Is Oracle client process bind / even with a DB process or sqlplus?

Sorry to ask such a simple thing, but I got confused.

I can't find the customer Oracle on Oracle 11.1 g 32-bit process.

Its oracle32.exe sed, but which is related to each DB created running the service.
Yet, even if I close all DB Services, listener, recovery therefore have not Service Oracle or Procces on my host.
I can still connect to the DB SQL Plus or another host system or my API. But I have no process running at all on my host Oracle!

This gives a hypothesis that is
1. the customer Oracle process is a hidden somesort process
2. the process of customer Oracle turned along the SQLplus (I start it Directory Client form)
3 SQLPlus using another host Client to connect to the database (cannot be since I use my customers tsnames.ora netservice name I put)

In fact, what is true?

I connect to another host with
sqlpus system @ < service_name on client tsnames.ora of my host >

This gives a hypothesis that is
1. the customer Oracle process is a hidden somesort process
2. the process of customer Oracle turned along the SQLplus (I start it Directory Client form)

SQLPLUS itself is the customer to connect to Oracle databases.

>

3 SQLPlus using another host Client to connect to the database (cannot be since I use my customers tsnames.ora netservice name I put)

SQLPLUS uses the tnsnames.ora file under % ORACLE_HOME%/network/admin, on the same server, it is installed, to solve the TNS alias provided on the command line

It is because even if you stop all the Oracle server database treats (oracle.exe, lisntener services, etc.) on your server, you can still use your client (sqlplus) to conncet to the servers running on other machines using the AMT.

hope that helps, really :)

  • create the database with Oracle Client link

    Hello together,

on my machine Windows 7 with Oracle Client installed 12.0.1.0, I'm trying to create a database link to a database server, which runs on Oracle Standard Edition1 11.2.0.2.

When I connect to sqlplus on the client with "sqlplus/nolog" and type the command:

SQL > create SID of the database link

connect to the user identified by passwd

    using "tnsnames.ora connection."

I have a SP2-0640: not connected. OK, it is clear, because I use sqlplus with option/nolog. But client-side normally I have no database, where I can connect. So I think, there is no user, or?

The database to which I want to connect is located in tnsnames.ora.

Generally: Is it possible to use the Oracle Client to create a database link? Maybe there's another way to do this?

A big thank you and best regards,

    David

You don't seem to understand the concept of a database link.

A database link connects two databases. Not a client and a database.

You need to link up in a data source to a target database.

The only thing you need is a client of sqlplus in sqlplus client, you need to connect to the source database.

If you can't connect to the source database, you must present the statement to someone.

  • the provider is not compatible with the version of the oracle client

    Hello

I have the Oracle 10 g database in my production server *(windows 2000 server SP4) * and I use ODAC 11 g (11.1.0.6.21) for the connection of the .net code database.

During execution of the code, I get the following error: the vendor is not compatible with the version of the Oracle client.

But the same code works file in my system *(windows xp SP2) dev *.

    Any help is appreciated.

    Thank you!

    Hello

    Thanks for the information.

One point that we have several versions of Oracle on the prod server. This can be a reason?

Yes, if an older version of the client is first in the system path. Can you verify the system path and confirm if an older version of the client is in the path before the 11.1.0.6 version?

    Thank you

  • Install Oracle 64-BIT ODBC connection with vCenter 5.0 question

I'm running W2K8R2 64 bit and I am trying to connect to an ORACLE DB so I can install vCenter 5.0. I had the Oracle DBA create the DB, then I went into my ODBC on my server vCenter. I tried to create a system DSN and noticed that it there was only the SQL client. No problem, I went ahead and installed the 32 bit ODBC Oracle client\driver.     I went back, but he has not yet shown, after more research, I LEARNED that I had to go to C:\WINDOWS\SYSWOW64 and appear ODBC32. EXE that I did and I was able to connect to the DBs and see my TNS name and test connections with success. I then in vCenter 5.0 installation, but when I got the option to choose between SQL Express and the DSN names, I couldn't see my DB in the fall down... What don't get me?  I'm using using SQL, but the process is OK except that I do not see the DBs when the installation menu of vCenter dropdown, even though I was able to connect successfully to them through ODBC. ??

