  • How to install Dell OMSA on a free host VMware or VMware vSphere Hypervisor comments?

We are virtualizing our 2012 R2 Windows Server and you have a Dell PowerEdge T310 server. We have installed vSphere hypervisor free version 5.5 on the physical server.

Does anyone know how to install the Dell OMSA? I heard that it will not work if it is installed on the Windows Server R2 2012 host because of the virtualization layer.

I read a few posts on how it's done, but I can't always get my head around it. I think I've also seen people install a VIB on the hypervisor vSphere itself?

Can you please describe the General steps or point me in the right direction on how to run the OMSA? The Dell PowerEdge server has a RAID, and we must use OMSA to see a RAID controller unexpected sense errors if they are generated. We used to have a problem with consistency RAID and have had to start again before.

He also seems to be an OMSA plugin for vCenter, but I don't think we can use vCenter because it's the free version of vSphere hypervisor.

    Hello

There are a lot of articles and posts on how to install OMSA under VMware. If you encounter problems then please post an explanation of what you are having problems with. Here's a post I did on the subject. It has a link to a youtube video that includes step by step instructions:

Integration of OpenManage for VCenter requires always the OMSA agent must be installed on the hypervisor. Correct, it is not a free version of VCenter. No installation procedure who advises using VUM or VCenter should be ignored because you will not have access to these utilities.

  • free "original vmware' update esxi5 for HP custom esxi 5.1

    Hi @all

I have a question about the upgrade of an original vmware esxi 5.0 (free version!) on a G7 HP Proliant DL 380 with HP P2000 G3 MSA SAS attached to esxi 5.1

I can use the customized image of hp for this upgrade or do I use the "VMware ESXi - 5.1.0 - 799733 - depot.zip ' VMware? '"

    https://my.VMware.com/group/VMware/details?downloadGroup=HP-ESXi-5.1.0-GA-10SEP2012 & ProductID = 285

I have several drivers HP and for example the HP ESXi installed Bundle offline...

How can I preserve the 3rd third-party drivers installed and beams when I update? the 3rd party drivers and the beams are compatible with esxi 5.0? (I thought it would be great if I can go to the image of HP custom because everything I need is built into this image :-))

someone has done this before? I have to do it on a production system and I don't really have any other HP hardware to test the vom vmware esxi 5.0 for hp upgrade custom esxi 5.1

    Thanks for your help!

    Kind regards

    Klaus

    Hello vmklaus,

It works smoothly, and you have two options:

    (a) download the file from VMware "VMware-ESXi-5.1.0-799733-HP-5.34.23.zip" (found on https://my.vmware.com/group/vmware/details?productId=285&downloadGroup=HP-ESXI-5.1.0-GA-10SEP2012) and put them in the data store.

Then SSH to your ESXi and fire following command:

    Update profile of software esxcli d vmfs/volumes / [your datastore] / [your folder]/VMware-ESXi-5.1.0-799733-HP-5.34.23.zip Pei HP-ESXi 5.1.0 - semi-trailer]

    (b) download the VMware 'VMware-ESXi-5.1.0-799733-HP-5.34.23.iso' file, burn the bootable ESXi HP-Branded 5.1 Installation on a CD for the deployment more far.

Don't forget to load the updates, available on http://www.vmware.com/patchmgr/findPatch.portal

Please keep in mind that the HP SmartArray real driver has a bug. It displays an alert on the Firmware even if you load the current Firmware.

    Kind regards

I've been using VirtualBox for years, but business environments using VMware, so I need to learn how to use it. I only want to use the free version, non-epreuve. I navigate tabs [produced] Albums up to [free products] and click on [VMware vSphere Hypervisor] after logging in to my account. Which brings me to "Free" page VMware vSphere Hypervisor (ESXi)™ By clicking the [Download] button brings me to the page to download and gives me a VMware vSphere Hypervisor 5 license.

After the download, installation and application of the license, told me I have 60 days.

Am I being directed to the wrong version?

    Thank you

    Richard

I sign up and added to the license, which showed that 60 days.

