This means that it supports nvme as sm951 m2 2280 ssd ssd?

    Thanks in advance.

We discussed the need for this kind of information with HP, but it has not yet been given for us.

  • Area 51 motherboard - R2 supports NVMe via PCIe SSD?

Motherboard of the area 51 - R2 supports is SSD Intel 750, Samsung SM951 NVMe, HP Turbo Z G2?

Thanks a lot for the following upward. I tried the new BIOS update, but unfortunately, it has not solved the problem with my SSD PCIE.

For area 51 R2 owners who are considering the purchase of an SSD PCIE (or m2 with adapter PCIE SSD), that's my experience with a Samsung SM951 AHCI 512 GB SSD as a reference.

    My system is area 51 with 3 X GTX980, i7-5960 X R2.

The SM951 itself requires an m2 or PCIE X 4 3.0 logging and is capable of running sequential read-2150 MB/s, write-1500 MB/s, BUT NOT ON CETTE MACHINE! Oh well, at least not with the PCIE X 4 connector on it.

I used a PCIE X 4 3.0 connector adapter to connect my SM951 since there is no slot m2. And the speed test with ATTO Disk bench, AS SSD Benchmark and HDTune are everywhere:

Sequential read-1550 MB/s, write-1200 MB/s, which is about 75% of the full speed of SM951.

My first thought me I had a bad SSD, but I was wrong.

I then unhooked one of the GTX980s and connected via the PCIE SSD 8 X instead of X 4 location on the motherboard. Then the magic happened, the test speed is just right:

    reading-2150 MB/s, write-1500 MB/s, the maximum speed of SM951.

After some research on the internet, my best guess at the moment is because the designer of area 51 R2 does not thing of M.2 SSD or PCIE SSD as a big problem in time (this is probably why the motherboard 2 X 99 of the area has no slot m2 while other brands is not), so they set up somehow the PCIE X 4 as version 2.0 connector (to give the bandwidth for the) three GTX980s)? So it would NOT the PCIE X 4 slots to provide sufficient bandwidth for high-speed SSD.

May be I'm wrong with guess. It would be appreciated if someone could provide an idea or a solution as the PCIE X 4 slot is not working properly.

    CONCLUSION:

For those who own the Alienware Area 51 R2 with 3 graphics cards and contemplating the purchase of a high-speed SSD PCIE, I highly recommend waiting for a new BIOS solve the problem of the PCIE X 4 slots. (new version A02 does not solve it).

For those who own the Alienware Area 51 R2 with 1 or 2 graphics cards, go ahead and buy the PCIE SSD if you want. Once you fail to reach the speed of falling with the PCIE X 4 connection, try the PCIE X 8 connector, it should work properly.

PS: Thanks again for those who see this as a problem. The age of the PCIE SSD is coming. And the only way to make the Alienware is better admit everything first missing something :)

  • Lenovo Y700 HDD cable

    Dear all, especialy Lenovo representative

Currently, I bought Lenovo Y700-15ISK with that 256SSD only, as I use my existed 2 TB internal HARD drive. Try to install mantioned above disk HARD in the laptop I found that for versions SSD Lenovo does not include required HARD drive cable.

Do somone have a solution to such a problem?

Dear team of Lenovo, is something like this is a normal practice of the business of Lenovo?

  • AU116TX: Is - AU116TX support M2 SSD?

In AU116TX 15 HP manual it says that it supports M2 SSD 2280. I saw a lot of videos on the internet and I could not find Slot M2 or any other site mentioned on this laptop. The laptop really Slot M2 or the manual is common to all series of the Pavilion?

I bought samsung EVO 850 sata 3 internal SSD. I know this will help for sure, but with a limit of 6 Gbps. but M2 SSD supports commercial uptop 35 GB/s.

so please help me if my knees supports M2 SSD or not.

    http://h10032.www1.HP.com/CTG/manual/c05273198

It only supports drives SATA m2 but here is the catch. It's one or the other, either a 2.5 inch SATA SSD or HDD OR an m2 because there is a connector port and each type of car has a specific carriage and cable to fix in the drive Bay hard so that a single cable. Not both. And, because each device uses a SATA header on the motherboard a SATA m2 will be not significantly faster than a 2.5 inch SATA SSD. The numbers you see are for a NVME aka M.2 PCI-e that does not support yours.

