IPSEC VPN on the Ethernet Interface

Hello

I have a doubt on a new fundamental concept.

If IPSEC VPN works on Ethernet Interface of router Cisco? It's IPSEC VPN can be terminated on FastEthernet Interface of the router?

So far, I worked with Serial Interface only.

R.B.KUMAR

Yes it can - see the sample config below: -.

    Hello guys,.

I have Cisco ASA5520 facing the ISP with private IP address. We don't have a router and how to get the IPSec VPN through the internet?

The question statement not the interface pointing to ISP isn't IP address private and inside as well.

    Firewall configuration:

    Firewall outside interface Gi0 10.0.1.2 > ISP 10.0.1.1 with security-level 0

    Firewall inside the interface Ethernet0 192.168.1.1 > LAN switch 192.168.1.2 with security-level 100

I have public IP block 199.9.9.1/28

How can I use the public IP address to create the IPSec VPN tunnel between two sites across the internet?

can I assign a public IP address on the Gig1 inside the interface with the security level of 100 and how to apply inside to carry on this interface?

If I configure > firewall inside of the item in gi1 interface ip address 199.9.9.1/28 with security-level 100. How to make a safe lane VPN through this interface on the internet?

I'm used to the public IP address allocation to the interface outside of the firewall and private inside the interface IP address.

Please help with configuration examples and advise.

    Thank you

    Eric

Unfortunately, you can only complete the VPN connection on the interface the VPN connection source, in your case the external interface.

    3 options:

    (1) connect a router in front of the ASA and assign your public ip address to the ASA outside interface.

    OR /.

    (2) If your ISP can perform static translation of 1 to 1, then you can always finish the VPN on the external interface and ask your provider what is the static ip address assigned to your ASA out of the IP (10.0.1.2) - this will launch the VPN of bidirectionally

    OR /.

    (3) If your ISP performs PAT (dynamic NAT), then you can only start the tunnel VPN on the side of the ASA and the other end of the tunnel must be configured to allow VPN LAN-to-LAN dynamics.

  • IPSec VPN in the context of security... Static interface or not?

    Hello

For the moment, I have a pair of ASA5510 in context configured Multiple. Everything is ok, but we use til now only the ACL functions.

Now, I would be interested in configuration 2 contexts, with IPSec VPN. A VPN by context. But I can't find any information if it would be possible to use a common interface for both contexts. My wish would be only to spare public IPs...

If I have to configure VPN 100 100 contexts, I need 100 public IPs?

Thanks to anyone who can give me a tip,

    Kind regards

    Olivier

    Hello

If you have separate IP addresses on the same subnet, you can reach these interfaces to different contexts

You only configure a sub with a interface ID Vlan that is connected to the gateway of the ISP. You can join this subinterface settings as much as you want but the IP address on the interface must naturally be different in each context. To my knowledge ASA really prevent you from setting up the IP address if she sees him in a different context in the same subinterface.

  • Easy VPN with the Tunnel Interface virtual IPSec dynamic

    Hi all

I configured easy vpn remote on a cisco 1841 and dynamic server easy vpn with virtual tunnel interface on the server (cisco 7200, 12.4.15T14)

    http://www.Cisco.com/en/us/partner/prod/collateral/iosswrel/ps6537/ps6586/ps6635/prod_white_paper0900aecd803645b5.html

It works with easy vpn remote to the client mode and mode network-extesión, but it doesn't seem to work when I configure mode plus network on the client of the cpe, or when I try to have TWO inside the ez crypto interfaces. On the customer's site, I see two associations of security, but on the server PE site only security SA!

Without virtual dynamic tunnel interface, dynamic map configuration is ok... This is a limitation of the virtual tunnnel dynamic interface?

    Federica

If one side is DVTI and the other uses a dynamic map, it does support only 1 SA. If the two end uses DVTI or the two end uses dynamic card then it supports several SAs.

Here is the note of documentation for your reference:

Note: Multiple inside interfaces are supported only when the Cisco Easy VPN server and the Cisco Easy VPN client have the same type of Easy VPN configuration. In other words, both must use a Legacy Easy VPN configuration, or both must use a DVTI configuration.

    Here's the URL:

  • Cisco ASA 5510 L2L VPN on the backup interface

OK, here is what I have and I even if I knew how to do this, but it has not worked for me.  I hope someone out there can help you.

