iSCSI Config - do I need this?

Hi all

Looking for clarification here, don't know if it's really the storage or the network, but I'm going to put it out there.

Basically, my config is as below (I removed the VM and IPs).  I have a MSA attached directly, but now we expand the network to include a backup to disk solution, which means that we will put up a configuration correct iSCSI switched.

The seller we work collaboratively with said that we create a new vSwitch VM ports group 1, so there is a link between the iSCSI network and the Production network?  Is this necessary?  The VMkernel port group has a Def GW that allows traffic from the road and I have not seen elsewhere in the document of unravel iSCSI VMware.

Thanks in advance

With a 'link' what do mean? Need a virtual machine with two NICs to connect to vSwitch0 and vSwitch1?

Or maybe they think that you can have initatiors iSCSI internal running inside the guests, direct access to the iSCSI SAN?

Or some kind of backup software running inside a virtual machine that needs direct access to the storage?
