Satellite C650-110 - confusion of recovery

Hello

I have a Toshiba Satellite C650-110, which seems to be a bit slow, and some Toshiba programs do not seem to respond, so I feel its time restore my laptop to factory settings and start over.
Can someone tell me how I can restore it, recently I was sent a Toshiba Recovery disk, im a bit surprised that was sent only one DVD and Ive had a go but doesn't seem to work.

Do you think that an incorrect disk was sent... or is it just me being stupid and can't do things?

The only reason why I thought this, is usually the recovery disk is normally on 2 discs dvd... or cd loads. Its my mistake of fact should my disc of recovery in the first place.
Thank you very much

Claire

Claire, I think Toshiba knows what they are doing and you should not be worried about it.
Try installing the OS using this disc.

Start your laptop and press F12 to get into the BOOT menu.
Place the recovery disc into the optical disc drive.
In the list of the menu choose device CD/DVD and press ENTER.
Follow the menu on the screen.

That all s that you do.

  • Connection to the Internet by Satellite C650-110

    Hello

I'm no computer expert, but I thought kind of that set up internet on my new laptop would not be a problem... I have the Satellite C650-110. My NET connection is a connection broadband Virgin hard wire Medis and currently, I connect to the internet vis USB as my old office does not have an ethernet port. I tried to plug the USB into the laptop and it does not work. I also tried the ethernet port screw.

I tried to set up new connections in the Panel, I downloaded the driver from this site, I phoned Virgin who say that the bandwidth is fine but there is no network LAN on the PC. Is it possible to buy a new PC without a network lan installed?

    Anyone have any suggestions?

    Thank you

Your laptop's LAN and WLAN cards inside, so it shouldn't be any problem on the Internet connection.

To check first if it please the Device Manager and make sure that the LAN and WLAN cards are listed under network adapters. Can you confirm this?

I put t really understand what you do but the connection to the local network is simple. Take the LAN cable and connect your computer laptop o the router. After a few seconds, you should be able to access the internet.

Hi, hope I can be helped here,

I have a satellite C650-166, there lack of battery while doing a windows update standard, now he used to re boot. I fear not the laptop to factory settings, to rest that I intended to do anyway.

I followed the instructions on the screen to run the Startup Repair tool, but whenever I do this it loads its files, then goes to a black screen with just the cursor.

I tried the, hold 0 way to fix and I just get the same thing every time, I hit the 'repair your computer' then it does not make the system recovery options...

I am using an external monitor, but I don't see what is the problem that I wouldn't be able to see the cursor... surely?

Any help is appreciated and thanks in advance

In general the document recovery disk image installation works as described in follow - http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD1303440001R02.htm
So please try with F8 at startup. Not working?

By the way: I assume that you did not create recovery media, right?

  • My Satellite C650-110 will not work

    Hello

My laptop will not work. It is still covered by warranty Toshibas. The problem is the charger does not work or there is a problem with the connection inside the laptop. When you try and turn on the laptop a yellow light flashes but does not illuminate.

I really don't want to pay for another charger that toshiba may replace it and it is that I could do without spending money.

Has anyone else had the same problem.

    Thank you

Contact the nearest Toshiba service provider. Let them test your laptop and exchanging material which must be responsible for this.

  • Satellite C650 - failed to create the recovery disk - error 020150-20-00000000 code

I hope this is the right place to post this, but I think I have the same problem with my Satellite C650. He keeps wasting DVDs by stopping and saying that it cannot read the file E:\ZZlmg\11544XSP.swm and gives an error code 020150-20-00000000. The file is located on the DVD. I use Verbatim DVD - R The Recovery Media Creator is trying to write the first disc and is at the point of check data. Can you think of another explanation for this error other than the cheap DVD option? Thank you

    Hello

    There are two explanations;
Either the CD/DVD drive firmware is not up to date and contains no information about the drives used discs (CD or DVD) is not fully compatible.
As you know this is happening and is not uncommon.

So first check if a firmware update is available for your CD/DVD drive.
The European driver of Toshiba page is the right place to look for that.
More details you will find in detail if the firmware has been published for your ODD.

