  • Possible to download only the VMware Infrastructure Client?

I am a student, our University has a vmware server we can connect using what, in my view, is called the "VMware Infrastructure Client" of our school computer lab and I was told that you can also download the same client to connect from our own pc at home. (We use a VPN). I've been looking around this site, and no where do not see just a simple download for only Vmware Infrastructure Client, I think that's what I use to connect to the server, our school has running vmware. I tried a few free vmware download from this site, and they seem to be 600 MB + packages with many, many zipped files, not just a simple client that I'm looking for.

Can someone tell me if there is a way to download a customer of VMware infrastrue, UPS said, and if that sounds right, then I could use to connect to a server on a network running vmware.

Basically, I have the IP of our server of schools and a user name and password I use to connect to it, but I need to find and install the vmware client to connect to it.

Hello and welcome to the forums.

Use a web browser and open https://schools-vmware-server-ip and you should be able to download the client here.

    Good luck!

  • Connect to local USB via the vmware infrastructure client

    Hi all

Not sure if this is the right place for this question but I'll ask anyway.

I need to connect locally on a virtual machine with some it's available, but I don't know where to start.  I want to create a bootable USB for SCCM on a virtual computer image.  I'm still on VI 2.5 and I don't see an option where I can connect to a local USB to a virtual computer.  I don't see nor floppy and CD/DVD player.  Help, please.

    Thank you in advance.

It has not supported (USB) on vCenter 2.5 or vCenter 4.0. Please use USB ethernet device.

  • The VMware Infrastructure client error when connected to vcenter

Hi, I have a Vcenter 4 server that is installed on a windows 2003. When I go to the web page to download Vsphere client, this is excellent work.

But when I start the vsphere client and some plugins are able, when I leave the client got an access violation error

    http://communities.vmware.com/servlet/JiveServlet/downloadImage/7325/vmerror.JPG

If I disable all plugins, I didn't have this error. I try one by one but no matter the option activate plugins, if switch 1 is activated, this error occurs.

I have this error on the vcenter server directly and on my desktop when I leave the vsphere client.

Does anyone know why this error occurs when the plugins is enabled.

If I connect the client directly to an ESX Server, not on what the server vcenter, the error is displayed

    I thank.

  • not getting does not clone/update with VMware Infrastructure client option

Hi we have an esx3.5 with VIM 2.5

to authorize the server through a host file, that we had to create a virtual machine on the esx server and install VIM 2.5 above, pointing licensing to the ip address of this server. This vm is winXP so everything works fine.

When we try to connect to the ip address of the winVista esx server, we get a Manager, without options - clone/updates

Therefore, in order to make any kind of cloning or updates remotely of machines WinVista you must:

create a VPN connection on the site with the esx server,

Connect to the ip address of the esx server,

    Open the VMware Infrastructure client,

    opening of session

Open the console of the computer that has installed VIM 2.5

and perform a cloning from inside the virtual Windows XP machine

as you can see it's pretty heavy. is there another way?

    Thank you!

Because if I understand your message, you don't see the "Clone/Update" option in the menu when you connect thru customer VI ESX Server. Yes, this isn't. ESX does not provide the functionality without VirtualCenter. Then, must use VirtualCenter, address IP/Hostname in the VI Client to accomplished these tasks.

  • VMWare infrastructure Perl Toolkit Stable or not?

    Hello

I have a question on the VMWare infrastructure Perl Toolkit: is there a list of 100% stable perl scripts? Scripts can be used in a production environment?

Exactly, I want to know if the script svmotion is UN usable on the production environment.

    Best regards.

Yes the svmotion.pl is script VMware and it must benefit fully, you can always check with VMware if you have a support contract. You can also use a plugin VI Client unsupported, written by Andrew Kutz, many users have used it without too much hassle: http://vmblog.com/archive/2008/06/15/andrew-kutz-releases-1-0-version-of-vmware-svmotion-plug-in.aspx

  • Questions of VMware Infrastructure Client License

I have a few questions about lincesnese EXS3.5 and VMIC

I downloaded the vmware infrastructure client to manage it and gives me the following on the VirtualCenter server warning.

