Is it possible to move my SSD in AHCI mode without having to reinstall Windows 7?

Before installing Windows 7, I entered the BIOS and changed my AHCI Mode IDE SDS for a reason any and I forgot to switch back. Now, I want to put in AHCI mode because it says online that AHCI mode could improve SDD/HDD performance considerably, compared to IDE mode. However, if the mode is enabled in AHCI mode, my Windows 7 will not able to start, so I continue to choose the IDE for my SDS mode.

Is it possible to move my SSD in AHCI mode without having to reinstall Windows 7? Or is it really useful to change the return method? I have no hard drives except an SSD in my computer.

See how you go with the options below-

Be sure that set you the BIOS to AHCI again on restart.

    Greetings,

I use a MacBook Pro (which belongs to the company I work for) and I have a personal session on it. When I installed the applications Adobe CC (Lightroom + Photoshop) I did not pay attention where the applications will be installed (by default/applications folder). Now, I wish I could move the apps in my personal applications folder: / Users/Nicolas/Applications.

I tried simply to drag and drop applications between the 2 folders that, but he did not, the action only aliases created in the last folder...

Someone knows how to do this correctly?

    Hi Nicolas,.

Without having to reinstall, it is not possible.

You can change the installation location through the desktop Adobe CC application.

Click the gear on the top icon right > select Preferences > section under the creative cloud, you can set the installation location.

  • Satellite L300D-11V: can I run SSD in AHCI mode?

    Hello

    I just installed a SSD and Win7 64 bit on a laptop L300D-11V.

Anyone know if it is possible to run in AHCI mode as I don't see the option in the BIOS?

I saw there is a BIOS update but if it is not updated to enable the AHCI I would rather not bother...

    Hello

I assume that it should be possible to use the SSD with AHCI mode.

The AHCI means that the SSD or HARD disk would go with SATA performance but for that you need to install the SATA driver first.
If SATA is set in compatible mode, then a SATA driver is not necessary to install the Windows operating system.
    Simply said;
-n t need SATA drivers in compatibility mode
-you need SATA drivers in AHCI mode

The SATA drivers are part of the Intel Storage Manager and you can download this European driver of Toshiba or Intel page

  • How to move a local network printer without having to reinstall the drivers

    Hello

Is it possible to change a printer to a network printer on a local printer without having to reinstall the printer drivers?

The computer on which the printer (a Lanier LP116c PCL 5 c) is currently connected [directly] is running Win XP.  It is a stand-alone computer without any connectivity; network, internet ect.   He has no printer drivers installed because the computer had been connected to another computer by using working groups and was able to print at the Lanier through working groups.  But now that there is no longer connected to the 'network', but rather directly connected to the printer, it will not be printed.

I tried to change the properties of the driver to "tell the computer" that the printer is now connected directly however when I try to open the properties I: "printer properties cannot be displayed.  The print spooler service is not running.

How to 'know the computer' that the printer is now connected directly without having to reinstall the dirivers?

    Thank you!

    Carrie

You have two questions.  One is assigning the correct port for the printer and the other is fixing what is originally the print spooler service to not run.

As much as I can give you guidelines on how solve the second problem, it will be much easier for you to uninstall and reinstall the printer (once the print spooler works again) that in order to create a "USB virtual port" which is what needs to be done unless the computer was once a printer connected by USB is installed.

Often, but not always, an order print spooler is the result of a corrupt print job stuck in the queue or a damaged printer driver.  However before you clean things up, on general principles, that you can download, install, update and run full scans with each of these two free programs:

    AntiMailware MalwareBytes
    SUPERAntiSpyware

Do not operate the two scans simultaneously.  Each will take a long time, so start it and then go do something else for a while.

    Cleaning of printers

NOTE: If you have ever had (but retired) a Lexmark or Dell - badged Lexmark printer installed, the command "net start spooler" to step below may fail.  In this case, type the following line in the black command prompt window and then type the command "net start spooler" again:

dependent on the spooler of sc config = RPCSS

Note that there is no space before the =

If still no joy, use the alternative method that is linked below.

