ISE license after installing newly

Hi guys,.

We have a device running version 3355 1.1.1 ISE and the base license is already installed in it. For now, we want to transform the 1.2 version, but we have only completed installation 1.2 IOS, which means that we do not have the path to upgrade to version 1.2 of 1.1.x. I want to know if the license is lost when we freshly installed the full version of 1.2 instead of the upgrade. THX!

Concerning

Hello

I wasn't looking to ISE. With ACS (which I think the same thing), but when you perform a complete installation, you must provide the license file (same license of the old installation file), and then you restore the backup from the old to the new configuration.

So yes the license will be lost and you must add back to the new facility.

  • Nexus 5548 continuously restart after installing licenses for L3

Here is the situation - we bought recently L3 (N55-D160L3-V2) daughter cards for our 5548UPs as well as Services in Enterprise LAN licenses)

    N55 - LAN1K9).

I installed the card and Ent Svcs lic this weekend last and all is well except that I could not activate the feature of EIGRP... apparently, EIGRP requires basic LAN (N55-BAS1K9-BUN) license even if you have the lic Enterprise installed, so I was able to dig up from this license afterwards (which comes with the L3 daughter card (, by the way). Another side effect do not install the Base of Lan lic, is the L3/card module will be in an "offline" status until the Lan Base license is installed. Whatever it is, everything worked normally in L2 mode at the moment.

So here, I thought, I was ready to proceed with the activation of L3 - this morning, I installed the basic LAN license on one of the 5548 s who apparently triggered the daughter card module L3 get active and triggered a reboot of the switch. OK, not that big of knew a business, that was probably to come. I expect the switch to return to the top normally... NOPE. The switch is entered in a continuous reboot cycle where the console prompt appears, and then 30 seconds later, could restart again.

Finally I ended up reinstalling the original map of L2 and the right switch came. I see that the basis of LAN and Enterprise LAN are both still installed as well.

What have I done wrong here?  Why the switch changed in a continuous reboot cycle once I installed the basic LAN license?

    Thanks in advance!

  • Satellite U300-14Z - no sound after installing WIn7

    Hello!
I have the problem (series Satellite PSU30E) next: laptop computer was Windows XP, who suddenly "fallen" and again once it has not issued (as explained by problem SATA drivers). I installed Windows 7 64 bit, but after installing it turned out that the * Device Manager has no audio device *. I reinstalled the system, is now a Windows7 Ultimate x 86 license.

All options work, but the sound did not always appear. Installing the drivers doesn't help - * OS still does not see a sound card *. What could be the tools to solve the problem?

    Hi whooz,.

Is that what you have already installed the audio driver from Toshiba Web site? As far as I know Satellite U300 supports Windows 7 32 bit then an audio driver should be listed and works because readers are pre-tested by Toshiba.

But it is also important that you install the chipset driver and should be installed first. So start with installing the audio driver.

Also, try to load the default settings in the BIOS.

  • Error 0X0000007E Stop after installing the new card mother and CPU.

Original title: Stop error after installing the new card mother and CPU.

After I installed a new motherboard and CPU I got a stop error 0X0000007E (0XC0000005, 0XB77EA756, 0XB84C742C, 0xB84C7128) and it restarted immediately. It always starts in safe mode, but I can't understand what is wrong. The old processor is a pentium 4 3 ghz, not sure what the motherboard was, new processor is AMD Athlon 64 X 2 Dual core 4200 + and I only know that the motherboard is an ASUS socket AM2. Device Manager does not recognize the CPU correctly, it shows just two entries called processor. As far as I can tell, it's almost certainly a driver issue, but I don't know how to diagnose or fix this. I am running windows XP home, I removed my video card, running 2 hard drives at 120 g (M) and 200 g (S), a DVD drive (M) and a reader of CD (S), and a stick of RAM to 1 GB.

If you have made the change without having to reinstall XP, you will be taking and Pray H@ll. the best thing to do would be to reinstall XP and make sure you have the drivers available for your motherboard available so that you can update the installed chipset. In addition, be aware that if you have an OEM of Windows version, the license is dead when you changed the mother/CPU card.

