Is it possible to reinstall Windows without a disk?

original title: reinstalling Windows without a login

Hi all

My brother has changed his password on his computer (Windows Vista Home Basic) and now he don't remember it. He didn't have a password reset disk.

We tried to make a password reset disk to another computer and try to use it on his, but he failed.

I read that there is also an administrator account on the computer in safe mode. This has been proven false on his computer, as well.

Finally I found that if you re-install Windows then it would work. This has not been tried still for reasons given below, hense why I ask here.

We do not have a Basic Windows installation disc, because we have not improved. It's a phone, too good.

Is it possible to re - install Windows another way, and if so, how do you do that?

Please keep in mind that we do NOT have the installation disc, and we can NOT connect to any.

See you soon

Vista recovery media obtain and/or use the Partition Recovery Vista on your computer to the factory settings .

There is no Vista free download legal available.

Contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send a recovery disk/s Vista set.

Normally, they do this for a cost of $ small.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In addition, ask them if you have a recovery Partition on your computer/laptop to restore it to factory settings.
See if a manual provided with the computer or go to the manufacturer's website, email or you can call for information on how to make a recovery.
Normally, you have to press F10 or F11 at startup to start the recovery process...
Another way I've seen on some models is press F8 and go to a list of startup options, and launch a recovery of standards of plant with it, by selecting the repair option.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Also ask them if it is possible to do the recovery disk/s since the Partition of recovery in case of hard drive failure or System Crash, when you are in service again.

They will tell you how to do this.