    A. Clean on print jobs pending

    • Open a command prompt window (start > run > cmd > OK)
    • Type the following in the black command prompt window, and then press ENTER after each line

    net stop spooler
    del/q '% windir%\system32\spool\PRINTERS\*.* '.
    net start spooler
    output

    B. clean the old printer drivers and install the latest drivers by using the directions in One Article.

Alternative to the method of his first Article: http://members.shaw.ca/bsanders/CleanPrinterDrivers.htm

Once the print spooler has started, click Start > printers and faxes, right click on the Lanier printer icon and select properties and select the Ports tab.  If you already have a USB connected printer installed on this computer, there should be a port named USBnnn.  If there is, check the box and OK your way out and your printer should now print when connected by USB.  If there is no USB port listed, then do the reinstall as explained in an Article.  The driver install package available here should create and install the USB port for you: http://www.lanier.com/downloads/driverFrame.aspx?path=http://support.aficio.com/bb/html/dr_ut_e/lan_u/model/c30e/c30een.htm

  • Is it possible for me to reset my administrators password without having to buy or download anything?

I can still access my administrator accounts.  I don't have access to another computer, or can I buy blank media (cd, floppy, flash drive)  I read on some "hidden administrator account", but the explanation I found was a little vague.  If anyone can help me, I'll take the tips and tricks I can get.

I'd also preffer to solve this problem as soon as possible, if I'll try anything, I prefer something that doesn't have me not wait days to receive something in the mail or by e-mail.

    Thanks in advance!

Assuming you have Windows XP, you can access the built-in account named Administrator as follows:

If you have XP Home Edition, you must restart the computer in Mode safe.  To do this, restart the computer and press the F8 key repeatedly to leave immediately after the Power On Self Test is completed.  If you see the Windows logo, you waited for a long time to start tapping and you have to start over.  Once you get in the Advanced Boot Options menu, use the up/down arrows to navigate to "Safe Mode" and press ENTER.  When Windows starts in Mode safe mode, the administrator account is displayed on the Welcome screen.

If you have XP Pro, you can use the technique of Mode without failure, as described above, or press CTRL + ALT + DELETE twice while in the screen of welcome (with no connected account).  The 'classic' logon dialog box is displayed.  Select administrator from the drop-down list or enter it under 'user '.

In both cases, the default password is blank (no password).

Once you are in the administrator account, go to control panel > user accounts to reset the password on any one of the user accounts on the computer, including those with "computer administrator" privileges

The account that you remember the password if the account named Administrator, there are methods to reset this password, but Microsoft's policy does not have information on these methods must be provided in these forums.

    Hello.

I bought the new Inspiron 11 3147 (2 in 1 model).  When "SATA Operation" is set to computer laptop AHCI cannot detect the SSD (Intel 530) in the Setup Windows 8.1.

When I change "SATA Operation" to ATA Windows 8.1 can detect SSD in the installer without any problems.

I think that it is the BIOS error. There will be an update? I can't use my SSD now :(

    Kind regards.

Resolution is not to use the disks mentioned problems that Dell does not guarantee compatibility.

  • Possible to move from XP to new computer without installation CD?

I have an old computer that I got from a friend who no longer want, but today she has exceeded so that there is not much I could do with it. It has Windows XP installed, and I would like to know if I could move XP without CD installation to a new computer, I built recently. I am currently running Linux on my new PC.

you will not be able to because that move the hard drive to a totally different system will engage xp anti hacking device.

you see, during the initial installation of xp, it collects information about all the hardware on this computer and generates a security hash.

Thereafter, whenever the initialization of xp it collects information about the material and compare it to the hardware hash to ensure gaps little or not with the hardware.

So basically, if xp is started on this newer computer, the hardware hash that it has stored on the drive will not match the information he gather on the new computer.

However, if you have the xp installation cd and the product number of matches the OS on the hard drive, then you can do a repair install and create a new hardware hash.

also, remember that the old xp may not work on computer systems more lately, anyway.  Thus, not only is the hardware hash as a factor for xp, but incompatible material can be as well.

as a suggestion, you can put the old computer with your new network.

  • Is it possible to scroll the timeline left or right without having to move the mouse to the top of the window?

First has a really cool feature that allows you to toggle a tool at hand to grab the chronology and away from the everywhere where you happen be left and right. I see that hearing has a hand tool if you navigate with the mouse to the top of the window, but it turns out to be a frustrating problem on my bench I have a large monitor, so up there, just to spend a little is frustrating. I know you can hold SHIFT key and scroll the mouse wheel, but this is very insensitive and in many too small increments to be helpful for what I want. I still find myself all just wishing I could grab the chronology of everywhere where is my cursor and simply drag to the left or to the right. Is it possible somehow?

The left and right of the Page Page is very convenient. Who might do the trick for now.

So, is there no way to disable the audio scrub? As I am locating in sound FX and things, I'm constantly wishing I could turn that off so I could scrub through the video and find my points of synchronization without hearing my audio monitors ROAR to me. First has it mapped to a keyboard shortcut to quickly switch it on and outside.

