Is it possible to use Media Center itself as an Extender?

Is it possible to use Media Center itself AS an Extender? (if you use 2 EM)

I'm already under W7 MCE in my living room and I would add a second pc downstairs and use this pc (with w7, Mce) as an Extender. I don't want to add an extender like a 360 because they are much too loud and have all of the features that ECM has (like navigation, for example)

Thank you

No, unfortunately not. You can map some readers with the content. but would have contained DRM
can be a problem.

Basically, the only device that you can use as an Extender is a Xbox 360 console. You cannot use another computer. All third-party Extenders are abandoned. Media Center started as Windows 10. http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/set-up-a-Windows-Media-Center-Extender has information about the Setup program.

    Hello

    (1) have you installed Windows XP Media Center Edition on your computer?
    (2) what is the brand and model of the computer?

You can try the following method and check if it helps.

    Method 1:
    (a) computer and do not open any other software before you watch TV. Close software may not be sufficient in some cases.
    (b) after the opening of Media Center, wait about 10 seconds before trying to watch TV.
    (c) If you have recently installed new TV tuner hardware, make sure it is properly connected/sitting, make sure that it is compatible with the version of Media Center you are using.
    (d) reinstall the TV tuner drivers. If you have installed a tuner separately, reinstall the drivers disc that came with the tuner.
    (e) use Windows system restore to restore the system at a time where the error will not occur.

    Method 2:
    (a) turn on the Media Center computer and connect to the Internet.
    (b) click Start, all programs, and then click Windows Update.
    (c) I agree to download plug-ins from Microsoft if you are prompted.
    (d) to read and respond to information on the Web page. Carefully read the page that the information may change from time to time.

    Method 3:
    (a) the television signal must come into the computer through the coax or s-video input. Make sure that you do not connect the standard video cable (RCA style) on the audio or the video output on the graphics card. Use the standard video adapter S-video if we use a standard video cable.
    (b) connect the end of the s-video cable or coaxial cable into a TV set to see if the cable is working properly.
    (c) ensure that the TV signal settings are correct for the Media Center software.

  • EPG 7 import windows media center using loadMXF

    Hello

I am trying to import data from an external MXF file in MC7, I'm following the instructions on the page to format media center guide here:
    http://msdn.Microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd776338.aspx

I use the loadMXF command, the command gives no error and says '100% done' and everything looks ok, the only problem is, I don't see the channels/guide services in Media Center or even in the Guide Tool (http://1geek1tool.com/guidetool).

Using c# and some of MC7 DLLs, I can open Bank of the media center DB file and list the features, the queues, channels and Services, by doing so, I can see that the MXF file data imported and I can see the GET new range added to queues and queues list merged , and the new channels and services get, but they are not available in the Media Center itself, I tried subscribing programming for devices using "WmisLineups.Add (Lineup);" and properly, it gets added to the list of WmisLineups, but again, the programming is not displayed in MC or tool Guide.

I tried to re-indexing queues using ehPrivJob.exe /DoReindexSearchRoot, but again, no luck.

So my question is, what am I missing here? All I want is to be able to choose the channels imported as guide services in ' channel Edit > modify registration. "

    I hope someone can help,

    Thank you.

  • How to record TV with Media Center (Windows 7) to a network drive?

Well, you would think that the new MediaCenter Windows 7 would live up to the recording of your TV for a network/player sharing. Nevermind, it seems that it is just not possible.

I have a windows 2008 R2 server and a Windows 7 machine with a TV card. Since my server has 2 TB of storage, it would be nice to save directly to a network drive. (I rode like Z :).

    I tried the following:

    1. By selecting Media Center itself: does not. Is not available.
    2. Editing the registry: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Media Center\Service\Recording to RecordPath Z:\TV. Does not.
    3. Editing the registry: set RecordPath to \\server\TV. Does not.
    4. Create a symbolic link (mklink \D) of Z:\TV and \\server\TV with parameter in the registry under RecordPath.

I am currently out of options. I could of course install Windows7 on my server, but I have no license for this, and my windows 2008 r2 is free from dreamspark.

So: How is the world possible to make this work? And why not just MediaCenter detects my network sharing?

Record on the network is not supported.  The smallest hiccup of network could cause problems with registration, or even TV live as the recording buffer would be located at the remote location.

One thing you can do is to use Windows Home Server Power Pack 3 and its function of archive TV which you can configure to automatically move all your records or only those you want.
  • Win7 x 64 Media Center is unable to play Netflix instant movies

I have no problem, watch instant movies from netflix on the netflix Web site. However, when I try to use media center to watch a movie, I get a message that it was a problem of internet connection. I can watch the movie planned but not the film itself. I called netflix and I was told that they do not support Media Center. It seems that this is the problem with DRM differences between silverlight on the site Web of Netflix and Media Center.  Any suggestions? Media Centre would be my preferred method for watching these types of films

  • No cursor in Windows Media Center

Whenever I am in the Media Center the cursor disappears.  This is a laptop, but the built-in mouse or an external mouse works.  Do you think I should remove and reinstall the program? Is this possible? I'd get the new Windows program? My computer is out of warranty so no go there.