In this case enter the license key was not working properly. It works with the hypervisor license key or ESXi running in a 60 days trial mode 'unlimited' you got. Please connect to the link I provided before, to find your hypervisor license key.

Use the vSphere Client, and then connect to the ESXi host. Select the 'Configuration' tab and click on ' features of slot license ' in the box 'software '. There you can edit/enter license key.

  • Install ACS 5.3 on VMware Player?

I get an error when you install ACS on VMware Player (not VMware Workstation).  The error is "sda drive specified in the score command that does not exist."  I found this: https://supportforums.cisco.com/thread/201443 which says to use the LSI instead of BusLogic adapter.  The problem is, I don't have this option when creating a new HARD drive or when I go into the advanced settings after you create the new HARD drive.

Is it possible to install ACS 5.3 in the free version, VMware Player?  Maybe there's some magic .vmx that someone found...

  • VMWare 6.0.1 crashes under Mavericks 10.9

The machine virtual running smoothy under Windows and Mac OS X 10.8.5 8.1. An update to 10.9 broken things, however. The application crashed (Bloomberg in the screenshot) was the prime suspect but after a subsequent restart of the virtual machine, it is after that the operating time of 10 minutes that crashed Internet Explorer, also, so I think that the problem is not application associated within the virtual machine.

Does anyone have directions on how to fix this?

Post edited by: Amadeus71 Edit: version number of VMware

I think I've identified the problem, then here is your tutorial on how to plant VMWare 6.0.1

The user installed Windows 8.0 (the version of DVD retail), its installed software (Bloomberg as mentioned above, but which turned out to be irrelevant) and more importantly INSTALLED SUPPLIED MCAFEE software that comes free with VMWare Fusion 6. It worked well, and at one point, he did the update to VMWare 6.0.1.

A few days ago Windows prompted to upgrade to version 8.1 which he did. Unfortunately, McAfee Antivirus didn't get off in the process (he would refuse to install on Windows 8.1, however, citing the incompatibility) and without really using the VM, it suspended the it. Then came Mavericks that the user upgraded to as well, but at this point, I think the accidents would also have happened if he had stayed on 10.8.5.

In any case, the combination of McAfee Antivirus and Windows 8.1 caused not only the virtual machine, but the application VMWare 6.0.1 to plant as soon as the virtual machine is currently running for a little while. In one case, from Internet Explorer 10 minutes after the restart it was enough to send him to heaven bit already.

The solution I chose was to re - install VMWare 6.0.1 (just in case) and recreate the image on the virtual Windows machine but this time without McAfee Antivirus. So far, everything is stable.

I hope this helps someone else.

  • Migrating from 5.0.0 free ESXi / ESX 4.1.0 a local database to bought ESXi 4.1.0 with SAN

We currently have four host servers.  Two host servers are the free version of VMware ESXi 5.0.0 and ESX 4.1.0.  I have two hosts in a cluster, obviously with the version under license and running VMWare VCenter ESXi 4.1.0 running.

All of these guests have all (vmdk files etc.) data stored locally on the host servers.  I'll be migrating to a new SAN and buy under license of VMware.

I need to move the virtual hosts free version VMware servers (5.0.0 ESXi / ESX 4.1.0) to the cluster host ESXi 4.1.0 under license.  I can export the folder containing all the files and import it on the cluster license.  Once records are there, how can I activate the servers of records and pull up?

I have to get off these hosts old existing virtual servers on the new servers which we you place your order.

In this case I the new environment configuration and then for example use VMware Converter to migrate (V2V, with the virtual machine is turned off) the virtual machine of the former hosts in the vCenter Server environment allowing you to select the target storage.

  • With BSD and DummyNet VMWare image

    Hello

I installed VMware EXSi 5.0 and now, I'm trying to install VMware image VMWare with BSD and already implemented-DummyNet in place (I got the file from this http://codefromthe70s.org/dummynet.aspxblog).

