Is it possible to add a HARD internal disk to my HP Pavilion dv2700 model?

I have a HP Pavilion dv2700 laptop model dv2700, I have yeas hd bought back. It's a HARD 160 GB internal drive. Is it possible to add another 500 GB HARD drive or a 1 to? Please let me know what type of disc HARD ir will support and how do I check my motherboard plug.

Hello

The reader at the link below would be perfect for your laptop - it's the largest capacity disk HARD that I know will work in your laptop...

Hard drive 320 GB

The procedure to replace the hard drive is detailed from Page 61 of your & Maintenance Guide.

Regarding your motherboard specifications, try to install an application like PC Wizard

Kind regards

  • Is it possible to add a hard drive to a VM running via a script or a program without using the user interface

I'll try to ask this question clearly, but I ask that read you it carefully, because I can't do a great job of setting out clearly what I'm looking for.

I know how to create a virtual disk in a batch file or a script.  I know how to have a running virtual machine to detect a newly added hard drive and format it in Linux, BACK, and NetWare. I do not have scripted this part, but I did it manually by adding records via the UI and then by doing the steps manually to make the operating system to detect and format the newly added drive. In each case, these steps are scriptable with the exception of the addition of the drive in the user interface.

The only way I know to add a new hard disk to a virtual computer running is through the user interface. I don't know in a way that can contain script (for example vmrun or an API call) to make.

I guess that maybe I can have the virtual machine to go into sleep mode and then add the HDD in the vmx file while the machine is in standby mode, then put the computer to sleep mode, although I have not tested this.

My question is, ' can a virtual drive be added to a virtual machine running without using the user interface and without put the machine to sleep, or in other words in a script any?

  • Satellite Pro A210 - recover the HARD internal disk

Happy new year guys – love the active forum community!

My Satellite Pro A210 dead spectacular a few months back and being out of warranty, I did my best to fix it - diagnosis I think has a faulty motherboard (No bios loading, no start-up through external boot disks/drives) and if I do regular backups, there are always a few files that get missed so connected the HARD drive to another PC to find the HARD drive died in that it is not even turn.

Is it possible, even bother to try to change the circuit printed out the HARD drive, like-for-like, or is the circuit "listens" on the disc (even if it could lead to another Board blown) or what are my options to get the HARD drive looked at and repaired, at what price?

Sorry if this is a stupid question

    Hi bearoon,

This means you want to replace the Control Board on the underside of the HARD drive itself?

Well, theoretically it of possible, but note: you can only replace it with a Board of 100% same HARD drive. If you use it from another HARD disk you can destroy the HARD drive and everything on it always makes not readable so it s sensitive technique.
So before of you exchange it make sure that the model numbers of the two HARD drives are 100% identical.

I've never done this on 2.5 portable hard drives but a few years ago I did it on my drive HARD 3.5 from desktop and it worked and so I was able to recover my data. The reason was that t wasn't HDD spinning up more (totally dead) and the problem was the faulty Control Board.

  • S50 satellite - B - 15 p - it is possible to add addional SSD or HARD drive?

    Hello

    I recently bought a laptop Satellite S50 - B - 15 p.
    I'm very happy with it

My question is about its SSD drive
    It is now 128 GB.

It is possible to add addional SSD or HDD.

Or replace the current by the new with a higher capacity.

    My best regards

I don't have this model of laptop, but according to some pictures I found isn't Googling around this model of laptop SSD? HARD drive covers in the lower corner, therefore, as a general rule, these updates is not supported and should not be done by the owner of the laptop.
If you want to have full access to the SSD, you must remove the lower cover and it can be done by authorized personnel only. If you try to do it yourself you will void the warranty.

In my opinion, you should contact the nearest Toshiba service provider and ask for help or, at least, good advice what to do about it.

    Thank you

Not in the way you probably do. Here is the Service Manual:

    Manual

See Page 50. Unlike the Envy 17 and Pavilion dv7, Pavilion 17 has that a single hard drive Bay. The only way to add a second hard drive is to remove the DVD (optical drive) and insert a DVD to the hard drive bay adapter. The manual shows how to remove the DVD player and you can buy the adapter at amazon.com or jacobsparts.com. Note that this is a 9.5 mm thick disc, not a 12.7 mm. Both types are available. I do not recommend the adapter DVD player solution because you lose the use of the optical drive, and also because the interface of optical drive is usually not as fast as the main hard drive interface. Always fast enough for simple storage and you can run a video of her, but you do not want to edit the video of this disc, for example.

    https://www.jacobsparts.com/items/HDDBAY-02/

If you decide to go the route of adapter DVD I would buy a large capacity 5400 RPM SATA 2.5 inches wide and drive hard thickness 9.5 mm. No sense in buying a reader more expensive high-performance.

Hai, I want to know is possible to add the second drive in the system. Because I saw site acer toher, what would change portable version with the double storage 1 TB HDD + 256ssd.

Yes, you have a complete HARD drive Bay in this version and a M2 (?) SSD, so if you take a pure SSD version, you can install a second HARD drive into the open Bay.

Is it possible to replace the hard drive with an SSD?

or would it be too expensive?

Yes.  There are several alternatives.  I found a way relatively inexpensive, using a map of mSATA (very small SSD) and an adapter to connect it to the connector IDE 44 pin internal of my PowerBook.  It works very well.  Rather than repeat what I posted previously, you can watch these two topics (which also has good info, other users)

  • Add 2nd HARD drive to Time Capsule - best practices?

    Hello

I have an iMac running El Capitan at the end of 2012, supporting up to a 4th Gen 2 TB Time Capsule. The total size of my backup is 1.05 to. Incremental backups take the total space used on the TC to about 1.6 TB.