If there is no update firmware of your CD/DVD drive, then you should test other discs

    Thank you

Problem is this recovery saved disk image external DRIVE cannot be used. In s manuals document is clearly described that the owner of the laptop must create recovery media. This recovery media can be a DVD disc or USB key, depending on the model of laptop.

What you can do now is to restore disc original order or to install the clean version of the OS with installation of Microsoft disk but it is also not the best solution.

What do you think of all this? If you have any other questions you are welcome.

    Hey,.

    > I tried a standard installation of Windows 7 Home Premium disc, but it does not accept as valid OEM code during online activation.
I assume that you have used the product key on the lower side of your computer laptop, right?
Well, this key doesn t work with disks of standard Microsoft because it affects s an OEM that belongs to preinstalled Windows 7 in Toshiba and t can be used.

If you use a normal Microsoft disk, you must use the product key you received with the disc!

  • Satellite C650 - error reading disk and the recovery disk does not work

    Hello

I have a toshiba Satellite C650, who has recently developed with a disc read error. I want to access the command prompt to try some possible solutions I've read on the internet.

I made a Windows 7 recovery disk using my other acer laptop which has also installed Windows 7 64-bit. When I use the recovery disk and it loaded the files etc it evokes just a black screen and the cursor.

Does anyone have any ideas as to why this is happening?
I tried to start my computer acer laptop from the recovery disk and it worked fine.

As is - this does anyone have suggestions as to why I get the message "disk read error - press ctrl, alt and delete to restart?

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

On this virtual path, it is not easy to offer the exact diagnosis, but of course, there must be a problem with the HARD drive. Can you get a second one for test purposes and exchange it. Just to be sure if the HDD is troublemaker.

    But there is something else:
    > I made a Windows 7 recovery disk using my other computer acer laptop...
Sorry, but I don t understand this. Can you please explain what you did exactly?

  • Satellite C650 - no option of factory on the recovery disk

    Hello

My Satellite C650 caught a virus. I managed to start in safe mode and run AVG. Then stop it down, restarted and now says bootmgr missing. I ve used the recovery disc I made when buying, but it does not give me the possibility of Toshiba restore to factory State. I tried the option repair and everything I can think of.

No idea what to try then as obviously I n t have a Windows 7 disc no matter what help would be most appreciated. Thank you.

    Hi debs2k,

If you start from Toshiba Recovery disk what options you have exactly? Normally, you can restore the out of the box settings if you choose the Recovery Wizard.

Generally all the Toshiba Recovery disk have the ability to restore the original settings, and I can t imagine that your drive doesn't have such an option. So please check again, I m that you have an option to restore the original settings. ;)

  • Satellite C650 - wouldn't boot via USB

Long story, please bear with me

A friend of a friend has a laptop Toshiba Satellite C650 she bought less new year with Windows 7 top and a few weeks ago, she had problems with a virus/spyware and paid somebody £40 who said they would sort it out with it. When it is revenue that he would just try to start XP and then the blue screen of death as XP tries to start. All attempts to communicate with the person who did this Fix has since then.

Knowing that I have a Satellite and a reasonable knowledge of computers, my friend asked me if I could have a look and try and do a setup that would work for her and I agreed thinking along the lines of using my Vista Satellite, CD boot recovery disc, install Vista and then upgrade to Windows 7 by using the product key that she on his machine so enter the bios that I put it to start starting from the CD, insert the CD, turn on and off the drive, but he tried to load XP before the dreaded blue screen of death again :( Looks like that there is not drivers for the CD drive :(

So I copy the files to an external hard drive that is empty I put the boot menu to boot from the USB key, plug the HD and turn on and instead of boot from the external drive, it still attempts to load XP before the blue screen again.

I ve done the same with Hirems on the disk and once again the same thing, what it will do is try to load a version of XP from somewhere and then crush the dreaded :(blue screen

Any ideas what can be the problem and how can I force it to load from my external hard drive so that I can do a format and reinstall?

    Hey,.

A little confused your assignment, you used another disk of your Toshiba laptop recovery, right? Well, if it s not the same mode, it will not work because each laptop model has its own installation of recovery with different drivers and tools. There is therefore no recovery disk that works for each laptop model.

Best way to restore a clean Windows installation is for this model of laptop recovery disk. If you n t have it can be ordered directly from Toshiba:
