Is it possible to import a layer group into a project to another project?

Hi all

I am currently using after effects 5... Yes it is version 5, not CS5.

I'm trying to figure out if I can import a layer group and their applied effects in another project while keeping all the editable attributes and positions of the imported layers with respect to one another.

I see that I can import an ASP project file into another project through the FILE to be IMPORTED, but just, which brings the raw project window files/layers and don't place no layers in the timeline with all their positions, the effects and the edited attributes, how I had like.

Also tried to previously compose the layer, but who did not leave their editable once a demo was made... just makes the 7 layers I want to import in to another project all one layer and not let them be changed the way the 7 layers are separately.

In Adobe Premiere, there is a real ' IMPORT the PROJECT ' selection under IMPORT that allows me to import an entire project in another project and allows me to place the imported project where I want in the new project editing... that's what I try to do in After Effects.

I realize that there may be a way easy to make it in one of its latest versions of After Effects and the other may say, 'just buy the new AE CS5', but I figured out allot of things on my own so far and I love after effects 5 for what I do now... maybe later on the newer version.

Thank you for any input,

Digi

Just import the source project in the new project.  Open the original composition, select the layers you want and copy.  Then, open the new composition and paste.

If you want to be really ordered on this subject, you can make a temporary version of the source project that contains only the layers you want to move to the new project.  Import this temp project to the new, then you can delete the temp project.

  • Is it possible to import a .css file into a project?

We have developed several projects during the months that I've been here, and I thought it would be convenient to set up a .css file and store somewhere, then import it whenever I'm starting a new project, rather than having to put in place a new .css file each time. It would also ensure consistency.

FYI: I use RH2015, with WebHelp output.

    Thank you

@Jeff. This method is fine for your workflow where you don't care how it looks in the design editor.

@Lon copy in the root as Jeff but select all topics from the topic list and right-click. Then, you can apply the CSS to the topics so that you see the results in the design editor work you. New topics, simply apply this CSS when they are created.

  • Is it possible to import image files directly into an open document?

Is it possible to import a series of image files, say jpegs, directly in an open document, rather than having to open all image files with drag-and - move each individual in the open document? Specifically, I'm a dentist and I often get sent to me by other offices digital x-ray images. But they come as 16 or 18 separate image files and I need to put them in a virtual "chest x-ray: mount", so I can see them all at once, rather than having to open all images and alternate between them. So I opened a blank document in PS (CS4), then I navigate to the folder that contains all the image files that I received, select all and open them all. In PS, I can now click on each tab of the image and drag the image into the void "montage" and close the image. This new image would then become its own layer in the document 'mount '. But I must repeat this 18 times for each patient. I thought that if there was a way to open the new document "mount" and then select all of the image files and 'import' somehow all image directly in the document - essentially "automate" - which would save me time and aggravation cargo! Anyone out there have any suggestions? Thank you very much!! Dr G.

Yes, but after you have all your images as layers in a new document, that you can simply select all the layers of-> and then drag them to your document in one fell swoop.

  • Is it possible to import contacts from outlook into Jabber?

    Hello

I would like to know if there is a way to import contacts from Outlook to Jabber?

I know there is a way to import using the xml file, but how can I import contacts from outlook to the xml model?

    Thank you

    Gilad Darshan

It is possible to export your Outlook contacts as XML using a tool called "OutlookAddressBookView" from Nirsoft.

The problem is that the tool does not export the contacts in a Jabber-readable XML format. You would have to edit the XML file to make it readable by Jabber. This process would be laborious but feasible using the find/replace function in any text editor.

Jabber requires the XML files to be in this format: http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/voice_ip_comm/vxc/english/vxme/9-3 _...

  • Is it possible to import a single layer of HAVE (and keep as a vector)?

I created illustrations using layers - export to After Effects (CS6) for the animation.

Is it possible to import a single layer to HAVE? Thank you very much!

When importing and Illustrator document as images instead of a model, you are presented with an option to select the merged layers or choose your layer. I'm a little surprised that you even need to ask.

