  model A1660 (CDMA) iPhone 7

  model A1661 (CDMA) iPhone 7 more

  and 2 different models of GSM:

  Model A1778 iPhone 7

  Model A1784 iPhone 7 more

  My guess is that the models of Verizon (CDMA) do not work on the T-Mobile GSM network. Data connection does not work at least LTE. Not sure about the voice. T-Mobile and AT & T models may support data LTE in both networks.

  Do not buy from Carphone Warehouse as the lock of phones to the first carrier, they are enabled on

  Apple buying at full price always gets you an unlocked phone

  The list on Apple's site lists the suppliers that provide the functionality associated with the phone as iMessage etc. - we have incidents of some posters here being charged for calls for activation as their provider was not an official Apple partner or that they might not use LTE etc.

  The Genius bar will not help with SIM locked (locked carrier) phones - you will have to work with the carrier on that one.

  What areas of Wyoming, Montana or South Dakota, are you? They are areas in large cities or in the country? If your service is running in the only area of California, but not the other, more than likely it is a coverage problem. Even if roaming data, if there is cellular coverage is sparse in other States, it does not connect.

  Where is the 'here' as you read this? Yes, you can walk into an Apple Store and pay full price for an unlocked iPhone. It's only when iPhones came out as they are generally not available in Apple stores we.