In order to get listed in vCenter Server Setup, you must have created a 64-bit DSN, which requires a 64-bit Oracle Client. You can try to create a 64-bit DSN after you install the full client for 64 bit / instant client

Background: I am setting up a pavilion of 500-164 equipped with OEM specs, specifically:

    -AMD/Radeon APU

    -Windows 8 6.2.9200

-See sysinfo below for more details

The PC brought to the specifications of the plant, with all Windows updates applied with the exception of KB2887069, which breaks down at the update.  With the exception of troubleshooting the failure of the update, none of the changes have been made.  The Windows KB2887069 update fails to install as well through the automated process when tried manually via a direct download.

Additional troubleshooting measures to date include:

-Uninstall the software OEM AV (Norton), then by restarting.

-Temporarily disable all the features of Windows Defender.

-Temporarily uninstall the audio driver (IDT High Definition Audio CODEC) OEM.

-Realization of an analysis of the SFC system (with no error found).

I find it peculiar that you just bought a HP computer brand new, still-in-the-box, which came with Windows 8, not 8.1, preinstalled Windows. That said, cross your fingers, roll up your sleeves and try the fix following multiple step, I cooked up just for your computer...

    ACTIONS

[You may want to print these instructions for reference offline.  IMPORTANT => NO SKIP & perform all steps in one uninterrupted session!  [If a step said to restart, restart! ]

1 right-click on the link, select SAVE TARGET as.... & download the Norton Removal Tool, save it to your desktop: ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/english_us_canada/removal_tools/Norton_Removal_Tool.exe

    2. close all open applications (that is, anything with an icon on the taskbar).

    3. right click on the file that you saved in step #1 above and select run as administrator to run the Norton utility. DO TAP not your keyboard until the race ends, then restart.

    4. right-click on the following link and save the download to your desktop: ie8 - rereg.all.zip [1]

4B. right click on the file that you saved in # 4 has & select EXTRACT ALL. This will create a new folder in Office also appointed ie8 - rereg.all. The folder contains both scripts below (plus a third that will NOT be).

    Note-online scripts are good for IE9, IE10 & IE11, too,

    5. close all open applications (that is, anything with an icon on the task bar), open the folder created in step # 4 b above & double-click on the file named ie8 - rereg.32on64.cmd to run the script.

5 b. Repeat this for the file named ie8 - rereg.64on64.cmd then restart.

    6. reset Internet Explorer by the MANUAL of instructions on this page-online http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923737

Note => for best results, check the option Remove personal settings .

7 run the Windows Update Troubleshooter from start to finish by the first paragraph on this page-online http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/troubleshoot-problems-installing-updates [2]

    8. restart once more then test by launching a manual check of updates & see if KB2887069 any/all others updated and allows to install now. Follow all the instructions.

    9. assuming all went well, see if Windows 8.1 is available through the store Windows and, if so, if it will be properly installed. Still, follow all the instructions.

  • What's new in Win8.1?
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-8/whats-new
  • 10. assuming that Win8.1 is now installed, perform another manual check for updates & install all Security updates offered (if any); Follow all the instructions.

    11. in response to this post with a status report. Also confirm (hopefully) that Windows 8.1 has been installed successfully.

    Good luck!

  • Update of CRMI against COE Oracle 10 G server fails with the error message Invalid Date of creation

I have an application that performs an update of a piece of content via CRMI. The element is specified viaA content ID. Since UPDATE_DOCINFO is the service DOC_INFO needs service is executed first to get it.

