Interactive PDF - iPad & iPhone capacity

I've got this client who is eager to create an interactive PDF form for them (no problem) and put a link on their website for people to view online. However, they would like as the PDF to be pulled up to an iphone or ipad if necessary. I don't have much experience with this, so I don't really know where to start. Any suggestions? Can someone point me in the right direction?

The key point is that not all PDF readers can properly manage forms. Here are some comments I made on the subject of the capacity of the iPad/iPhone PDF reader:

For the interactive PDFS, not all readers are equal

If read you them in order, you will see that the free Adobe Reader is getting better that I wrote in my first article.

I created an interactive pdf using page transitions IE. stores and the opening on an iphone or an ipad, the transition from blind page does not work is this normal?

Interactive PDF is nothing else than a roll of the dice on mobile devices and highly dependent on the reader app installed.

  • I created show and hide features in InDesign I want to export to interactive PDF format. These functions work when seen in Acrobat on the desktop, but not on iPad/Tablet - why?

I created show and hide features in InDesign I want to export to interactive PDF format. These functions work when seen in Acrobat on the desktop, but not on iPad/Tablet - why?

Why? Most likely because the PDF Viewer on the Tablet is too stupid to deal with show/hide functionality.

You could try PDF Expert of Readdle on qpdf Notes Pro on Android and iOS devices.

Depending on how the show/hide was created during the export of InDesign, it can work in viewers. Otherwise, you will need to open PDF files in Acrobat and edit features show/hide something more digests of PDF device viewers.

BTW, you will encounter the same issues with the PDF display components in web browsers.

    I hope this can help.

    Hello

If you have created a PDF form using Adobe Acrobat application, then you can fill in the form using Acrobat Reader on iPad/iPhone.

After creating the Acrobat on your PC/Mac application form, please register as a reader extended PDF.

In Acrobat, click file > save as other > Reader Extended PDF > activate tools plus (includes filling form & save)

This makes open the PDF file on your iPad/phone and Acrobat Reader and you can fill in the form.

Also, you can make use of Adobe app fill & sign to complete the PDF form.

I would like to know if it works.

  • How can I convert a pdf of 300 pages A4 complex with images in a suitable everywhere epub eReaders (iPad, iPhone and kindle etc.)

    Using inDesign CC

Hi all! Where to start when convert a complex 300 pages A4 PDF with images in an ePub adapted through eReaders (iPad, iPhone and kindle etc.). Thank you

You can't do it directly. If you do not have the original InDesign file, and you want to create an ePub recomposable text, you'll need extract the images and the text of the PDF and start using paragraph and character styles to anchor images and so on. If it is 'complex' you made need to simplify the design, or consider the production of a fixed provision ePub, you create with InDesign CC. The Kindle uses its own format.

  • Interactive PDF (drop down boxes) for iPad

There are 'none' work around an interactive PDF on the iPad? More especially drop-down boxes! I have software that makes my life a lot easier if there is any way to do this or the other third or open on an iMac and save another way?

For the particular shape in question, it was written (probably initially via algorithms of recognition of land) with multiple instances of a drop-down list and a text superimposed on another field.  Because the text field's before the menu drop-down order to field/tab, tap, it is processed first by the Mobile Player.  That's why your experience when you use the Mobile Player is one of a text field.

The areas of Desktop Reader process in the order opposite of field/tab (order), so the experience the user will see is a drop-down list.

I can change the Mobile Player in the fields of process as the office, in the reverse of field/tab (order) so that both products are compatible.  This help you in the short term, however.  To make your form work in the short term with the existing Mobile drive, you can remove the text fields that overlap (they are named as "undefined_n", where n is a number).  On a brief look, these text fields that overlap do not seem to serve a purpose (that they seem not to contain a hidden value or participate in javascript, for example); They seem to be the effect of a kind of (imperfect) automated field recognition algorithm.

    Hope this helps,

  • How to create interactive pdf to Ipad using InDesign CS6

Hi I created a layout of Magazine using InDesign CS6 and wanted to be read on native Ipad reader (but not apps).  I put interactivity features like hyperlinks and page navigations and converted into interactive pdf file. The problem was the links and buttons are not displayed on the Ipad.

I tried to use Acrobat Pro to create hyperlinks, and this time the navigation and hyperlinks are. But is there a way does not create hyperlinks manually one by one (especially the next page and previous page). If I have more than 100 pages of documents, this process will be very painful.

Is there a solution to create interactive pdf directly from InDesign without creating links in Acrobat?

  • Interactive PDF on iPad?

    Hi all

First of all, I'm trying to avoid having to use Flash.

That being said, do the various interactive elements, I can add to an InDesign file (including the integrated video) work in the iPad ecosystem when exported as an interactive PDF?

For example, buttons/links will answer a 'touch' rather than a mouse click?

    Thank you!

Thinking of the Digital Publishing Suite, and has nothing to do with file conversion SWF what anything usable on the iPad. You can convert SWF in HTML5 with Wallaby. http://labs.Adobe.com/technologies/Wallaby/

  • Why is the compatibility between interactive pdf and acrobat dc so bad?

We used Indesign CC14 make interactive pdf with a lot of hyperlinks on the huge books. With the new Indesign CC15, all target links are wrong, the interactive pdf is ok on a desktop computer, but failed on Ipad and Iphone. There is no compatibility between adobe acrobat and adobe acrobat reader DC.

