  I have an acer aspire 5536, which broke out last week. Blue screen of death and then black screen saying no operating system, impossible to access safe mode. I took it to a store and they tested and said that the hard drive was not working.

  You can also borrow and use a Microsoft Vista DVD, which contains the files for the different editions of Vista (Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate) must be installed. The product key determines which Edition is installed.

  Do you really think on installing Windows 7 over several years old Satellite Pro 6100?

  In my opinion, it won't work because it is too old and not fast enough. Newer operating system that is supported by Toshiba is Windows XP and this should be the best choice for good old classic.

  So just to be satisfied with Windows XP, it's a good choice for older computers! :)

  Yes, you can install Win xp on this laptop, but you will need to use the drivers for Win XP 64-bit.

  European driver Toshiba page provides accurate drivers for 32it version, so you have to collect drivers 64-bit with your own hands...

  But to be honest; I do not recommend using Win XP 64 bit... either you choose 32 bit or Win 7 64 bit.

  Win XP 64 bit was not so popular as the 32-bit version and most of the applications and the software is compatible with the 32-bit version.

  You will need to run the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor. It will inform you whether or not you can run Windows 7.

  In regards to your personal files, they must be saved on a device external or other removable media. This is because you can not 'upgrade' itself from Xp to Windows 7. It requires a clean install which means that all data on the hard disk is deleted during the installation of 7...

  Installation of Windows Xp from a usb key involves a lot more than simply copy the files from one windows on a USB disk. It is much more difficult than don't imagine most (but not impossible).   The task bar is the horizontal bar at the bottom of your screen time. In contrast to the office, which can get obscured by the windows on top of it, the taskbar are visible nearly all the time. It includes four main sections:

  ·         The Quick Launch bar, which allows you to start programs with a single click.

  ·         The middle section, which shows you what programs and documents you have open and allows you to quickly switch between them.

  ·         The notification area, which includes a clock and icons (small pictures) that communicate the status of certain programs and computer settings.

  Add or remove programs on the Quick Launch toolbar

  The Quick Launch toolbar is located on the task bar and is a convenient way to open programs. You can add or remove program icons in the Quick Launch toolbar so that you have easy access to the programs that you use frequently.

  To add a program icon to the Quick Launch toolbar

  Click the icon for the program to add (you can find most icons of programs on the start menu or the desktop) and then drag it to the Quick Launch toolbar.

  Note: If you don't see the toolbar tools quick launch, right-click on an empty area of the taskbar, click Toolbars, and then click quick launch.
