  • ASUS X551MA-dvd player does not work.

Hi, I just bought a new Asus X551MA laptop and everything works, except for the dvd player.

The disk is called: MATSHITA DVD-RAM UJ8E1.

I tried all kinds of loading disks, even safe mode hollow and they didn't work. It just continues to spin and can't seem to recognize the drive.

The only time the CD / dvd work when I use a program called "CDRoller"

After I open and close the program the drive suddenly the CD, whereas before you could not do.

I checked if the drivers are up to date and windows say they are.

So please can you help me, because I don't want to pay $39 in a program to open the CD/DVD (he has a 14 day trial that's why I'm able to use it now).

  • DVD/RW drive does not-Asus DRW - 2014L1T

Can think of me as an intermediate to advanced windows user, so don't be afraid to talk about the details.

I have no idea why the DVDRW stopped working. The only available drivers seem to be 2008, compatible with windows vista only.
For some reason windows is affecting my one CD-ROM/DVD-Rom device driver 2006, called 'DTSOFT VIrtual CdRom Device' and this seems to be the only one that it finds in the search and the only compatible.
Seems to be a thing of windows 8, has functioned well when I got windows 7. I'm under Win 8 Pro.

    Hello

Give it a try and see if it helps...

    1. run the command as administrator prompt. Place your pointer on the lower left and right when click 'Start' appears. It will be on the list that opens.

    2. type or copy / paste the following and press enter

    Reg.exe add "HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\atapi\Controller0" / f/v EnumDevice1 /t REG_DWORD /d 0x00000001

    3. Type Exit and press ENTER.

    4. restart the system.

  • Asus DVD drive does not

I know there have been quite a few posts on this topic in other forums as well as this one, but none of the proposed solutions have solved my problem.

I did a clean install of Windows 8 on my Intel SSD (c), I have a secondary 1 to (e) and an external USB 3.0 drive (f).  I normally have a D: drive to the DVD player.  I installed WIndows 8 via an installation DVD I created from the downloaded installer.  I was able to complete a clean install.

I used Windows 8 without any problem until I got a DVD with pictures (photos from my wedding!) in my computer. Then I realized that my D: drive was no longer there...  I rebooted thinking it was a fluke. I tried to use several other CD/DVD, but no matter what I did the DVD player was not appear.

First thing, I thought that if he did not have a drive letter assigned, then I went into computer management / disk management and the DVD Player did not show up.  I see in Device Manager: CD-ROM/DVD-ROM drives > ASUS DRW-24B1ST. It has a yellow! symbol on the disc.  I uninstalled the driver, rebooted, and he had the yellow!.

I went to ASUS website and tried to install the driver but received an error message that the device was not found.  So I tried manually updating the driver but get this message ' Windows found driver software for your device, but has encountered an error trying to install it. "  Windows cannot start this hardware device because its information of configuration (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19) »

I found a forum post referencing the registry providing this command "reg.exe add"HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\atapi\Controller0"/ f/v EnumDevice1 /t REG_DWORD /d 0x00000001" I ran this command as an administrator, restarted my computer, but still do not have a functional driver.

Anyone know how I can "adjust" the registry so that this DVD player will appear and be usable again?  I don't think there is an error with the drive itself since it was used to install windows 8 and has been very well supported.  I have to check that it is correctly connected to the motherboard as well.

    Thanks for all your help!

    FIXED!

I found the solution! So my post above will make me look like an idiot now, but the ASUS technical support has been incredible and provided a fix!  It 100% corrected my problem and my DVD drive appears in the workstation again.

Here are the instructions that they sent me.  I don't know if this is specific to the ASUS DRW-24B1ST drive, or if this will fix the problem with any DVD player.

Click on start--> run, type "regedit" and click OK
Expand the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE key (it looks like a folder) by double clicking it (or clicking on the '+' next to it.)
    Expand the SYSTEM key
    Expand the CurrentControlSet key
    Expand the control key
    Expand the class key

Most Dell products come with a restore partition, you should be able to access from F11, but if you have formatted the entire hard drive this partition will be gone.

  • Problem installing Windows 7: drivers needed

I try to perform a clean installation of Windows 7 on a 250 GB hard drive which is perfectly clean. Windows asks a driver for my ASUS DRW-2014L1T optical drive before it can proceed with the installation. The ASUS site offers only a few firmware for this model, and none of them are same for Windows 7 (vista is the more recent they are). In addition, the firmware are in .exe format which makes me think they are intended to be installed on a machine with Windows already installed. So, do you know of any ways to get around this problem? Is there generic drivers that I could install?

    Thanks for any help,

    Nate

    Hey Nate,

    ·         How many drivers DVD the computer have?

    ·         Is ASUS DRW-2014L1T internal or external drive?

If the computer has an another DVD player, I suggest to use the DVD player and try to install Windows 7.

  • ~ construction of $3,000 for PrPro (and PS/LR edition) - looking for feedback

Hi all! First time poster here.

