Is satellite U840t-103 - possible to downgrade to Win7?

Hello

does anyone know if it is possible to downgrade to win 8.1 for win 7 on my Satellite U840t-103?
Need to use internet explorer 8...
I'm a little worried that he will be absent drivers.

Tobias cordially

Hello

I checked the download page of Toshiba on http://www.toshiba.eu/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp and there is no support for Win7.

In General, Win7 installation should be possible, but if you find no drivers, tols and utilities it has no sense for me to do.

By the way: don't forget to create a recovery (DVD or USB) media.

    Hi, I have a Satellite, U840t-103.

The touch screen has stopped working earlier.
    I don't know why.

I think I have been juggling the project button, but I still can't get it to work again.

    Help, please.

    Hello

Touch screen don't need any special driver of Toshiba.
The driver is already part of Windows 8 / 8.1
That is why I don't think there is a software problem, but of course, I would recommend you to retrieve the computer laptop back to factory settings using the Toshiba recovery disc just to check if this procedure would allow the touchscreen feature once more.

This is a first common procedure in case something bad would happen to the laptop or the system.

But if the system recovery doesn't help, the laptop must be verified by the service provider allowed for possible hardware malfunction. But let's hope, the recovery procedure would solve your problem.

The laptop has always he has touchscreen, it just doesn't work!

    Any ideas?

    Thank you

    Hello

Go to the control panel (Windows key + X-> Control Panel)-> Tablet PC setting.
The first display tab contains options such as configure screen stylus and touchscreen.
Here, you should be able to start the installation program and identify the touchscreen.
The first option must contain 1 internal LCD
At the bottom, you might find button to calibrate and reset the settings for the internal LCD.

If this does not work, the problem might be related to a hardware malfunction.
In this case, only a technician would be able to help you.

Is it possible to downgrade a Toshiba Satellite U300 from Vista to XP?
No matter what guide available on how do?

I tried to install with a standard XP installation disc, he couldn't even find the drive and refused to start the installation.

I recently bought this laptop with Vista and was really looking for an XP model avoid all the problems of Vista, but it turns out its almost impossible to find one - have all of Vista.

I am disgusted with all computer laptop-manufacturers, who are now offering an OS that is not yet ready for the general public, the guard you kicked in the teeth
and waste your time as m and d, try to find solutions and work around the problems most ridiculous & pointless.

Virtual PC XP Vista initially seemed to solve a lot of problems, but after a few days, unfortunately, the performance of the virtual machine has deteriorated seriously, I don't know why.

OK - still happy if someone here can answer the original questions?

Of course, you can install WXP on U300 and you can do this by using the facilities of Microsoft CD. Is very important to have the Storage Manager. This utility is needed to proceedings WXP facilities for the recognition of the HARD drive. You can save it on the floppy drive and import it using the F6 key at startup of installations of Windows XP Home edition.

Visit the Toshiba support under http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com page > support & downloads. There you can find all the drivers of Windows XP Home for U300. at the first checkpoint Installations Instructions document and use this list for installing drivers, tools and utilities. Follow the exact order of installations.

    Bye and good luck!

  • How to change the Satellite L670D-103 using new SSD 80 GB HARD drive?

    Hello

I have a Satellite L670D-103 with a 320 GB HARD drive running at 5400 RPM which is too slow for me.

So I plan to change this factory by a new SSD HDD to increase the performance of the overall system :)

But as the SSD are expensive, I have only a 80 GB SSD.

I built the recovery on a USB media and I want to use it to restore my system to the new SSD (I previously did the space needed to ensure that all data can be stored on my new SSD 80 GB space; p)

Retrieving SSD partitioning new procedure is done without error, but when copying image to restore data to freshly created the partition, one not enough space error stop the process!

It seems that the recovery procedure is possible on a hard drive that is equal or superior to the original size of the disk (320 gb).

So, how can I restore mysystem on my new SSD?

    Thank you
    Stéphane.

    > It seems that the recovery procedure is possible on a hard drive that is equal or superior to the original size of the disk (320 gb)

To my knowledge, you have different recovery options:

(* 1) * recovery of factory default software

    (a) recovery to out of box state
    (b) recovery without changing the HARD drive partitions
    (c) recovery of a custom size partition

    (* 2) * "erase the HARD drive.

I think that if you choose factory default software recovery of-> recovery to out of box state then the recovery would create exactly the same size of partition on the new SSD which were available on the 320 GB HARD drive.
I think this might be the reason why you have received this message.

Perhaps you need to choose the 3rd option Recovery on a custom size partition

    What do you think?

  • Memory maximum satellite 1400-103?

    According
    [Satellite 1400-103 specifications: OD = 1 http://be.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/jsp/SUPPORTSECTION/discontinuedProductPage.do?PRODUCT_ID=18117&DISC_M & LNG = 10 & service = BE]

Satellite 1400-103 has a maximum 1024 MB memory (2 slots of 512 MB)
512 MB is the maximum memory, which you can buy online for this laptop.

