Is there a successor to the BlackBerry Java platform?

Hello.

It's been a while since RIM announced that API Java only be supported in BB10. Since then, they have released software development kits for:

  • SDK native (C/C++) and waterfalls (C + c++ / Qt)
  • HTML5 Webworks
  • Adobe AIR
  • Runtime Android

So, what would be the most similar to the current Java API platform for BB10? I think about things like:

  • Camera
  • NFC
  • Bluetooth
  • SQLite
  • A GUI Framework (screens, components, etc.)
  • Autorun at startup, background applications feature
  • GPS (listeners, geofencing)

Thanks in advance.

RIM seems focused on the main platform being the NDK + waterfalls.

Adobe Air seems to be the red headed daughter-in-law who is left behind.

Android is the popular kid they keep around to look at more cost.

WebWorks seems to be more than a side project.

So yes, go with the NDK.

  • touchevent is getrated every time I click on the screen of the blackberry java

    Hello friends,

    I am from the substitution of toucheven like this:

    Ematics bitmap = Bitmap.getBitmapResource ("onlbswth. PNG');

    Break of bitmap = Bitmap.getBitmapResource ("offldswtch. PNG');

    BitmapField switchOffField = BitmapField (switchOff) new

    is there anything to add to this

    Here's some code I've used processes click on events.  It will be useful.

    int x = message.getX (1);
    int y = message.getY (1);
    If (x < 0="" ||="" y=""> < 0="" ||="" x=""> getExtent () .width: y > getExtent () .height) {}

    Switch (message.getEvent ()) {}

  • Are blackBerry smartphones there plug-ins for the Blackberry browser?

    I think that the browser would be a bit faster if the ads could be blocked, as in Mozilla products. Also scripts.

    Is it available among the applications?

    Thank you.

    Don.

    You can disable the script in the options of the browser, but you can not block ads.

    You must specify the API you need and see if they exist.
    In the interface user is, for applications, it is slower than native.
    Ads and analytical is not yet supported.

    So, it really depends on what you need to provide.

  • Interaction with the BlackBerry via USB

    This may be the wrong forum for this question, and if so, please point me to one that is more appropriate, because it doesn't seem to be a forum of developers on this segment of use cases.

    Is there a material that interacts with the BlackBerry through the USB connection?  The BlackBerry Desktop Manager can make quite a range of things with the BlackBerry via a USB connection.  None of this is publicly available or documented?  If this isn't the case, it is fine, please tell me if I can stop looking in vain for him.

    There was an example of code, packed with JDE 4.1, I think, who communicates with the BlackBerry via USB using BBDevMgr as a resource com  There is a lack of documentation of this interface and its capabilities and limitations.  It is still supported?  If so, where can I find the documentation for it?

    Thank you for your time.

    It is still supported.  You can find the documentation in the "use USB or serial port connections" section of the BlackBerry Java development environment development Guide found here:

  • Add a keyListener to the BlackBerry e-mail client

    Hello

    I'm new to the BlackBerry Java development and found this forum really useful. The problem I am trying to solve is to hang a keyListener to the e-mail client BlackBerry existing (MessageApplication).  My request is a background process (run in the module of the system initially up). I was able to add a menu item for the e-mail client using the method ApplicationMenuItemRepository.getInstance (.addMenuItem) without problem. However, I had a hard time to install a keyListener to the MessageApplication, so that my partner can get called when the user clicks a certain key in the BlackBerry email client.

    I don't know if this is possible, but I guess that since we can connect the menu item, then we should be able to hang the keyListener as well. Please notify.

    Thanks in advance for your help.

    Chris

    This is not supported.  Applications can listen wheel/trackball/key events when they display in the foreground.

    Its there any option of the 'blackberry-signer"tool to avoid this problem?

    Thank you.

    There was after discussions with the same and related issues to come. I think that in most cases, the recommended solution is to use a technique to pack files, so there are fewer of them.

    What is the nature of the data (images, or what)? What size is the most records? None of them never change between updates?

    Can we simply zipped and individual elements retrieved on request? What group a SQLite database file pre-generated with the files stored there as blobs?

