AU116TX: Is - AU116TX support M2 SSD?

In AU116TX 15 HP manual it says that it supports M2 SSD 2280. I saw a lot of videos on the internet and I could not find Slot M2 or any other site mentioned on this laptop. The laptop really Slot M2 or the manual is common to all series of the Pavilion?

I bought samsung EVO 850 sata 3 internal SSD. I know this will help for sure, but with a limit of 6 Gbps. but M2 SSD supports commercial uptop 35 GB/s.

so please help me if my knees supports M2 SSD or not.

http://h10032.www1.HP.com/CTG/manual/c05273198

It only supports drives SATA m2 but here is the catch. It's one or the other, either a 2.5 inch SATA SSD or HDD OR an m2 because there is a connector port and each type of car has a specific carriage and cable to fix in the drive Bay hard so that a single cable. Not both. And, because each device uses a SATA header on the motherboard a SATA m2 will be not significantly faster than a 2.5 inch SATA SSD. The numbers you see are for a NVME aka M.2 PCI-e that does not support yours.

See how the section m2 of the manual gives a 'Council' and the 'cable' for WSSD m2 card? And good luck trying to find these parts, if your laptop is not so equipped. Very rare. Get a high quality (Samsung 850 Evo or Pro if money is no object) 2.5-inch SSD, and you will be satisfied with the performance.

    Thank you.

    Sorin

    Hey Sorin,

Satellite P300 supports already SATA interface t so I see a problem for SSDS. They have the same normal hard drives SATA interface and the same size, if you buy a 2.5.

As you can see in other threads, many users already did a SSD upgrade on different laptops models and it always worked correctly.

The Kingston drive you mentioned that you should work fine. Generally all brands SSD and HDD works there is no compatibility issues, or you must buy a certain brand. So just buy your favorite one ;)

    Hello

I don't think that there is no limit on that. I think that whatever it is upwards to 500 GB will certainly work and probably same disks up to a 1 to. Samsung is a very popular brand with the Evo Series discs / Pro. I would go for one of them.

    Cliff, welcome to the forum.

Here are the components for your computer memory Crucial.  As you can see, they offer an SSD.  You can read the specifications of it to see if it matches the SSD you want to use.  Read the entire page to get all the information.  You need SATA power cables and data cables.  There are 6 SATA connectors on the motherboard.  Also, you need adapters to install 2.5 "disks in disks 3.5" bays.

If the laptop supports solid state drive (or even hybrid), I couldn't find in the user manual that the SSD is supported.  If this is not the case, he will support a hybrid?

  • HPM9265: HPM9265 AHCI support for SSD

    You are the very welcome.

Trim is not supported in your PC, as it is.

Unfortunately, I do not know what the consequences are for not having not TRIM support.

I cannot say if adding a third party sata controller would be better than what you have now.

There are several different cards to choose from, but which is the right one for the scenario that you are?

I have seen that some say 'support for SSD.

    Who didn't tell me much.

Some people say that the PCIe x 1 slot slows down the drive.  Others say it's faster.

I've tested my new SSD with old Acer laptop, works perfectly, in my new HP x 360 is not recognized!

    Antonio

First of all it is a user to User Forum. We do not work for HP and HP are not responsible for what is said or not said. Now a version of English language of your maintenance manual is not accessible. Closest I can find is the one that covers models up to 099 and is probably correct:

    Manual

The x 360 is not really meant to be open and updated by end users and when the laptop was sold to you no one said or implied that change hard drive for one SSD has been supported or allowed while keeping the warranty. You a Crucial SSD of MX200 with no information saying it was compatible and decided to install it.

Access the hard drive appears on page 29. Yes, any computer that uses a SATA hard disk can use a 2.5 inch SSD SATA. Function properly, but if there is a model that has given the most compatibility problems is the MX Crucial series. Do not know why. Chances are that a different SSD will work very well. My favorite is the Samsung 850 Evo. OCZ made a good whole as PNY and SanDisk.

This is how I think that the best information that you're going to get. Let us know if you have more specific questions.

    Hello

I have a hp envy 15 j118so with AMD processor.

I'm planing to replace my SSD HDD HARD drive.

I was reading through the forums in orer to find a good way how to and I found the manual below

    He mentions the manual it's

256 GB SSD (for models equipped with an Intel computer)

This means that my PC does not support SSD as I AMD Quad processor?

    Thank you

Don't listen to this guy. It is a straight copy and paste and that's all. SSDS is supported by anything that uses the SATA interface.

  • HP Pavilion DM4 - 3002TX Beats Edition supports mSata SSD 128 GB?

    Hello

I want to install a SSD 128 GB mSata in my HP Pavilion DM4 with 1 TB of HDD.

I already read the document "HP Pavilion dm4 Entertainment PC Maintenance and Service Guide"

It is said 'Supports a 32 GB mSATA SSD' and «a 20 GB mSATA SSD»

and when I read on combination mSata SSD with HDD.

"Support either a 750 GB, 5400 RPM, 9.5 mm hard drive + 20 GB mSATA SSD drive
configuration combination or a 500 GB, hard drive 7200 RPM, 9.5 mm + 20 GB mSATA solidstate
    combination drive configuration "

the document does not mix with 1 TB HARD drive.

The laptop supports SSDS this size and combination with 1 TB of HARD drive?

    Thank you

Yes it supports. See page 44 of this manual:

    Repair manuals

Check the service bay to be sure, you have the slot depicted on page 44.

The usefulness of the drive cache mSATA also depends on how much RAM you have, but I guess you have the 4 original concerts or at least no more than 8. Buy a 32 gig WSSD and install it. Restart the computer and let Windows load a driver. Now open the Intel Rapid Storage Technology Console. Go to the performance tab and activate the acceleration. You will be able to choose how many the mSATA to use for acceleration and you can so use it all because that anything left over will not do much good. Restart once or twice to leave the files to migrate the mSATA reader, you should notice a lot, a lot more quick time startup and better performance in general. There is no other practical use for the reader of the WSSD as an accelration cache. It is not really possible to use it as a boot drive, but install the accelerator cache is well worth.

Where do you live? All over the country. We can help you find the drive of the WSSD.