Fear of the HARD drive TC will: phut that I, as a "belt and Suspenders" approach, yesterday signed a 2 TB Western Digital Elements HARD drive for the TC and other introduced Time Machine backups. He is currently conducting his first backup to the new HARD drive to the Mac OS extended (journaled) format.

The iMac and the TC are connected via 200AV Homeplugs.

I have two questions if you don't mind...

Should I have copied the existing backups from the drive HARD internal TC for the new drive external HARD first, so that two backups are ongoing for the same item, with the same 'history', as they save in alternation? What is wise or even possible? As is stands, the new hard drive back up the iMac from scratch so if the TC HDD died, I'd lose all historical backups (they date back to March 2015), with just a very recent version on the new HARD drive.

The progress of the backup on the new disk, while that connected to the TC, is slow. After that 11 hours I'm only 16 GB to 1.05 TB - it has not yet calculated the time remaining yet :-) I assumed connecting via Homeplug iMac would be more robust than the Wi - Fi for such a transfer of data. I appreciate there are several factors at play here - the size of the files, the indexing of the backup, the speed of the Homeplugs, age / my wiring standard, etc. etc.

I would have been better connecting this direct drive new external DRIVE in the iMac, the first backup, then connect it to the TC to continue it's incremental backups replacing? Yet once, is it still possible?

Thank you very much for any help. After spending only to Mac a few years back I love TM - I have never found a Windows backup system that has worked for me the way of TM.

    See you soon.

Should I have copied the existing backups from the drive HARD internal TC for the new drive external HARD first, so that two backups are continue from the same point with the same "historical."

IMHO you do it the correct way back up again.

The story is not so important after a few weeks and months... If the computer was stolen for example... what you want to do is to restore the computer as is... and what you were doing last year is really little relevant... Even if the TC Gen4 goes wrong, the story is never likely to be lost by the TC Gen4... it just needs the disc removed to put in the work. But it's the current image of the computer which is always the most important.

We found copy of the enormously successful backups. Although in this case it would have been possible to do an archive... always if you asked the question of what you need to do... Myself and several others here always recommend a new clean as backup being the most reliable method.

I would have been better connecting this direct drive new external DRIVE in the iMac, the first backup, then connect it to the TC to continue it's incremental backups replacing? Yet once, is it still possible?

This is a good question... EOP adapters can be very slow. Slower than wireless AV200 are a pretty old standard and the actual speed could be all about 30Mbps down... It might surprise you... and indeed there have been measured before.

The problem is that Time Machine backs up differently on the local network FC drives... When you plug the USB key into the TC then it's a network drive and the backup will not be recognized.

Pondini wrote a method to get around this.

    Here see Q18.

    http://pondini.org/TM/FAQ.html

I have not tried... Bob Timmons that's regular shows here has and discovered that it was not reliable. In my view, that a backup is too important to fiddling so.

However, leaving the USB drive plugged into the Mac and keep the local backup of very good sense. It is much faster and more reliable than the backups over the network.

If you really want to have the backup on the WD drive plugged into the TC, then I recommend do you via ethernet... Remove the TC of the network if it is too far for a patch lead... you can save the current configuration (export from the main menu of airport utility), then plug it into the computer directly with a short patch lead... and the USB in the TC, the backup will be much more quick... less than one full day (24 hours) for 1 TB if all goes well. Once completed you can then put the TC via the USB back in the network location.

  • Can I use the drive HARD internal extra for my Satellite A200-1 to 9?

    Hello, new to these forums,

I recently bought the A200-1 to 9, and I'm very happy with it. I was interested by the addition of an extra internal HDD to the exisitng 120 GB one. I obviously did not have enough research I bought a Toshiba MK2035GSS: 2.5 "HARD 200 GB drive thinking it would be slot directly into the spare slot and it doesn't.

So, really, I'm looking for some advice if I can add an extra internal hard drive and if so what model and how. After taking the back cover it looks like the aura of the place for another drive, even though I'm not sure if correct connections are there, or maybe if the space is used for something else.

    Any help much appreciated.

    Thank you
    Martin

    Hello Martin

As far as I know that some A200 models come with hard drives 2. because of this Toshiba laptop brand standard chassis. All A200 models use this standard chassis. Your A200 comes with a single drive HARD and because of this place for the second disc is empty. This does not mean that you can use the second HARD drive.

I have the same laptop as you and in my case there is no any prepared for second HARD drive HARD drive connector.

  • Pavilion Slimline s5700 Series: is it possible to add an SSD?

I have a s5770t on the way and I was wondering if it would be possible to add a form factor 2.5 "SSD system (i.e., having both the SSD and the original hard drive)?

I looked on this issue online support documentation, but only came to how to replace the hard drive, not if it is possible to add a second.

Looking how to replace a drive hard slimline here, it seems that thought it might be just enough space in the drive cage to do by moving the original hard drive upward and the installation of the SSD below... looks like there's even a slot at the bottom of the cage for this purpose.

Here are the pictures that I have from the referenced link above that make wonder if it's possible:

Thanks for any help that you could provide!

    -Darrell

At the reception of the computer, I opened it and out of the cage to the hard drive and found there was a little more than 1 cm of headroom above the main hard drive:

.. just enough room to fit in my 9.5 mm thick Intel SSD:

    I ran into two questions:

    (1) I am able to mount the SSD with only one screw. Although the use of this computer is as a home theater PC and will not be moved, a screw is minimal sufficient.

    2) there are only two power supply (one for the HD) SATA cables and one for the DVD player, which required me to buy a splitter cable SATA power, similar to the image below:
