  So far, there has not been a big problem, I did only 5-10 minutes of video clips.  The only problem I really encountered is when the preview and I transition from one clip to another by using cross fader or some other transition, the sound continues to move the video freeezes.  My CPU is also in the range 98-100% used.  To work around it, I just get as close I can with the preview and then just export the video output and look at him.  I take notes and go back and fix what I.  It's a pain in the *, but it's worked so far

Most of my videos are single layer, double layer occasionally.  I do a 30-40 minute video then export to check how everything is to the search won't work.  The export of 5 minute clip takes 20 minutes with that math, I'm looking at several hours just to check my progress.

The caveat I have to work with is a limited budget.  I'm stuck here for a while.  I did some research and I found some http://www.adkvideoediting.com/ systems that are about $1500.  This is over my budget.  I have $500 to work with.

This brings me to my question.  My machine will support the Intel Core 2 Quad Q9650.  I will need to put in my the 300w to 525w power supply level.  If the processor to $325, $150 for the power supply and heat sinks misc / cables, that I might need, I'm at my budget.  Next month, I may go back the RAM 8 GB which is max for the system.

Here, the experts feel that it would enhance my experience?   I would not spend $ 500 and another $ 200 next month only to be slightly better. Then I get out of half the cost of a new machine and always need a new machine.

Unfortunately I have not the time to save enough for a new machine before the end of my project, so if this isn't worth it, I'll start looking to borrow some time from another machine of people.

Thanks for your time.

Absolute waste of money to try to improve this system. Even if you have a faster processor, 16 GB of memory, has added an SSD and a 600 GB drive at 7200 RPM, it would still have died slow, and for that cost, you could almost build a decent system (not Dell or HP, they rob you blind without giving you the performance).

Try using a computer from neighbours/friends/family to get to the date limit and record at the same time for a new.

Maybe not what you wanted to hear, but that's the situation.

    Hello

I have a Satellite A350-13 b with motherboard KTKAA-4571P. He came originally with Intel Core 2 Duo P8600 processor.

My question is, if this will work with the Intel Core 2 Quad Mobile Q9000 CPU?

    Kind regards.

    Hey Buddy,

The Intel Core 2 Duo P8600 is always very fast CPU with 2x2.4 GHz and Grande Cache L2. The processor is fast enough for all applications.

    Why you want to upgrade?

  • Hypervisor + Intel Core 2 Quad Q8200 CPU?

After obtaining some malware on my PC at home, I am considering it destroy and installing vSphere Hypervisor (and then buy a copy of 32-bit of Windows Vista, because my CPU 64 bit but will not support 64 bit OS comments).  My CPU is an "Intel Core 2 Quad Q8200 CPU".  Someone at - it reason think that vSphere hypervisor does not work on it?  I'm not in the list of supported chips, but I've seen a few references to him in these forums.

The Intel page for said chips "Intel® virtualization technology (VT - x)" is not included, worries me slightly, but I don't know enough to know if it is critical or not.  I am successfully under VMPlayer (with Ubuntu 9).

    Thank you

ESX/ESXi are hypervisors 'bare metal '... You get only a based on linux with ESX service console, and you only have an interface very (very) minimum on ESXi (for the configuration of the host, do NOT use any VM)... You connect to the virtual machine running on ESX/ESXi via vSphere Client, run on a second system. The rest of the products such as VMware Player and even the Server VMware Workstation (which is NOT ESX/ESXi) allow you to run virtual machines on a host operating system. With ESX/ESXi, which IS the host OS, so there is nothing else to use.

If you do not have a second decent system to use to run the vSphere Client, then I opt to go with VMware Workstation and run 32 bit VM on it. Max memory on the system (so you can give more to VM) and put a minimum on the host operating system.

In General, ESX/ESXi is used on the server class (or upper class of workstation level) / hardware systems. I've had excellent results running ESXi on a Dell Precision Workstation T7400 for a couple of years now. I use my PWS490 to launch the vSphere Client to administer the host and connect to the virtual machine running on it. I could start my XPS 720 Tower out of a USB flash drive that I installed ESXi 4 on... You might try to go this route, to see if you can even install it and run it on your system (this will be the least destructive test method)... You can find instructions here... I suggest to use the method to install ESXi on a USB directly from the installation CD as this should be less problematic. I did successfully on a 2 GB USB flash drive not long ago... I plan to do with ESXi 4.1 soon (could opt for a 4 GB flash drive this time)...

You will still need to test it with another system to connect to the host if you plan to run virtual machines on ESX/ESXi however...

    http://www.Newegg.com/product/product.aspx?item=N82E16819115017

BTW I upgraded RAM drive HARD video card and POWER supply to most professional things, so now the only things left which may require an upgrade is really the CPU (the reason im asking this question) and also the motherboard...