I see the following on top of VMIC software

    localhost.localdomain ESXserver3.5.0...: "assessment 5 days remaining.

Also, it appears an aboutVirtual Center Server warning

Is ESX3.5i my unregistered server or my client infrastructure?

I was under the impression that VMIC and ESX3.5i are free tools?

    Is it not the case?

Also, what is the relationship between the server, VirtualCenter and ESX3.5i and VMIC?

If someone can point to explanations on this, it will be a great help.

And don't somefeatures disappear after assessment?

    Thanks in advance

Your ESX3.5i server is not functional in eval mode. It is a free product, but you must obtain and enter a license key. You should have received this once you download the software from vmware.

I was under the impression that VMIC and ESX3.5i are free tools?

    They are both.

    Is it not the case?

Yes they are free, but you must enter the free license key that you received from vmware. It has been some time, I do not remember if I have received me by e-mail or on the download page.

Also, what is the relationship between the server, VirtualCenter and ESX3.5i and VMIC?

vCenter (VirtualCenter server) is the management server can manage multiple ESX/ESXi hosts at once. It also provides some additional features, such as vmotion, integration with active directory, etc. - it is not free

ESX3.5I is one of the hypervisor servers based that you run your virtual machines on - it's free, but you need to get your free license key.

VMIC is the client software that you use to connect to vCenter or ESX/ESXi host to manage your virtual environment, including the ESXi host. -free and can be downloaded for the guests, once installed ESX.

If someone can point to explanations on this, it will be a great help.

    Yes.

  • Alternative to VMware Infrastructure Web Access?

I had absolutely horrible experience, try using the VMware Infrastructure Web Access site to manage my VMware Server 2 (2.0.0 - 2.0.2), but I spare you the rant about the problems.  In short, I expect more distributed as alpha software.

Is there another program of VMware or someone else who will allow me to manage VMware Server and access the console of the virtual machine.  I liked the product for Server 1.x, but unfortunately, they removed support.

Yes, he must be the customer of ESX3.5.  Specifically Virtual Infrastructure Client 2.5.  I do not know which build ESX3.5 I got the customer, but it was there are a few updates.  So, you might try the extraction of the ESX3.5u1 or u2, if the current version of u5 does not work.

A major limitation with the VIClient is that it cannot completely handle material type 7 VMs.  (e.g.: Server2.)  You can start the virtual and other computers, but cannot change the settings of the virtual machine.  If the virtual machines are the older type 4 (e.g.: Server1) then you can make full use of the VIClient for everything.  However, the type 4 does not support USB2.  You don't have to have all your virtual machines as type 4.  My server has a mixture of types, but I have to remember which are of type 7 and use the web interface to modify the virtual machine settings.  But apart from that, I use the VIClient to display the console for all virtual machines.

If you can live with the older hardware type, the VIClient is absolutely the best way to manage the Server2.

  • Local host for VMware Infrastructure Client permissions

We normally use vcenter 2.5 and ESX 3.5. Our user permissions are set on vcenter, using Active Directory.

However when vcenter is out of service, we can connect locally to each esx host using the VMware Infrastructure client. Logging as root works very well. However, we have several local nonroot accounts defined on the ESX host.

How can we give users permission to open a session? We want to be administrators on the graphical interface, but does not give the root password.

As root, you will need to identify yourself with the VI Client and assign permissions to non-root users to access environment - but caution that you do not have the granularity of permissions, as you do with VC and if these hosts are managed by CR you do not want to make changes to them directly as this may affest DRS and HA-

  • VMWare Infrastructure Client Login - password

I have to connect to the VMWare Infrastructure Client by using domain administrator credentials.  Recently, I changed the password of admin area, but I can connect in CIV with the old and the new password?  Y at - it a cache of passwords somewhere that would need to be deleted?  The VIC is not integrated with Active Directory?

Do you chamge the local administrator on the VC server password? I think that's where it comes from.

  • Unknown to router in the Network Infrastructure

    Hello

There is a unknown router which is not mine not appearing in the Network Infrastructure.

I understand why it show up under available wireless networks. But not the network infrastructure.

