Mac Mini - no Ethernet Interface
Hello
I have the Mac Mini 2011 model, and I've been using an Ethernet for some time, have not had any problems, connection worked perfectly until now. First of all, there is no internet connection, so I have just connected to wifi for a bit, then I went into System Preferences - network, where more ethernet it indicated "cable disconnected" even if the cable is connected. I checked that the cable is not the issue, work on other devices. So I have that if I just remove the ethernet interface with - button, and then add it again with the + button that would solve the problem. However, now ethernet interface does not even upward in option:
I'm currently under OS X El Capitan 10.11.3.
Please help resolve this annoying problem, because the ethernet port is the key for the speeds for me.
Thanks in advance!

Ethernet vanished - Mac Mini card
Hello.
This morning when I turned on my Mac Mini (running 10.11.2 at this time), I had no network connectivity. After the passage of cables, test the router with other devices, I determined that the problem was definitely with the Mac. The preferences panel network informed me that the computer was not installed PCI Ethernet card. I installed the update for 10.11.3, and which naturally does not solve my problem. After talking to a friend, he suggested I have test the Starter card of the machine with a boot external drive. I don't have one, so I wrapped it and went to his house with it. The test proved the card works: when its external drive (10.11.1) starting the card ethernet works fine. So I brought it home and tried to DL a clean version of the operating system, but for some reason any App Store will not be re - download. I found some instructions to remove the file from the network interface.plist and start again - didn't solve it, and now it gives me the option to configure a new ethernet connection, I guess because he thinks, he has no one. And if the wifi gives me connectivity, this is not satisfactory.
Any suggestions?
Thank you.

Mini mac 2012 drop ethernet connection
2012 mac Mini i7, 16 GB RAM, 1 TB SSD. OS X 10.10.5.
I have owned this since it was released in 2012 and have had no problems with it until a few weeks ago. There was no putting recent update of the OS or other additions s/w or the material that I could attribute to this issue.
I noticed a few times a day, a notification is displayed that my wired ethernet is down, then back to the top. Originally it happened so sporadically, I simply ignored him. But yesterday it happened about 50 times in a row, up toward the bottom up toward the bottom up toward the bottom. Usually, when he finally reconnect, the interface would be to 100baseT rather than 1000baseT. Syspref is set on automatically configure.
My home network has not changed during this period. My cable modem (Motorola SB6141) feeds a router Cisco (Linksys), which feeds an Apple Airport Extreme (latest generation) and another router (I have run two separate subnets, one for business, one for home). EI feeds a switch 8 ports that my Mac Mini is attached. I have reset the cable modem, Linksys, EI, and tried different ports on the switch... Note that no other machines on the network are strange network anomalies.
I made a sure start yesterday and which seem to help for a while, but I noticed earlier the lights of the switch to the port of MacMini are orange instead of green, indicating 100baseT and of course, it is checked by the syspref config.

I did not see 'change the cable. Have you tried? The cable between your router and your switch?
Cable of your mini directly your main router, or modem without going through the rest of your network?
Do you have any activated energy saving settings?
You have a lot of variables and breaking points in your system. Difficult to isolate what's going on.

Do I need a PCI Ethernet card on my Mac mini to connect to the Ethernet connection?
I tried to set up my mac mini on my ethernet newly updated. Nothing seems to work. When I scanned the information system and click on the Ethernet cards, I received the message: this computer does not have any Ethernet PCI cards installed.
I checked and I had the latest version 3.28.2 noted Incompatible Kernel Extension Configuration Data, which has been a problem for other people.
Is there another way to do this work?
I'm in IOS 10.11.1 on a Mac mini (mid-2010)
Ethernet is built in and can not be an addition except as to adopt USB Ethernet.

My Mac Mini (latest model 2014) suddenly stopped to connect to my network home yesterday. I can still connect wirelessly, but not via the ethernet cable.
I tried to connect the Mac Mini to different ethernet ports, without passing through routers and switches and using different cables. But it doesn't go anywhere.
Other computers (Windows) to connect very well to all ethernet ports.
Can someone tell me how I can determine if this is a hardware problem or a software problem?
In Network preferences, he says just "Cable Disconnected".
Thank you

Ethernet port on the question of mac mini 2014?
Hello I recently returned from a trip, I was away for about an hour and when I got home I turned on my mac mini and BAM without ethernet connection, Ive went through the router and the settings constantly, other computers in the House connect to ethernet, I can connect to wifi with the Mini. When I plug it in ethernet, there is no anything, except for the light on the router on that its plugged in < < < < < < Ive checked the port for obstructions. everything seems peachy from outside, no indication in this regard, Ive reset the router, reset it to factory default, done everything I could think of, checked the DNS settings, I can choose any connection until the router without wifi however. Pls help.. I don't like horrible wifi download features, and I pay a good price for a 100 mb a second connection, which I can only achieve by WAN/LAN
I have experienced the same problem, undertook diagnostic and eyhernet work in the trunk as im using log out and in my bam account does not work but my wifi only

last possible system on Mac Mini 1.93 GHz Intel Core 2 GB memory?
My system works very well except for Safari and Firefox, which NOW have updated versions. What is the solution? I use Snow Leopard and latest Firefox since it's 48.0.2 and Safari's 5.1.10 that I can no longer use to access certain web pages
The official list of Mac compatible with macOS Sierra:
What are the requirements for Sierra.

