is it possible to update service pack language to change my windows 7 English into Chinese?

I'm going to buy a laptop in the States, where all machines are downloaded with windows 7 in English. I wonder if I can change to the simplified Chinese version? Forced to subscribe or it is free to download from micro Center? Thank you!

Hi all

I addressed the issue on my side.

A Studio Visual C++ Redistributable 2008 installation was the problem...

When he tried to install the language pack from windows update I got this error in the event viewer:

The .cab file [FilePathFromMyVCRedist] is not a valid language module. The language module is possibly corrupt. Last error: 0 x 80070002...

I uninstall this VCRedist and this updated time window was fine I saw the status of the installation.

And now I can pass for french!

    Hey lasdj,

Thanks for posting in the Microsoft answers site!

If you receive Windows Update error 6d9e while installing SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 3 by using Windows Update, it means that the installation folders and directories are compressed or encrypted.

To fix this problem, make sure the folder locations where you are installing the service pack to aren't compressed or encrypted, or specify a different folder and then run Windows Update again.

Therefore, remove the compression of the DATA directory and run together to the top again.

Remove compression from the C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server folder and see if you are able to install the updates without any problem.

See the links below for more details:

  • Update Service Pack - where to download the SP2 for Windows XP

    original title: Update Service Pack

I recently had to restore to full factory on my computer due to a virus.  Now, I try to bring my computer updated.  I tried to get these updates via the Microsoft Web site, but I'm unable to receive or download updates because only now have Service Pack 1.  Y at - it another way to download the Service Pack 2/3 so I can make sure my computer is up to date.  Thank you.

See the following (slightly modified) longtime MS MVP PA Bear:

Once installed the clean, you will have the equivalent of a "new computer" in order to take care of everything in the list below, in order, before connecting the machine to the internet or a local network (i.e. other computers) and before you plug in a flash, SD card, or any other external computer diskotherwise:

    1. Make sure that the Windows Firewall is enabled.
    2. Uninstall any moment invalid Norton, McAfee, etc., free version of test which was also reinstalled, run the appropriate removal tool (see below), and then install an application antivirus of your choice (for example, http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/default.aspxMicrosoft Security Essentials- free).
    3. Arrival to Windows Update & get the computer fully patched - see article below
    4. If you use other than MSE antivirus, consider making an application also antimalware as MalwareBytes AntiMalware.

TIP: Use another and negative computer to download programs for, for example, SP2 or SP3 installation, the installer for your new anti-virus application and or other removal tools cited below. Transfer these files to CD or DVD (not a flash drive) and then transfer the files of the CD or DVD on the desktop of the computer you are using.

VERY IMPORTANT! => Any Norton or McAfee free trial which is preinstalled on the computer when you bought will be reinstalled (but invalid) when Windows is reinstalled. You need TO uninstall the trial for free AND download/run the appropriate removal BEFORE tool to install updates, the Windows Service Packs, or updates of IE AND BEFORE installing your new antivirus application (for example, Microsoft Security Essentials - free).

  • Windows Vista Service Pack 2 causes the message "Windows install will not be accessible".

I am running Windows Vista with all the updates installed but Service Pack 2. I uninstalled Service Pack 2 because it was causing problems with the windows installation service. I was unable to install microsoft office update because the windows installer could not be accessed, and Adobe Acrobat Reader could not be repaired or updated for the same reason.

With installed Service Pack 2, I traveled all troubleshooting for the windows service install. I have a click with the right button on my computer, manage, service and open the properties of windows install. I have activated the service, but still couldn't install the updates Microsoft office or Adobe Acrobat Reader update/repair. I also tried to configure windows install automatic rather than manual when the computer starts.

I had the problem "Windows install is not be available" for nearly a year. After trying to do a repair Vista boot without result, I uninstalled all updates. The problem disappeared. I decided to install the updates one by one. After you have installed Service Pack 2, the problem with windows install returned. The Service Pack installs completely and then open my computer properties indicates that Vista runs with Service Pack 2 installed.

Uninstall Service Pack 2 and blocking automatic updates will not install it was my only solution to the issue of "Windows install is not be accessible". I fear that it may cause a security flaw in my computer, however.

If someone has encountered this problem, and if so, is there a solution to install Service Pack 2 for my windows service install still works correctly?

Applications, (Norton and McAfee) are known to not uninstall (or upgraded) themselves. Composition of such problems, Geek Squad is also infamous for having failed to download/run the Norton removal tool before installing another AV app or security suite! The 'leftovers' Norton may have caused your post-SP2 installation problem.

    1. download the Norton Removal Tool, save it to your desktop: ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/english_us_canada/removal_tools/Norton_Removal_Tool.exe

    2. close all open applications (that is, anything with an icon on the taskbar).

    3. click right on the file saved in #1 above, and then select run as administrator to run the utility. DO TAP not your keyboard until the race ends, then restart.

    4. open Internet Explorer (only) to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971058 & run it in DEFAULT and modes difficulty then AGGRESSIVE. [1]

    5. restart & test (i.e. display SP2 & install it again). [2]

TIP: Temporarily disable Sunbelt Vipre Antivirus before installing SP2. If you still encounter problems after installing SP2 again, open a free support by my previous response incident.

I tried and tried to install the updated Windows vista 32 bit service pack 1, but also try to update manually, however I continuously get the update error 80073712. I tried the scan tool update service, troubleshooting automatic on the Microsoft Support Web site, as well as research on the Microsoft Answers site for more assistance. However, I still have the same problem, then what else could be the cause so many dell used laptops for not updating this service pack. Either way, I haven't installed service pack 2 either, as I mentioned on some of the answers.

Microsoft says that the operating system is corrupt, so SP1 or SP2 fails. Follow this link for repair.

In addition, the article is ok, but he fails to mention that, after analysis of the Sfc runs, must complete the process.

It is, done Sfc, you must also type: CHKDSK C: /F agree to restart, type: EXIT

restart the pc... When the computer reboots, the repairs are installed/fixed, w/o this cmd, just retry the update is not
