  • I need to back up the C drive on my external drive - system and everything. How can I go about it. ?

I guess my question is, can you backup the whole c drive on an external drive?  I had done it until I installed Windows 8.  I'm guessing that it will allow you to do.  I just did not understand the procedure in force yet.

    Hello

Good to know that your problem is solved. Please do not hesitate to answer, in the case where you are facing in the future other problems with Windows.

  • The hard drive on an external drive without virus imagery etc.

If I do a system image on an external hard drive before you perform a cleanup of the system, any malware virus etc. will load in the image. In addition, if a third party application is required to make the image, all of the recommendations.

    Hello BrianRobertson,

If you already have a virus on your system, then it will be reported in an image. Unfortunately, once you have a virus, you have. You must get rid of it before you attempt to create a system image.

With respect to the third-party imaging software I recommend EaseUS Todo Backup Workstation. This is the application that I use. This particular application is not free, so you'll have to participate with little money. However, EaseUS proceed with a free backup application that you can download here: http://www.easeus.com/disk-copy/ it's called EaseUS Todo Backup free.

  • Try adding an SSD, but now I don't see the hard drive?

I am trying to add a 256 GB SSD on the 1 TB HDD in my Aspire V3 - 772 G.  I put the SSD in the Bay where the hard drive used to be and swapped the hard drive to the extra Bay.  I have cloned the SSD hard drive and can be started either by when you press F12 to select boot Preferences.  However, when I boot with SSD (as I wish I could), I can see is no longer my hard drive.  When I boot by the 1 TB hard drive, both are visible.

I tried to load the hard drive in an external enclosure and I am able to see him as he is connected with USB3. When loading in the drive Bay hard ssecondary, Manager of devices does not see my 1 TB hard drive.  Please let me know if you have ideas for what to try next.

Have you tried swapping the slot of SSD and HDD, just to understand if it is a BIOS limitation?

  • Replacing the hard drive and Recovery console repair turns into a nightmare of activation

I took the hard drive of a computer dell laptop is no longer used and put it in my current toshiba laptop (in which the hard drive was dead prior).

I had my laptop to accept the hard drive by using the recovery console and do a chkdsk with the repair option. After repairs the laptop now wants to be activated.

So now I use my laptop with a hard drive built to a dell computer. Of course, I uninstalled all the bloatware and replaced all the drivers with the right. the hard drive works fine with my laptop. This isn't the problem.

My problem is that windows will not activate. It is a genuine copy of windows xp home edition, purchased from dell. I got through all of the activation methods and they tell me that the installation id is invalid. I'm basically a big circle with phone support to web support.

If my product key is known to be valid for windows xp family when he was on the hard drive in the computer dell laptop, why is it not valid when traded to the computer toshiba laptop and why used someone help me with this problem. I can't be the only one that this has happened?

as a reminder, swapped a hardrive is no longer in use of the computer, a work computer. has ran chkdsk to fix disk errors, after reboot windows is enabled is no longer and requires activation. Activation Assistant will not accept the installation as id being valid and would call support, when I go to real profit online to activate it also error. How can I activate this well-known work product id? I'm not hacking because he is no longer in use, basically, I am on a windows xp home edition right now and nobody will help me.

    Thanks in advance

    Dan

The hard drive Dell has a "Dell" OEM of Windows XP version and a "Dell" product key (and might even be locked BIOS) that will not work on your Toshiba.

As with all versions once installed on a computer/motherboard OEM it cannot be moved to another PC.

  • Need help to replace a physically C drive on several computer disks. I can't LOOSE the data on the secondary drive.

I got 2 hard drives, a small disc with XP Pro and a big drive for storage and memory intensive programs. The disc is dead - physically (he's grinding wheels), not because of software problems. I managed to boot from the XP disk and copied as much as possible on an external drive to install on a new hard drive. Externally will not take the backup file. After that I restarted depui the XP disc, my secondary drive is no longer recognized. I copy the contents of the C drive on an external drive. Here are my questions:
    1. can I ghost the info on a new hard drive and skip the installation? Reason I have CS3 on drive F, but it components installed on the C drive (where CS2 was before I upgraded). I do not have my Adobe CS3 here records because it allowed multi, and my records are currently out of State with the other licensee.
    2. If I install the new disk, starting from the old drive with XP disc, can I ghost? (I have a tour customized for several readers) When I started the drive C before - he tried to install on my F drive. I have not installed (I can't lose the files on drive F), and now the computer does not recognize the drive. I bought a Seagate drive and they have great software for installation - so I'd like to ghost it. The XP disk reduced to nothing the new drive hard as he did the F drive?
and finally, question 3. When the new drive, I get up and running, can I sign out the F drive, plug it back and Windows will see it? CS3 & Quark will still work if I have to do a fresh install?