    Mobile Connect 9.3 is:

    Mobile

    • Supported by Apple devices: iPhone 5, iPhone 5, iPhone 4, iPad with Retina display, iPad 3, iPad 2, iPad mini and iPod touch (4th & 5th generations)
    • Apple OS summary versions of supported: iOS 6 and higher
    • Supported by Android devices: Motorola DROID RAZR MAXX, Motorola Atrix, Motorola Xoom, Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1, Samsung Galaxy S3 & S4, Nexus 7 Tablet
    • Android OS summary supported versions: 2.3.4 and superior

    The last update the BB app got was 1.7.5. The current version of the mobile Connect application is 2.2. The output of 2.1 was a note that the Blackberry is platform is no longer supported (Page 2 here). This is reflected in the Connect tech specs page, which is where I got the mobile platforms supported above. In my view, the answer is at the end of the account, you will need to use an Apple or Android mobile device, or your computer.

  • blackberry.bbm.platform.users.shareContent is not defined

    I'm trying to share content via BBM with my app, but when I use the blackberry.bbm.platform.users.shareContent function, I get the following error that it has not defined:

    TypeError: 'undefined' is not a function (assessment 'blackberry.bbm.platform.users.shareContent ()')

    I checked the blackberry.bbm.platform.users object, and there only the inviteToDownload function. (check the attached screenshot)

    How is that possible? did I miss something necessary?

    My config.xml file contains:

    <>Ermit > bbm_connectermit >

    In addition, inviteToDownload works very well and I'm using the latest version of the SDK: BlackBerry 10 WebWorks SDK 1.0.4.11.

    shareContent is not supported on BlackBerry 10.  The BBM SP session and channels that allow a communication device are not supported in BlackBerry 10.  These are supported in BlackBerry OS 5 to 7.

    What developer support options are available for the development of Java for the BlackBerry Smartphone?

    What plans are available?

    Who can I contact with to register a support plan?

    One of the evangelists 'Developer' RIM working outside South Africa, I think, so there should be someone local you can talk too.  If you message Mark Sohm (the RIM name you will see a lot on the forum - MSohm), with your e-mail address and it ask to put you in contact with the Developer Evangelist in SA, which should help.  You can tell Mark to ask me if he needs clarification.  Do not promise anything either but I hope that something will happen.

  • Is there a way to get the owner of BlackBerry phone to the BlackBerry browser number?

    We are trying to identify the user by their BlackBerry phone number in a web application Java running on a WebSphere version 6.1 application server (JDK5.0). BlackBerry users access the application through BlackBerry browser. Is it possible to get the phone from the owner of the number with type of JavaScript code and pass the phone back number to the Web server? Has anyone done this type of programming?

    We use curve and BlackBerry Torch.

    Thank you in advance.

    It is not possible to read the phone number of the user of the BlackBerry browser application.  There is no object of JavaScript in the context of the browser which allows a web site to access this type of information (or the browser exposes this info).

    However, during the incorporation of an object browser in a Java application (for example using the framework WebWorks, or creating an application of Java-Web hybrid from scratch), you have the ability to access the necessary telephone API which allows you to read the active phone number.

    One suggestion would be to create a BlackBerry application using the WebWorks platform, which support your JSP page.  Your users then install and use this client on their BlackBerry (instead to access the content via the browser), and then you can use device API such as the phone API to add functionality for your application.

    Sincerely,

    Adam

  • BlackBerry Java SDK v6.0.0 what operating system on the device?

    I installed BlackBerry Java SDK v6.0.0 and the 1.1.2.201004161203 - 16 BlackBerry Java plug-in for Eclipse.

    What Op system will run applications compiled and delivered with the Java SDK v6.0.0?

    It's just a ready version for OS v.6 or Apps running on OS v.5.x?

    I've compiled packed etc and tried to load my file ALX on my BB I get;

    "No applications can be found. Your file may contain applications that already exist... "etc".

    Google has been, and it was suggested that I uninstalled BB Desktop, cleanregistry etc., downloaded the latest version. Done, but no joy.

    Thank you.

    all devices are compatible, but not upward.

    in other words, an application compiled with os 6 will work only on the OS6 devices (simulators).

    If you compile with 4.2.1 all devices with OS 4.2.1 or higher, for example OS 6, run.