DOC_INFO returns information very well. However, when UPDATE_DOCINFO is executed, it always seems to return an error message stating that creation Date is not valid. The element content updates without this error via the Native Web INTERFACE. My code works when pointed at an Oracle 11 G Server COE.

    I tried:

    1. Adding did so to a new DataBinder, without dCreateDate
    2. Adding did so to a new DataBinder, with dCreateDate

        • manual conversion with DataObjectEncodingUtils.decodeDate() (w / get() )

    throw RuntimeException (ice.getMessage () new, ice);

            }

    //something gone wrong

    //return null;

    }

    I could solve the problem.

The answer is proven be setting the parameter UserDateFormat on the RIDC Binder that I used to make the update request.

Then I got just to make sure that all of my dates been serialized using this same format.

  • Check if the Oracle Client is 64-bit Mode

    Hello

    I have a bit of Windows Server 2008 x 64 with Reporting Services x 64 bit.

I have a relationship with oracle connection. First, I installed 10203_vista_w2k8_x86_production_client.zip (http://download.oracle.com/otn/nt/oracle10g/10203/10203_vista_w2k8_x86_production_client.zip), but in Reporting Services, I get the following error: "trying to load the Oracle client libraries threw BadImageFormatException. This problem occurs when you run with the 32-bit Oracle components customer installed 64 bit mode"

Then I installed 10204_vista_w2k8_x64_production_client.zip (http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/database/oracle10g/htdocs/10203vista.html), but I have the same problem.

How to check if Oracle Client runs in bits of x 64 or x 86?

    Saludos,

It is not a 32-bit or 64-bit 'mode', you have the client client software or 64 bit 32 bit.

The first thing to do is to check the process in the Task Manager to confirm if it is 32-bit or 64-bit (32-bit to a * 32 next to the process name).

Regarding the inspection of a facility of the customer trying to tell if it's 32-bit or 64-bit, I don't know one other surefire way knowing what you have installed. You can consult the register, a 32-bit home will be located in HKLM > software > WOW6432Node > Oracle, considering that a 64-bit home will be in HKLM > software > Oracle and then you can check the path to the House to try to deduce if it is 32 bit or 64 bit depending on the location of the dll.

If you have 32-bit and 64-bit client installed, I don't have a good top of my head that may cause for why you will get this error. The OS does a good job of loading the 32-bit dll for 32-bit processes and 64 for 64.

Are two homes in your PATH environment variable? Did you restart the application or restart after the addition of a new home?

You can use tools such as Process Explorer or Process Monitor to see what dlls are loaded (or attempted to be loaded).

    It will be useful,
    Greg

  • My laptop volume is very low, even with the maximum setting. It also has a very annoying echo

I tried every setting available on this laptop, go all together if not try several changes in all settings. The volume is still low and has a very annoying reverberation and echo effect, even with these settings turned off. I got it for a week, and I was very happy with any other accept the audio. The reasons for buying this model were media processing and so far I have and become more disgusted daily with her. It is a Pavilion dv6 and it has beat audio software. If anyone has a solution, it would be much appreciated.

    Hello

One thing that can help is the following.  Do a right-click the speaker icon in the taskbar and select "playback devices".  Left click the device once to highlight default (it is usually 'speakers and headphones') and then click the properties button.  Click the enhancements tab and put a check mark in the box "Loudness equalization.  Click on apply to save the changes and then click OK in all other windows and see if allowed at all.

    Kind regards

  • All files generated by a coil in sqlplus receive ownership of oracle: dba instead of the user of the BONE started sqlplus and run the script. There's a file with users owners of BONES of the coil.

All files generated by a coil in sqlplus receive ownership of oracle: dba instead of the user of the BONE started sqlplus and run the script. There's a file with users owners of BONES of the coil.

Script launched in until OS user 'A' on the 'A' server which launches sqlplus, then connects to a remote database through a service of tnsnames.ora as another user of the database and the results of this script are spoulées on the server "A".