I have an ASA 5510 running 8.4 with double configuration of ISPs on 2 different interfaces: outside (primary), backup (backup).  I also have a site to site VPN ASA another in another city.  The VPN is now configured on the external interface and works very well.  What I wanted to do, is to make the VPN running on backup interface only.

So, I changed the card encryption on the remote side to use the backup interface IP and created a tunnel-group for her.  Then, I created a map encryption for backup interface and activated ikev1 on it.  The default route is configured to use the external interface, so I created a static route that routes traffic destined for the external interface of the remote side to the backup interface default gateway.  I can get to establish tunnels, but no traffic passes through them.  I have however while I need a NAT device for the tunnel traffic to I created a NAT so but still no transmitted traffic.  I tried the packet - trace and he said: the traffic was allowed and show its crypto ipsec command, I see the configuration of the tunnel, but no traffic will pass through it.  Can anyone help?

    Ben,

you use a code to version 8.4, I recommend starting by removing the config NAT statements at both ends. This version does not have the NAT and control, and if you don't need... I've seen instances with 8.4 (3) where a NAT even though apparently correct was causing not to pass through the traffic.

    Site A:

NAT (inside, backup) source static obj-SiteALAN obj-SiteALAN static obj-SiteBLAN obj-SiteBLAN

    Site b:

    NAT (inside, outside) source static obj - 192.168.5.0 obj - 192.168.5.0 destination static obj - 192.168.3.0 obj - 192.168.3.0

If possible, you should increase your AES encryption, but this is a personal point of view and should not stop the traffic through the links. You should be able to see the counters for the data transmitted / received are these incrementing?

Do you have the ACLs that are from the inside to the outside and internal interface to the Interface of backup (duplicated.

In this model, the control is the routing.

    Best regards

  • Static and VPN on the external interface

    Hello

Can someone tell me if it is possible (and if so, how) do vpn enabled on the external interface and to have something like:

public static x.x.x.x interface (indoor, outdoor)

IE: I have two addresses ip - one for the router an e0 on the pix. I create a static and lists of access to allow inbound http/https server inside but I also want to allow vpn hit e0 and work. My configs work if I use an ip address 3 for the static, but not if they share. I can imagine that the static method takes the vpn traffic before the pix can use it OR maybe as the pix has no route to the now (due to the static method) that it cannot answer?

    Hope I'm making sense

Thanks for the time spent on this

    see you soon

    Andy

I think you want something like this:

public static tcp (indoor, outdoor) interface http 10.10.10.10 http netmask 255.255.255.255 0 0 (where 10.10.10.10 is your web server)

public static tcp (indoor, outdoor) interface https 10.10.10.10 https netmask 255.255.255.255 0 0

access-list 101 permit tcp any host x.x.x.x eq 80 (where x.x.x.x is your IP interface)

    access-list 101 permit tcp any host x.x.x.x eq 443

    Access-group 101 in external interface

    It will be useful.

    Thank you

    Jesse,

One of the solutions to your problem is to apply the same for both interfaces crypto card and have the two counterparts mentioned under a crypto map entry.

Since you're using track/IP SLA to activate a single link to a single IP address of time will be answers.

    http://www.Cisco.com/en/us/docs/security/ASA/asa84/command/reference/C5.html#wp2278871

Have several inputs card crypto with the same statement in game will cause problems.

    Hope that makes sense.

  • several L2L ipsec VPN to the same destination (ip address)

    Hi all

im lookin to establish an a L2L ips multiple tunnels (a tunnel for each subnet) of my cisco asa 5510 to the same destination.

should the cisco asa capable of this?

    How can I do?

    concerning

You can do this if you want to say-

Lets say site A - got 3 subnet and Site B has had a.

In this case, you need to do is to add ACL to crypto.

    Hello

Maybe it's a simple qeustion, and I also know it can be done on a SAA.

  • Ping LAN internal via the IPSec VPN Client

    It's my scenario.

    Software Version 7.2 (1)

I activated the VPN in the external Interface. The IPSec Client pool is in the range 192.168.98.150 - 192.168.98.175.

    • Allowed "a whole icmp" out Interface access both within the Interface.
    • ICMP & ICMP error inspection is enabled.
    • NAT-control is disabled.