Every computer manufacturer has their own way of making recovery disk/s.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Or borrow a good Microsoft Vista DVD (not Dell, HP, Acer, recovery disk/s etc).
A good Vista DVD contains all versions of Vista.
The product key determines which version of Vista is installed.
There are 2 disks of Vista: one for 32-bit operating system, and one for 64-bit operating system.
If install a cleaning is required with a good DVD of Vista (not HP, Dell recovery disks):
At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu
Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.
  • Reinstalling Windows without installation disks
    Let me clarify some things that I think are made:
    Laptop = ideapad z575 which is a windows 7 64 bit computer.
    Windows wouldn't boot because it has an error since avg and update wondows - avg seem to be ashamed that their driver is the last show at startup but remove avg then showed another driver and it all points to a depth of problem.
    In short, I feel that a reinstallation is the best way forward.
    I saved my data sisters so happy to do a quick format and reinstall of windows 7 - have the serial number sticker, but no disk I do not think that it shipped in all.
    I didn't modify all partitions, but using a utility disk in the back that I was able to access it via the standard boot drive I can put another active partition... now to return back I had to create a bootable utility that I made from USB, it also allows me to inspect the readers through a windows interface.
    So I am here and able to do a lot in the back through my USB. I saw and was able to run a recovery program that is located on one of the partitions. But he told me that something was friends with readers and I think it's because of my defining a different partition as the only active.
    What is the next best step for me it feels exaggerated do not use partition lenovo gave to reinstall windows, hoping I wouldn't need browse and find/download all the drivers, etc... and not to mention updates of bios etc...
    I can say that I have the following discs and back access and access through GUI.
    When I say access via the GUI I found that I was able to do this system revoery options screen when he says click to search the drivers an interface will appear and where I can the eyebrows of all partitions and USB - which was pretty cool. The button says "Load Drivers" and from there, I can choose the partition and try and run one touch back.
    When he first boot from USB it looks like as it is by default and selects a Boot called drive (X and the default folder is the Windows/System32 folder.)
    Here are the disks or partitions I can see and explore
    Lenovo (C 27.5 Free GB GB 28.9 contains just request files and drivers.)
    Local disk (E it looks like there's a Windows installation on it that I can see my sistsers files in the my documents (I got these by using XCOPY to get the complete recursive directory and do be careful if you use just "copy" as it will ignore folders and files inside!)) For me, it's the normal bootable disc and one that is broken.
    349 GB free of 421 GB so this seems to confirm that it is the main trunk and use the partition.
    Local disk (D only 166 199MB MB no said no files and folders at least since the GUI - perhaps back can show me something...)
    Start (X 29.1 MB of free space of 31.5 MB I don't think it's my USB (NOT confirmed) the last modified date is 2009! he seems to have a windows installation - is possible to reinstall from that?) I tried to click on a setup.exe found here but it does not work via the GUI as it comes to find specific drivers is not not a general file Explorer.
    I have 2 drives USB also visible to help me. I got the above files to another on the ERD. And the 3rd is the CD. If these are known as CDROM (F, Reapir disk (G: I did that) and 32 GB Flash (H)
    Maybe I need to burn an iso install wondows in the latter. Who can be a last resort.
    What is perhaps a few right steps to take right now. I think I should be able to change my active partition and get a contact working again by reversing what I was doing back disk partition - don't remember the name... a few trial and error required.
    But I hope that with this info I can get my sisters laptop that works again. I think also that if I took it to a local shop they will simply be to format and reinstall windows 7 and drivers do not care to take the time to maybe get to a situation of factory. It is because the baisc economy. I don't want to go that route because I know I can do what I want to just make the best way.
    Knew nothing about this function - will keep in mind for the next window of time slows down or does not start - throw his toys out of the pram etc... suffering from windows computer slow? You are not alone
    In any case, I think I've sorted it. Hope that C is not too fragmented because I chose to not be complicated with a format and keep the original scores. In this way its just easier.
    Wifi that I had remembered to disable in the BIOS.
  • Is it possible to reinstall Windows without all the preinstalled HP software?
    I have a HP Pavilion dv6-1334us notebook, installed with Windows 7 64 bit. I'm very familiar with the process of recovery, DVD and everything, but I recently read this article on Lifehacker: http://lifehacker.com/5832896/download-windows7-isos-to-reinstall-without-restoring-your-system
    The possibility of installing a fresh, clean and legitimate Windows 7 with my product key current copy seemed to be a good thing. Nor should I changes made by HP, Norton, Office 2007, Wildtanget games and all. When installing it, I was invited to spit a product key. I tried the one at the bottom of my book, which is a bit worn and hard to identify, but I don't seem to have a chance. I reinstalled the version of HP with my recovery disks and used Speccy (a program by Piriform, the same developer that does Ccleaner) to find the product key in my registry. I took the key and tried in the installation process. He seemed to have lived without a hitch. However, after checking my activation status of Windows, turns out that the key has been rejected, apparently marked as invalid for this type of activation (I forgot the exact wording, but it is easily recoverable if necessary). So now I write here, ask if anyone else has tried this on a flag, and if so, successfully and if this, how. Is there a sort on the other key hidden, I'm missing?
    I know that all this OEM situation, it is shaded in the first place, but I would like to know if I train for a cause without possibility of success. Also, I discovered that HP Support Assistant has something on a product key, and so I ask if this could possibly be different as well.
    Thanks in advance,
    Clayton M.
    Hello
    You should have no problem as long as you keep to the following points.
    1 use a detail (or a created DVD from an ISO downloaded) which is the exact version the same as the original OEM installation - IE if your laptop comes with Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit is retail (or your own drive created) you need to use.
    2. you need to use the activation key on the COA sticker on the base of your laptop.
    3. you generally (although whenever I did) need to use the 'method of phone' to activate the operating system once the installation is complete - see a guide on this here.
    This is a perfectly legitimate process and is supported by Microsoft for Windows 7 - see here.
    Kind regards
    No, Windows 7 and Windows 10 require unique product keys and their respective installation files.
    If I decide to buy online, some say it's downloadable, how can I reinstall it without using a CD?