    Hello Estebanio,

Thanks for posting on the Microsoft answers Forum.

If you use Media Center in full screen, your mouse cursor should be hidden. If it does not appear when you move the mouse again, you may need to update your video drivers to see if they have updated drivers for your video card.

You can also try and press the Windows keyboard button, it should give you back focus to move the mouse.

  • Cannot get live TV on Media Center Center (errors - TV Tuner not installed - ehrecvr.exe)

Three weeks ago, I got a Dell PC with Windows Vista and a card Hauppauge WinTV HVR-1250 TV that was installed at the factory.

Since the first day of use, I have two questions that have taken place that I think are related:

-To try to watch TV live on the Media Center, I get the following error: "Tuner not installed.  Video cannot be displayed because no tuner found»

-I get the following popup every 45 seconds or so that said error message "Receiver Service Windows Media Center has stopped working".  The details of this error message below:

    Signature of the problem:

    Exception data: 00000008

    The system version: 6.0.6001.2.1.0.768.3

I spent about 2 hours with assistance from Hauppauge reinstall all the Hauppauge software, drivers, etc..  I receive the Hauppauge WinTV live TV but still not be able to get live TV on Media Center (the same error as above - "Tuner not installed.').  The aid office in Hauppauge said that they handled several requests like mine, but not can not solve the solution must be found in Vista.

  • Issues of Media Center in Windows 7 (Pro) & questions

I tried to add movies (files) to Media Center, but it does not work.
I select the (local) drive, then click on the folder (where are my movie files), then next, but it does not add.  Why can't we just TYPE in something like that?  And why this menu seems to go to sleep?  My system partitions a WEI 7.8 and I click on a menu item and the software just sits there for a few seconds, then responds.  Where was all this time?

All my movies have very useful and consistent file names.  How do I get MMC to view THOSE and not the odd internal name in the files of brand somehow?

Is it possible to associate a poster of film or jpg with each film so the inscription looks better?  Now, it's a bunch of blocks of sickly aspect (who chose these colors?).

When you watch movies, MMC insists on sending audio directly to the optical output, bypassing the volume/mixer Windows and the volume control in Media Center.  The + - at the bottom does absolutely nothing!  Execution of Media Player Classic - Home Cinema, I have total control of the volume, as for all the rest.

There is a scroll bar?  They make it easier to jump around in the media file.

I run Media Center (on a system with two screens) and it goes full screen.  The mouse is stuck on this screen.  Why?

On another Win 7 (Premium) system with a TV tuner, how I record TV on my data disc?  The boot drive is much smaller, and since I regularly back up, I like to keep all the data off of it and on a table.  I wish that my machine "DVR" record TV shows on that second most "drive" too.

Must Media Center be run to have a programmed recording to arrive?  (I know that the computer must be on).  I guess what I'm asking is if Media Center includes a service that runs in the background, time and the timing of registration, monitoring and who uses Media Center or the utility to record at the right time.  If Media Center is open and running, it is adjustable to open reduced?

Thanks to all who can offer clues with all this.

During a Media Center, go to tasks.

Then TV > recorder > recorder storage

Change the drive where Media Center records there.

Media Center is not need to be run to record TV, it will record what you have planned in the background.

  • Button 'Back' on the Windows Media Center remote is not recognized by Windows 7

I am currently using the Windows 7 RC.  I have been for awhile now.  Recently, while trying to use the Hulu app, I noticed that the 'back button ' on my Windows Media Center Remote no longer worked to switch from the full video on the menu.  I contacted the support of Hulu and they guided me to an online tool that shows the output of a button on the remote control.  All other keys work fine, but the 'Back' button doesn't produce any output.  This means that Windows itself is not recognize the key.

The button works in Windows Media Center, itself, but it does not work when I am in Windows.  It worked fine for the last few months and I had not used for about a month (and reinstalled the RC) and now it no longer works.

The receiver displays in the form of "eHome Infrared Receiver" Device Manager and when I try to update the drivers it says I have the latest version.  Something seems to be wrong with either the driver or there is a problem in Windows 7 itself which is the cause of not recognizing this key more.

Well, I tried using the key on the keyboard and which worked to switch between menus.  I accidentally hit the ESC key on the keyboard, which worked to switch between the menu and the video as well.  Out of curosity, I tried a few other buttons on the remote control then and the 'Clear' button, which is down by the pad on the remote works!

Thanks a lot for your help mark! :-)