The file queued on the old server is written with rw-rw-r: read write user, group read the writing, reading and possession header that is the user of the OS. The file queued on the new server is written to rw-r-r user: reading writing, reading group, public reading and ownership oracle: dba.

"" The user then has no privileges to modify the file and continue the process of transmitting the file, editing and deleting the file for the next set of commands. This allows us to keep the possibility to migrate to the new server we are unable to process orders.

    $ORACLE_HOME/bin/sqlplus - s user/password@prd1 @./script/CustomScript/R12_OM_UFPC-oracle.sql

Background: old server running 4.8, Oracle 10.2.0.4 OEL

New server running OEL 6.5, Oracle 11.2.0.4

    Tested so far:

File and update umask to 0002 instead of 0022 is now generated as rw-r-r. However, the property is still oracle: dba.

Update of ownershipt of $ORACLE_HOME/bin/oracle.exe of oracle: oracle (edi added the user to the oracle group) and chmod 6751 oracle.exe. This created several problems where crucial scripts, that is to say of sqlplus failed to run.

Added! chmod 755 output.file.name - OS user 'A' is not allowed to change to mod.

Added! command cp MV output file and that generated the file as a user of the operating system: oracle. It is a potential work around in case of emergency, but the developer would have to rewrite the countless scripts.

    Any ideas?

I have reproduced the behavior of the old server and am able to spool a file via sqlplus under OS user. No changes have been made on the remote database server. All the changes have been on the new server hosting a small 11.2.0.4 database on a server running OEL 6.5 32 - bit OS.

    (1) removed the sticky bit $ORACLE_HOME/bin/sqlplus using chmod u-s, g-s, o - s suggestion of Billy ~ Verreynne

    (2) modified the main group for the 'oracle' user match the user operating system applications, while maintaining membership in the groups 'oracle' and 'dba '.

-We are dealing with here EDI processes, so the Group was called edi.

    (3) modified property of the files tnsnames.ora and listener.ora for oracle: edi

    (4) restart the receiver

    (5) disconnect / reconnect

Script runs as expected, the output file contains the correct ownership and permissions.

Thank you all for taking a look and offering options.

  • Reg: Preloading in the Oracle client.

    Hi Experts,

What exactly is the concept behind the 'prefetch' in the Oracle client.

My understanding - is the number of records retrieves customer data base and throws it to the user.

Read a few posts on AskTom

    1. https://asktom.oracle.com/pls/asktom/f?p=100:11:0:P11_QUESTION_ID:6840389700346552727

    2. https://asktom.oracle.com/pls/apex/f?p=100:11:0:P11_QUESTION_ID:429660240587

But still I got some doubts-

    1. you want to understand the concept in detail as network round trips, data packets, etc.

    2. a scenraio - say my query will generate 158 K records, and I put my line Prefetch = 3500 to my client. It will be really beneficial? The customer while recovery displays the current state as "go get... records of 2002...". 3003, 4004... etc.

Why get it 1,000 records, while I put the 3500.

    Please notify.

    Thank you and best regards,

    -Nordine

(on Oracle 11.2.0.3.0 / SQL client Tools)

Imagine the most stupid possible implementation (in a perspective of network traffic)

The client sends a request to the database (1 trip)

The client then requests the first line

Oracle executes the request well enough to find the first line, which returns to the client (1 trip)

The client then requests the following line

Oracle executes the request well enough to find the first line, which returns to the client (1 trip)

    ---

Repeat 158 000 times, until the last line is read

As a round trip network is, in the best cases, the order of 10 milliseconds, it would mean that 158 000 back and forth network would consume seconds 1580 or about 26 minutes just networking air before adding in time for Oracle to generate results or the customer to do something with the results.