    I hope this helps.

My system is connected to the network with 3 PCs and all are licensed copy.

    Hello

Welcome to the Forums Community Microsoft and thanks for posting the question.

According to the description, you get an error message "FAILED CONNECTION USER INIT" after installing Windows updates.

From my research, this problem occurs if the Userinit key in the Windows registry has been changed. For example, this problem may occur if the Userinit key has a value, but no binary data.

I suggest you follow the steps mentioned below.

    Method 1:

Step 1: Start the computer in safe mode

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/start-your-computer-in-safe-mode

Step 2: Check the value and binary Userinit registry data

Important: The following instructions contain the steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information, view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

    Back up the registry
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/back-up-the-registry

    a. start Registry Editor. To do this, click Start, type regedit in the search box and press ENTER.

    b. click continue.

    c. Locate and then click the following registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon

    d. in the right pane, right-click Userinit, and then click change.

    e. in the value data box, type hard disk:\Windows\System32\userinit.exe, and then click OK.

Note: The placeholder of the hard drive refers to the drive on which Windows Vista is installed.

    f. close the registry editor.

    g. restart the computer.

    Method 2:

Restore the system to an earlier point before installing this application.

System Restore can return your files system to a point in time before you noticed a problem, without affecting documents, photos, or other personal files. If the system restore does not resolve the problem, you can undo the restore operation and choose a different restore point.

  • ISE license consumption and freeing licenses [RADIUS]

    Hi people EHT,.

There are a lot of questions of ISE issued by me in the last time. And guess what - another here.

I wonder how the ISE license consumption and freeing licenses actually works. At least I have not find any good document or post on it.

From what I understand, a license (no matter if basic, plus, apex whatever) is consumed based on RADIUS accounting messages.

    Example:

An endpoint is authenticating and allowed successfully with 802. 1 X without profiling or posture or whatever (simple). The ISE knows that this endpoint must use a base license and basic license consumption is increased by one.

As soon as the client is disconnected from the network, the n (switch, WLC) sends an accounting stop message to the ISE and the ISE again releases the base license.

    (am I right so far?)

Assuming that I am just using the example above:

RADIUS is not say that really reliable. No matter that it uses UDP (which is unreliable), RAY has a mechanism of recognition built in (Accouting request / respone). But this mechanism gives up after a few attempts. Suppose that a client is disconnected, but the message of stop RADIUS is not received by the ISE.

Fact the endpoint stay forever in the State of the current session and therefore to consume a license forever? (Assume that there is no timer of dot1x re-authentication).

Or is it a mechanism of 'time-out' for endpoint licences?

Kind of a side story here:

I wrote a simple wrapper for the freeradius tool 'eapol_test '. Go Linux applications unique command line EAP (e.g., EAP - TLS) can be issued to a RADIUS server. If the Linux client acts as "supplicant" X 802.1 and authenticator. It's cool to quickly test the availability of the service of an authentication server.

My simple wrapper for "eapol_test" performs a ping 'EAP' at the time of convergence of measurement and measurement of authentications per second in a lab environment. The wrapper can also change endpoint of each session of RAY MAC. When I do ping EAP in a laboratory of my number of licenses on the ISE exploded, because eapol_test does not deliver messages from accounting RADIUS to EHT :)

    Johannes has soon

    Hi Johannes-

You're right about the consumption of license:

Licenses are counted against concurrent, active sessions. An active session is one for which a RADIUS Accounting Start is received but RADIUS Accounting Stop has not yet been received.
    However, in addition to this:
Note Sessions without RADIUS activity are automatically purged from Active Session list every 5 days or if the endpoint is deleted from the system.
This information used in the documentation of ISE 1.x, but for some reason, he is not :) in the 2.x here's the info from 1.2: http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/security/ise/1-2/installation_guide/ise_ig/ise_app_d_man_license.pdf I hope this helps! Thank you for the useful job evaluation!