- Mac Pro
If you do not meet the above, but respect what follows, then you can upgrade to El Capitan.
Upgrade to El Capitan
You can pass the Lion El Capitan or directly from Snow Leopard. El Capitan can be downloaded for FREE from the Mac App Store.
To upgrade to El Capitan, you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or installed Lion. Download El Capitan from the App Store. Sign in with your Apple ID. El Capitan is free. The file is big enough, more than 5 GB, allow it some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
Mac that can be upgraded to OS X El Capitan
1 iMac (mid-2007 or newer) - model identifier 7.1 or later
2 MacBook (late 2008 or early 2009 or newer aluminium) - model identifier 5.1 or later
3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer)- model identifier 3.1 or later version
4 MacBook Air (late 2008 or newer)- model identifier 2.1 or later
5 mac mini (early 2009 or newer)- model identifier 3.1 or later version
6 mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer)- model identifier 3.1 or later version
7 Xserve (early 2009) - model identifier 3.1 or later version
To find the identifier of the model open system information in the Utilities folder. It is displayed in the Panel on the right.
Are my applications?
See table of application - RoaringApps compatibility
Upgrade to Lion
If your computer does not meet requirements to install the above, it can still meet the specifications to install Lion.
You can buy Lion to the Apple store. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus taxes. It's a download. You will receive an email with a redemption code that you then use on the Mac App Store for download Lion. Save a copy of this installer to your download folder because Setup deletes itself at the end of the installation.
Lion system requirements
1 mac with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
or Xeon processor
2. 2 GB of memory
3 OS X 10.6.6 or later (10.6.8) recommended
4. 7 GB of available space
5. certain features require an Apple ID; conditions apply.

Mail of the Mac Mini, iMac with the migration wizard
I have a mac mini (2014 - El Capitan) that I have used for some time now and I have many mailboxes (30 +) with many stored messages (100s maybe 1000s).
I recently picked up a 2011 27 iMac which is running OS X Sierra Final Release Candidate due to vision problems.
Both units are working well but I would like to transfer my boxes to the letters, messages, and the account settings from the Mac Mini to the iMac using Migration Assistant to take advantage of the larger screen.
Am I able to select only the data for e-mail (boxes letters, messages and settings) to transfer somewhere in the Migration Wizard interface or will it just to start the transfer of all?
I use iCloud for note, calendars and contacts, but prefer not to use for e-mail.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you
WN
The simplest option would be to use Time Machine to restore your data.
Other Options:
You can export the folders you want to transfer the mini using export of Mail under mailbox function in the Menu bar > export a mailbox... Drag to the folder on the desktop on the new iMac and import in Mail. File > import boxes mailbox...
You can also use a third-party application, Emailchemy to export your Mail on the mini and pull only the folders you want and import. If you have many files, it would be a faster option.
http://www.weirdkid.com/products/emailchemy/
Otherwise, you could drag on the whole Mail > V3 folder let Sierra update data. This assumes that you have already started using Mail to Sierra.
You don't have to use iCloud email to use Apple Mail. I strongly suggest that you use IMAP to service what ever you choose to use. Comcast, Yahoo, Gmail, AOL, Hotmail (other)