But when I click on 'options' of this laptop,
I see a memory card of 1 GB is available

    So the question is:
Is it possible to fill these 2 housing with 2 x 1 GB?
    Where do I go for a maximum of 2 x 512MB?

    Thanks in advance

I doubt that 2 x 1 GB is possible in this notebook, and as far as I know the maximum RAM capacity is 1 GB.

The best is improve you it 1 GB max. with 2 x 512 MB.
    The specifications are SDRAM PC133 and the reference is PA3108U - 1 M 51.

  • Satellite A210 - 103 Win XP installation issues

    Hello

I have read some threads in this forum, but I have a few questions:

    (a) I want to shrink the Vista partition to a XP partition with Vista tool, but how do I get two 'C' managed partitions the Vista partition can not see the XP partition and the partition XP cannot see the Vista partition

    (b) I have read that this laptop has an Intel 965 chipset which is a surprise for me because the laptop has an AMD processor

    (c) when the laptop has an Intel 965 chipset I need a version of driver Intel Matrix Storage Manager 7.0.0.1020 and a USB floppy drive

    (d) I found a lot of drivers on the download site for XP Toshiba but I was surprised to read in the information about the update of the bios that the bios is compatible for laptops with Windows Vista! :
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_bios.jsp?service=EU

So I'm not shure I can install Windows XP on the laptop.

    Hello

    (1) you can hide the partition remove the letter from readers. This is possible in disk management.
I have two OS on my laptop and I was able to hide the Vista partition in Windows XP. I've simply removed the letter of the partition of the panoramas.
But I was not able to hide the XP on Vista OS partition. Vista said that it is not possible anyway

    2) there are different A210 laptop and some come with Intel processors and supports Intel chipset and some A210 are fitted with a MPA CPU and supports the AMD M690V chipset. Laptop Satellite A210-103 doesn t supports the Intel 965 chipset. It supports AMD M690V.

    (3) you need SATA driver manager storage a: If you want to install the XP.
But I ve got a laptop with AMD and AMD M690V chipset CPU and installed my XP without the driver SATA.
That's what I can say about it

    (4) the BIOS is configured for the Windows Vista operating system, but this does not mean that you didn't be able to install XP.
I installed XP on a Vista laptop and it works ok.

  • Satellite U940-103 with Linux - Touchpad does not & poorly programmed FN keys

    Hello

I bought a toshiba Satellite U940-103, and I installed ubuntu 13,10 dual boot with windows 8.1.

The problem is that the touchpad is not working and the fn are false (fn f2 key suspend the computer instead of the brightness control).

I tried to install linux different sistem (Mint cinnamon 15, 13.04 ubuntu, ubuntu 12.04.3) but they still have the same problem, even in the live cd.

I tried to ask the Italian Forum of ubuntu, but they have solutions do not work...

    Thanks for the help

    * PS.* sorry for my bad English. Is it normal that my laptop seems overheated and my battery life seems to be reduced when I use Linux?

    Hello

    Yes, you're right!
In the direct (stable mode without having to install), the touchpad does not work.

However, once installed, it will work.

In regards to shortcut keys, yes they are mapped correctly.
They are treated to the old-fashioned way (former Toshiba models had the mapping used by Linux on this model).
If you want help, file a bug report on bugs to Ubuntu system.

You can always change the brightness by using the GUI (Control Panel > brightness & Lock).

Fun with Ubuntu on your device!

  • Satellite P755-103 - cannot install the package of added value

    Hello

I recently bought a Satellite P755-103. In order to maintain the updated drivers, I downloaded Toshiba Value Package added to the downloads section of the page Web of Toshiba. (2 times, I'm sure that the driver is for my 64-bit version of Windows 7).
When I tried to install it, I got the repair and the options remove. Repair gave me this error: RegDBGetItem failed (1). So I removed completely the driver so that I can install it again. During the installation of the driver that I got the same error, so I couldn't install it, so now I'm unable to activate the shortcut keys PVAT gives me access.

If anyone knows something that might help with this problem please say something, it would be very apreciated.
    Sorry for my English.

    Thank you

    Hello

Value added package is still listed in the list of Windows software? If so, I would recommend removing it. Then restart your computer and try to reinstall the VAP.

If it doesn t work I would try CCleaner. That is a nice freeware tool to clean the registry. You can find the tool using Google. Just run the registry cleaner and then you should be able to install VAP.

Generally speaking, it s is not necessary to update the drivers if everything is ok. If you n t have any problems you can forget about these updates. ;)

  • Crazy touchscreen on my Satellite U840T-102

    Hello

I bought a Toshiba Satellite U840T-102 in March and for a few weeks sometimes the touch screen go crazy, as if I touch randomly, but I'm not in touch with her. If I restart the laptop, the problem seems to disappear for a little while, but then no reason he again. I don't know what kind of problem is (is a problem of operating system or laptop?) and what to do!

    Please help me!

There is a simple way to check if this problem in the system.
You could retrieve the laptop to factory state using the HDD recovery procedure or the recovery media.
Then, you will get the same State as on the first day of purchase and from my point of few you need to test the functionality of the touch screen once the laptop has been set for this State.
