Satellite A100-796 screen suddenly flips & occasionally turns black.

9 months ago, I bought my laptop (Satellite A100-796).
Since a week ago, the screen flickers from time to time very fast (for like a second). What's worse, the screen came to turn completely black twice suddenly while he was studying. It seems that the computer was still active, but the screen went black still (on the power but in black only). The only solution was to press the power button for like 10 seconds to stop the computer laptop everything.

I have installed new software, so I don't really know if it of a hardware problem or not? Everyone recognizes these symptoms, or you can give me any advice? I always had a pick-up-and-return-guarantee, do I have to use this right now or is there a quicker and better solution?

I really hope that someone can guide me through this, given that the laptop is very precious to me.

Kind regards

Liem

We should read about some facts. The fact is that this issue must be linked to a hardware malfunction.
Kody said the FL inverter could be faulty, but I think that the internal display could also causes this issue

There is only one real way of this knowledge. The parts must be checked!

So contact the ASP in your country and ask for verification of the laptop.

Best regards

  • Satellite A100-999 - screen flickers and goes black

Hi, I have a problem with my Satellite A100-999.

The screen flickers and then goes black. The works still laptop as I can connect to external monitors, but the laptop monitor are almost entirely black. It's happened before, but a reboot seemed to solve, however, Noah, as soon as the sign of the intel appears at startup, the screen turns off. It is not completely black - you can see the contours of some things on the screen, but it is almost completely black.

    Thanks for your help.

    Hi xiuxiuejar_1,

HM, if you can still see a picture on the laptop external monitor should be ok and it must be a problem with built-in LCD screen.

Usually, if the display is it black malfunction in UPS s FL which controls the backlight of the screen, but if the screen flickers, it s the internal LCD display itself

I guess that your laptop is not under warranty more so I would try exchanging the FL inverter it's a lot cheaper. You can order this FL inverter of an ASP or eBay but is not so easy to replace, because you have to disassemble the laptop monitor.

  • Satellite A100-011 - screen shaking

A few days ago, I bought Samsung 23 "2343 monitor (VGA) and connected to my Satellite A100-011, but I quickly noticed screen shaking.
Shaking disappears and appears at random times, and only when I use recommended Screen Resolution 2048 x 1152.
Drivers and the operating system is not the problem, because the screen trembles when the bios, and external monitor is not broken (tried on Satellite A210 and ASUS EEE without problem).

I would be very grateful for any information.

    Hello!

Have you checked the user manual of your Satellite A100? I doubt that this is because there you can find the solution for this problem.

According to the manual of your mobile phone supports the following screen resolutions:
    800 x 600
    1024 x 768
    1280 x 1024
    1600 x 1200
    1920 x 1440
    2048 x 1536

It seems so that the screen resolution recommended to your monitor is not supported and that is the reason to shake the screen.

  • Satellite A100-237: Screen Dithered

    Hello
I have problem with my screen on Satellite A100-237. Some colors (many of them; but others appear correctly, without this problem) it seems that halftone, example:

    http://img59.imageshack.us/my.php?image=lcdmg2.jpg
(click again to the original size)

The fill on the left must be a solid color, but you can see a sort of texture (groups of darker pixels) - as if the screen tries to simulate the color, which he was not able to view (technique called dithering, used in gif, for example). When I change the bit to 16 bit depth (I use 32-bit), it's better for some colors (like the one pictured), but he still presists. It's very distracting, especially in videos or games - the image on the screen go, but this 'texture' stays in the same place, so it is easily spotted.

Can I do something with this? Is this a HW or SW fault, or is it considered to be "normal"?
Does anyone have the same problem?
    PLEASE NOTIFY. THX.

    Hello

This problem appears from the beginning and you have installed the operating system from the recovery CD?
If not the case, please use the Toshiba Recovery for the installation of the OS CD.
Also have you tried to update the graphics driver? Please check the version of the graphics driver on the Toshiba driver page. If the new driver is available, please install on your laptop.

  • Need some information on the Satellite A100-474 screen refresh rate

    Hello.
    Good time of day.

I try install asp linux on my laptop. To configure X Windows I have to configure horizontal and vertical refresh of the screen (Toshiba TruBrite WXGA TFT).
Any ideas how I can find these values?

    With respect and graditude, Raven.