    Windows 10 is available as a digital download:
    Buy Windows 10 family/professional edition
    For 5 years, Microsoft made it fairly easy for users of the Windows 7 operating system to get reinstall media. If you have lost your support disc or installation retail collection; either it has been damaged or defective; You can download a copy of the edition that you have licensed from a membership site called Digital River. More recently, Microsoft ended the availability to reinstall media that you can download as a. File ISO in Digital River, which is a digital reproduction of an optical disc.
    It was particularly convenient for people who could not easily get the manufacturer's recovery media, did not want to pay the fees required to get or preferred a clean configuration without the software packaged manufacturers or even a recovery partition does not work. It's easy to use, all you had to do was reinstall and reactivate using the product key located on the certificate of authenticity and download all the drivers on the manufacturers website.
    Given that this option is no longer available, what are your options? See the article for more details:
    How to: What are my options for Windows 7 reinstall media?
    What to do if you cannot get your manufacturer recovery media, refuse to use or to buy it or the Microsoft Software Recovery Website does not work?
  • Is it possible to reinstall Windows XP on the desktop of our family by using the i386 folder in my laptop XP installation?
    Hewlett-Packard Windows XP edition my family family computer from office worked very erratic recently and the resettlement of old CD provided by the reseller of the computer do not work because we have improved the system video card, motherboard and power supply. In addition, the system runs very slowly, the resolution suddenly returned to a low resolution (we cannot set to a higher resolution, regardless of how hard we try), and the sound on the PC does not work correctly. I should add that we have the copy of Windows is legitimate and has been installed by the computer gurus in a store of the local computer. I don't know how they have reinstalled Windows, but we do not have functional installation for Windows discs.
    I'm no computer expert, but it's my suspiction that malware detected by Microsoft Security Essentials on the computer during a full crawl may have done havoc on computer files and corrupt drivers and other essential records and files before being detected and deleted by the anti-virus software this last.
    While I looked on the World Wide Web for a solution to our problem, I found a few sites that said that Windows can be reinstalled utiilizing from the i386 on the computer record. I looked for the folder on the desktop of my family, but nothing helped. Several records with that name, but I couldn't find the winnt.32 files in these folders. Just out of curiosity, I searched the i386 folder on my netbook Windows 7 Home Premium and found, but it seems to relate to my previous installation of Windows XP. My question is, it is possible to reinstall Windows XP on our bureau a copy of the i386 on my netbook, if we have the Windows XP product key that came with our office?
    P.S. If the latter does not work, is it possible to borrow a disc to install Windows XP Home Edition to a friend / relative if we have the product key for Windows XP Edition family?
    Hello
    You have a product key for Windows XP Home edition retail?
    If you have a product key for Windows XP Home edition retail, you can borrow the installation of Windows XP Home edition disk, install and then try to activate it.
    If you have the OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) product key, you can contact the PC manufacturer for a specific recovery for the system disk.
    Hope the helps of information.
    1. What is the problem you are having with the Windows Xp operating system that is installed?
    So an upgrade on Windows site, it is necessary that you have the same Windows components available on the computer as on the installation disc, until the exact Version.
    Know what type of network card you have and download the drivers of its supplier.
    It doesn't matter what it is always a good idea before re-install/upgrade to log on to the computer support page, download independent drivers from there and put them on a flash drive.
    I suppose that you access the BIOS.
    Sorry, but you're on the wrong track
    Timox has already explained how to install the system.
    If the HARD drive recovery is not possible, you should use external media (disk or flash USB stick) to install the system.
    You have a Windows disc? If this isn't the case, you need a.
    If so, you could create an installation key USB flash memory.
    If you would google to install Windows 7 from USB you will get much useful occurrences
    There are also a lot of youtube videos how to create this bootable USB key.
  • How to reinstall windows without losing any data on the Satellite A100
    Hello everyone!
    I have a Toshiba Satellite A100 laptop and would like to reinstall Windows. The disc was divided into 2 parts. WinXp Home is installed on the first.
    What happens with the data on the secondary disk if I use the recovery CD? It will be formatted?
    And if this is the case, how can I reinstall winXP Home without losing the data on the second drive?
    You can install the OS on the first partition only and all data saved on the second partition will not be deleted. To do this procedure of departure recovery and after choosing the language button tablecloth call SETUP. It is placed on the right side.
    If I like what you must remember he chose the second option. The first one can be used when you want to create the new partition (DO NOT choose this one).
    Bye and good luck!
  • Reinstall Windows without losing personal files
    I have an external hard drive I have Windows 7 on, but recently it seems to have got some corrupted files because it does not start. It gets past the windows splash screen, and then sits down with a cursor on a black screen. I can move the mouse cursor.
    I think that the best way to solve this problem would be to reinstall all windows files.
    I can plug the hard drive into another computer and view the files of the operating system of the computer.
    In short, what I'm asking if there's a way to reinstall all files in windows without losing all my personal files
    You can perform a custom installation.
    Boot from the Windows 7 DVD
    Click Install now
    Accept the license agreement
    When the option is displayed to select a type of installation, click (Custom advanced)
    Select the disk partition where you want to install Windows 7 click Next.
    You will receive the following warning:
    The partition you have selected may contain files from a previous Installation of Windows. If so, these files and folders will be moved to a folder named Windows.old. You will be able to access the information in Windows.old, but you will be able to use your previous version of Windows.
    (At all costs, do NOT click on anything in Format, deletion or Partition name.) So even do a custom installation, your personal files are still kept. Click OK
    The installation program will now begin installation. During installation, your computer will be restarted several times.
    Once the installation is complete, you can complete the Out of Box experience as the choice of your laptop, create a username, password, your time zone. You can then proceed to download the latest updates for Windows and reinstall your applications and drivers.
    You can then retrieve your personal files from the Windows.old folder and reinstall all of your applications and drivers.
