  Yes it will work fine, drivers 'may' be a problem though, it may take a while for drivers to be written for W8, some W7 drivers may work, not sure.

  I don't know if MS will release an advisor to upgrade of stand-alone for W8, I guess they will be at some point when W8 is on sale to the public in October.

  Theoretically you can install Windows 7 on this laptop why not?

  The means of error message has something to do with the card reader. Maybe you need to update the driver because the current version isn't compatible with Windows 7. I think that it s worth a try!