I have not connected to it, is not my router, and it is not there. It is a little disconcerting, to say the least.

    Here is a screenshot:

    http://www.imagebam.com/image/2ed1ec73539535

Cisco Wireless VPN router - N is mine.

    WNR1000v2 isn't.

Is this a security risk? Why is this, and how do I get rid of him?

    Thank you.

(Essentially the same problem as this):

    http://social.answers.Microsoft.com/forums/en-us/w7network/thread/34a7d2d7-1498-43C9-ACEC-2bc8a7087613

OK so I would like to know what criteria determines why a router is listed in the network infrastructure... and how to get rid of him?

Why is windows 7 this? It makes no sense at all...

Can't really answer. I can only say that turning on the Details view for the page shows that the alien router isn't listed in my network location. A network infrastructure device is that in theory I 'could' connect to research a little further into the router configs (properties because it gives model, series No, MAC address and unique identifier #) indicates that the owner has set up to use WiFi Protected Setup to allow wireless devices to connect (requiring a fixed number of pine).  So, if I had the PIN to the router, I was able to connect to its network. Maybe that's why it appears. If your mystery router is configured in the same way, this could be a further indication as to why these routers being listed in the title of the Network Infrastructure while all other neighboring routers are not.

  • Rule gold for the resettlement of the VMWare Tools?

"The VMware Tools package includes a display driver that has been optimized for the guest operating system running in a virtual machine."

    KB http://bit.ly/bdXGhX

Is this compatible with the other components of tools? This makes me think that the only factors that affect installation tools are the guest operating system and the host operating system, but that doesn't seem fair to me.

I wonder what situations dictate that the tools be reinstalled on an existing virtual machine?  For example:

VM moves a version of workstation player, ESXi, to another (5 WS WS 6, ESX ESX 3.5 3.0). Some requiring the use of the converter except with worms backward compatibility.

VM moves product i.e. ESXi on workstation, the desktop player. I think that this is supported only through the help of converter, but sometimes operates independently.

VM moves from machine A to machine B / Server A, Server B both using the same product. (Share/copy a virtual machine)

Move VM includes change of machine and version.

Put VM at level in a newer version of the workstation.

    etc...

In my experience sometimes changes invites for a relocation/development tools while other times there are no complaints of the virtual machine. If the performance takes a hit seems to be hit or miss, and it reduces the field to tools is difficult because of the variety of hardware and software factors. The only advice that I seem to be able to find is "install VMWare Tools".

    Hello

Sorry did not read the article linked, but...

Is this compatible with the other components of tools? This makes me think that the only factors that affect installation tools are the guest operating system and the host operating system, but that doesn't seem fair to me.

No, it's not, the VMware product and version used also play an important role.

Rule of thumb here is that you want to keep the version of VMware Tools in sync. While their is certainly backwards compatibility, there is no guarantee that it will work well if not a match.

VM moves a version of workstation player, ESXi, to another (5 WS WS 6, ESX ESX 3.5 3.0). Some requiring the use of the converter except with worms backward compatibility.

If you move between the major releases of the product you want to reinstall VMware Toools

VM moves product i.e. ESXi on workstation, the desktop player. I think that this is supported only through the help of converter, but sometimes operates independently.

If you keep the main synchronized versions then it usually works very well. So you can move a machine virtual merger 3.0.x to workstation 7.0.x for Server 2.0.x (even to vSphere ESX) without reinstalling VMware Tools. With vSphere, this depends somewhat on the guest like e.g. vSphere can't stand aero, so you would have no problem to a VM Win7 native of vSphere Workstation, but a native Win7 VM from Workstation to vSphere his video card driver needs changed.

VM moves from machine A to machine B / Server A, Server B both using the same product. (Share/copy a virtual machine)

Normally, no relocation is necessary if the VMware product is at the same level of review.

Move VM includes change of machine and version.

    See previous answer

Put VM at level in a newer version of the workstation.

It depends on... most of the time a newer version of the product VMware also upgraded to a newer version of VMware Tools, but it is not completely 1 on 1.

    > The only advice that I seem to be able to find is "install VMWare Tools".

That's good advice, but it is not always necessary.

    Hope this helps,