See how the section m2 of the manual gives a 'Council' and the 'cable' for WSSD m2 card? And good luck trying to find these parts, if your laptop is not so equipped. Very rare. Get a high quality (Samsung 850 Evo or Pro if money is no object) 2.5-inch SSD, and you will be satisfied with the performance.

  • Lenovo Y700 update

Hello I am new to the Forum and l just needed help with the Lenovo IdeaPad Y700 80NV0026US since I'm getting the version 15.6 inch with 8 GB of ram and I plan to update in which makes it 16 GB of ram and also adding an SSD for her (128 is the least that I can go) and I know there are only some internal SSD I can use it on it and I just want to know who is the best and compatible I can use to update (same for the ram).

  • Satellite P300 - 13 X (PSPC4E-02E00JG3) - supports the SSD?

    Hello

I want to buy an SSD for my Toshiba Satellite P300 - 13 X (PSPC4E-02E00JG3). I opened the back panel and saw that he has a blank for a second hard drive.
I want to put a SSD in this space. My laptop is supports the SSDS?

    Do you think that the Kingston SSD now 100 - SV100S2N / 64G is compatible? (http://www.ec.kingston.com/ecom/configurator_new/PartsInfo.asp?root=uk&LinkBack=http :// www.kingston.com/ukroot&ktcpartno=SV100S2N/64G)

    Thank you.

    Sorin

    Hey Sorin,

Satellite P300 supports already SATA interface t so I see a problem for SSDS. They have the same normal hard drives SATA interface and the same size, if you buy a 2.5.

As you can see in other threads, many users already did a SSD upgrade on different laptops models and it always worked correctly.

The Kingston drive you mentioned that you should work fine. Generally all brands SSD and HDD works there is no compatibility issues, or you must buy a certain brand. So just buy your favorite one ;)

  • SL500 "this program does not support this system.

I have an SL500 with 64-bit windows system 7. He has a new system installed. I have correctly installed all necessary drivers. Now, I'm not able to install elements of followind with the system update utility:

ThinkPad ultranav driver for windows 7

    ThinkPad hotkey features integration pilot

    ThinkPad Ultranav utility

If I try to manually install, I get an error message "this program does not support this system.

I had the same problem with Version 3.84.1500 of the driver Thinkpad hotkey features integration

(and the latest version of 3.84.2000)

    This is a faulty installation.

    2 the missing files.

Solution to what Lenovo fixes installation:

Download and install the latest version.

Download and install the 3.81.0100 version.

Copy the files SWI32.sys and SWIX64.sys of the 3.81.0100 in the folder version corresponding to the most recent version.

Run setup.exe from the most recent version.

According to the properties file SWI32.sys and SWIX64.sys are used as 'System Information Detector'.

No wonder we get the error message "this program does not support this system.

    Lenovo, please fix.

    Hello

I don't think that there is no limit on that. I think that whatever it is upwards to 500 GB will certainly work and probably same disks up to a 1 to. Samsung is a very popular brand with the Evo Series discs / Pro. I would go for one of them.

  • Y at - it that a Lenovo desktop can support 8 GPU?

Hi, I am trying to build a new Linux box for my search for deep learning. I was wondering if Lenovo workstations can support 8 GPU? I think P900 workstation can support at least 2 X Titan, but do not know if the power supply can support something like Titan 8 X (each requires a 6-pin power supply + 8 pin)?

    Any suggestions?

BTW, I chose pascal Titan X (12G) mainly because it seems that the best GPU for deep learning. Thank you.

None of our ThinkStations will support natively 8 GPU (for example, Titan X, etc.).  There are simply not enough slots all the bandwidth available to the support of many.  This is really a limitation of the architecture in this without workstations dual CPU will be able to support such a configuration.

The only thing that you might consider to use a workstation in combination with an external Expander.  These boxes are used to a controller card that installs in the computer and then lets one more card must be installed in a powered external Expander.  Get these to work with a job is not always easy but also there may be problems getting the BIOS OF THE system to work properly with the Extender and the large number of cards.  So no guarantee it will work for your situation, but this is probably the best/only option if you choose to try to support such a configuration with a workstation.