The power supply and the things I receive or that you have already installed work and are 610w which is a little more power I need... The power supply plugged in right now is 305 w LOL!

This CPU is the cheapest or for money that I can find on newegg.com and there as customers more than 2100!

    Ed:

I think that it won't work but I thought I just needed an update of ram about 2 weeks ago and that he went to the PSU card AND now I play COD4 with 2.5 GB 3.2 ghz and 512 MB 256-bit 600 mhz 1800 mhz card WOW, but I heard that now, this processor is considered squat of pit for recent games... If I need to update my motherboard I don't think I can remove because I already ordered a power supply, a GPU and more ram...

It is becoming a bad loss for more than 40 hours of research and more than $250?

THANKS for any help that sort of thing really takes a lot of my own brain ram haha!

    Hello

The Q9650 is the top of the Yorkfield CPUs, see upgrades to the processor in your PC.

If four processors are busy at 75%, then you probably won't see much of a benefit by doing an upgrade. More than 90% and it could be logical.  Less than 90% use won't timeout of processor big queue.

If you are having problems of performance with SkyRim and then find a patch of SkyRim.  You can also consider the latest "beta" for your video card NVIDIA driver.

  • The upgrade of Intel Core i7 processor 920 w / Hyperthreading

I have a Pavilion Elite d5000t with a motherboard Asus IPIBL-TX.  Currently, I have an Intel Core 2 Quad processor and upgrade to quad i7 w / hyperthreading.  The current motherboard will support this processor or do I have to upgrade it as well?  Thank you!

    -Jake

    The i7-920 (and all the i7 - 9xx) use a socket 1366.

    The i7 - 8xx (as well as the I5-870) use a socket 1156.

So yes... or need a new motherboard

The slabs 1366 (and fleas) allow triple channel memory configuration. (assuming that you buy the correct combination of the RAM of the system: not all proposed configurations will be a Tri-channel performance).

1156 slabs (and chips) will allow the configuration of memory dual channel (assuming that you buy the correct combination of the RAM of the system: not all proposed configurations will be a performance dual channel)

All i7 chips are hyperthreading. The i5 chip is not.

There is debate if tri-channel ram 1066 is actually faster than ram dual channel 1366. Of course, don't buy a PC with a misconfiguration of ram.

  • New HP ENVY 17 Quad t mobile, Intel® Core? I7-4700MQ unable to connect to the internet

Just got a HP ENVY 17 t mobile Quad, Intel® Core? I7-4700MQ.  It shows my WiFi as a maximum of five bars.  Sometimes it connect, but most of the time, it shows limited.  Either way I can't connect to the internet.  I have another laptop (Windows 7), a desk top (XP), two smartphones (Android) and a TV (who knows) who have no problem connecting, I doubt given that the router.  I tried to do some research with the other laptop but most suggested solutions require that I connect to the inernet - duh - that doesn't work :-)

To complicate the situation, it is also my first experience with Windows 8 so just to try to sail on the new laptop is a real challenge :-)  If you need basic unfortunately information you need me to scroll the steps to find :-)

BTW - running Windows Network Diagnostics I get "Wi - Fi" has a valid IP configuration.

Found a solution: turn the power off, have a beer or two and a few hours later started working with her again I have no idea what happened, but he began to connect to the WiFi last night and did it again this morning guess now I have to start learning how to use Windows 8

Nope.  Intel chips use different chipsets and different the SB of AMD processor sockets.  If your computer is equipped with an AMD processor you must upgrade with an AMD processor.

Restart the PC, go to control panel, hardware and sound > sound > manage audio devices, and then select speakers as the default value.

  • HP Compaq 8510p: is it possible to update from the Intel Core 2 Duo T8300 CPU on the HP Compaq 8510p to a T9600

    Hi all

I want to upgrade my HP Compaq 8510p.

I have an Intel Core 2 Duo T8300 installed. It's pretty fast, but I would need to increase the RAM memory. Unfurtunately, it only supports 3 GB. I searched the web and found the T9600. Similarly, the T9700 and the Q9100 have a the same base (P) and have been suggested here: http://www.cpu-upgrade.com/CPUs/Intel/Core_2_Duo_Mobile/T8300 _ (Socket_P) .html

On the other hand, I've read, the Quad may not be supported by the motherboard, which im my case seems to be called 30CS KBC Version 71.36

My BIOS version is the Ver.F.15 of 68MVD

I would be grateful for any help regarding this issue.

    Thank you.

    Alex

Here is the Service Manual that answers all the questions:

    Your manual

See p. 24. Top of page processor listed is a T9500. Quad is not supported. Other processors dual-core as a T9900 might work, but you're better off to take the manual is correct.

The laptop can support that 3 GB RAM because you are not running a 32 bit OS. It is capable of up to 8 GB, but it uses DDR2 and 8 GB of DDR2 memory is very expensive; well over US $100.