Before an another upgrade to Indesign CC I want questions to be resolved on.

Here's the reality: PDF readers on mobile, including those from Adobe, have limited support for interactive PDF.

This is not new: I wrote about this for years and the situation has not changed:

For the interactive PDFS, not all readers are equal. InDesignSecrets

There are readers who support it, but you may have to pay for them. Try PDF Expert of Readdle (US $9.99).

It has nothing to do in particular with the latest version of Acrobat DC. It is one of the many readers on iPad, iPhone and Android that do not support interactive PDF features. Some features will not work, some will not.

That's why many of us are moving the fixed layout EPUB when we want to view interactivity or animation.

  • Creating interactive PDFs for Mac preview?

I use InDesign CS3 on a PC and creating interactive PDFs for my clients. I just found out that when the interactive PDF is opened using the preview, all layers are displayed at the same time... Is it possible to produce an interactive PDF that works of the same aperture and read by Acrobat and an excerpt? Help, please!

As much as you cannot believe that it is a problem, it is indeed a problem. The reason that the application overview of Mac OS is so light and fast is that she is not completely and correctly implement the complete PDF language specification. Preview is OK, open the simple PDF files made from simple Word documents, e-mails, spreadsheets, and PowerPoint presentations, but it often miserably fails on all that is graphically rich with significant amounts of and/or complex live transparency. There is nothing Adobe can do about it, other than to warn the creative professionals and other users Macintosh of the problem. Adobe Reader is free, whereas in reality, the problem is minimal if the user is ready to install the player.

Note that PDF is a fully documented ISO standard. It is not a question of not having Apple does not have access to the PDF language specification or having to reverse engineer any technology. At this point, Apple seems to believe that his product preview is good enough for the majority of its customers.

Note that the preview for iPhone and iPad iOS version is even more problematic than the MacOS version!

  • Cannot get Mac pdf on iPhone.

    Hello

I have a fully software up-to-date mac and iphone.

I have a PDF around 20 MB of my mac, I want to read on my iPhone.

    I tried the following:

    • Added the PDF to my iBooks application. iBook is set to synchronize everything however the pdf if not appearing is not in iBooks on the iPhone
    • I parachuted the pdf to the iphone, the window of dialogue emerged with «Open in iBooks...» ». Then I pressed the iBooks option and it launched, but the pdf is not there. I tried several times but it opens just iBooks without opening the pdf file. I also checked that there is no filter on it and PDF files are displayed.

I checked and read a lot of pdf, so it is certainly the opening on mac iBooks and overview.

I want to just litrally open this document on my iPhone, it is a little too much email.

Can someone reccoemnd to other ways to read a PDF on my iphone?

    Thank you.

    Hello Wolfsoap,

Thank you for using communities of Apple Support.

I see that you are having problems with getting a PDF from your Mac to your iPhone. I have several things for you to check and two ways to do this.

I would first of all, take a look at your iPad, iPhone or iPod touch with iTunes on your computer via USB to sync and make sure you have correctly set synchronization upward.

Then, this article explains how on the synchronization of the PDF files on your iPhone: use iBooks with PDFs on your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch, more precisely, this section:

    Synchronize and save PDF files

The first time you open iBooks once you upgrade to iOS 9.3 or OS X 10.11.4, you will be prompted to use iCloud. Learn more about synchronization of your books and PDF documents using iCloud.
You can also add PDF files to your iTunes library on your computer by drag-and - drop the PDF file in your iTunes library. The files will be displayed when you prepare your device to synchronize. If you use OS X Mavericks or later, drag and drop your PDF documents into your library to iBooks using iBooks for Mac. All files PDF or iBook in your iBooks library are available to synchronize your device iOS through iTunes.
To synchronize a PDF from your computer to iBooks on your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch:
Select your iOS device. (Learn how to synchronize with iTunes).
    Under settings, click on books.
    Select Sync books.
If iTunes is set to sync only the selected books, make sure that there is to check the box next to the PDF file you want to synchronize.
    Click on synchronize.
You can also use iTunes to back up your PDF files. To transfer a PDF file on your computer and save them, transfer purchases from your device iOS to your computer. These files are not in an iTunes backup. Learn more about what is included in iTunes and iCloud backups.

And finally, this article provides information about synchronizing with iCloud drive:

Sync ePub, iBooks author books and PDFs with iBooks and iCloud

    Best regards.

  • Cannot combine files into a single pdf on iPhone.   I have pack pdf

cannot combine files into a single pdf on iPhone with pack pdf

    Hello

In mobile applications of Acrobat Reader (for iOS, Android), you can convert from and to PDF documents using the PDF Pack online subscription service.

However, the 'Combine files' feature is not available inside the player of mobile applications.

To use the function 'Combine files', you must use the interface of the web browser (https://cloud.acrobat.com/combinepdf) on your Windows or Mac desktop.

You can sign in Adobe Document Cloud via web browsers (Safari, Chrome, etc.) on your iPad/iPhone to download documents or view.  However, you are not able to Choose of PDF documents combine the web browser interface because iOS (operating system) does not allow users to select local documents except the app images Photos.

    Sorry for the inconvenience.
