  I finally bit the bullet and improved Mavericks with El Capitan and who now have to deal with pictures. I understand that pictures is designed to look like my iPhone and the iPad, but I don't store 64 000 photos on my iPhone. I'm not interested in using iCloud, so the fact that the Photos work well with iCloud is questionable. I got my photos carefully classified into events in iPhoto, often also the keywords tag and gathered in the smart Albums.
