Internet security, which is best when running defender and firewall?

I have windows 7, windows defender and windows running Firewall, do I have any other title? Microsoft security databases will be sufficient or should I Internet security, Norton or trend? Thank you.

You also need an antivirus, MS Security Essentials is a good and free option.

    Hey Donald Meyer

Malwarebytes anti-malware is a stand-alone program that runs on its own

    http://www.Malwarebytes.org/MBAM.php

Here is some information on combofix for you

    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/ComboFix/how-to-use-ComboFix

Do not run ComboFix unless you are specifically asked to by a helper. Also, because of the power of this tool, it isstrongly recommended that you do not follow up on any information displayed by ComboFix without the supervision of a person who has been properly trained. In this case, it can cause problems with the normal functionality of your computer.

  • Kaspersky protection ended today, Windows Defender and firewall won't turn on.

My laptop came with a free year of protection Kaspersky and it ended today.  When I went in my security settings to see what had happened it looks like all my protection is disabled.  When I try to turn it on nothing doesn't change.  Help, please!

    Hello

You must completely uninstall Kaspersky before that Windows Defender will accept to be turned on. It will allow you to turn it on as well as the protection of Kaspersky is over, it is always installed. If it were to turn on, it would conflict with Kaspersky and you would get from the crashes and conflicts left and right.

    Kaspersky - remove http://support.Kaspersky.com/common/service.aspx?El=1464

Windows Defender (how to activate after removal)

A.Navigate ofControl Panel (with icons). You can do this by typingStart > Search > Panel. Once in the Control Panel change the drop-down menu of thecategory to large or small icons.

B.Among list icons, and then click Action Center.

C.Assuming that the deletion of your previous anti-virus software has gone well, you will notice for unexpected and spyware software (important) protection and Virus protection (important), it will have a button that says turn on now. Click on this button (no matter that, as Windows Defender is as well used in Windows 8/8.1).

    Kind regards

  • Windows Defender and Norton Internet Security

Receipt of HP Pavilion for Christmas; provided with Windows 8.  I've updated to 8.1 Windows

  • Norton Internet Security 2010 automatically close Windows Defender? __

    My set up:

Windows Vista 32 bit Home Premium, Vista SP2

    HP Desktop

    Modem DSL Connection

    Norton Internet Security 2010

I just installed Norton Internet Security 2010. I get a pop up notice of Windows indicating that Windows Defender is disabled. When I had Norton Antivirus/spyware 2008 (that I used until the installation of Norton Internet Security 2010) Windows defender was on, but not in real time.  Then, when I'd go to

The Task Manager > click on the Services tab > click on the Services button in the lower right

This will display a list of Services. I scroll down and find the Windows Defender Service

It shows NOT on and manual start

Before the instalation of Norton Internet Security 2010, it has shown as Started and startup type automatic

Is this the right setting with Norton Internet Security installed? I do not use Windows Defender, but I read that the Windows Defender Service is responsible for other things in addition to anti-spyware scanning.

So should I change the startup type?

    and start the service?

Or, as I said if I don't use it. leave it alone?

    Q. "Norton Internet Security 2010 automatically closes Windows Defender?"

    A. Yes.  It uses its own antispyware software.  Having two different types will result in conflicts and compatibility issues.

  • Confusion about this internet security software is necessary

I'm getting cofused on how internet security, antivirus software, I should have on my computers.

I have a desktop computer XPS 420 new with 4 GB memory and 750 GB hard drive and a laptop Inspiron 6000 with 1 GB of memory and 60 GB hard drive.  They are currently networked via a Netgear WNDR3300 wireless router.  My HP C6280 printer is connected to the network.  The new '' runs under Windows VISTA SP1 and the laptop, Windows XP PRO SP2.

I'm trying to get my software installed on the new office.  For years I used the Norton Antivirus software, and then more recently the Norton Internet Security software.  But when I got the installation of the network, it Norton is in contradiction with the old rounter Netgear WGT624V3-, on the recommendation of the technician fixing the system, so I started using Trend Micro Internet Security.  That worked fine until I upgraded to Trend Micro Internet Security PRO 2008, and it took so much of my computer's resources (especially my old Dell Dimension 8250) runs.  Also, with the old Netgear router, I had to disable the internet as security options was a conflict.  So I experimented on the laptop with a free version of AVAST and Ad-Aware SE Plus.  These two worked together pretty well, and I had all decided to replace the Trend Micro software on the old desktop until I finally decided to buy the new computer.

Now, I'm in a quandry again.  With the Netgear WNDR3300 router, I have their security WPA - PSK, put in place.  My VISTA Dell supplied with Windows Defender.  Tonight, I tried to install Trend Micro Internet Security PRO 2008 but was told by VISTA that Trend Micro is not compatible with my version of the operating system.   I asked the population of Netgear if I still needed to install software of internet security in addition to the protection in view of their security options AVAST antivirus software and told me I should.  Currently, I have only the AVAST Home edition on the new office.

