invalid security certificate

When I connect to a site with a self-signed certificate, sometimes I get: "{site} uses an invalid security certificate." I can add an exception for self-signed certificates, but what does it mean when the security certificate is not valid.

Some sites are just security certificates that have expired. So if you connect to this website, it will tell you that its a "security certificate not valid." It simply means that the owner of the site must renew its certificate.

  • Firefox wrongly think that my site is using an invalid security certificate... clues?

I recently installed a security certificate on my site.
I tried different controllers of ssl and certificate seems fine.
Firefox, however, don't like him and displays a warning page that says:

www.Academi.pl uses an invalid security certificate.

The certificate is not trusted because the issuer certificate is not approved.

    (Error code: sec_error_untrusted_issuer)

This happens on Windows, Mac and Linux computers in my office.
I also received a number of reports from users of the site who are experiencing the same problem.
It seems that the problem does not occur in firefox 7.x, but I have to check properly.

Anyone know a solution to this? I tried to remove the certificates manually in preferences, but it did not help.

It worked for me! I had given up everything, but when I received this reply in my inbox this morning. I was skeptical at all first, think something so simple could not possibly solve all my problems... He did! Sometimes simple is best. Thank you all for the answers and help for this problem!

  • Unable to set IMAP account due to invalid security certificate - error 4010

Hello I just got a new TouchPad and have updated the OS to the latest version. I try to set up multiple e-mail accounts and am having a problem with an IMAP account. I already put in place two POP accounts without any problems. But when I tried to set up a connection to the account of my work (IMAP) I wasn't able to do. He told me that the security certificate is not valid with the 4010 error.

I did some research on the Board of Directors and have tried the following:

    (1) used the web browser to sign on my webmail from work, he complained the untrusted certificate and I said to add the exception and TouchPad Certificate Manager confirmed the certificate (webmail.myworkplace.com). This did not help the e-mail client.

    (2) someone suggests to send the certificate by e-mail attachment and open it. So, I exported the certificate through firefox (as X.509 - PEM certificate) to the POP account that I had put in place. The mail reader didn't know what to do with this attachment and will not open it. I renamed the file in .txt and the mail reader just showed me the text content. So no luck there.

I have an iPod touch and I had no problem whether to set up my account to work with the native mail on this device reader and I do not know why the TouchPad also gives me a hard time.

I'd appreciate any help in this. Thank you.

Just a friendly reminder that I'm still unable to setup email on my TouchPad due to error message...

    Hi Zippy1970,

Sorry, that took me so long. I ended up having to install openssl in order to display the certificate, but once I did, the issue jumped immediately.

There are 2 problems with your certificate

    1. It is self-signed (this isn't a problem, there's just one additional configuration step involved)
    2. He was assigned to the wrong domain. Right now, the certificate is awarded to "localhost". This is not the area in which your TouchPad uses to connect to the server that is why he makes the mistake of certificate

To make this work, you need to create a self-signed certificate that uses the correct domain name (the CN value must be the same domain name that you have sent me in private message).

Also, you need to add this certificate to your TouchPad (because it is self-signed). The last part is pretty easy, just copy the certificate file on the touch pad using USB drive mode, and then open the Certificate Manager and the new certificate. To access the Certificate Manager:

    • Info on the open unit
    • In the main Menu on the left, select Certificate Manager
    • Press the Add button
    • Select your certificate

Once this is done, everything should work for you.

  • accept invalid server security certificates in Android 4 +.

    Hello

I have an AIR application that calls a script https on a server. We have a security certificate valid server on our live server, but not on our development servers.

Everything works fine on the server, with Android and iOS.

On development, with Android 2.2/2.3 servers, an alert appears on my phone asking me to accept the invalid security certificate before I can continue. It is very good.

I don't get the pop-up with 4 Android devices. Just to do not and gives me an actionscript 2032 Stream error every time. However, the same apk on a device Android 2.2/2.3 oldest still works.

AIR iOS apps were never allowed to call scripts from server without a valid security certificate. I raised this issue in the forum of pre-release flash and said it was a known problem. Can someone confirm if this is the case with the 4 Android devices now too?

    Thank you

    Nick

    Seems fixed in AIR3.7.

This seems to be related to the 'Gamers unit' toolbar, using xml.freecause.com. Apparently freecause.com has left their security certificate expired, and those of us using the Snag bar receive this error because of the snag bar Gamers unite and not FireFox itself.

Hello, one possible solution depends on different factors:

    • What is the error code indicated under Technical Details on the error page?

in case the error code is equal to sec_error_unknown_issuer, please try to add an exception on the bottom of the error page (don't add it for real however) and inspect the certificate as shown in the screenshot

  • Invalid SSL certificate

My company uses Citrix Receiver to allow us to connect to the House to work.

I installed the latest version of the plug of the receiver in and all have El Capitan, I don't go through safari but rather connect by Miss this step and launch citrix directly, pop in my user name, password and rsa token details.

At this point, I see a message invalid SSL certificate.

Any ideas how I can check whats wrong, are the certificates stored in the keychain?

    Howdy John!

Looks like you have a SSL certificate, which plays well with El Capitan. I would use the troubleshooting for this in the following article to help you here:

OS X El Capitan: If your certificate isn't being accepted

If a certificate is not accepted, it may have expired or it may be invalid for the way in which it is used. For example, some certificates may be used to establish a secure connection to a server, but not for the signing of a document.

The most common reason that a certificate is not accepted, is that the root CA certificate is not approved by your computer. To have your computer trust a certification authority, you must add the certificate authority to a keychain and set the certificate of trust setting.

    1. If an application (e.g. Safari) displays the root certificate of the CA as part of the CA message, drag the icon of the certificate root on the desktop.

    2. Drag the certificate on the Keychain Access file, or double-click the certificate file.

    3. Click menu Keychain, choose a set of keys, and then click OK.

If you are prompted, enter the name and password for an administrator on this computer user.

    4. Select the certificate, and then choose file > read the information.

    5. Click the trust triangle to display the certificate trust policies .

    6. To override the trust policies, choose trust settings that you want to replace in the pop-up menus.

For more information, see certificate trust policies.

  • Security certificates

It seems that all my security certificates have been lost. In addition, my passwords were lost.

Associated with, is that I can not connect to email in Thunderbird.

Hi kunkel, what kind of device has this problem? It's a desktop computer running Windows, Mac, etc. ?

You remember using the reset function, or you see a folder on your desktop named old data from Firefox?

I don't know what you mean about your certificates have been lost. Considered is Firefox problems on many secure sites? It would be helpful if you could expand the 'Technical Details' section of a few pages of problem and paste that here to see what is happening.

  • Firefox pr5esents false (false) sites when searching for my Bank and scurity said these sites (which seem to be authentic) have no security certificate

When I search my bank using www.lloydsbank.com a page that looks authentic, but when you try to access account details access is denied because the site is not the necessary security certificate. Then he said: the site, that I asked has been online.lloydsbank.com which is obviously false. I managed to access the correct site continuously through a different browser.

Check the date and time of the clock on your computer: (double) click on the clock icon in the Windows taskbar.

Try renaming the file cert8.db in the Firefox profile folder in cert8.db.old or remove the cert8.db file to remove the intermediate certificates that Firefox has stored.

If it helped to solve the problem, then you can delete the renamed file cert8.db.old.

Otherwise you can rename (or copy) the file cert8.db.old to cert8.db to restore previous intermediary certificates.

Firefox automatically records the intermediate certificates when you visit Web sites that send such a certificate.

If that didn't help then remove or rename secmod.db (secmod.db.old) as well.