Clients are unable to ping any IP within the LAN 'inside' but at the same time, they are able to access the devices in the LAN using HTTP, HTTPS, SSH & TELNET.

    CASE 1:

access-list SHEEP extended permits all ip 192.168.98.0 255.255.255.0

    NAT (Inside) 0 access-list SHEEP

I get the following log "translation portmap creation failed for CBC icmp outdoors"

    CASE 2:

    If I add a static 192.168.98.0 public (exterior, Interior) 192.168.98.0 netmask 255.255.255.0

I am able to Ping and the problem is solved.

Could someone explain please this behavior?

    1. Why ICMP only needs a NAT device when TCP & UDP traffic works very well.
    2. Why a portmap translation error? Why not dynamic identity NAT?

    Hello

So he was correspondent to a configuration 'nat' on the 'outside' interface that had no configuration corresponding 'global' for the destination (probably inside) interface which caused problems and produces the 'portmap' error.

  • Two IPSec VPN on an interface does not

    Hello

I'm actually trying to bring two IPSec VPN on a single interface. I managed to create a tunnel between hand and Barcelona and between by and Mad. But I can't create it between Barcelona and Mad.

We have a cisco ISR1921 Mad Barcelona and a nominal Netgear.

    Config of Barcelona:

    Now the weird part:

I have absolutely NO LOG AT ALL. I don't have them when the tunnel with normal is negotiated, but I have absolutely nothing to Mad-Barcelona. Not even an error message or anything like that.

Negotiations between Barcelona and the Mad is nowhere.

Someone has an idea, what happens?

I'm thinking that he might not start the tunnel and does not all newspapers:

-you see all success in the used card encryption access list?

-is it possible that there is a problem of connectivity between sites?

-There is a NAT (or PAT) which may affect the set of addresses?

-is it possible that routing to one of the sites is not going through the interface that has the encryption card?

Maybe if you post production show card crypto that there could be a few clues about the problem?

  • VPN Tunnel problem. external interface has private IP

    Hi all

I don't know if it is wired or not!

When our ISP provide us an Internet connection our real IP is configured on the ethernet interface, while the serial interfaces have a private IP address.

The problem here is when I'm trying to configure a VPN tunnel to another router.

Anything in the configuration is smooth, except for the part where I put the serial interface is my outside.

The tunnel is still low coz the IP address will be my private (serial interface) during the configuration on the router counterpart is my public IP address.

So I am woundering is there a way I can force the VPN tunnel to take the IP address configured on the side LAN? Or any other work around?

  • Mac Mini - no Ethernet Interface

    Hello

I have the Mac Mini 2011 model, and I've been using an Ethernet for some time, have not had any problems, connection worked perfectly until now. First of all, there is no internet connection, so I have just connected to wifi for a bit, then I went into System Preferences - network, where more ethernet it indicated "cable disconnected" even if the cable is connected. I checked that the cable is not the issue, work on other devices. So I have that if I just remove the ethernet interface with - button, and then add it again with the + button that would solve the problem. However, now ethernet interface does not even upward in option:

I'm currently under OS X El Capitan 10.11.3.

Please help resolve this annoying problem, because the ethernet port is the key for the speeds for me.

    Thanks in advance!

    • See:

If the Ethernet on your Mac has stopped working recently - Apple supports

Installation often this works instead of handling files.

Download update of OS X El Capitan 10.11.3 Combo

  • Ethernet interface disappeared

As I rebooted my laptop this morning, I didn't more wired Ethernet network. I have not installed updates yesterday, but yesterday it worked correctly. It is not a problem with the router or the cable, because it works correctly with the other laptop. The router detects when I connect the cable (the port lights) but the router has no ARP entry for the connection (only for wifi that I need to write this question). In addition, it still works the WiFi.

Restarting the laptop does not help. I opened 'Network Preferences' and I removed the Ethernet network in order to recreate, but surprisingly, the 'Ethernet' interface does not appear in the list more (it is available WiFi, Firewire, Thunderbolt 1, Thunderbolt and Bluetooth PAN bridge). With the Network Diagnostics didn't help either. I also tried to test the equipment with the Apple Diagnostics (by pressing D when starting the laptop), but I did not need to start the diagnostics.

It seems that the ethernet driver has been uninstalled or misconfigured.

I have a Mac Book Pro (2011) with OSX El Capitan.

Any advice on what to do?

    Thanks in advance