  • Motion of Photoshop Workspace Import/layer group

Rather than having hundreds of layers in a movie file, I want to change (rough trim, sound no matter what), save or copy these sections or chapters in separate files, then import these video groups (even if it is flattened like a dot PSD file) in the timeline file film distinct to organize together and final assembly.

Obviously a cant just Ctrl C, Ctrl V a layer or group because copies and plunges the clip original raw not the edited clip in the timeline.

There is probably a simple answer, but I can't seem to import a PSD to point to another file. What I can do is make a video file, which means the selection of codecs and output parameters, and then import this file. Gets quite difficult to handle.

Does anyone have advice. IM on Photoshop whatever they claim the monthy tenant and its fine for what I do. I don't have a Prime Minister pro.

    Thank you

Just in case where someone has the same investigation and an apology Im only new to this.

Edit your clips and and file save in a selected folder, you can easily keep track of. Photoshop will assign the file save a .psd (which is the default format it converts when he reads the file from your camera in photoshop) If you want to still edit later by default leave "layers" checked in your backup routine.

When you want to bring your clips in your movie editing, save the edited clips (as copies, whatever) but uncheck "layers" in the Save dialog box and it will flatten the clip .psd file.

In your movie file its probably safer to create a new group of video / add media items / your folder and tick 'all formats. In mine, "all sizes" are the last in the list and for some strange reason, hides the bottom of the page. That is, if you do not, select any format, to half way down to spread it, and then select your format again and the list will read this final selection down to reveal "all the Formats.

You can change all your clips the camera safely and then put them in your film without first making it on a video format and waste hours of time. Photoshop is not stupid.

Until I mentioned flatten clips edited, if you forget to uncheck "layers" on registration of your edited clip, it will always be important the clip of .psd not flattened without showing the layers in the layers panel, and you will be able to see and play. But as soon as you touch it, you will get an error message and it will disappear.

  • AECC BUG? Photoshop groups is no longer the import with layer styles?

    Hello.

I noticed something small.  But important to me.

Import from a psd into After Effects works beautifully.  But in previous versions, when you import a psd model group resulting retains the layer styles.  This happens is no longer for me in CC.

    Everyone there this problem?

    Is this by design?

    Is this a bug?

    He will be back?

    Thanks for looking,

    -Josh

After Effects has never read the layer on a group styles in a PSD file. Application of layer groups styles is a new feature in Photoshop CS6. After Effects CS6 and CC are not last updated to read the layer styles applied to groups.

IOW, we just never wrote the code to make it work. I suspect that you were using a different method (for example, workaround below) to provide for several layers of Photoshop layer styles in After Effects.

You can work around this limitation by transforming your group in a smart object layer. Right-click on the group in the layers panel, and then choose Convert to smart object. You will now see the styles of layer on the associated layers in AE, but styles will be editable and PSD layers will be merged unfolded, not a nested model.

Please submit a feature request for all the features (like reading the layer on the groups styles, or editable on the smart objects layer styles, or to import dynamic objects as nested compositions) that you would like to have added to After Effects:

  • Is it possible to "solo" a layer?

Is it possible to "solo" a layer?  I think it can be done in photoshop and AfterEffects and is common in multitrack audio applications.  Basically, I would easily hide all the layers except one I work without having to manually, click the eyeball to each individual layer.

Is this possible in Captivate 9?

    Thank you

He is using the eyeball in the timeline icon, no other way AFAIK. You can zoom in on the object (same shortcut keys as in PS). Why would you want to hide all the chronologies object except it's a little cryptic to me. I use CP a few hours a day and I never miss this option. Maybe you can explain why it might be important?

  • How to activate the movement of tools toggle the layer/group off

Update photoshop today and the command key, which allows use of select lock when it is used with the tool moving, is become a rocking/layer group. Hot damn, this really screws with years years of muscle memory with this tool. Is it possible to return it to the way it used to have it function?

This topic was brought up a little bit in the poast weeks, while many users encounter this same problem.

I seems to me that the interim solution is to hold down the 'V' instead of command. Just treat the keystroke 'V' exactly the same way you treat the "Command" key... in other words, hold the V key, click anywhere in your document to select your layer, then release V.