My Mac Mini can be hacked from the Wifi?
Hello!
I was a proud owner of Mac Mini, less than a week. First of all, I would like to give my gratitude to Apple for creating this wonderful little tool.
But as a long time Windows user, I ran into a problem I can't seem to find an answer to.
I discovered that my Mac had opened a Wifi connection. And as a person, which is used for cables Ethernet (that I use now, too), the Wifi is unknown and not very liked territory.
Was on WiFi, but marked "wifi is turned on, but is not connected to a network.
N00b I am, am a little worried about this new link, began to bite it and found a lot of names, I understand where my neighbors Wifi connections. With my luck, I managed to hurt someone, who do not have their protected Wifi password and found myself suddenly watching "wifi is connected to the android ap and a IP [...]".
I panicked as *, started trying to find a way to get rid of it and seemed finally to delete it after 3 minutes of the curse.
Then, I turned off the wifi and changed to 'inactive' as well.
My apologizes for the long text, but I'd love to hear the opinions of people who are not filled with panic as I am:
1) when "wifi is turned on, but is not connected to a network", it means it is secure and no one can hack my wifi Mac?
(2) when I entered accidentally someone another wifi unprotected for a few minutes, my Mac have been compromised?
And the most important:
(3) Changing wifi to be 'off' and then 'dormant', am I sure of any wifi hacking back? As there is zero connection wifi and no one outside could enforce on my Mac?
I understand how stupid my questions can and no doubt make sound, but I'm inherently paranoid person and only one in my family, which has a semblance of agreement when it comes to computers, so there is no one to ask.
I would be very grateful if someone could help me,
Sincerely
(1) Yes
(2) No, just don't send any important information on an unprotected WiFi (passwords, credit card numbers etc.)
(3) Yes

Mac Mini Late 2012 restarts randomly

It is essentially:

Every now and then it just restarts with the message: "your computer restarted because of a problem."

I have 8 connected external drives (USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 and FW 800)
There is no screen, the mouse or the connected KB I only access it via the remote control.
The most recent version of Mac OS X is installed. Thank you very much for your advice!
Do you have what specific memory installed?
If you have the original memory try reinstalling that and see if the problem persists.

The panic was apparently caused by the Realtek USB network device or its software. I suggest that you unplug the unit and then remove the software.
Any third party software that is not installed on the App Store or by drag-and - drop in the Applications folder and uninstall by drag - move to the trash, is a modification of the system.
Whenever you delete changes to the system, they must be eliminated completely, and the only way to do this is to use the uninstall tool, if any, provided by the developers, or follow their instructions. If the software has been removed incompletely, you may redownload or reinstall even to finish the job.
I never install modifications of the system myself, and except as stated in this comment, I do not know how to uninstall them. You'll have to do your own research to find this information.
Here are some general guidelines to help you get started. Suppose you want to remove the so-called "BrickMyMac" (a hypothetical example). First of all, menu using the product, check if there is one, for instructions. Not finding here, look at the Web site, let's say www.brickmymac.com. (Maybe it's not the name real site, if necessary, search the Web for the name of the product). If you don't find anything on the Web site or in your search, contact the developer. While you are waiting for a response, download BrickMyMac.dmg and open it. There may be a request here as "Uninstall BrickMyMac." If this is not the case, open "BrickMyMac.pkg" and look for an uninstall button. The uninstall program can also accessible by clicking on the button customize, when one exists.
Back up all data before making any changes.
Generally, you will need to restart the computer in order to perform an uninstall. Until you do this, there may be no effect, or the unpredictable effects.
If you can't remove the software in any other way, you will have to erase and install OS X. Never install any third party software, unless you're sure you know how to uninstall in the contrary case, it can create problems which are very difficult to solve.
Try to remove the complex system of changes by hunting for files by name, often will not work and can make the problem worse. The same goes for 'utilities' as the 'AppCleaner"designed to remove software.

Hello
I have a few late 2014 Mac Mini running 10.10.5 and other mini once a week or so would just restart itself couple of times during the morning and then would be perfect for a week or two. I checked the updates ran Etrecheck and deleted or fixed in red, rebuilt permissions, rebooted in safe mode and then restart, reset the SMC. Not sure what is the cause and how to decipher the crash logs. Someone from Apple can decipher it for me?
Much appreciated!

How can I connect my Mac Mini to my TV?
I would like to connect my older Mac Mini to one of the ports on My HDTV so that I can use the TV as a screen. Is this possible? If so, what type of wire do I need? If anyone knows what means all and can tell me what I need to plug it, please let me know that the TV has multiple ports HDMI input that I can use.
Thank you
I looked up the Mini online via its serial number to get some specs on this but do not know what they mean. Here are some details:

We have 6 iMac in an Ethernet network. We are looking to replace with a MacMini. I have some questions:
- Is there a new MacMini since end of 2014 or is it the last? Apple intends to continue offering the MacMini?
- A connectable MacMini to an older iMac for its display? Alternatively, a single view option would be necessary - another monitor?
- It does not resemble the willing MacMini to an Ethernet port? Is there a model that makes? Otherwise, what is a solution to integrate a Mini in an Ethernet network?
- MacMini is a good option to use as a server for enterprise applications we are using an accounting program Explorer, office and some Adobe products as a server.
I think that's all... Any suggestions, warnings, knowledge, experience in the answers is welcomed.
Thank you.

1 October 2014 is the current version. No reason to think they will stop him offering. But no way to know what Apple plans would be for her in the future.
2 depends on the iMac: use your iMac as a display with the target - Apple Support Display Mode