It's finally time I put together a new video editing PC. my current is from early 2012, and it's definitely showing its age (cost about $1200 at the time). Here is the parts that I chose after extensive research, but I was expecting a feedback (or hopefully, confirmation) when it comes to a balanced system. I'll mainly be video from a C100 and 5 3 edition, so no 4 K (yet), but I want something that will last me a few years of publishing. My current level of use floats somewhere between hobby and side business, but I hope to edit more as time passes.

Project/media player will only be used at home for projects that are currently active. everything will be saved and archived on a device NAS Synology DS415 + connected to my network servant gigabit. I'm going to be creating that at the same time that this build; due to financial constraints, I will start with either one alone 4 TB WD drive red or two of them during a RAID in mirror, but hope to add more soon!

Thanks for the comments and especially by harm Millaard whose words of wisdom of storage I hope have interpreted correctly.

CPU cooler: take a look at the Noctua NH - D14, D15 - NH or Phanteks-PH-TC14PE

thermal paste: switch to something that is not conductive and does not have 200 hours to turn on completely.

There are a lot of compounds of coolermaster, artic and tuniq to name a few.

motherboard: asus or gigabyte, make sure it has the features you need.

storage: move to the PRO samsung series 850 or intel 730 480 GB. If planning on the Raid in the future to go with the intel 730 480 Go.

GPU: pass the 980 to the 970 gtx gtx. the price of the performance does not justify the gtx 980.

case: move to something with 140 mm fan options, like Fractal Design refine R5.

power supply: If do an overlock considers going to 1000 watts or more.

OS: windows 8 looks like a joke and was made for tablets or noobs in microsofts lyrics, it is better under the hood and its possible to use programs such as the classic interface or debut8 to make it look like win7.

  • How the hell is R100 supposed to boot from an external source?

    Hi guys

Please I need some wisdom... I'm trying to reinstall XP. However a member of the forum here named Meier has posted previously that the R100 bios does not support so I'm tryin to boot from USB CD, USB CD-rom boot. Is this TRUE?

Now, I don't have a USB FDD, just a combo of Asus USB CD player. Then how the hell am I supposed to reinstall windows? ! ? ! Any ideas?

    Hello

I'm afraid it's true, you will not be able to reload the OS or boot from a usb cdrom drive, since it is not supported by the bios, the only way to boot from a cd is to use a cdrom pcmcia (with a 16-bit connection).

    Sorry :(

    Hi djbillyd,

Thanks for letting me know that the printer installed correctly on other computers.

Follow this post from @SuperMario1 to remove the printer files from the registry.

It's a different model, but it provides instructions to dig dip into the registry and get all of the HP software from the system.

You can also run the Microsoft Fix it Tool to the problems that programs cannot be installed or uninstalled.

    Let me know the results.

An of my inquires in troubleshooting said something that Plug and play does not?  But no answer like that.

In fact, the cdrom.sys should be the 'original' driver and the PxHlpa64.sys, which is a third-party driver may be the problem.

To try to correct the problem, try following the steps under "Windows 7 or Windows Vista" or "Windows XP", if you use XP, in the MS KB article:

These measures, to remove the UpperFilters and LowerFilters, values if they exist, in the registry key named can help.

Create a System Restore Point beforehand and restart the computer later.

  • Reader of CD-R/DVD-ROM (IDE) of K LITE-ON COMBO SOHC 4836 opens not (mechanical)

I can't use the original CD-R/DVD-ROM drive, because he that is no longer open tray drawer. It's a mechanical problem, I've tried several times unsuccessfully to fixation. It's my only optical drive, and I can't find an IDE drive to replace, because everything I've found so far is SATA not IDE ATA.

My computer recognizes the drive, but this isn't a software problem, so it can't be fixed with troubleshooting app.

I went to NewEgg and an engraver of CD/DVD ASUS DRW-241st/BLK/DOWN black SATA 24 X bought last week. It happened a few days ago, and I tried to install it, but he found the new driver has no receiver necessary required power (a cable IDE socket receiver) plug at the rear of the unit. I had to request a RMA from NewEgg number for refund.

What should I do? I need a CD/DVD drive of work!

My PC is a 2006 Compaq Presario desktop SR 1930 t CTO, with Windows XP (home edition) operating system.

Last year I replaced the original with a 480W 300W PSU (has supposedly 'support SATA', but I don't know what that means). I know there is only a single receiver plug on the ASUS drive, and several card receivers on my drive LITE-ON.

    Help, please!

My bad.  I didn't notice that I've linked drive was just a ROM.

This small converter looks interesting.  I had not seen this before.  It should work OK if you have peripheral space being tacked on to the back of the drive.  Well done.

I have two ASUS DRW-22B1LT drives. One of them has stoped working. I can see them both in Windows Explorer and I see in Device Manager. One of the two works normally, but it won't read or recognize CDs or DVDs or with data. I did all of the normal stuff, checked the cable. reinstalled the driver etc.

My Windows 7 64-bit is used to burn CDs and DVDs fine, but has developed a problem burning CD, DVD and Blu - ray using the software's built-in windows.  Both drives burn perfectly well using third-party software 3rd IMGburn, that leads me to conclude that this is a specific Windows problem.
