Is no longer an administrator

Hello my name is Malcolm and I have a question? on my computer, I was the Admin, and I had put in place a standard for my sons account so it can access the internet under his name, but when I am logged into my account the next day, I discovered, that I was more an administrator, so now I have two accounts I and my sons who are standard user accounts , then theres A guest account, and then finally theres to administrator accounts those called HomeGroupUser$ and the other is called UpdatusUser. and now I can't even delete files on my computer or even the thanks for a system restore.

Here you go:

  1. Keep, pressing F8 during startup.
  2. Boot repair.
  3. Use system restore to set Windows to a point before you have done everything that your done.
  4. Plan ahead a little and create, test, and document an alternative admin account, even though you have a spare House key. This will save you a lot of trouble.

  • Do I still need to log as long as administrator to install something for everyone?

With Windows XP and even Windows 2003 server in some situations (especially on workgroup configurations), I found that by using the function 'run as...' "to try to install a program sometimes caused problems where it will settle only for the account I was logged as, one facility for the admin user that I used 'run as' credentials for, or worse, split the two.

So, I made a point always connect as long as administrator when a facility, unless I knew it was a fairly simple program as one who does not need installation, only to be left in a place accessible to the public as \program files\progname and a shortcut created in the "all users" folder

Is this still the case with Windows 7, or 'run as' work generally better? I just had to install something while doing a job on my account limited standard and found a great disadvantage of having to close the session because I was doing something else in the background and also had to close several things that I had opened.

I guess I could have used 'switch user', but I've learned to close all open applications when you do an installation with Windows 95, although it is cross-platform advice since I heard even earlier on the Apple II and the Macs. I know that this was the case with Windows 3.X, but it wasn't really a problem with MS-DOS because you couldn't generally longer run a program (TSRs excluded).

Some habits have life hard, and I wonder if the need to stop doing what I do, log off and log in as admin to update or install is a habit which is obsolete?

Your practices are still today pretty sound advice. He can certainly make facilities more managed to do what you describe and disconnect all users.

Regarding installation for everyone, rise when running as an administrator in Windows 7 that works much better, but the experience always depends on the program.  When you install some programs, you could get an installation option for 'just me' or 'all users '. But some setup routines give this possibility and just default to the current user (Chrome does this, or at least used to... but it does not require admin rights because it installed in the directory of the user instead of program files, which is great because it allows non-admins 'install').

Really because it boils down to only the software and how the installer has been setup, you're probably better to just do what you did in most of the cases. But her run as that is certainly more reliable these days.

  • IMAP proxy auth - logs as long as administrator if the user is absent

While the synchronization of the accounts from the old server to OCUCS with imapsync script, I found today that when using IMAP proxy auth (with installation of OUCS 7u2 "vanilla") and specifying a wrong user name (unknown to OCUCS), the absence of the user set IMAP server, but imapsync continues to account for the proxy-admin user Sync messages.

In my view, this means that the default of the proxy connection as user not valid succeeds always a proxy-user connection. (Or imapsync again this connection and that's the problem - I'll try this possibility of research too).

If the problem is known to be one of e-mail server, all toggle to disable these connections as the proxy user and return a failure (absence of user account, incompatibility of word password, whatever)?

When you say "proxy auth", you mean identifying you as the user admin and then using the "proxyauth' mail server owner command to switch to the other user?

For an example of the former, see MOS knowledge article Doc ID 1387203.1.
For an example of the latter, see MOS Doc ID 1012047.1.

If you do the first, it makes sense. You are logged on as an administrator and then tried proxyauth to another user, but it failed, so you're always connected as administrator.

If you do the latter, I expect this connection failure. So if this is the case, please open a case of pension so we can report a bug.

I'm looking for the right way to change some of the administrative accounts on macs, I support since administrative Standard.

Currently, there are data for users (images, music, etc.) in their accounts of the House.

Is it simply a matter of the past as long as administrator on a single account, by selecting the other account and by unchecking the box "allow user to administer this computer" or is it more than that, such as the creation of accounts entirely new?

It is also mainly a matter of 10.9, but I have a system running 10.10, which must also be addressed.

  • boyfriend died, was administrator... anyway to sign as admin... need to connect under his account, as admin, so that I can update

I am a limited, user laptop, not used since about 2 years... able to update firefox..., but windows, adobe, antivirus, etc. of other things, can't not because no admin... can't remember admin password, but need not if I can just connect as long as administrator to be able to continue to use this laptop and be able to update things... Please help... windows xp still have adobe 9 and no. auto updates available... when turned on was an old date system , got underway, through the bios, but I was able to update.

First of all, I'm sorry for your loss.

You can try to connect to the default Administrator via Safe Mode account. If the default Administrator account is password protected you will need to look elsewhere for advice. MS Answers prohibits the display of password cracking instructions. There are tons of instructions for this type problem which can be found by using Google search.  :-)

  • File ran and transfer settings Wizard Installation all users in Administrator account info

I did a Windows XP Pro 32-bit clean install on a laptop.  After I installed all the software and drivers on the machine, I ran the file and Assistant to bring users account on the machine to transfer the parameters.  The problem is that I stumbled accidentally while still connected as long as administrator, all the information of users installing to the default Administrator account.  Y at - it an easy way to remove the users from the administrator account info, or to delete the administrator account take it back to the installed version of basic?  Thanks in advance for your help.

Original title: using files and Settings Transfer Wizard. Oops

    Hello

I suspect that Naman R misinterpreted your post. My interpretation is that you have used the Wizard Windows XP file / transfer settings, no Windows Easy Transfer.

Assuming you still have available transfer fluid, which is a kind of external drive (USB, probably), there is no reason why you should transfer the settings again, but in the correct user profile.

With respect to the transfer in the account manager, all the parameters of implementation of changes should be reversible system restore (start - all programs-Accessories-System Tools System Restore). Data can only be deleted while signed in as an administrator. Do the system restore before doing the right files and transfer settings, otherwise it will also cancel these changes in settings that have been applied to the appropriate user profiles.

  • Cannot connect as an administrator

I forgot my user name and password to connect and have tried to open a session as long as administrator with the password but still no luck, I have created.  I tried safe mode and safe mode with networking mode, but it just lists all systems and allow me to do anything on this page.  It's an old Dimension C521 with XP home.

I guess that you reset the password in your BIOS, NOT password in Windows, there are two different passwords. But if you click Connect, and then suddenly logout could cause by malware, try to repair the Windows installation.

I had the same question and posted in this forum 4/17 in order to check the answer here.  Can't say it will solve all of your multiple problems, but you should get full administrator rights.

Re-start while pressing F8 repeatedly.  Select "Safe Mode with command prompt.  At the prompt, type net 'user administrator /access:yes' and press ENTER.  He should then confirm the success.

Restart and you should now see administrator as well as your own journal on.

Note: there is a space between the administrator and the slash.

  • I am logged on as administrator, but windows 7 always tell me that I have to you as an administrator

I try to install new software and I only have one user on this laptop and when I check the user account States that I am administrator but still always tells me to open a session as long as administrator, and then try again... Help, please

It may be that you must run the program itself, at a high level. Click with the right button on the setup of the program and in the context menu should be the run as Administrator option. Left click that and see if that fixes the problem.

Even if you are connected with an admin account Windows protects against certain types of changes. If the installer is written with the guidelines from Microsoft that it would allow the control of user account to present a dialog to confirm the operation however older programs do not have this feature and just do not work.
