  I have problem with my screen on Satellite A100-237. Some colors (many of them; but others appear correctly, without this problem) it seems that halftone, example:

  The fill on the left must be a solid color, but you can see a sort of texture (groups of darker pixels) - as if the screen tries to simulate the color, which he was not able to view (technique called dithering, used in gif, for example).   I think that your problem can be caused by the micro-switch that will detect when the laptop lid is closed. If this switch is in the open position so your screen will remain off even with the lid open. The idea here is that you can get the display by closing and opening the lid again.