    Hello

Unfortunately, I found that the information the Satellite A100-474, which belongs to the PSAA9E series has been delivered with the 15.4 screen "and max. 1280 x 800 WXGA resolution.
As far as I know it is developed by Samsung and it is a part number: LTN154X3-L06-H0A.

Did you look in the user manual? I think that the manual provides some useful information under Schedule A; Technical characteristics.
It should be for information about the video modes as the resolution of the CRT screen, color depth (bpp), and refresh rate (hz).

  • Satellite M70-340: screen went completely blue or black

    Hello world
I just bougth a portable Satellite M70-340 and twice tonight screen entered a single color (black once, once blue) and although I could still hear the windows work (I could hear the Windows alert sounds and alerts by MSN mail), the screen went completely blue or black. I assume that the error is caused by a problem of display driver, so I downloaded the latest driver present Intel on this site. I don't know if it will work.

My question is, did this happen to someone of you? How did you solve this problem? And even though I have an Intel Graphics Media Accelerator Driver for Mobile, I could install the ATI driver on this site? (I prefer ATI driver since it is out of date.)

Thank you all for your interest,
    Best regards.

I guess you have mobile Intel graphics card. In this case, you can only use the graphic driver intel from the Toshiba page or are also website of intel.

But you cannot use the ATI graphics driver! You laptop has ATI No. graphics card!

However, you suggested that it is a new laptop. I would recommend to contact Toshiba service partner in your country. The guarantee is valid and you should take it!

  • Screen Freecell on vista turns black and white

My freecell turns black and white screen and strange behavior. I use ms vista. It also shows only the #8181 game. It never happens on my XP machine. Thanks for the reply in advance.

    Hi Karen,.

    a. Since when are you facing this problem?

    b. did you change to your system recently?

    c. This only happens with free cell?

Method 1: I suggest you to uninstall and reinstall the game and check.

    1. close all programs.

    2. click on the Start button and then click Control Panel.

    3. under programs, click on uninstall a program.

    4. in the pane tasks, click on turn Windows features on or off.

    5. in the windows features list, click the plus sign next to games.

    6. under games clear the checkbox for freecell.

    7. you receive a warning message in a pop-up window. Click Yes.

    8. now restart the computer and then go to Windows features turn on or off features. Place a cell check free of charge. You receive a warning message in a pop-up window. Click Yes.

    9. restart your computer.

Method 2: If the method above is not enough, you can try to create the new user profile and see if the problem still occurs there.

To create a new profile, you must first create a new user account. When the account is created, a profile will also be created.

    1. open user accounts by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, click user accounts and family safety (or by clicking on user accounts, if you are connected to a network domain), and then clicking user accounts.

    2. click on manage another account.  If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

    3. click on create a new account.

    4. type the name you want to assign to the user account, click an account type, and then click on create an account.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/create-a-user-account

If the new user profile resolves the problem, you can screw the corrupted profile and re - install the applications and programs.

    I hope this helps.

  • Screen suddenly and unexpectedly becomes black, please help!

Hi, I have a Vista Home Premium system that works well for about 6 months. Last weekend, I was meet a problem where my screen goes suddenly and way unpredictable black tower (the monitor will light yellow green, indicating no signal display at all). The power led lights up, but the sound of the hard drive goes. This can happen while I type in a document in Word, or while I'm browsing the internet, or while I'm playing a game, or while the system is simply left idle when I answer a phone, in a Word, it can happen at any time.

When it happens, I have no way to put the system back, pushing slightly on the power button, no matter how long, does not help. The only way to recover is to physically disconnect the computer and then plug, go into safe mode and then restart in safe mode. This will usually bring me in a system can be used for a while, until that hit problem suddenly and unexpectedly again. In addition, in about 30%-50% of cases, the attempt to boot into safe mode to will result in a blank screen (no signal display) with exactly the same symptom, and I have to unplug/plug again. So far I have not met a case when boot safe mode fail one after the other, but I can't exclude it from happening in the future.

What should I do to fix this? It seems different from the problem of 'black screen of death' (1) it happens during normal use of the system and (2) there is absolutely nothing on the screen, not even a cursor.

    Thank you!

    Hello

Could be heat related - try using a small fan to blow into the air intakes to see if that helps.