  • Adding an SSD on my PC without having to replace the HARD drive

    Greetings!

I have a HP Pavilion Elite HPE - 180 t desktop PC with Windows 7 64 bit installed.  I do a good amount of games on my PC and a year ago I upgraded my card to an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 470 graphics and my diet to a Thermaltake TR2 RX 750W unit.  I also have a card mother mATX (9.6 "x 9.6") of PEGATRON.

Recently, I tried adding an SSD for my machine in order to improve the performance and organisation for some PC games that I love.  I did some research on the subject and am found a bit confused on whether or not, my motherboard will be able to handle the addition of an SSD in my machine.  I have read that I need you sure that my motherboard supports natively AHCI?  How can I check to be sure that if I buy an SSD that I'll be able to integrate it into my system?

To be clear, I want to continue to use my disk regularly to run my operating system and all the other goodies on my PC and install an SSD for store and load my music/movies/games etc.  I was watching some affordable 'mushkin' SSD that seem to do the trick.  I can give the link for more later if necessary.  Thanks for your help!

    Hello

F10 to the HP splash screen you will get in the bios.

AHCI is recommended for use with an SSD, but it is not necessary. Most modern SSDS are supported operation garbage collection which does almost the same thing to maintain the SSD.  Check with the manufacturer of your SSD.

Even if the SATA controller is set to RAID and the SSD doesn't not part of an active array, topping should always work.

  • SSD and AHCI mode

    Hello

I have a HP HDX 18 1080eg laptop with Windows 8 running. Now, I would like to install an SSD to fix up. I heard that before installing Windows to new SSD, I should change the settings in the BIOS to AHCI on my hard drive. Now, my problem is that I can't find it in the BIOS. Where can it be found and may have changed?

    Hello:

There is no BIOS settings to change the speed controller in the HP consumer notebooks.  Professional laptops there are select this option.

I looked at the specs of product for your laptop and I see that it is (or can be) with two hard drives.

So, we need to understand what is the setting of the default disk controller, which is pretty easy to do.

I can tell you that it is set to AHCI or RAID (since your PC has two hard disks, it might be on the RAID).

Here's a simple way to check...

Go to Device Manager, expand the IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers section and make a note of the name of speed control.   If the AHCI BIOS of your laptop drive controller value, you will see the name of the variable speed drive listed as an Intel(r) ICH9M-E/M SATA AHCI Controller.

If you don't see this controller to this article name, the BIOS of your laptop is on RAID.

You can confirm that glancing down the list topics in device in Device Manager and you will arrive on a section of storage controllers. Click to expand, and you will see the Intel (r) Mobile Express Chipset SATA RAID Controller.

It is my understanding that RAID is roughly the same as AHCI and if you download and install the latest driver Intel RST, that will support the TOPPING of SSD features.

  • Is there any possibility to open one tab of private browsing without closing all normal windows navigation?

I googled my question and found a similar question with a response, but the link to the add-on has been disabled by an administrator (someone tell me why?).

I want to have one tab of private browsing open when I do my banking. I want the other normal tabs (cnn, reddit, etc) so I can connect without hassle. When I click on 'Start private browsing' close all tabs... It makes me very angry that this simple option does not exist.

You can open another instance of Firefox with its own profile folder if you want to use the private access to specific sites navigation mode.

    Hello

I have a Toshiba NB300 netbook, running Windows 8 Pro 32 bit, very happy with it!
I have a Corsair 3 112 GB Force SSD drive is installed, and everything seems to work fine!

Read on the SSDS, I see that a better performance for executing the SSD in AHCI mode.
So I went to menu configuration of startup and changed compatibility in AHCI mode.
I actually tried a few times, always with the same result, failure!

When the system is trying to start I get a message saying that there was a problem and that
the system is trying to gather information.

The only solution is to go back in the program installation and handed to the compatibility mode.

The BIOS is up to date, and I just don't see any way to solve the problem.
I really want to get best performance with this net book as possible.
I have a screenshot of the details of Speccy SSD drive, but I don't see a way of fixing?

If anyone can advise me on how to get mounted AHCI mode and go that I would be really grateful!

    Thank you

    Chris

Unfortunately on this forum we don t have reports on the use of the DSS on NBs I have NB520 and I would use the SSD for, but so far I didn't find the right.

As far as I know by default BIOS is set to AHCI mode. What operating system you have installed? The original that you got with your laptop or your own version? Have you installed the s Intel Storage Manager of the Toshiba download page?