    I followed these steps:

    1. create a new virtual machine

With the operating system invited: Free BSD (64-bit)

    2. go to the data to Configuration/Storage/travel store and download the file (image VMWare with BSD and DummyNet) already implemented - FreeBSDDisk.vmdk

    Images_storage.jpg

    3. right click on the virtual machine and change the settings

    4. choose the 1 CD/DVD drive

5 locate the ISO data store file

    Storage_file.jpg

    6. connect a power on

At the end of installation, I got this error:

    Error.jpg

Please, someone knows what's going on?

Thanks a lot for your help.

    http://CodeFromThe70s.org/dummynet.aspx

The file you have a vmdk or VHD, not a CDrom ISO.

When you create your virtual computer, on the hard disk configuration, should have selected "Use an existing virtual disk" rather than create a new one.

You can still do this now, by removing the hard disk already present in your virtual machine and adding a new.

For the new disc, select the option 'Use current' and browse the data store for your downloaded vmdk.

It is best to remove the old drive, close the "Edit settings" to apply the change, reopen "change settings" and add the new disk.

This way you are sure that the new drive is added with 0,0 SCSI id and becomes the first disk of your virtual computer.

But that VMDK file is probably not ESX (i) compatible.

If it is a single file, it is intended for workstation or player, not vSphere.

You can convert it to a format compatible with the command, vmkfstools (on the local or remote shell, or remote cli ESXi).

Another option to convert, is to create a virtual machine in Vmware player, using your VMDK and then use the free standalone Vmware Converter to migrate you ESXi host.

  • Installation of VMware on an external HD?

    Hi all

I'm new with VMware solutions and I wonder if it is possible to install VMware Workstation on an external disk to virtualize a server.

To be more clear, in fact I m using a laptop and I need to test stuff on a server, so I just want to know if I can virtualize a server using VMW installed on an Ex SD.

    Thank you

Welcome to the community - you will need to install VMware Player (free) or VMware Workstation ($) ib your laptop and then you will be able to virtualize the server - here links to the workstation documenttion http://www.vmware.com/support/pubs/ws_pubs.html pr VMware Player documentation http://www.vmware.com/support/pubs/player_pubs.html which will provide steps on how to move the server to a virtual machine.

  • What free Vsphere or only a 60-day trial?

If someone could explain the ESXi / Vsphere free trail of day 60 vs?

I download what I thought, it was installed free version (VMware ESXi installed 4.1.0) and I connected the first time and there is a message from path of 60 days.  I click the link it takes me to a web page, I entered the KEY provided in the link in the email and it says already registered.  I clicked on the link again "link of the day trail 60 ' in the vsphere client and it will lead to a registration page!

I'm going around and around here.  Is there a free version or the single track of 60 days now?

    Please notify

    Thank you

When you sign up for the free download of ESXi, you would have been sent an email with a link to where you can get your key not expiring.  This key can be installed on the host ESXi by going to the configuration tabfeatures licensededit.

  • On the ESX 4.1 free and paid version

    Hi guys

    I was reading this http://communities.VMware.com/docs/doc-10780

    and suddenly, I read this

    The free ESXi 'problem '.

With the free version of ESXi, then you cannot really use a third party tool to perform backups. It's against your EULA. It is the pay version of ESXi go. So remember that you use to make sure that you do not violate the EULA.

As for other mechanisms, you can snapshot of the virtual machine and then copy data via vSphere Client/VIC as well. There is also VMware Converter. These tools do not violate the EULA.

I really did not know that... Let me tell you

A few days ago, I installed this on one of my clients ESXi

    https://www.VMware.com/support/product-support/vSphere-hypervisor/

BUT I used the licenses they have purchased not the free license vmware betrays... So this means that my client cannot use third-party software to back up their virtual machines? This is a mistake or what?

In fact since we are partners Vmware how can I have the permissions or rights to download Vmware products?

    https://www.VMware.com/support/product-support/vSphere/

Since then I tried to download the paid version and I got this

    Mware ESXi Installable 4.1

Sorry, at the moment you are unauthorized to download VMware ESXi Installable 4.1. You have the following options:

    Thank you very much

The 'free' and 'paid' code is the same code - they just change their behavior based on the license.
