Is it possible to hide or restrict access to a registry key?

During our deployment of operating system using SCCM 2007, we add a registry key to identify the operating system as being our image that admins are known to them to create and use its own image.  Lately, we find that some of the local admins have managed to reproduce our registry key to give the impression that they use our image when they are not.  I would like to create this key and prevent to either see the key if possible but if not then able to see the values or export the key to use in their own image.  Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Right click on the folder that contains the key you want to restrict and click Permissions.  Change them to just add you as an administrator - make sure you use your administrator account (leaving only system accounts) of right and delete account directors and all other accounts of individual users of the authorization (or to give them read only permission access).  Click Advanced, and do the same thing in the special permissions section.  Although it limits a bit more than just the key (it restricts that folder), it may solve your problem.  Each of the keys themselves are not subject to permissions and cannot be applied separately - but I think the record should do the trick and probably not cause problems unless you need it to be able to access the other keys in this file.  In this case, there is no solution available under Vista.

Oh and there is no way to hide the keys in registry at all - and if there were, he could immediately be overridden by an administrator so that it would not solve the problem.

I hope this helps.

Good luck!

  • Key - access to the registry is prohibited

I'm not an expert by any means, so please be gentle with me!

I recently got a new computer that is running Windows 7, and when trying to install a program (which, admittedly, is a few years old), I get an error message saying that access to a registry key is prohibited.  I really want to buy the new program - is - it possible to access the registry key?  and if so, how?
Thank you very much in advance!

Right-click on the .exe install of the program you are trying to install, and then select

    "Run as Administrator".

  • Restrict access to esxi welcome / getting started page possible?

In my reading, I was not able to find an answer, so I thought that it is better to ask the collective.  Is it possible to restrict access to the page began to welcome esxi / obtaining (page you get to by typing the address of the esxi server in your browser)?  ID like it if an ordinary user cannot even see this page.

    Thank you

In ESX, it was easy to make (http://vmetc.com/2008/10/15/modify-virtualcenter-and-esx-web-interface-to-prevent-vi-client-downloads/) but do not have access to the root file system (in ESXi) you won't be able to take this path.

That said, you should really look at restricting access to the ESXi hosts themselves by isolating them with VLAN, then only authorized systems can access. You can see the Security Hardening Best Practices Guide for advice on securing your installation.

my wireless connection says "restricted access" no network connection, I used the same key code to get my other computer I can have up to 5 computers online at the same time online.

    Ideas:

    • You have problems with programs
    • Error messages
    • Recent changes to your computer
    • What you have already tried to solve the problem

    Hello

This means that the computer cannot connect to the router.

    Try this process.

Check the Device Manager for the wireless card valid entry.

    http://www.ezlan.NET/Win7/net_dm.jpg

If there is no valid entry, remove any entry from fake and re - install the drivers for the wireless card.

Check network connections to make sure that you have a network icon/entry wireless connection, and that the properties of the icon (right-click on the icon) are correctly configured with the TCP/IPv4 protocol in the properties of network connections.

    http://www.ezlan.NET/Win7/net_connection_tcp.jpg

Make sure that if there is Wireless Utility a utility vendor is not running with the native Windows wireless utility.

Make sure you firewall No. preventing / blocks wireless components to join the network.

Stack TCP/IP work should look like.

Right-click on the wireless network connection card, select status, details and see if she got an IP address and the rest of the settings.

    http://www.ezlan.NET/Win7/status-NIC.jpg

Description is the data of the card making.

The physical address is MAC of the card number.

The xx must be a number between 0 and 255 (all xx even number).

YY should be between 0 and 255

ZZ should be between 0 and 255 (zz all the same number.)

The date of the lease must be valid at the present time.

    * Note 1. IP that starts with 169.xxx.xxx.xxx isn't valid functional IP.

    * Note 2. There could be an IPv6 entries too. However, they are not functional for Internet or LAN traffic. They are necessary for Win 7 homegroup special configuration.

    ---------------------------------------------------

Above everything is OK, you must be able to connect to the router.  A window that says connected does not mean that you are really connected. Connection to the router means that you can enter the IP of the router base in an address bar in one go, being able to connect and configure the router menus see. If it is not connected in the log to router from any computer that can connect to the router wirelessly with a wire, disable wireless security, (make sure that the wireless SSID broadcast) is on and try to connect with no. wireless security.

    --------------------------------------------------

I really checked and configured every thing and it doesn't work.

Software firewall application that is not configured to allow local traffic (between the computer and the router is also a possible problem.
some 3rd party software firewall continue to block the same aspects it traffic Local, they are turned Off (disabled). If possible, configure the firewall correctly or completely uninstall to allow a clean flow of local network traffic. If the 3rd party software is uninstalled, or disables, make sure Windows native firewall is active .

  • Restrict access VPN client on IOS 12.4

I'm trying to restrict access to the client VPN ports for the specific customer VPN leading to a router in 1841 running IOS 12.4 (9).

With versions of IOS of pre-12, 4 that this could be done by using the ACL on the outside, but with version 12.4, it seems that VPN connections are allowed even without a declaration of "permitted" in the external ACL (similar to "sysopt connection permit-ipsec" on the PIX).

Is it possible to limit the VPN traffic on the external interface of the client?

    See you soon,.

    Christoph.

    Hello

The feature you're looking for is called:

Access check crypto on plaintext packets

Check it out in the Configuration Guide for Cisco IOS, version 12.4 security

In sort, set the encryption to your ACL post, go into your crypto-map and apply it with:

    set ip access-group {access-list-number | access-list-name} {in | out}

Is it possible to hide a conditional function in responsibility. Say it together a small number of users, I need the function display and for some users, it must be hidden.

    Hello

The normal thing to do is to create a similar additional responsibility and using Exclusions to 'hide' the features you want.

Then assign it to restricted users.

    Kind regards

  • Restrict access from the view of external endpoint

    Hello world

I got an interesting question to come today: is it possible to restrict access to the view of physical endpoint?  This client does not support BYOD somehow and provided instead of thin laptops HP for their users access to the view since then at home, via a security gateway.  I know that you can disable the web interface from view completely, but they seek to block connections to nothing but these thin laptops.  Thank you!

  • Possible way is to restrict the user to the planning an application

    Hello Experts,

I have a requirement as I want to restrict bit user related to the demand for labour in the planning depends on business unit and product.

that is... The test user could not access of the user to the company as an employee depends on some operational units and related products. So is it possible to do outside the [Chronicle] manual process.

    Thanks in advance...

Are you just wanting to restrict access to specific members to enter data to or it also includes being able to 'see' only the data based on some examples.  For example, in the type of financing plan, I have write access to the Dept 123 for all accounts of actual Net profit, I want they have read access to this Department?  In this case, I would make sure that specific effective accounts, that I make sure that the user/group has only read access.

    Thank you

The user or the user root itself won't be able to connect to the level of the BONE, but the FTP connections are allowed. Let me illustrate:

User or root cant login for the respective user to the BONE

    [root@dev oracle] # cat/etc/passwd | grep ftp_user

    FTP_USER:x:501:502: / home/ftp_user: / sbin/nologin

    [root@dev oracle] #.

    [root@dev oracle] # su ftp_user

This account is currently not available.

    But FTP is possible:

    Connected to 192.168.1.2.