Table extraction generally reduced this problem by allowing the client to fetch more than 1 row with each round trip.  If you pick 100 lines at once, you have need of round-trips of 1580, which would take 15.8 seconds in our environment of hypothetical return of 10ms.  If you get 1000 rows at a time, you have 158 network trips that would take 1.58 seconds.  But, of course, is not really as simple as that.  Network packets are not arbitrarily size so the lines you are great and go look for these lines, the packages more you exchange which makes extraction individual times more.  This means that network fetch load reduction is almost certainly less linear on a reasonable range of fetch sizes - maybe the example of 100 line passes 30 seconds on fetch of network load and the sample line of 1000 passes 10 seconds.  As with anything, you want to compare in your environment with your data to see where your application gets the best performance.

As for what the customer is displayed, it is a question for the customer.  I guess the customer is written to view independent progress of the fetch size.

  • Oracle.ManagedDataAccess.Client no Oracle client deployment

    Hello

We are trying to deploy our application on a server that has no Oracle client installed. We use the managed dll dataAccess with entity framework 5. Our web.config file contains the following:

    < connectionStrings >

    < add name = "CroEntities" connection string connectionString="metadata=res://*/CroModel.csdl|res://*/CroModel.ssdl|res://*/CroModel.msl;provider=Oracle.ManagedDataAccess.Client;provider = & quot; DATA SOURCE =oracle; PASSWORD = password; PERSIST SECURITY INFO = True; USER ID = user & quot; "" ProviderName "/ >

    < / connectionStrings >

    < Oracle.ManagedDataAccess.Client >

    < version number = "4.121.1.0" >

    < dataSources >

    "" < alias dataSource = "oracle"descriptor ="(DESCRIPTION = (ADDRESS_LIST = (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = myhost.bc.ca) (PORT = 1521))) (CONNECT_DATA = (SERVICE_NAME = serviceName.bc.ca)))" / >

    < / dataSources >

    < / version >

    < /Oracle.ManagedDataAccess.Client >

Oracle.ManagedDataAccess.dll is in our Bin folder.

At run time, we get the following error: ORA-12541: TNS: no listener.

The earpiece works very well. My thought is that something is missing in our configuration. When we add some debug information for the value of context. Database.Connection.Database we get empty string that make me think that the information in the configuration file does not in the run-time application.

Any thought on what might be missed?

    Thank you

    Ken

The XML tag should be . All lowercase. In your configuration file, you pulled profit some letters in the tag. It's probably why ODP.NET can't read XML.

  • Any idea about this problem on installing the Oracle Client

    Hello

Client computer: Dell notebook, i5, Win 7 SP1 Enterprise 64-bit (8 GB of RAM)

I am trying to install the oracle 11.2.0.3 client 64-bit on this machine, but facing problems. After I'm done specifying ORACLE_BASE and selection of the language and 'Administrative' selected option instead of 'instant customer' or 'Runtime', by clicking on the next button, progress bar is displayed and the time it's done with audit requirements that disappears from the screen moving in together. I ran the installer with the option "Run as Administrator" too and tried to use 11.2.0.2 setup, but in vain.

Quick question... I have a CSI valid, if I get a ticket with Oracle, they would help me on problem installing client that I am facing. In the past I was able to install the client on this machine, I am just clueless despite that I looked at the log generated by the Setup program file.

Unfortunately, there are administrators in Windows, then there are administrators.  Apparently not all administrators are created equal.  Don't ask me to explain, I do not understand myself, I just know that this is a truth.  Still a reason more I learned to avoid Windows I get chances.

  • Doubt w.r.t. the Oracle client installation

    Hello

We will install oracle client. We use oracle net services to configure essbase with the help of oracle, which is installed in the other database server. That is why we are installing oracle client.

Now my question is during the installation exactly customized including all the checkboxes should I check. There are a lot of items displayed in the installation window. I want to know what should I check to install only oracle net services.

    Help, please.

Go to the Administration of Oracle Client installation. Then copy the TNS server entry and paste it to the customer.

Start access, the database of the customer.

    Kind regards