    Hi jdohugh,

Thanks for posting. If I read your post correctly your hard drive with your operating system on it died, so you lost your operating system and do not have to reinstall but you try to get down the important data before the reinstall.

1 Q: can I ghost the info on a new hard drive and skip the installation? Reason I have CS3 on drive F, but it components installed on the C drive (where CS2 was before I upgraded). I do not have my Adobe CS3 here records because it allowed multi, and my records are currently out of State with the other licensee.

    A. Si your drive with your operating system does not work, I do not think you can ghost it and reinstall as the image would not work. With Adobe CS3 disks, you will need to contact Adobe and get them to perform the installation of additional supports. Simply copy the files likely will not work to reisntall the application.

    2. Q. If I install the new disk, starting from the old drive with XP disc, can I ghost? (I have a tour customized for several readers) When I started the drive C before - he tried to install on my F drive. A: as I said in question 1 if your operating system drive does not an image would most likely fail or be corrupt. If read correctly the other part of the question you the system tried to start installation on your f:\ that matches your drive program and now you cannot access the files on it? With the last part of this question, you will need to contact Seagate to see what makes their software, I'm not sure what you're trying to accomplish by using.

    3. Q. When the new drive, I get up and running, can I sign out the F drive, plug it back and Windows will see it? CS3 & Quark will still work if I have to do a fresh install?

    A. Si you reconnect an extra drive to XP, the operating system should see it regardless of what it was connected to previously. With regard to your programs, if it is a new operating system you load then Yes, you will need to reinstall these applications on the operating system, and they should work with no problems provided that the drive is working correctly.

I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any additional questions.

  • To move all the contents of the C drive to the D drive

I have an ASUS while a desktop computer with a 80 GB C drive and an internal D 2 TB drive. I'd like to go OS (windows 7) on drive C to drive D, since my OS has already taken the most much of the drive C. is possible to do it without reformat and reinstall windows?

Or could I download windows 10 OS on drive D and then remove 7 out of drive C?

The tools of the Windows Image to create a backup of the entire drive to an external drive and put the recovery disk.

Disconnect the old drive and connect the other boot disk recovery and do a restore point to the external drive. If you have ports USB 3, you may need to connect to a USB 2 port to see the image of the system.

Recovery will create an 80 GB partition to match the source disk to restore, but once completed, you can use disk management to extend the C drive in the empty space on the new drive.

  • Installation of XP operating system in model of lab manager... No hard drive detected?

I am currently trying to obtain a model of machine configuration virtual xp in lab management. I have deploy the model, mount the .iso image file, start the installation, but then installing XP spits a message that there is no hard drive detected on the computer. I checked the properties on the machine, there is obviously a hard drive I put in place. It is in the format of BusLogic SCSI parallel. Is there a specific reason for this installation isn't or doesn't see is not the virtual disk? I have not really found something in the help or documentation which speaks of a specific operating system installation issue. Everything is useful, thanks in advance.

To install Windows XP, you must have a driver for the disk controller VMware disc. You can consult this article for download one-

    http://KB.VMware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=1000863&sliceId=1&docTypeID=DT_KB_1_1&dialogID=32908933&StateID=0%200%2029476991

If that one doesn't work, then, you must submit a request for support and ask management to send you the right driver

  • Tecra S3: Installation of Vista does not recognize the HARD drive

I try to install Vista Ultimate on my Tecra S3, but installation does not recognize the HARD drive.

I tried to find the driver for Vista for my computer, but not found RAID.
Tried it with XP drivers, but no longer works.

Do you have an idea where I can download Vista drivers for RAID?

    THX

    Hello

Your suggestion is good. The Tecra S3 supports the RAID, and the RAID driver is required to install the OS on the HARD drive.
On the European driver Toshiba page I found a RAID for XP driver.

I put t know if this driver will run under Vista, but I recommend to test.
The RAID XP 1.3.8.0 driver version can be downloaded from this site:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_drivers_bios.jsp?service=EU

Please note; You can store the RAID driver on an external USB and Vista should recognize it!

    Good luck