What are some of your recommendations? I'd go back to Norton?  Is Windows Defender and AVAST with the Netgear security option enough? Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

  • Norton Internet Security launch

Just bought a HP ENVY 700-074 with Windows 8 and a trial of 60 days of Norton Internet Security (NIS).   NIS is running, but it cannot be launched to run queue Insight or scanning of the network.  HP offers NIS should be purchased, however, I have a hard time buying something that is not working properly.

Any ideas on how to solve the problem of not being able to launch Norton Internet Security on Windows 8?

    Thank you

    Windsurfing, welcome to the forum.

I suggest contacting the Service customer of Norton for help.  They want you to buy the program when the trial period is over, so they'll get it fixed.

Please click on "BRAVO", if I helped you and click on "Accept as Solution" If your problem is resolved.

  • Bundled Norton Internet Security

    Hey guys

How to reinstall Norton Internet Security which was packaged with a Toshiba laptop. No CD have been provided and I can't find the product numbers...

    Hello

Norton Internet Security is a part of the installation image and it is not distributed on separate CD. With separate CD, it will be possible to install it on every computer or laptop again. There is also no number for this product.

This software is just limited edition, and you can use it for a short period. It's some kind of warranty given by Toshiba for users and if you purchase the unit you will be protect from the first moments of the laptop use. He later is your decision what software you want to use. If you want to use Norton for a long time, you must save it and buy a license.

  • Re: Satellite A100 - Webroot Internet Security seems to be internet invalid

I hope you can help... We run with Webroot Internet Security and after the last scan, my boyfriend said that it was no longer able to connect to the internet. We run ADSL.
I'm only running a Toshiba Satellite connected to internet via a linksys cisco ethranet (?). It doesn't make sense to me that I can connect to the internet via a wireless connection with his being the main connection and it cannot connect.

    Please can someone help?

    Hey

I never heard of Webroot Internet Security. Is it a reliable tool and what can you say about it?
As wrote Al - eX make sure that it s not blocking don't not your Internet connection. Also, try to disable the firewall and check again.

By the way: A router to connect to the Internet?

Maybe it s also a Malware or something. Therefore, I recommend Malwarebytes Anti-Malware.

  • How do I uninstall expired f-secure internet security?

    Hello

My F - secure Internet Security 2011 have just expired a few days ago.

So I recently bought the same F - secure Internet Security 2011 with the same provider. And it comes with a different product key.

And I procceed to download and install internet security program. Thinking that the new will replace the old.

Until the new program can complete the installation. It displays an error message that I produced security conficlting. The message also invite me to manually uninstall security product. I have no other security product.

And old outdated F-secure internet security is still in the program file.

I try to uninstall it, but I can't find to uninstall/change in Control Panel. I try to remove it without success.

I ask for the support of the seller for help but does not.

Everything they say is to seek security conficting product.

They asked me: 'if I have Microsoft Security Essential? No, I'm not. »

What I have to reformat the drive to clean it?

A new security product will help to remove it?

    Please can someone help me?

    Thank you.

Made a lot of sense to go to f-secure support.  Perhaps the seller that is referenced is a software vendor...  English is a funny language.  The f-secure Web site is difficult to navigate, and it's probably because I'm not very familiar with it.  Try here for their support:

    http://www.f-secure.com/en/Web/home_global/support/contact

While their community peer-2-peer support can be found here:

    http://community.f-secure.com/T5/welcome/CT-p/en?skin=global

I'm sorry that the installer UN has not worked for you.  It was suggested by a list online and instrument Specifies uninstallation of security programs that I recommend regularly, but things change over time.  Unfortunately, websites don't always keep current.

  • I just installed NORTON INTERNET SECURITY 2011, and when I try to activate windows DEFENDER, something backtracked. Should I panick?

I have a pc compaq presario with vista premium, service Pack2 (SP2). I installed also any internet security 2011.The 'defender' of norton program turned on-with no problem, when I had installed service pack, but now, every time I try to turn on 'defender', a program, or perhaps, norton security-tours he back off. All solutions?

    Brian Griffin_771

Nortons disabled. Because it has a virus scanner. You cannot or should not be running 2 AV programs or firewall. They will come into conflict. Its normal. And nothing to panic on

  • It takes to run Windows Defender if I have Norton Internet Security?

If I have Norton Internet Security installed. Should I have Windows Defender running?

    Hi paowie,

    Absolutely not.  See http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_vista-security/norton-internet-security-and-windows-defender/761d5aff-382e-46d9-b9f5-f65178b83d91.

Please disable Windows Defender in Control Panel / Administrative Tools / Services.  Double-click Windows Defender and stop it if it is started.  Then in the drop-down menu, make sure to put it off.  Click OK to save the changes.

    Good luck!