To be able to remove ALL and reinstall all the cables (both ends), card and memory - in fact remove and
replace - do not just tight.

This sounds like material so if the above does not help you then probably need the help of a
real computer store (not of leeks and glances at a Best Buy or other department stores) or the system
    Support from the manufacturer.

  • Satellite A100-812: screen brightness does not not & screen turns off after a while

Some power management features do not work after a bios update (5.90).
The display brightness can be changed in the power manager, or the top menu system. In the power manager, the cursor can be moved, but the brightness is not set. Toshiba menu system appears to hang on trying to change the brightness with F6 - F7 and won't move the cursor.

In addition, the screen does not turn off after the set amount of minutes in the power manager.

What is going on? How can this be repaired?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

Some questions; Why you have updated the BIOS?
Are you sure you used the right BIOS?

In my opinion you shouldn't t to update anything if the laptop works properly!

However, try to access the BIOS, set the default settings and save the settings before exiting the BIOS.
If this does not help, I would pick up the laptop with the Toshiba Recovery CD.

    Good bye

  • Satellite A100-225 screen does not load

I have a toshiba A100-225 and whenever I start the laptop the screen will not load or show anything. Does anyone know what the problem with him?

    Hi Michael,

The screen itself may be defective or the FL inverter has failed. Try to connect an external monitor to your laptop and see if you can get a good view. If the external monitor does not work then it is probably a problem with your graphics chip.

    Kind regards

  • Satellite A100-200 - screen dead/black

A100-200 laptop bought in November 2006 and have not used it since. Last year, the screen is lit and failed frequently until it now shines at all. The fans are working and heat production.

Some people say the motherboard was going on, but this seems to be such an easy answer even for the so-called experts. A Dell laptop, that I didn't have with professionals, saying he needed a new motherboard.

I put one in me only to find out that it was the power supply (brick) who needed to change!

    Who can make a trust?

    Ideas, people?

    Hi alexlendoye,

In my view, quite easy, you can check the laptop: connect a monitor external and that s all!
If the external monitor works well, you the internal screen is defective and must be replaced (perhaps only the FL inverter which controls the backlight).

By the way: you can get the new spare parts of an authorized service provider. Technicians can also swap the display for you it's a little tricky.
http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com > support & downloads > find an authorized service provider

    Good luck! :)

  • Is broken on my Satellite A100-820 screen?

    Hello

While my wife was using her cell phone yesterday, she suddenly had the horizontal and vertical lines of color (all kinds of colors, probably 1 or 2 pixels wide). I told her to restart, which lead to a total collapse of the monitor.

When we turn it on now, turn on the right monitor, your stay in this way until it reaches windows (I can hear the sound of it to achieve the connection part). Then he gives me a few plots of different sizes of different bright areas. At the same time are again a few vertical lines. The amount of lines and spots changes at each restart, but as you can guess, don't see actually us all that on windows (or maybe we do, but it's all compressed in a few pixels wide).

I tried to hook the laptop to our TV (it worked before) with a regular VGA cable. When I press Fn + F5 to the point where the laptop monitor turns off the coast and transfers to the TV (have to press twice for that), I just got a green horizontal line of the TV as well as a few other horizontal lines of a pixel.

Initially, I assumed that the monitor was broken, but since I get no image on TV, I'm afraid, is something else (or several questions together).

My questions boil down to this:
    1. is there anything else I can do to make the external monitor work? (Because I don't see anything, I can only imagine that I connect when I press the keys) I know that Windows still works, so if the external monitor could be implemented I would be fine for now...
    2. everyone guess (know?) what parts of the laptop are probably broken?
    3. can replace these parts?

OK, so moving: I still have the same issues as above, but since everyone seems to be in the dark as much as I am, I have another question:

I have a software that can only be activated x number of times (EA games) and one of them is on the laptop. Now, I can still boot into Windows, but I don't see anything. Is it possible that I can withdraw authorization or uninstall this software so I don't lose no (other) cd key?

It would work even for connect the HDD (I checked, it's a SATA) up to a desktop computer as only the hard drive and start this way? The hardware configuration may be so different that it will invalidate my Vista installation and possibly even the validation of games with it. But it will allow me even to start Vista yet, or is it too hard to Toshiba cable material to do on a Windows desktop platform?
